Music, food and fun. Love stopping in whether on a date night or with a crowd. Fundido is a must everytime. Cocktails are great and the tequila options feel overwhelming. Overall I look forward to coming back and trying a new Antojitos.
The vibe at Meximodo is unmatched so is the food and service . The parking garage next door is complimentary for guests who dine at the restaurant. Park n walk into a high energy restaurant that rocks upbeat music , a grand colorful bar with their tequila collection, the unmatched decor and a classy meal . Raymond waited at our table and he lknew the menu and made some good suggestions Cantarita and Mocktail passion fruit margarita were great picks . House chips and salsa with fresh pico offered a great start to our meal . Followed by Truffle street corn which was a creamy crushed corn with truffle flavor with 2 crisp tortilla to scoop the corn . Chicken poppers with a Ranch harissa dipping sauce had a little kick to it but offered the creamy texture to dip the saucy fried chicken The Baja fish tacos had Alaskan fried cod with a cabbage slaw and the the kicked up ranch making it a mouthful goodness I loved everything about this place and would highly recommend it .
Hip date night spot! I've tried to visit this establishment in the past (about six months ago) and there was a very long wait, even with a reservation. Due to the long wait (1 hr+) in the fall, we ended up leaving and not trying out this restaurant. This time, I was pleasantly surprised that we were seated within a few minutes in the outside dining area, even without a reservation this go around. The drinks are the focal point! There are so many options, all of which are unique and delicious, and they come out looking so fun. I had the Tamarindo and my husband opted for El Jefe. The Tamarindo had a delicious, sour tajin rim. I was sold from that point on! Before any food came out, we were provided with complementary chips, pico de gallo, and hot sauce. A nice way to ease into the food. Our appetizer was a citrusy shrimp dish, with the seafood plated on avocado mouse. I've never tried avocado in this format and it was so delightful- soft and creamy! The sauce was perfectly citrusy and the presentation made it look like art. My main dish was the spicy shrimp tacos. They were sufficiently packed, not overfilled, which I appreciated. I was full after one taco and had two more to take home. Overall, this is a good energy, lively spot with loud Latin music and good eats. Slightly on the pricier side, but well worth the energetic atmosphere. Staff were so friendly and helpful- couldn't ask for more in this department. Great way to spend a summer evening!
Came here at random after trying to find a place to go for lunch together. Not bad. A large venue with metered street parking & a parking garage around the corner. They validate parking at the restaurant when you leave if you ask. Bright "Mexican" themed interior. Modern & clean approach, friendly staff. They give complimentary Popcorn. Kettle style so slightly sweet & seasoned with salt & tajin. We ordered the Mi Amor Margarita & Mockarita (Margarita Mocktail)[not pictured]. They have a small mocktail menu, FYI. For food we had Truffle Street Corn, Salsa Flight, & Chef Taco Board. The Chef Taco Board feeds 3 people, we used it for 4. It comes with 9 Tacos & 1 side. You can choose from the list of Tacos that they have, so you get 3 of each taco you choose. We chose the Jalisco Birria Melt Tacos, Slow Braised Carnita Tacos, & Pineapple Fire Shrimp Tacos, our chosen side was the Yuca fries. A nice an experience & a place I'd recommend if someone were in the area looking for Mexican. Note: They add a 2.90% convenience fee to your check for card usage. Not a fan of that, but whatever. This restaurant is so great! We went for lunch today with a big group and the food was delicious. The portions are a very good size and the restaurant is super beautiful with these grand lights and a really nice bar mural. The only thing is it can be seriously noisy in here as it's a really large space- and if they're showing an event like fifa's World Cup you will absolutely not be able to hear the people you're with. Also sometimes when I go there's been people randomly recording (from the business) and they are just walking around on their phones taking video of the patrons - it feels very weird and has happened twice when I was there.
We went to Meximodo, Metuchen, NJ for my birthday on May 5th. It was a great experience. We had a lovely afternoon with great food and ambiance. Ordered corn and roasted tomatoes Guacamole, El Jefe bowl, and Enchiladas with Verde sauce with veggie trio and in drinks ordered Margarita. Everything was really good but enchiladas hit the spot. Loved the vibe of the place. It's a beautiful space. Service was great too.
