Metro diner was my daughter's choice for brunch on her birthday. The Trussville location is easy to locate and in a centralized area. We arrived and were seated immediately which I was grateful with it being a busy Sunday. They have a great kids menu with most items ranging from $7-$8. The main menu has a large selections and I decided on the chicken and waffles. It is a very large portion size..4 pieces of chicken! It was very hot and delicious. Of course I had leftovers as well for later. Good birthday choice!

Well..... The food was excellent. Cooked to perfection and seasoned wonderfully. The portion size was large. Enough for dinner!! Our server JUSTIN was so knowledgeable of menu items and very attentive but not over doing it! A big winner in my book! You get the diner feel soon as you walk in. Next time we go I am sitting at the counter so we can get that cool authentic diner experience. 100% will recommend and return.

Incredible service and the food is 100% worth the wait! The best green beans I've ever had in love you life!

I had a late lunch at Metro diner and it was so good! I ordered a bunch of different food to try and taste, and everything was so yummy!! The staff was also really, really really nice, so I would definitely be back there just for the good service and vibes.

We visited here with friends for breakfast. We had a wait on a Saturday morning. I got the Bacon Avocado Bowl, which was very tasty. It is, however, definitely a rich breakfast. Hubby got an omelet, which he also enjoyed. We would return when in the area.

I was there for early dinner today, since the last time I have been there when they first opened, I ordered Bissell Breakfast and I replaced the hash brown with the other kind stringy like. Love this dish it's filling. Service is fast and ambience is nice, not much people there tonight which I like coz normally it's jam-packed with people and no place to sit.

I'm in Birmingham for a couple of days and this cute little place came up on yelp for breakfast. The employees are warm and very very friendly. They go over and beyond to make the food to order. It's a must do if you are in the area.

Chicken and Belgian Waffle( (look at that undercooked waffle)

Yelp, it's New Year's Eve! We gotta grab some food before everything shuts down. I got my taste buds set on a delicious Belgium waffle at Metro diner! So, here we are. I'm so excited! I never get the waffle, but these buds are set. We are seated quickly, although you are jumping. You got a crowd. Everybody wants to eat before these stores close and it's early, before lunchtime. Tesslyn, is our server, she sweet. Bae and I ordered the chicken and waffle to share, because we know it's huge. Easy peasy you would think? Food comes out, CHICKEN is pristine. Golden fried deliciousness that's hot and fresh. Yummy! On the other hand, the waffle, ridiculous. This is why I am here! Girl, you brought half of a waffle out and said start with this, the other is coming. You trying to be nice, I get it, but where they do that at? Then, the half waffle is cold, chicken piping hot, can't even eat it yet. We send cold waffle back, you bring expected waffle out half done, gross. Yuck! You trying to make it up and order another one, I request mine to be extra crisp. How long does it take the waffle to cook? By the time that waffle got ready, you decided to bring it out in a go box and said, "you finished with your chicken now, you might as well take it. And, I did. Best waffle ended up in a go box instead of our stomachs. We love Metro, so we'll be back, first time on a true screw up. But, Imma leave that waffle alone though.

We came here on a rainy afternoon for lunch. I was actually looking forward to eating here because I haven't in a long time. I was debating between the classic burger and the club sandwich so I went with the club sandwich. My daughter ordered the boneless buffalo wings with a side of fries and my friend ordered the BLT. We were seated quickly and our waitress took our drink order. I happen to look to the left because I was sitting right by the window and there was a half dead fly. He was on his back yet still moving around I ended up spraying it with hand sanitizer, and it fell to the ground. Our order came out in a timely manner. My daughter enjoyed her boneless buffalo wings. I did not enjoy the club sandwich at all. The turkey and ham on the sandwich. Had a funny taste to it. It just didn't taste fresh. The onion rings would've been good if they were hot but they were cold. My friend said his BLT was OK. It was lacking something but he didn't know what it was. I asked for mayo and mustard and they gave me one pack of each. I ate some of the sandwich, but didn't finish it because the taste of the turkey and ham just kept throwing me off. I should've said something to our waitress, but I didn't and that was my fault. I'm not sure if I would visit this establishment again.

Today I decided to stop by metro diner to pick up dinner for the family. I ordered ahead and still had to wait 30 minutes to receive my order. I wish I would have checked my order before I made it home. What I received looked nothing like what I ordered. The steak tips looked so juicy and moist on the website. Unfortunately my meal ws not decisions as the picture I ordered from. The steak is not a quality cut of meat. Definitely lacks tenderness and juiciness. What i ordered vs. What i received.

