I have been waiting to go to this place for awhile. From the outside it looks like a fun place to eat with - hopefully - good food. After finally going I think I may have built it up a little too much in my mind but it was still a good eat. I loved their salsa and chips along with the fact that they offered vegetarian options that weren't just full of beans and cheese. The service was average and the prices were good. My margarita (strawberry) was way too strong and I couldn't finish it but some people like it that way. I ordered the Spinach-Mushroom Quesadilla with the Casa Salad. The Quesadilla was a breath of fresh air. I love experimenting with different types of Quesidillas and I LOVE spinach and mushroom together. It came served with some salsa on top and my boyfriend and I consumed the entire thing in less than 3 minutes. The Casa Salad was full of veggies. The waiter suggested I use the Chipotle Dressing and he was right. It helped bring the salad to the next level. The only thing I hated was the olives but that was my fault because I forgot to ask for the salad to be sans-olives (I am an olive hater). My boyfriend ordered the Veggie Fajitas and we were both enamored by the restaurant's use of sliced avacado in both of our dishes. There is something about plain avacado that beats gaucamole to me. This place seems to be a great hangout for games and they have a huge Cinco De Mayo bash planned. "This place is always busy!!" - my mother I grew up less than a mile away from this restaurant. Whenever I drive home, this place's parking lot is always full. I have eaten here several times throughout the years. (this review is from my most recent visit in 11/2013.) My mother and I stopped by the bar for happy hour (4:30 - 7:00). We took advantage of the half price appetizers. I love that the hour is 2.5 hours; it caters to a lot of different schedules. We got three orders of wings, two orders of tacos and two orders of the quesadillas - our eyes were bigger than our stomachs after hot yoga. Our appetites were satisfied. My boyfriend had the absolutely fantastic idea of going to Mexican Post for some "cheap" margaritas before going to see a movie across the street at the Regal. This place was surprisingly empty considering it was 4:00 on a Sunday during football season, which was okay by me. We sat at the bar and got a pitcher of mango margaritas. First impression was that the drinks were going to be pretty weak considering the color was BRIGHT orange...I was wayyyy wrong. The pitcher was pretty strong and flavorful - perfect for pre-movie drinks. We also ordered the queso dip and 2 shredded beef tacos. Queso dip was really good; the tacos were pretty run-of-the-mill, though I was impressed by the selection of hot sauces available. We got our check and were pretty surprised that the pitcher cost a whopping $42! We should have paid attention to what we ordered, I guess. I'd like to say that the amount/quality of the tequila was worth it, but that would definitely be a lie. After we guzzled down the pitcher, we heard that the house margaritas were on special ($3) because of SUNDAY FUNDAY (...I hate that so much...), so we decided to try them. We always enjoy this Mexican Post. We love sitting at the high top tables. They have delicious, freshly made salsa and chips. It's quite spicy...which we love! The portions have gotten smaller over the years but they will refresh them as much as you want. The food usually comes out fairly quickly. The vegetable fajitas are delish. Unlike some silly restaurants that only give peppers and onions and maybe one other veggie, at the Post, you get Portobello mushrooms, zucchini and a nice, fresh fanned out avocado, etc. The enchiladas are also delicious. My boyfriend usually gets the combo meals so he can try various things and he always likes everything!!! The combos give you lots of options so you can try enchiladas, tacos, chimichangas, etc. Chicken grosses me out so I rarely get it at a restaurant. Their chicken is cooked and shredded so it's super tender and delicious. It does not "skeeve me out" at all. Lol. The guacamole is delicious, as well. They always have a pretty good bar scene whenever we come here. It seems like a lot of regulars. The bartenders always seem friendly and happy to serve their large happy hour (and beyond) crowd. There are TV'S with local sports on. It seems like things have gone up recently. We told the manager this on one of our recent experiences. It seemed cleaner and the food seemed fresher and the server was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some yummy Mexican food. I can't comment on the authenticity but to