I had a great experience at Meximodo. The atmosphere is beautiful, modern, vibrant, and perfect for a night out.The food was excellent. The chips came with several different salsas, each with its own flavor and spice level, which was a really nice touch. Everything we ordered was fresh and well seasoned. The tacos were delicious, and the elote style dish was rich and flavorful. The drinks were also impressive. The cocktail presentation was beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. Our waiter Miguel was fantastic.very attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. His service definitely added to the overall experience. Great food, great drinks, great service. I'll definitely be coming back.
Drinks 5 stars (for the area). Food 3.5 stars. Ambience/decor 5 stars. I am a frequent visitor to Meximodo Metuchen because 1) I'm always in Metuchen, 2) They have excellent drinks, 3) they have food my kids will eat, and 4) the ambience is great! With that being said, the food can be just OK sometimes, depending what you get. I do LOVE the chorizo queso fundido and pumpkin queso, yuca fries, and some other random apps and dishes. Shrimp tacos aren't bad too. However, we've gotten the fish tacos and other meat tacos like barbacoa which can be underwhelming or dry (meat). Fish tacos had too much batter and I could barely taste the fish. Was also not impressed by the mole, although the mole sauce itself wasn't bad. The shrimp & watermelon aquachile was plated and presented excellently with smoke and everything, but I'm not sure I would pay $22 for some watermelon again. Would love it if you brought maybe an oxtail or bone marrow taco or surtida tacos, or maybe even some good brisket tacos. Am I also asking for too much to see if you can house make your own tortillas? LOL My fave drink is the cocolada, but they are ALL amazing cocktails. Oh, and they have the largest tequila selection at a bar in the US. My husband is into that though, I'm more of a cocktail person. Service is usually good too and some of them really know their tequilas! I hope they bring back the happy hour specials though, because we always end up spending quite a bit! Also, I ABSOLUTELY love the decor all the time. They change it up with each season and various holidays, and even gave my daughter a legit meximodo teddy bear on valentine's day for brunch!
We came here for an earlier dinner and were sat right away. The decor in here is so amazing, colors vibrant, definitely makes you instantly happy. Our waiter was very kind taking time to explain the menu and discuss what choices would be best for us. I had the guava margarita with a tajin rim absolutely amazing drink. The roasted corn and tomato guacamole had a ln authentic rustic flavor. The chicken enchiladas were delectable, entire plate done. Family friendly and decent pricing.
Presentation was good, but the flavors didn't exactly wow us. Look, this place is good for drinks and a hang. But wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for the tacos. Standout was their chocolate mole salsa
Food and atmosphere were good & cute for a girls night. Loved their margarita. They have a parking deck behind the restaurant & they are able to comp the parking! Service could have been a little better, at the end we just felt rushed by the waitress but all in all it was a good spot.
Meximoto was a pretty average experience overall. The ambiance was actually one of the best parts -- the decor was beautiful, and the wall and bar area were especially impressive. It created a really nice atmosphere and gave the restaurant a lot of character. The sangria was good, and the street corn was one of the highlights -- it had a nice kick and great flavor. The guacamole was okay, but nothing that really stood out. The biggest issue was the service. Our server barely checked on us, and we never even caught her name. The food took a very long time to come out, and we kept noticing other tables looking around and waiting too, so it didn't seem like it was just our table. What was frustrating was that our server never stopped by to give us an update, acknowledge the delay, or apologize. When the food finally arrived, the tacos were presented nicely, and my boyfriend enjoyed them. However, after such a long wait and lack of communication, I'm not sure the food was worth the experience. Overall, the space itself is beautiful and there were a few good items, but the lack of service really took away from the visit.

