One flue went to my stove in my front room, the other to my furnace. Neither it appears, was a solid choice. I've never had anyone else work on my chimney. While the intent was to stop water entry, sealing a flue is a safety concern that I had to have addressed after a second professional inspection identified the issue. Blocking a ventilation source with masonry and sealant is not a standard solution for a drainage problem and created a hazard I was not expecting. I am sharing this so other homeowners know to verify that any repairs to their chimney or flues maintain proper safety and ventilation. I would recommend getting a second opinion on any structural "fixes" involving your flues to ensure the home remains safe.

It doesn't seem plausible to me that it would be necessary for them to be there since the fire department would be too busy dealing with a fire to talk to them. I realize that going to a fire is far more exciting than meeting with a prospective client. These last minute cancellations have happened to me twice before with other companies I have made appointments with in the past year. It must be clearly understood by the managers of these companies that people often times have to take time off from work and deal with other inconveniences to meet with workmen and last minute cancellations are unacceptable.
