I called on a Monday afternoon to see if they had a spot open for that evening. Originally they did not, but I got a call back later saying that the optometrist would be able to squeeze me in. Great! They are located in an easily accessible location downtown, and they have great store hours (open weekdays till 7 and Saturday till 4). Makes it easy to book an appt if you work 9 to 5. The store is clean and organized. You can see the staff making good efforts to clean any surfaces that have been touched. I had an eye exam with Dr. Huang and she was lovely and made the experience very comfortable, as did her assistants. The store has a good selection of glasses, and they have some deals going on so a lens plus frame is under $400. The best part is, they are able to bill my insurance directly so I don't have to go through the hassle myself. Overall I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a glasses store/optometrist downtown! read more

I booked a full eye exam appointment around 5:30. Dr. Huang seems really rush to get off work, no manual eye check, the eye sight check only took less than 1 mins. I told her my concern that my eyes become more sensitive recently, that's why I'm doing the check. And she didn't even let me finish, she gave me a eye drop and ended the session. This is the second time I did the exam at this place, I'm satisfied with my first time, because the doctor not only gave me a fully manual check( with dilation), but also a careful eyesight check. So I booked the most expensive ($198) exam package again this time. But what I got is really unprofessional and disappointed. Will not come back to this place again. This place is fully deserving of its 5 Stars. The doctor was friendly, thorough and explained everything the whole way through. I learned some interesting stuff like did you know that yes light eyes let more light in but you can also have a light or dark retina that lets more or less light in so if you have light eyes but a dark retina you might not be light sensitive which might mean you don't wear sunglasses and your eyes can get damaged? If you don't, know you do! I saw Sarabjit as the doctor but the girls at the front were also super friendly! read more

I was met by a friendly staff and my wait was brief while the Dr prepared for my examination. The process of the examination was clearly explained and the Dr was very pleasant and appeared very knowledgeable and thorough. While there, I got the assistance of one of the staff with the selection of my new frames; she was patient and most helpful. If you need your eyes tested, this is definitely the place to come (especially if you live downtown or close to University and Wellington) I was able to make an appointment quickly at a very convenient time. The staff here are very friendly and informative and they were able to bill my work plan directly. The optometrist I had (Gavin) took his time, and explained in detail what I could do in the future to keep my eyes healthy and offered some suggestions. He did attempt to sell me on any glasses or contact lense and gave me a sample of an eye moisture cloth and free contact lense case. Loved my visit to the Metro Eye Care! Everyone was very helpful and accommodating. Needed to get new contacts ASAP as I ran out unexpectedly and did not have a fresh prescription. They managed to fit me in for an appointment on the following day. Dr. Bastiampillai was amazing - very thorough and understanding. II went in today for consultation and for my eye exam check up and everyone welcome to be really nicely and everything went perfectly well. The doctor told me that I will use certain drops for my eyes because my eyes doesn't have a really good vision... and I will be using this for two weeks and then after two weeks I'm gonna go see him so he can prescribe me perfect contact lenses so I can see again really good. Yes I really want to give them a good review because they were quick they were professional and they were really kind. So after two weeks I will come back here and I will give you the review how the contact lenses are working and everything else. I definitely recommend this place to everyone. read more

Really really sweet staff and clean, accessible office. I was visiting Toronto from NYC and forgot my contact lenses. After trying to wear my dailies for a few days in a row (this didn't work out very well), I called Metro Eye Care asking if they could sell me some of their samples. The awesome owner/manager of the store was nice enough to give me a few pairs of contacts for free once I showed him my prescription. The whole staff seemed amazing and if I'm ever lucky enough to move to Toronto I'll make this place my go to spot for all things eye care. Thanks again guys! read more

I chose this place because they are supposed to do direct insurance billing, which was important as a student. I made my appointment, arrived there on time, get my eye test done (which costed $120 well above other places) and when I come out they tell me that they are unable to do direct billing because they don't have the right system..... Anyhow, I was already there and committed to paying for the exam anyway so I went ahead and ordered glasses. The total came to about $850 and I paid the full amount right there. They told me glasses would be there in a maximum of 5 days. I was traveling two weeks later so I needed my glasses ASAP. A week passed, I came over just to do over that the glasses were scratched so they had to go back. I waited another week... Again, glasses came back scratched and had to be returned. Third week I told them I had to travel and I asked for a refund, to which they of course rushed the process and got my glasses back in two days. The glasses were okay but not a great fit... I think the lady measured my nose bridge wrong. So I asked them to tighten the legs. They did. Two weeks later they were lose again... So I had to go back. I have been back 3 times!!!! On top of the other three times I was already there!!!! I would recommend you go elsewhere. Service isn't great and products are overpriced. On top of not being able to meet minimum requirements in terms of timing and such. Edit September 9. *** The establishment called me after this review to apologize and offer a refund (glasses only). I taked to Dr. Sam, who was very polite and apologized for the inconvenience. I then returned the glasses and got a refund. I had a really amazing experience. They fit two of us in last-minute when we had a one-person slot, and the staff explained every step of the process. I liked getting to see pictures of my own retina! Love that they let me come back a week later for dilation when I explained that the bright sun made my eyes ache. As far as I can tell, the prices are really good as well -- and they said that they price-match Clearly Contacts on lenses, which is a big deal when you wear them as directed! read more

I visited Metro Eye Care several weeks ago and the service was excellent. I ended up with blurry vision and was referred to this eye care clinic. The staff were friendly, able to answer my questions and did preliminary tests quickly and efficiently. The doctor did a thorough eye exam and was able to determine that my blurry vision was attributed to chronic dry eye. He explained the diagnosis, showed a diagram of the eye and where it was affected, and proscribed an easy to follow regimen. The doctor was knowledgable, kind, professional and very efficient. I really didn't think Metro Eye Care would be able to help me. I'm so glad I was wrong! I was in Toronto on business when what I thought was a small eye irritation suddenly turned into a serious infection. The pain and discomfort kept me up half the night, but I knew it would be more than another full day before I could get treatment at home. Metro opens at 9:00 AM, I had to attend a meeting from 9:00 to 10:30, and my departing train was scheduled for 2:20 PM, so I had serious doubts that I could get an exam and treatment. But just in case -- really, in desperation -- I left them a voicemail at 7:30, explained my situation, and said I would drop in after my meeting, just in case they could fit me into their calendar. I arrived around 11:00, they had me seated in the exam room within 15 minutes, and I had my medication from a nearby pharmacy 45 minutes later. The assistant who did the initial exam was reassuring, steady, professional. The doctor was quick but still patient with my questions, focused, knowledgeable, informative, and gentle (this matters with an infected and swollen eye!). A day later, I'm starting to see some improvement, and that's in large part because Metro Eye Care helped me get ahead of the infection, rather than giving it another day to dig in and get worse. I really felt that I lucked in by finding them when it was really urgent to get timely help. Just one regret: If I had been any less stressed, I would have asked for names, so that I could thank everyone properly! read more
