The not so good: the food is pretty bad. The carnitas was dry and flavorless and the chili colorado was basically thin sliced beef with a can of red enchilada sauce dumped on it. I did ask our server for a side of salsa verde which I could tell was homemade and that was actually delicious. So if you're going looking for really good Mexican food, this is not the place but if you're going to have a drink and hang out with friends around a bunch of other people who seems to love the food then it's a good place for you. I would go back and get a margarita and just hang out, but I would not eat there again.

We were quickly seated and overall service was very friendly and accommodating. My margarita was very fresh tasting and the spicy salt rim was delicious. Next time, I will opt for the 16oz compared to the 12 Oz. Tne fresh juices were tasty as well as the flavor option such as tamarind. Chips were crisp and flaky. So much better than other similar places where the chips were inedible and so hard. We requested red salsa that was more like hot sauce. The salsa that accommodated the chips turned put to be salsa Verde and mayo, not our favorite. So when we were asked, we requested a salsa verde option which was the best choice overall. The $2+ cost for endless chips was worth it for me. Hubby requested the shrimp fajitas and I ordered the shrimp Mexicana platter. Good portion sizes even if flavors were not that complex. Homemade corn tortillas were very good. Overall, an enjoyable meal. Looking forward to our next visit!

It was so good I came back a second time just a day later. You can tell this place is good because the locals come to eat here. They have a bar, the place is not high fashion but what you'd expect from a small hole in the wall. The staff were ok... the food came out quick... and what I ate was awesome! The menu is full of fresh Mexican cuisine, and the mini tacos came highly recommended so I had to go for it. The shrimp and the chicken tinga were my favorites, and they do give you the choice of flour or corn tortillas - I prefer corn. They also provide complimentary chips and salsa with multiple different salsas which I really appreciated. The chips are house made and offer the perfect crunch. Drink menu is extensive but full of fresh flavors. What I love the most about this place is that they actually offer to substitute Tito's for any of the tequila in the margaritas/cocktails. I often ask to do this and I usually feel so awkward and ashamed, so I very much appreciate the fact that it's offered directly on the menu and that it's specifically Tito's, which is always my top choice. Lovely spot right near the entrance/parking garage at the Halcyon. Really wanted to try the mango cheesecake but didn't have it in me so will have to come back for some desserts!

The restaurant wasn't busy, but service moved with the urgency of a government committee reviewing paperwork. We ordered tableside guacamole early in the meal. It never arrived. To be fair, nobody ever claimed it would arrive. It was eventually removed from the bill after we reminded our server that we had ordered it sometime during the previous fiscal year. The food was... fine. My son's chicken tenders were crispy, although he described the flavor as "part chicken, part fish." Not a sentence you love hearing when chicken is the goal. The real star of the show was the kids' fries. They arrived cold, rubbery, and with the texture of something that had already lived a full and meaningful life. We sent them back and asked for fresh fries. The server returned with what appeared to be the exact same fries. I can't prove it was the same batch, but if those weren't the original fries, then they had an identical twin with the same hopes, dreams, and body temperature. After politely escalating the matter beyond what should ever be required for a french fry, fresh fries finally appeared. Remarkably, hot fries are better than cold rubber fries. Revolutionary stuff. Overall, the meal wasn't terrible, but it felt like every part of the experience required a follow up email. If the guacamole ever arrives, please let me know. I'm emotionally invested at this point.