I had a decent experience at this restaurant. Likely because I went on a Monday around noon during the summer. I was able to easily find a reservation for 7 people and when we got there it was mostly empty, so our server was pretty attentive. By the time we left it was much busier. The ambience is really nice, the place is colorful with beautiful decor. I love the bar area. For food, I got the tamarindo drink which was not great. Was hoping for more tamarind flavor. The street corn and enchiladas were delicious. I give it three stars because the food is quite overpriced and we spent $20 on a small kids chicken quesadillas and $16 for 2 small tacos. The chicken tacos were not great, either. Chicken didn't taste like it was good quality meat. Would I go here again? Not sure as the menu is pretty small and I don't think some of the dishes are worth the price. read more

After trying to have breakfast with friends at Hatch 44 and finding out they had an hour and a half wait we decided to check out Meximodo and boy am I glad we did. The space was ample and comfy and very cutely decorated for Christmas. The vibes are modern and fun and the service from the hostesses to the waiters/waitresses was very professional and friendly. We ordered OJ, the avocado toast, corn pancakes and chicken and waffles. All were scrumptious! So flavorful and nice portions, my only thing I could do without is the sprinkles on the pancakes but it didn't ruin my experience at all. I definitely look forward to returning and recommend no doubt! read more

We came here on a Saturday with a bigger group and they were fully able to accommodate and serve us. Their food was good, reasonably priced, though their bartenders were only able to really make things that were on the menu, it seemed. I didn't want anything flavored, but they weren't able to offer any options at the bar. The tacos were good and I would go again! read more
I came in today for Pets on the Patio and I was impressed in many ways by the level of detail and hospitality from the staff here! Jazmine was fantastic, she was wonderful and so were the servers and I even got to meet the amazingly talented chef behind the successful dishes. TJ was great to meet and greet, he is extremely professional. I sat on their lovely patio, which is decorated with plants, very nice seating and a great extension to the main building and dining area. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained. I ordered the Avocado salad and the Tortilla soup for light lunch. Both were 5 stars, with an incredible amount of flavor. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for elegance, vibrant colors from their decor and art, and a world class staff. I can't wait to return for an evening experience! read more

I was extremely disappointed with the food, from the taste and texture to the overall value. I tried the Chicken Al Pastor Tacos and Pork Belly Tacos, both were awful. The Chicken Al Pastor Tacos tasted like warmed up pre-cooked packaged meat from the grocery store. It lacked any real marinade and was completely flavorless beneath the surface. The pineapple was not cooked in with meat either so the protein lacked tons of flavor and acidity. Unfortunately, the Pork Belly Tacos were a 1/10. The texture was cartilage-like and extremely dry and I don't know how else to describe the flavor - it was just bad. Nothing else in the taco had flavor either so there was no way to hide the taste of the pork. It was more surprising and disappointing considering how expensive the food was. I also noticed that another table who ordered the tacos didn't finish them either. Sometimes, even when food isn't great, you can still manage to eat it, but these dishes felt inedible. I ordered a lime margarita, which was pretty and tasted just fine. The guacamole wasn't a flavor I prefer but the texture was good. On a positive note, the plantains were good. It arrived hot and was soft and sweet. I also tried a bit of the Cajun pasta which was good but not worth the price or visit. Unfortunately, nothing about the food really stood out in a positive way. On the other hand, the service was great! The staff members were very kind, attentive, and friendly. It was nice and sweet to see groups of staff members singing happy birthday to the tables. A small gesture like that adds warmth to a lot to personal experiences and the atmosphere itself too. It was beautiful inside the restaurant and there was so much detail and artwork hanging along the walls. The mix of colors and different lighting added a lovely touch of brightness to the space as well & the bar wall was beautiful too. Overall Food: 1/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 read more

