These guys are top tier. As a broke a** college student, these guys always make sure to take care of my suits, pants, and everything else. I took 3 suits, 4 shirts, and 4 pants for a total of 89$. To me and compared to other places around, this is amazing. The dude who runs the front ain't the friendliest, but sure as hell will get you your clothes to you whenever you need it. I had to get my stuff done in 2 days time, easy peasy for them. I've been going there since my sophomore year and I'm now a senior, so check them out. I noticed all of my buttons were ruined. Though this occurred in December I expected some kind of "we're sorry, we will replace the buttons." But I got none of that. Instead the owner was defensive. He said "how long will we be responsible for this?" He totally disregarded everything I said. Again, I know this occurred in December but we live in Pittsburgh where it snows and rains and the weather gets really cold so the coat wasn't appropriate to wear until recently since the weather has been nice. Last week was my first time wearing the coat since I got it cleaned and I noticed the buttons were ruined and the owners attitude about it sucked. He stated there is some sign indicating that they aren't responsible for buttons, which I understand, but it was my very first time using a cleaners and I didn't see the sign. I haven't been to a dry cleaners in years and I didn't know who to go to since the one I went to last time was closed. I remember having gone to them before, so I made my way down to their address. On the outside of the shop it says 24 hr., same day sesrvice. When I went in to drop off my coat the woman says, "so I can have it done for you by Monday." I am thinking, it says same day service and she is telling me a date that is five days away. This is if they don't include the weekend as business days because it was Thursday. I thought that was a bit odd, but I just said o.k., thinking maybe it will get the extra attention that it needs. When I got my coat back it looked clean, although there was still some faint stains that maybe won't come out because of the age of the coat. I think they did an alright job, but not exceptional. Also, it kind of hurts that the customer service is pretty lax. They don't say anything to you, make any suggestions, fill you in on things about your clothing items and are not very friendly. The lady seemed like she would bite my head off if given the chance. I think I will most likely use another service for dry cleaning in the future. read more

Metropolitan Cleaners is the Bomb Diggity. They are literal lifesavers. I was the best man at my brother's wedding recently. So I took my tux to them to be cleaned. And it was really soiled. It had been in a trash bag since the last time I used it a couple of years ago. It had dried vomit on it, dog poop, motor oil and nacho cheese. The wedding was at 5 p.m. and I dropped the tux off at 11 a.m. that morning. The owner said, "no problem, I'll have it spick n span n all at by 2 p.m." So I figured I'd just go to the bar down the street and get primed for the wedding. I went to a little joint and got turnt on Popov vodka & soda. I was in the bag by 1 p.m. I crawled back to the dry cleaners. But before I got there I stopped for a perogie to go. As I got into the cleaners I wet myself, choked on the perogie and passed out in front of the counter. The last thing I remember before I passed out is the owner, I think his name is Tom, giving me the hind lick manuver and a chunk of perogie went flying across the waiting area. He then gave me mouth to mouth CPR for about a half hour. I'm told that he drug me behind the counter, stripped my clothes off, cleaned me up, put my tux on me, then loaded me up in his delivery van and took me to my brother's wedding at the Primanti's in the Strip District. When I came to, the preacher was pronouncing my brother and his husband married and I was being held steady by Tom the owner. We invited him to stay for the reception, which he did. Later that evening I was able to return the favor. The owner got rip roaring drunk at the reception on Iron City beer and shots of Hennessy. So at about midnight, even though I was turnt again, I drove the owner back to the dry cleaners, got his keys, opened the door and drug him to the back and laid him down on top of some dirty laundry. I must have passed out too because I woke up Sunday morning to the owner rifling through my wallet looking for cash so he could ring up my bill for the tux cleaning. I had no cash on me but I had my Visa card and he ran it for the fee. He charged me $350.00 which I initially thought was a little strong but for the expedited job and him saving my life and getting to the wedding on time, I thought it was fair. Dropped off an expensive dress to be cleaned after a wedding. There were only water mark stains from where a clear drink had been spilled. I get it back, there is something sticky and glue like on the flutter sleeve and a white chalky stain on the bodice, neither of which were there when I dropped it off. They offer to clean it again, I hesitantly left it there terrified that they were going to ruin this dress that I love that I spent a good bit of money on. Especially