I came based on the reviews and stars. Yelp usually doesn't steer me in the wrong direction but theres a first time for everything. If your in the area and starving maybe but it definitely doesn't beat other taco joints. The girl in the front is seamed disinterested in taking our order. Im almost sorry I bothered her. I am from San Diego, finding good Mexican food on LI has been difficult. This place has been AMAZING. I have had the tongue tacos, fish taco (which is TDF) and a couple of the burritos. BEST MEXICAN FOOD AROUND!!!!! I've been a regular loyal customer here for years, and Reyes (the owner) knows me on a first name basis. I'm rounding it off to a 5, but I give it a 4.9 only because they don't serve fried ice cream. Everything is always served fresh to order, and I've heard they use only fresh ingredients. My new favorite lunch spot. I've been fixated on their bean and cheese burrito. There's just something about really basic, but incredible tasty food. Just beans, cheese, tortilla and love. I've ordered that every time I've visited until recently to get that "cheesy fix". My most recent trip I was more adventurous. I ordered the chicken enchiladas since last time my fiancé ordered them and I spent half my lunch drooling over them. Opted for the side of rice and beans- crazy cheap! Why not? The chicken was perfect, the sauce was flavorful but not overpowering and with a big dollop of real sour cream... Oh man I wish I was eating it right now.... Where was I? Ah yes, everything I've eaten here has been worthy of the term "delicigasm". As other reviewers have stated, the location of this gem is a dirty (a little creepy too) shopping center off route 112. They are 5 minutes from my job, and I've never waited more than 10 minutes for my food. I've gone back to work pleasantly plump with time to spare AND it usually costs me less than $6 for that dreamy burrito. Best Mexican food in the area if not in all of Long Island. The food is so good here I can hardly believe it's in Suffolk County near the south shore no less east of NYC. Unbelievable! Inside, the place is much like a Chinese take out joint. Now that Muchachos and Pura Vida are pining for the fjords, Mexican Grill 2000 is the only real Tex-Mex place left in the Pat-Med/Bellport area - and it's basically a hole in the wall. A delicious hole in the wall. Salsa bar is decked with great pico, great house salsa, passable green salsa and a heckuva great relish made with onion, pickled jalapenos and carrot. I'm not sure if the other reviewers of this place have ever actually had a GOOD burrito. We checked these guys out based on the Yelp reviews this past weekend. Chicken tacos were overcooked, dry and nearly flavorless and the steak burritos were also pretty dry with very little flavor to the meat. Chicken flautas were just a strip of dry white meat chicken rolled in a tortilla then deep fried. The only stand out was their smoky tomato salsa, but its certainly not worth going there just for that. In this area, take your business down to Salsa Salsa in Bayport for the MUCH better experience. read more

I'm a HUGE fan of tacos and living on LI we're usually forced to go to Americanized places like bubbas burrito or the worst chain restaurant ever, taco bell. MG2K is in a class all to itself, unfortunately I've only had their fish, chicken, shrimp, and al pastore tacos.... I love the fact that I work nearby so my taco fix can be cured whenever need be. So back to the amazing tacos, this is the only place I've found tacos al pastore and their fish tacos are only rivaled by Cali taquerias. I've yet to find a better burrito in LI, or NYC, therefore I rarely order anything else. The fish tacos area great, I'm more of a fan of fish steak style as opposed to beer batter. This place has the BEST FISH TACOS!!! I live in Nassau County and come all the way out to Suffolk for this place. I've tried other places in Queens but nothing compares to the tacos here. The fish tacos are battered, placed in two tortillas and topped with pico de gallo and delicious homemade tarter sauce. The other tacos are delicious as well, although my least favorite is the chicken because it can be a little dry. But seriously, eat the fish taco. The place is a little hard to see from the main road. You have to drive into a little plaza but there is parking available. Appearance of the place is not that great but the food is great so who cares. The prices are low. If you want dessert after, there is an Italian bakery nearby that we go to all the time. read more

Thanks to all of the other reviewers whose comments encouraged me to look past the "curb appeal" and go inside anyway. All I can say was "WOW!!!" The Steak Fajita Burrito is the best Mexican food I've had anywhere! It's so good I order it every time, which is preventing me from trying anything else! The salsa is delish but I will say the chips were stale the first time I got them. They we're fine the second. We will see about tonight! I call in and the food is always ready on time! The only thing I can suggest is updating the asthetics of the restaurant. That would encourage me to stay and enjoy a meal instead of always take out. read more

Arguably the best, authentic-style Mexican food you can ask for in the neighborhood. I have been going here for years and have never been disappointed. This is not some crappy knock off Southwestern-Mexican, or an Americanized Chipotle style grill. I have never been to Mexico but I'd imagine this food comes extremely close to what's cooked there. The menu is straight-forward. Tacos, burritos, quesadillas, even churros. Everything is delicious and well-made. The portion sizes are more than fair; especially their burritos. If it's your first time, the Mexican Grill Chicken Burrito is highly recommended. The meat is cooked perfect, never dry. Not sure if it's the rice, or the seasoning on the chicken, but it's packed with flavor. Not spicy though. They have a salsa stand where you can find hot, mild, & pico de gallo. The staff are friendly and they work pretty fast. The restaurant is packed out on Fridays and weekends, so pre-ordering & picking up (take-out) is ideal. This is a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant down a little alley of a shopping center on 112 (across the street/diagonal) from the Pita House and the bank. I think we've had almost everything on the menu. Their burritos are huge and delicious. Their fish tacos are amazing, I love their nachos and their chips and salsa are good too. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It's not really a place to dine in, more like a take out place. I like how nothing is sitting out. Everything is made to order so you have to wait about 10-15 mins for your food but it's worth it or you can place your order in advance & just pick it up. They're priced moderately. My BF & I spend about $20-$25 on our food. Definitely the best and most authentic Mexican food near home. read more

The food here is outstanding!!! Favors are great and temperatures are perfect! Their portions are more than generous and the cost is lower than you would expect. I only have one complaint, the location is too small to sit down and enjoy your meal, get it to go, or bring a small group of two or four. I have tried everything on their menu at least once. You have to try this place! It's in a very unassuming strip mall off of 112 but it does not disappoint. I had the shrimp burrito and a steak taco. My wife had a fish and chicken taco. Read a review in Newsday and decided to give it a try. It's a little difficult to spot but if you use the 7-11 at Woodside and Rt. 112 as a landmark it's in the parking lot just south. It was worth looking for!! So far I've tried the fish tacos (unbelievable), shrimp tacos (Bubba Gump would be proud), the steak taco (very good)and the Al Pastor taco (delicious). And I've only been there twice in the past two days. I can't wait to go back tomorrow and try a Fajita Burrito. They have a number of vegetarian selections for those who prefer to abstain from meat.