me, it's a great place. Good value for your money, too. The one thing I would say they need to work on are the nachos. Mexican Post is in a small strip mall on Naamans Road eastbound. I've almost never been able to get to and from any of the shopping areas on the south side of Naamans Road without making a U-turn somewhere, so you're on your own there. Maybe try a different route back. Anyway, I found the dining area to be quite comfortable with calming ambiance and some decor pieces that fit the theme. Service was good too. Overall this place is good eats. I recommend the chimichonga w/pork. Their pork in anything is extra tasty. Also, I think they recently changed their salsa recipe for the better. Definately an upgrade cause it's been extra tasty as of late, nice and spicy with just the right amount of cilantro. Today was the worst experience of my life. I was so excited to eat some great Mexican food. As we sat down to look over the menu, I noticed a lot of choices that were not authentic Mexican dishes. I noticed advertised Mexican burgers and chicken wings. We ordered tacos. We thought how can you mess this up. Less than 3 minutes after our order was paced, our tacos came out. With one bite, I was unimpressed by the taste of the food. The meat was taste less and greasy. Never could I imagine such disgusting food would be served to humans. Have been here twice, and A-OK is what the place is! It's conveniently located to the Brandywine Regal Cinemas, and both times we went, they were really fast. The food is pretty much what you might expect at a chain style Mexican restaurant, (At least this is a small local chain!) and I thought the margaritas were OK. We had an especially nice server last time around who was even chatty about movie recommendations. Maybe time to take it down? We ordered nachos, quesadillas, and fajitas. The nachos were good but not any different that what you could get at a chain. Everything was very bland and had almost no flavor. It was cooked well, tender and juicy, but bland. The margaritas were another problem. I got frozen mango and it just tasted like mango purée (which I kept burping the rest of the night. Not good) and my husband got a classic and said it tasted just like the margarita mix and ice. There was definitely no tequila in them and if there was it was maybe MAYBE a shot. For our $90 bill, we could've spent half that on all the same food, had actual tequila, more flavor in our food and drinks at an Applebee's. Refills on the chips and salsa (which is outstanding, by the way), and the chips come to the table warm! The margarita's are excellent and there are many to choose from (highly recommend a pitcher). We've been going to Mexican Post for over a decade - the menu has changed a number of times but most recently we encountered the strangest thing - I ordered a Fajita Salad - one would assume it would be a protein, chicken or beef, cheese, fried onions & bell peppers, green onions, maybe olives and jalapenos with lettuce maybe in a fried flour tortilla bowl or not. The weirdest thing - I ordered the Fajita Salad and it was a Taco Salad as described on the menu, with chicken which is the second item on the menu. When questioned about the issue, we were told management changed the menu and if you want fried onions and peppers with your Fajita salad you have to ASK for it - so why call it a Fajita salad and charge $5 more than the Taco Salad or Chicken Taco Salad? This menu change makes no sense. Point - If you want a Fajita Salad at Mexican Post you MUST request Fried onions and Peppers - makes it redundant. read more

Well seasoned shredded beef with red and green peppers, onions and cheese on top, rice and beans. They give you two flour tortillas to build your own soft taco. I added the green hot sauce for extra flavor and heat. I didn't have much leftovers but I got a box to take the rest home for a snack later on. The only downfall is that they don't have Jarritos. Mexican Post has four locations scattered about the Delaware Valley. They are individually owned and operated. This particular location was owned by the same group as the flagship location in Old City, which closed after operating for almost 25 years. I have always found Mexican Post (Wilmington, DE) to be a fine option for a casual Mexican style meal. I usually go fried chimchanga but during my most recent visit I tried the chile relleno and a taco. The cr was a little spongy and the taco crumbled upon lift-off but both tasted just fine and served as an acceptable late lunch. The waiter was very pleasant and asked numerous times if everything was okay. I was also exit greeted on my way out.