when the owner sat there and repeatedly ignored me when I asked him to please not roughly scratch at it with his fingernail because the fabric pulls easily. Picked it up today. It's an off the shoulder flutter sleeve dress. They had it hanging like a tank top, so all of the flutter parts are super wrinkled as well as the entire top of the back of the dress...where, not even surprised, there are a bunch of pulls that weren't there when I dropped the dress off. The woman offered to take it back and steam it out, but I said no, she then snapped at me, "I'm trying to help you." Well, you're a dry cleaner by trade, I got my dress back not once, but TWICE with more problems than it had when I dropped it off. I DO NOT TRUST YOU TO TOUCH IT. Seriously rude and POOR service at this place. We have been using this cleaners for about 18 months, only because we can walk to drop off and pick up clothing and we bring stuff in almost every week. They have, to date, lost shirts and completely messed up a simple hemming job. I dropped off two pairs of pants. Said that I needed to have the blue pants hemmed with the SAME INSEAM as the grey pants. We got them back and they had LET OUT the hem on the grey pants. WHAT!?! Okay, crazy to let a pair of dress pants out to have 1/8 inch hem but whatever, they made a mistake. All we really wanted was for them to fix the error and make it right. My husband called and spoke to the owner, who said to bring them in and they'd fix THEIR error. This am, my husband took the pants (that now, of course BOTH needed hemmed) to the cleaners where the woman owner was TOTALLY rude and belligerent with him. Said they did exactly what they were told to do....DEFINITELY NOT. She also told him that she was not going to mark, or measure, the pants (because now they were both WRONG and way too long) and that the measuring would be between him & their seamstress & that they'd have to see about calling her to possibly come back in. Metropolitan Cleaners is a great neighborhood dry cleaner. The business is family-run and decidedly old school, with either the husband, wife, or elderly mother always stationed behind the counter. Although they never seem to remember my name they do know my dog, Radar, and keep a box of dog treats at the ready for him and other canine customers. Of course, the reason I go to Metropolitan is to have my clothes dry cleaned, and the quality of work is high, especially considering the low cost. Clothes are generally ready by the end of the week, and can even be cleaned on the same day they're dropped off. Tailoring services are also available, and although I've never had major alternations done there, I have had some patches sewn in and hems taken up, and the work is always well done. If you live in the South Side, Metropolitan Cleaners is a great local business to patronize. They even sell Girl Scout cookies in February! read more

I will NEVER return to this cleaner. Poor quality & poor service. I'm all about supporting local businesses, but not for the service that Metropolitan Cleaners provides. I took a comforter in to be cleaned, and when I got it back, there was a rip in the corner of the comforter (which was not there before). I took it back, and left my number for them to call me back. I called back later that day, and the owner said that they will repair it. I asked for a refund, and she said they do that sometimes (whatever that means). She did not once apologize for ripping my comforter. All she said was- Well it's not new.. It's a year old. Anyway, DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING TO METROPOLITAN CLEANERS, especially if you don't want to pay $30 to get your comforter barely cleaned & ripped on the edge. DO NOT GO HERE. Not only did Metropolitan Cleaners ruin my clothes, but they then continued to make up the most ridiculous lies regarding the situation. I never received even an apology for the clothes being completely ruined. When I picked up my clothes, they had black soot-like marks ALL over them, not sure what it even was. They cleaned them again, the marks were still there. They then continued to tell me I told them the spots where there when I dropped the clothes off, which was a complete lie. They literally made up multiple stories to try to redeem themselves in the scenario. NEVER take your clothes here. Rudest people I have EVER come in contact with in my life. Dropped off a blazer to be dry cleaned. Took it out of the bag this morning and all three wooden buttons are missing from the front of the garment. Apparently the manager feels that she is not responsible for buttons. hmmm. They were all there when I dropped the blazer off. I never write these reviews but I have had enough of these cleaners. This place is very convenient to my work and so I have continued to go there even after I was initially displeased but they continue to ruin and/or not really clean my clothes. I will be going out of my way to find a new dry cleaning place because it's really not worth my money to have my stuff ruined time and time again. I hate to do this because it's a locally-owned business and they seem like really nice people when I'm in there, but the quality of the service they provide is really bad. read more