My first 5 star review of my 'Bama trip, and hopefully not my last (we're going out to dinner tonight). Breakfast is one of my mom and mine's favorite meals to enjoy, and Metro did not disappoint. Like (nearly) every restaurant, the customer service is so welcoming and engaging....and genuine. Answer questions, drinks refilled, and served with a sweet conversation. Everyone who talked to us was engaging. I ordered the Fried chicken and biscuit benedict. The chicken remained juicy, the eggs were poached to perfection, and the biscuits were buttery. My mom shared her pancakes, and they too were as perfect as a diner pancake order should be. This diner is true Americana at its finest. The dinner menu had stuff like meatloaf, pot roast, etc. Wish we had diners like this back in California....

I love Metro Diner! What I didn't know until recently is that they serve brunch here too! My boyfriend and I came here for Sunday brunch a few weeks ago. It was pretty packed, but we were able to find seating luckily at the counter. There were so many yummy options to choose from! He went with the Meat Lover's omelette, and I got the fried chicken benedict. Both came with a delicious side of hashbrowns. The fried chicken benedict was so perfect! The chicken's texture paired so well with the eggs, biscuit, and the sauce. That sauce. Oh. My. Goodness. I don't know where hollaindaise sauce has been all my life, but it was pure perfection! I'm going to have to start getting eggs benedict whenever I go out for brunch now!

This place is my type of vibe!…read more Trattoria ZaZa has been on my list of places to stop at for several years. Parking often deters me but after attending the Italian Festival earlier that day, we had a craving for pizza. I ordered the combo that includes 2 slices of the day with salad. Since I wasn't overly hungry, I offered him one of my slices and he added another slice to the order. We paid and were given a number to place on our selected table. Jazzy music played in the background while we waited on our order to be brought to the table. The natural lighting, while beautiful, made it a little warm in the building. One of the waitresses propped the door open that leads to the restrooms (which are in the hallway near the elevators) in order for cooler air to make its way in. That wasn't a deal breaker, but do be aware of that on warmer days. Our food came out after a short wait. I kept my 3 cheese slice, and gave him the pepperoni one. The cheeses were very rich and the salad, while simple without the frills, was perfectly sized and drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette that was just the right amount. While I enjoyed my meal very much and the ambiance, he wasn't overly impressed with his. He didn't want the fresh herbs on his slices and knocked all of them off, lol. He's a simple guy with simple taste. This is definitely a place I will be revisiting with one of my girlfriends and not him next time as he didn't appreciate what ZaZA had to offer. Everyone we encountered was helpful and courteous. Our food, including drinks, was around $28, which was not bad for a cute, eclectic spot downtown. If you haven't been, make sure to try them out soon. Just don't wait as long as I did to visit!

Where to start? Went on a weekend, place was packed. The…read moreBad: 1. SLOW. Waited in a line inside of 4 people in front of me. There was someone at the podium at the end who i thought was a server. Was not. After a 15 minute wait (why did it take that long?), we got to the podium person. And found out they were there to take our order, not seat us. Can only assume the 15 min delay was because people were trying to figure out what to order. No signage anywhere saying, please have what you want ready while you wait in line. 2. No menus, anywhere. Yes they can be printed and people in line could take one and figure out what they want. Yes, the menu could be put on the wall behind the server in large lettering. But no, they make you scan a QR code on the wall and view the menu on your phone, so that's inconvenient and a bit obtuse. 3. When we finally place an order for pizza, was told that, "they dont serve pizzas on the weekend, but we could order their "brunch pizzas", instead. Which on the counter, was small anemic cut slices of thick bready pizzas on the cutting board/table. Those each were $8.50 according to the menu. Figure the math of 2 small slices of pizza per person for 2 people vs just ordering a large pizza. But they don't serve pizza during brunch- Trattoria literally has the word "Pizza" in their last name- twice actually- yet you have to order a nearly $9 slice of pizza sitting out on a table for who knows how long, and of the flavor of their choice, not yours. It was flat out insulting to go to a pizza based establishment and be told they won't serve whole pizzas. We left and went to Uptown to a pizzaria there, and had a really good whole pizza, salad, dessert, and drinks, and all for half the price then if we had gone to Trattoria. Wanted to give this place a chance for years, but did not work out the way i had expected it to.

But I'm sorry the food? (In my case shrimp and grits) was NOT GOOD. And don't get me wrong, it wasn't a horrible flavor, but the flavors it did have were terrible. First the grits are not smooth at all. Like they aren't super course but they definitely could have been cooked down more. And they had little seasoning. And that's being generous. Then the "creole" sauce on top? Can we ask the audience what they consider creole? Because that was just pure tomato sauce. Like straight out a can, had to be. No way someone cooked that sauce from scratch or even with creole seasonings or typical additives I'm sorry I just refuse to believe it. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST... 5 shrimp??? You can't be serious. I could understand 5 shrimp if they're the huge jumbo ones but these are smedium at best. Like I feel BAMBOOZLED because no way I paid 24$ for 5 shrimp and maybe 1.5 cups of grits. But imma be honest I'm not surprised the food wasn't that good. Any place that puts on the bottom "we can't refund for food you don't like" that should tell you everything you need to know.
