Lunch with wife, yeah we do that a lot. Metro Diner, we'll be going back. Good comfort food, excellent service, clean and tasteful decor. Wife had Pot Roast, was a special on their menu board. More than she could eat. I had the Shepherds Pie, which I would definitely order again, but next time pretty sure I'll try a different menu item. We enjoyed our meal at Metro Diner. My most recent visit was for National Pancake Day. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a featured special for the day. After ordering a basic Short Stack with a side of sausage links, I noticed that the wall had a list of specials and flagged down the server to ask if it was too late to change to the Strawberry Shortcake version that was listed there. She checked and the kitchen said they could change it. Just before bringing it to my table the server also confided that apparently the Strawberry Shortcake version was no longer supposed to be on the menu but I was lucky they had everything still. I thought it was supposed to also include whipped cream (since they had already erased the chalkboard at that point, I couldn't be sure), however they were still pretty tasty even if not a looker per se. First of all, the waitress was excellent from the time I walked in with the biggest smile. I alternated my meal and it was ok she made it right. She didn't cook, so it was just ok for me. My omelette was all ham and very little cheese. My cousin said her food was not as good as it usually is when they good. The place was crowded and pretty clean. Well, this was my first visit, and I went by on a Saturday at 12:30. They had a steady crowd, but we did not have to wait very long. The menu had a very good selection for breakfast, lunch, and dinner main entrées. I kept it very basic with turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. You cannot go wrong with that dish. I will give this meal a 3/5 the hash browns had no favor. My husband got the chicken finger biscuit with egg fried hard the chicken finger. I give it a 4/5 the chicken favor was on point. If you're in the Trussville Alabama area you definitely wanna go by. Metro diner was my daughter's choice for brunch on her birthday. The Trussville location is easy to locate and in a centralized area. We arrived and were seated immediately which I was grateful with it being a busy Sunday. They have a great kids menu with most items ranging from $7-$8. The main menu has a large selections and I decided on the chicken and waffles. It is a very large portion size..4 pieces of chicken! It was very hot and delicious. First time at this location last week. Outside was nice with a covered patio, but it was super hot, so we sat inside. Our waitress was nice. Our food was fine. My son got cannoli pancakes with hashbrowns and I got shepherds pie. He liked his and it was a huge portion. Mine was ok, but the meat was not great. It was like cheap burger patties chopped up in it. My biggest problem was that all of the air vents in the ceiling were coved in mold! This is a health concern & should be addressed immediately. We came here on a rainy afternoon for lunch. I was actually looking forward to eating here because I haven't in a long time. I was debating between the classic burger and the club sandwich so I went with the club sandwich. My daughter ordered the boneless buffalo wings with a side of fries and my friend ordered the BLT. We were seated quickly and our waitress took our drink order. I happen to look to the left because I was sitting right by the window and there was a half dead fly. He was on his back yet still moving around I ended up spraying it with hand sanitizer, and it fell to the ground. Our order came out in a timely manner. My daughter enjoyed her boneless buffalo wings. I did not enjoy the club sandwich at all. The turkey and ham on the sandwich. Had a funny taste to it. It just didn't taste fresh. The onion rings would've been good if they were hot but they were cold. My friend said his BLT was OK. It was lacking something but he didn't know what it was. I asked for mayo and mustard and they gave me one pack of each. I ate some of the sandwich, but didn't finish it because the taste of the turkey and ham just kept throwing me off. I never get the waffle, but these buds are set. We are seated quickly, although you are jumping. You got a crowd. Everybody wants to eat before these stores close and it's early, before lunchtime. Tesslyn, is our server, she sweet. Bae and I ordered the chicken and waffle to share, because we know it's huge. Easy peasy you would think? Food comes out, CHICKEN is pristine. Golden fried deliciousness that's hot and fresh. Yummy! On the other hand, the waffle, ridiculous. This is why I am here! Girl, you brought half of a waffle out and said start with this, the other is coming. You trying to be nice, I get it, but where they do that at? Then, the half waffle is cold, chicken piping hot, can't even eat it yet. We send cold waffle back, you bring expected waffle out half done, gross. Yuck! You trying to make it up and order another one, I request mine to be extra crisp. How long does it take the waffle to cook? My first 5 star review of my 'Bama trip, and hopefully not my last (we're going out to dinner tonight). Breakfast is one of my mom and mine's favorite meals to enjoy, and Metro did not disappoint. Like (nearly) every restaurant, the customer service is so welcoming and engaging....and genuine. Answer