Came here for tacos and tequila to celebrate cinco de Mayo! I had no reservations and I was seated at the bar since reservations were made for the tables. First off the view of all the different tequilas is awesome. They give you complimentary tortilla chips and three different sauces ranging from mild to hot The server was attentive and even provided drink recommendations. The steak and the shrimp tacos were great and I'm not really a tacos person. They also had a love DJ playing great tunes. I had a great experience and have no negatives about this place. 5 stars read more
My friend and I sat at the bar instead of waiting for a table. Great ambiance and decor - that part is a 10/10! The presentation of the food and drinks was also quite nice (especially the drinks). All of the taco options come in orders of 3 and cost $19-21. Between the somewhat chewy texture of all of the meat, and the overall lack-luster flavor of both of our taco orders (one with chicken, one with steak) - we were disappointed in the quality of the food, especially at their price point. An average price of $16 for most of their cocktails felt a little bit steep, but I suppose that's expected at most contemporary restaurants that have nice ambiance. This is one of those situations where the drink price wouldn't even have been a topic of contention at all, if the food wasn't so disappointing. Meximodo is a great place to go strictly for drinks with friends or a date night, or for a corporate event where the company is footing the bill. read more
I couldn't wait to try this new Mexican spot when I saw the opening last year. The restaurant is gorgeous- unique decor and upbeat vibe, the ambiance is 10 out of 10. Our server Maria was super friendly and on point with taking our order and checking in frequently. When you arrive they give the table complimentary tortillas and sauces, def a nice touch. For drinks, we got margaritas which were delish and quite strong, I opted for the passion fruit and it wasn't too sweet, perfectly made. For dinner we got the shrimp tacos, yucca fries and the chicken mole entree. I was really hoping the food had more of a lasting impression; but overall it was just OKAY. With the drinks and ambience being so top tier, I expected more from our meal. We ended the night with a couple of tequila espresso martinis for dessert and they were bomb. Overall, I'd return for a quick drink and a little vibe. For the price, and taste of food, I wouldn't return for dinner. read more

We came here for a company party that someone was hosting. The staff: The staff here seemed nice and friendly. However, they could have done better by offering soda instead of just alcoholic drinks throughout the entire dinner. You would think that they would want us to sober up so we can get home safely. Cleanliness: The restaurant was clean with no garbage on the floors, bar area, or on the tables and chairs. Cocolada: This drink is just like a pina colada. It had the coconut and rum taste that is in it. Meximodo Guacamole: The chips were not oily and tasted delicious with the guacamole and pineapple. Pollo con Mole: The chicken was not dry and actually tasted pretty good with the white rice. I believe this entree was way better than the tacos that we ordered. Hanger Carne Asada: The steak was juicy and was cooked to perfection. This was a very delicious entree as well. The yuca fries tasted as if they were mozzarella sticks. I loved the yuca fries as well. Overall: The food here is a hit or miss depending on what you order. The alcoholic drinks here are absolutely fantastic and on par. They are a busy restaurant, and you have to make a reservation. If the reservations were not required, then I would probably come back. read more
I would give this 3.5 stars if I could, so rounding up to 4. What I liked: - Obviously, ambiance is off the charts - Drinks were strong, tasty, and came out quickly - Free tortilla chips with different salsas with the table, and the salsas were really flavorful - The guacamole that came with the ceviche was really flavorful - The street corn appetizer was really good - The pork belly entree was a larger portion than expected - Friendly and patient staff - Parking in the Pearl Street Garage right next door is free for three hours -- go there instead of paying for street parking! What I didn't like: - Ceviche appetizers (we got both the shrimp version and the regular fish version) were nothing to write home about, lacked flavor - The pork belly entree was dry and not crisp on the outside. I got maybe 2-3 melt-in-your-mouth bites out of the whole thing and not a strong flavor. It really just wasn't anything you would expect from pork belly. A friend at my table got the same thing and said the same thing, so it wasn't just a fluke. (My husband got the hangar steak and said his was also not tender like he'd hoped.) Also, the menu said this came with caramelized apples, but they were definitely just dehydrated, not caramelized - Entrees come out insanely quickly, to the point that it makes you question if the food is pre-made and then reheated before being served to you TLDR: for the price point, the food should be better. Definitely come for the atmosphere and drinks, and maybe a couple of apps. Honestly, after all of the terrible reviews I read about this place beforehand, my expectations weren't high, so I ended up being pleasantly surprised. read more

