Holy cow...never been here before because friends said it was too crowded. Went tonight during the rain and was seated right away. Josh was our server and was very friendly and knowledgeable. Talked me into chicken and waffles which I tried once before somewhere else. Didn't really "get it" so he explained how to eat it. You get strawberry butter and put maple syrup on it - but here's the kicker. you mix Louisiana hot sauce into the syrup and drizzle it over both the chicken and waffles! It was incredible!!! Great food options! Everything is delicious, but I think their best dish is the meatloaf. I even said I would never eat meatloaf at a restaurant.. but then I tried a bite. The slice it and I think they put it on the grill to give it a nice sear. It is so flavorful and delicious! I ordered the eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns for my son and it was an adult portion (which is great so I could mooch) This is one of those places you have to go to a few times and try different things. Service can be a little slow at really busy times, but it is a not a terrible inconvienence. For my family of 3, we spent a little over $44 with tip. I should've gone to Waffle House... I picked to come here for brunch after a good gym workout because of all the great reviews for this place. Maybe they decided today to pick one customer's meal experience to ruin and I was the chosen one. I'll just say this now: I won't be coming back. If it weren't for my server being so nice, I'd give this place one star. She could tell I was not happy and I think she felt bad for me. (She did take off the lousy coffee from my tab, so I guess that means something. So, I arrived here at 10:45 AM on Good Friday. As expected, it was crowded. But the counter seats were mostly open, so I made my way over. The immovable stool was uncomfortable the distance between it and the counter left me hunching over to reach the counter. I'm 6'1", so something like this shouldn't have even been an issue but it was. Not only that, the counter was sloping downwards towards me, so I felt like I had to be careful with my coffee so that it didn't pour over on my side (which almost happened once). At least I had a good (very warm) view of the kitchen. I ordered my food almost right away because I already knew what I wanted. The guy to my right sat down a couple minutes after me and received his order of eggs and biscuits & gravy in roughly 10 minutes. My order of corned beef hash and grits took 30. Not only that, they didn't even start my order until about 10 minutes before I was finally served. And when I got my order, they forgot the grits and gave me hash browns instead. I took a bite and remembered, "Wait... I ordered grits!" So I let the server know and she said it'd be a couple minutes. They forgot to provide me a spoon in my little packet, so I had to flag someone down for that (because I'm not stirring hot coffee with my finger). The food was NOT worth waiting 30 minutes for. They overlooked the corned beef hash, the coffee was bland, and the poached eggs were also overcooked. But the finishing blow was the grits. Look, I've been eating grits all my life and can tell you they're not supposed to be soupy. And these were cheesy grits, but with the amount of cheese on them I felt cheated. I added hot sauce to it to try to save a little but they were a lost cause. I had about four spoonfuls of my "soup" and pushed it aside. The only thing that came out right was the toast, but even with that they forgot to provide any butter, so I had to wave down another server for that. Oh, I did take a couple bites of the hash browns since she just let me have that for free as a kind gesture for my having to wait too long for food. Those were actually pretty good. The server offered me a to-go cup for coffee and a new order of grits. I kindly declined both. She asked how my food was and I was honest: "It was okay," which I knew she interpreted as, "This meal sucked," which it did. Maybe everyone else will have a pleasant dining experience. I sure hope so. The staff all seem friendly with their southern hospitality. If I felt down and needed a stranger to be my friend for a few minutes, I'd come here. I went here on Saturday just to try something new. Little to my surprise, this became a favorite of mine instantly. The chicken and waffles were one of the best I've ever had. The spicy syrup went so well with the chicken and waffle (also to my surprise, who knew? My boyfriend also was in love with his sandwich. We came here shortly after it opened. As expected, it was crowded. The entrance was very packed with people. There were just a few chairs and lots of people waiting with almost no room to walk around. If you don't hear your name called, they'll go outside to find you. On cold days, you don't want to wait outside. So, I understood why everyone was inside. I fell prey to the cliched chicken and waffles dish. I kind of wish I just got the fried chicken dinner but one of my companions expressed an interest in it and the shrimp and grits. So, I fell on my sword and ordered the c&w. It's a healthy portion and the chicken is pretty good. The waffle was forgettable and made me really regret not getting the fried chicken dinner. What concerned me most was their "signature sweet and spicy sauce." LITERALLY, your server brings a small dish and syrup, asks you for the Louisiana hot sauce bottle on your table, pours some syrup in the dish, opens and shakes out a couple of drops of hot sauce in the syrup and stirs it with a small spoon so it no longer looks like some foreign substance accidentally dripped in your plate of syrup but someone swirled it around so you couldn't scoop it out. Not appetizing. The shrimp and grits had some decent flavors but the sauce was so evaporated that it congealed on the plate. You could almost cut it like you could the block of grits. The fish and chips were nothing special. The bathroom is in the back and on the way there, we noticed that there was just a massive amount of room with no tables. Chairs were lining the wall and it seemed like a spot for employees to sit and take a break... and watch diners? Weird. Walking out of the restaurant from the bathroom was hilarious because the tables were placed so close together that it allowed barely one-way traffic on any path I could have chosen. On the positive side, the service was nice and they run your credit card payment through on a handheld device at the table. All in all, I'm in no rush to return. read more

I usually come here for breakfast but today I decided to just order a bowl of Chili and a House Salad. The salad was fine and the Chili looked really good with a great combination of meat and beans. Then I tasted it. All I could taste was salt. I ask my waiter if they made it from scratch and he said yes. Apparently this is how they make it. This restaurant is by far one of my families favorites! The staff is so incredibly friendly and very attentive! Their food is delicious and they go out of their way to accommodate you. I always get their tender plate fried (their chicken always comes out juicy and tender even after frying) with onion rings and Mac-n-cheese, it's my favorite oh and you have to dip your tenders in their creole mustard this plate comes with (ah-may-zing)! The rest of the family normally gets pancakes, toast & bacon, omelette, grits, English muffin. We've had their chicken sand-which, Philly cheesesteak, fried chicken, burger, their fries are seasoned really good, my husband has tried almost all their omelettes. I just don't have anything negative to say. We really love this restaurant and the staff! Oh and during this COVID time they actually have people distanced which we appreciate too!
