This is a long review, but I think it's well deserved. I've had Metropolitan Services out to my house twice now. We have a brand new Bosch dishwasher, purchased from Lowes and still under manufacturer's warranty. Both times Bosch has sent out Metropolitan, and I have been very happy with the service and professionalism. The first visit was an issue with a chemical smell, a few months ago. Daniel called me ahead of time to get details on the problem and set up a time to come the very next day. He followed up with a confirmation. He arrived on time (within the given window) with another technician. Daniel was thorough in checking all possible causes of the problem (and immediately saw that the unit did not have the required "high loop" drainage in place). He also explained a number of other possible causes of the smell and had suggestions for how to correct it. He explained in detail how the unit works so I could easily understand how his suggestions could potentially resolve the issue. When he left, he said we should call him if the issue persisted after his fix and the other suggestions he had made. Today's visit was from Matt, who was the technician that accompanied Daniel on the first visit. This time the unit had simply quit, losing all power and tripping the breaker so that it could not be reset. After calling Lowes to request service, I received a prompt phone call (from Daniel) the very next morning to schedule service for the same day. Matt arrived on time (within the window) and again, was very thorough in diagnosing the problem, explaining and showing me the issue (the power box had evidence of shorts in the wires). He replaced the faulty part and had the unit running again quickly. While here, I mentioned that the previous issue had not completely gone away, and told him all the things I had tried so far to resolve it. He got Daniel on the phone, and again, went through a number of options to further solve it. Once again, I was told to call them again if the issue persists after exhausting all possibilities. I feel comfortable saying that Metropolitan Services will do everything they can to make sure my appliance is working exactly the way it is supposed to. I would absolutely recommend them for any appliance repair needs. read more

I have had a problem with my electric tankless water heater and have had trouble finding someone who could service it. I have an electrician who is helping me but technical support from the manufacturer has not been good. My electrician suggested that appliance technicians might understand the heater since they deal with high wattage heating elements. Enter Metropolitan Services. In recent years, I had their technicians at my home twice for warrantee repairs on my induction range and had been favorably impressed by their technician. When I called, I left a message and a short while later Daniel, the owner, returned my call. He told me that he does not service electric water heaters but he understands, in principal, how they work. He spent some time with me on the phone as I described my situation and he gave me some good advice as to how to approach finding a solution to the problem. When I was looking for a service technician for my water heater, most plumbers and electricians didn't respond to my inquiries. In this case, Daniel, in spite of know that he would not be getting any work out of talking with me (at least not directly), was generous with his time and knowledge. I had a great experience working with Metropolitan Services. The were prompt, courteous, and really helpful working on a dishwasher issue. Not only did they offer a lot of nice communication with scheduling providing an accurate service window but they also communicated my options in regards to parts. Through their expertise, I was able to communicate symptoms, get the parts prior to service, and accurately diagnose the issue. Lastly and most importantly, the technician quickly found the cause of the symptoms, a leaking hose and offered me service part numbers and tips so I could fix the issue myself. He correctly interpreted that I am a savvy user from my troubleshooting steps and pre-work and that I would find value in self solving. That left me with just the diagnostic service fee for coming on site and the expedited shipping for the part that I ended up not needing. I was fine with this because we had it just in case, I requested the fast shipping, and because omitting the part saved me $60. Honesty, expertise, and pleasant demeanor; hallmarks of a true professional. He even removed his boots on entry (not required) and was cool with our very large but friendly dog. We were having issues with our new stove and our warranty service call was sent to Metropolitan Services. During that visit, we realized how knowledgeable and experienced Daniel was, so when our fridge broke, we knew exactly who to call. Daniel came out quickly and was very thorough before giving his diagnosis. The issue was one of two things and was a matter of figuring out which problem it was. We were willing to be flexible as we were not interested in buying a new fridge. Daniel was so incredibly informative about how the fridge worked and what was causing the problem... We were impressed with his knowledge of not only appliances but also plumbing and electrical. Daniel took the time and solved our problem without having to buy a new appliance. I've tried other appliance services but this one's the best. On New Year's Day our dishwasher inlet pipe froze and Metropolitan came out and fixed it asap. Then our Gaggenau oven went haywire and the guy Gaggenau sent to us was a disaster. I called Metropolitan and they figured out what was wrong - they called directly to the factory and solved the problem. Then our washing machine got jammed and starting leaking on our new bathroom floor. I called Metropolitan after hours and left an urgent message. Get this. Within five minutes Daniel was on the line diagnosing the problem - he basically talked us through the repair and everything was fixed. Having just moved to a new area we had some damage to our washer and dryer. I went through Angie's list, I clicked on Metropolitan Services and shortly received a phone call from Matt to set up an appointment, very pleasant to talk with. They called the day before as promised to give a 2 hour window that they would be at my house the next day. Daniel showed up on time, removed his shoes and got to work on the diagnostic review of the damage. He was very personable and explained everything. I would highly recommend Metropolitan services. Daniel and his team are efficient, skilled, kind, and reliable. Not the kind of technicians you worry about having in your house when you are home all alone. They are very friendly and personal and we gladly invite them in. When a part of our new GE Stove broke right before Thanksgiving, Daniel went around his busy schedule to get the part he needed and drive over to our house in the middle of a snow storm to get it done. I am very impressed by Daniel's extremely professional operation. My high end range died after only 7 years, and the repair bill was formidable, but Daniel gave me helpful advice about contacting the manufacturer, and Matt in his office shared part numbers and encouraged me to look online for cheaper parts. Daniel came and installed the parts and as a result I have salvaged my range (at least for now) instead of having to buy a new one and send the old one to a landfill. We had a dishwasher hit the skids just after the warrantee expired, go figure. Our go-to plumber "fixed" it, only to have it start leaking again within a few days. My husband and I had a Bosch dishwasher installed in 2017 and could not ever get it to work. We tried other repair places without luck. Then we tried Metropolitan. Robert arrived at my house on time and diagnosed the fridge/freezer issue immediately, and fixed the problem in 5 minutes(The defrost timer was frozen/not working and made the entire fridge stuck in defrost mode). Got a recall notice from Bosch for my dishwasher and Daniel is the only licensed Bosch repair service person in the state of Maine! Fortunately he is very knowledgeable and experienced (3rd generation!). He's very professional, friendly, and prompt. Even though there was no charge for the call because it was covered under warranty (yeah Bosch!) his obvious efficiency and attention to detail make him worth paying whatever the price! My middle-aged Sears/Bosch dishwasher developed a leaky water inlet valve. I called several local repair places, only to find that they don't handle Bosch appliances. I called Metropolitan and spoke with Daniel, a friendly and courteous guy, who said that, while he'd be happy to make the repair, it's a fairly easy one that I could do myself.