questions, drinks refilled, and served with a sweet conversation. Everyone who talked to us was engaging. I ordered the Fried chicken and biscuit benedict. The chicken remained juicy, the eggs were poached to perfection, and the biscuits were buttery. My mom shared her pancakes, and they too were as perfect as a diner pancake order should be. This diner is true Americana at its finest. I love Metro Diner! What I didn't know until recently is that they serve brunch here too! My boyfriend and I came here for Sunday brunch a few weeks ago. It was pretty packed, but we were able to find seating luckily at the counter. There were so many yummy options to choose from! He went with the Meat Lover's omelette, and I got the fried chicken benedict. Both came with a delicious side of hashbrowns. The fried chicken benedict was so perfect! The chicken's texture paired so well with the eggs, biscuit, and the sauce. That sauce. Oh. My. Goodness. I don't know where hollaindaise sauce has been all my life, but it was pure perfection! Metro Diner is a great little place to eat all the meals of your day. It's a chain, but consistently good. The menu is vast and full of options for everyone. We have gone for breakfast and lunch and never been disappointed. I like the breakfast burger, as well as the spicy honey chicken biscuit (it really does have a kick). The omelets are great. The fish and chips are good, made with fresh battered fish and crispy fries. The club is massive, I mean MASSIVE!!!! Bring your appetite if you are looking for the club. So no issues with the food or grease. However, the floors were a disaster zone once again. It was 2:30-3:00, right after lunch rush. Staff was diligently refilling sugar pats, and kicking trash out of their way as they went. I've never been here before and I'll make SURE I come back again! This place is great! The menu is very accommodating for any person's appetite with a lot of things to choose from. I chose the fried chicken dinner and I'm so glad I did! The atmosphere is very inviting with a very clean dining room. The kitchen area is open which I thought might be a noise issue, but it wasn't. All of the staff were very friendly and quick to suggest food if you've never been there before. The prices are very reasonable for the amount food you get! Just let me say, when I tell you that this was the most perfectly cooked fried chicken, I'm not kidding. The plate I received was enormous with a half a bird of fried chicken, outstandingly done homemade mashed potatoes with the best gravy I've ever tasted, great cole slaw with a homemade biscuit on the side! I'm so glad I waited to eat today until we got here, because you better have a big appetite! The chicken was the most tender and juicy I've ever had! It put Popeyes and KFC to shame! The potatoes alone could've been a meal and I did my best to eat every bite! I really wanted some of that excellent looking dessert, but sadly, I was just too full to give it a try. I would have done better if I went to "Waffle House"... at lease they would have actually cooked the bacon right then, instead of taking old bacon that was probably left over from breakfast. Sitting down to eat in the restaurant the food and service is great, but their to go orders are just not good. At least not when it comes to breakfast. Both times I've done a to go order the potatoes/ hash browns have mo salt/seasoning at all. Today I ordered a breakfast sandwich and specified no avocado ( due to a severe avocado allergy) and got home to find the whole sandwich was filled with avocado. While the food was delicious and plentiful ( we got the chicken and waffles to split and still had chicken left over for another meal), the pickup experience was rude and off putting that I don't think we'll order from here again. I'll set the scene. It was a rainy Sunday. We had woken up to the dog making a mess overnight. My husband was flying out of town for the week later that afternoon. We needed some comfort food for breakfast. So we placed an order online for curbside. Entered our vehicle information and everything and he took the baby to go pick the food up so I could finish cleaning without her getting in everything. When he arrived there was no designated spot to park in so he called the restaurant to let them know he was there and where he parked. They told him they didn't do curbside anymore and he would need to come In. He told them he had a crying baby in the car (they could hear) and that it would be more trouble to get her out of car seat, walk in, pick up food, put her back in car seat, etc. they told him they would see if someone could bring it out, but no guarantees. Finally someone did manage to bring the food out to him, but told him they couldn't do that again. Not very good service if you ask me. And if it's no longer available at your restaurant site, you need to remove it as an option when folks are ordering online. read more

Came here on New Year's Day. So happy they were open! They were busy but we didn't have to wait very long for a table. This was my first time at this location and I found it to be consistent with the other location I visited. Generally I would get breakfast but I decided to get the BLT. It was really good. Lots of bacon and the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. Hubby got a cheese steak which he enjoyed. My friend got the roast beef and he said it was good. Fries were hot and hit the spot.