I went in on a Friday night with 2 gal pals. The ambiance is super cute. Perfect for a not so wild girls night. The tostadas they brought with the variety of sauces were delicious and you can ask for more. I wanted fish tacos but they ran out so I settled for chicken. They were good but I've had better. The rice and black beans were tasty too, but I would've preferred if it was Mexican style rice instead of white. The cocktails were strong but made with house tequila unless you request otherwise. Overall, I'd go back to try the interesting brunch menu, but not for dinner. read more
Meximodo has definitely improved its menu and overall hospitality since I first came. There's some vegetarian options on the menu. I'd say it's improved to 3.5/5 The corn appetizer was amazing with a nice kick to it. The Meximodo bowl was basic and like a burrito bowl. The guacamole was also average. It's a great place for group brunch with cute decorations but make sure you make a reservation. You'll have to wait even with a reservation. They also accommodate for some substitutions but overall the food is average. Would only go back for convenient location and ability to accommodate large groups. read more
I've been meaning to come here for a while. It is so pretty inside. Lots of pink and vibrant colors. There is music playing as well. The patio area was booked so we had to sit inside. Our waiter Jean Carlos was very nice. He recommended to sweet corn as an appetizer and it was delicious. The flautas were very good too. They were properly filled with chicken. The French tasted good but I didn't see how it was a 3 leches French toast. There was only whip cream. In other pictures it seems to have more milk on the bottom. We asked but he said it comes like this. So I would suggest changing the name. I can't wait to return for an evening outing to see what's it like at night. read more
IPDATE : march 13th The food was really bad We'd had sopa de tortilla before, but yesterday's was super spicy and no chicken in it! We liked corn dip and ceviche as appetizers Pollo con mole was completely dry and rubbery, we sent both soup & chicken UNTOUCHED(we paid for it tho) Birria tacos were tiny small but the meat was seriously dry and smelled bad. Didn't taste like goat at all, and we Indians know goat meat. Red snapper was good It was my husband's birthday and i'd specially asked you guys to wish him, and you had said we shall make him feel special" I was expecting a tiny dessert, but NOTHING. read more

The colors, music, and ambience of this place is fantastic! The servers were friendly as well. The tacos I ordered were the vegetarian option and they were delicious but have a very strong mushroom flavor, I found that the mexi fries were well seasoned. The dessert took a bit of a wait time but I enjoyed the coffee flavor of the flan and the ice cream that came with it. Overall a solid meal, and I would love to come back and try the other food and drinks on the menu! read more

I came to Meximodo again after the movies last night. We were immediately impressed by the Christmas decorations they had outside and inside the restaurant. I'm not sure if it was the owner or manager who came to our table, but when we shared our sentiments he said the woman who decorated took 3 weeks to complete it. This was evident in the attention to detail she took in placing everything. In terms of the food and service, everything came out fast for a busy Sunday night. We hadn't touched our chips and salsas and the next thing we knew our entrees came to the table. We both ordered the Quesabirria tacos with goat. The flavors were spot on, the goat was tender, and I loved how the cheese was melted on the inside of the shell. I got a side of yucca fries and they had the right amount of crispness to them. For drinks, I had the Mangonada, which was a frozen mango margarita. If I wasn't driving I would have ordered another one. The presentation and taste were spot on. For dessert, we ordered coconut sorbet and churros. The 2 of these made an epic combination. We couldn't stop eating them together, the chocolate and caramel dipping sauces were hardly touched. I left here with a few dishes I'll probably always be ordering. read more
Was able to come in without a reservation on a weeknight and sat at the bar! The service was fantastic- specifically Justin! Love this place I have been to their other locations before but today was the first time I've been to their metuchen location and did brunch. I ordered a Barbacoa Breakfast Burrito which was very good not too spicy and cooked perfectly the presentation was beautiful as well. The drink I choose was the Frida Kahlo it was one of the prettiest drink I have ever ordered. It was perfectly balanced between alcohol and the other ingredients although two of them wasn't enough to get me buzzed personally but I have a high tolerance. My waiter was very attentive and constantly checked on me and my food and drinks came out at a good time. The restaurant itself is beautiful I love the flower lights. My only issue is the music was too loud to have a conversation without raising your voice but it wasn't a deal breaker overall read more
I went here on a Friday afternoon; this was my first time here. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted and escorted to the dining room. It's bright, it's pink, it screams en la playa de Mexico. My friend and I ordered the La Chicharita Spirtz and the Freida Kahlo both were amazing drinks. I wish they would use more processco in the spritz; it's delicious if you like sweet & sour drinks. For Appetizer's we ordered the Chicken Flautas. The flautas were good, but way more sauce was needed. The entrees ordered were the Maitake Tacos, Steak & Cheese Tacos, and the Meximodo Salad. Everything was really good. The star of the show was the Meximodo Salad, the sweetness of the corn and crisp pickled jicama with the vinaigrette was CHEF'S KISS. I shared it with my friend this time. Next time I won't share, half a plate wasn't enough. The Tacos were good, just a bit small for the price you're paying at least give me 3 per order. I would definitely be coming back to this establishment. read more

The ambiance here is very cool. Like the open "garage door" type concept. Cool Mexican restaurant vibes. Service was ok. Had trouble hearing the waiter because it was so loud. He also went to check if the chicken in the enchiladas was white or dark meat and he told me white but it was a mix. He also said it was chunks but it was roasted. Not a huge deal but I probably would have ordered something else had I gotten the correct answer. The enchiladas were pretty good. We started with a corn fritter app. It was good overall had a Smokey taste. For dessert had the corn flan with Mexican vanilla ice cream. Flan was good. Something different. The ice cream tasted like regular vanilla. The cotton candy on the plate was super misplaced. Didn't connect to the dish. Overall this place was good but nothing stood out as amazing. read more

I was famished. The food hit the spot: mango habanero guacamole, yucca fries, shrimp tacos. All delicious. Should've taken photos but focused on eating all the goods! Drinks were also on point. I had the El Jefe and my friend had a fiery, orange forward old fashioned (forgot the name). Service was great. Loved the ambiance too. It helped that it was lunchtime on a weekday so I had no trouble hearing my dining mate but I imagine it could get loud when packed. read more
I heard mixed reviews about this place and after visiting, I get it. The ambiance is nice, but the service and food could use improvement. We didn't make reservations but when we walked up, we were told it'd be a 2-hour wait! So we put our name down and stepped outside. Within 5-10 minutes, we received a text that our table was ready. Odd, right? Perhaps the idea of a large group of 7 people walking away did it. We were disappointed when we got popcorn instead of chips & salsa. Was this easier for them since it's a busy graduation weekend, or is this the norm complimentary item here? And the cappuccino was not hot (kinda warm, at best) and it was more like a watered down hot chocolate. At least the apps were good. We got the yucca fries and plantains. But the entrees were subpar. The enchiladas were definitely microwaved and the tacos were just alright. Overall I wasn't blown away or even impressed enough to return. read more
I went to brunch at Meximodo with a group of ladies from a social club that I'm a part of. We had a reservation on a Sunday afternoon. Once we arrived, we were seated at our table and looked over the menu. I ordered the Mezcal Blues for my drink. I loved the presentation of their drinks. Mine was topped with edible flowers. For food, I ordered the enchiladas with chicken. The one thing I didn't like about this dish is that it was topped with chicken rather than stuffed with chicken. Nevertheless, it was a tasty dish. One thing that I loved about this restaurant is the decor and overall vibe of this place. It seems like a perfect place for all occasions, whether you're celebrating a birthday, having a date, or enjoying brunch with the girls. read more
Vibrant and fun Mexican restaurant right in the heart of Metuchen. Perfect for date nights, girls get together, and large groups this place has a great cocktail menu and good food. We managed to get seats at the bar by asking the hostess but I'd recommend you make a reservation especially for weekends. Some of the fruity margaritas in the flight were too sweet for us but we liked the frozen watermelon. The shrimp tacos were also super tasty and we liked them better than Al pastor which were a little lacking in flavor. We'd love to come back here and try more cocktails and food. read more
