Had an excessive leak from the meter located above my water heater. I emailed Meternet, they responded early the next business day. Jon Z is the freakin' man! He came over with a smile, easily explained what the problem was, and repaired the leak. All in less than 30 minutes. Thanks Jon Z! read more

Meternet changed the online portal for billing access and did not send us any emails. In fact, their previous system did not even have any capability to get you an email about a new bill. They simply want you to miss your bill so that they can charge you late fees. The portals they provide are some of the worst, and even for making a payment with a bank account, they charge you a convenience fee. On top of this, they charge every user a per-account fee of $10 just for the pleasure of doing the metering, they also have fees baked into the water meters, and their base fee for water meter is extremely high. If you are an HOA, avoid this company at all costs. Your residents will get terrible service. They will overpay, and this company is in the business of making sure your residents miss their bills so that they can charge them additional fees. read more

Major billing error: We were charged over $500 for a month when the property sat vacant, essentially billing us 1000× the actual water usage. It turns out the decimal point on the meter reading was omitted during billing. What raises even more concern is how this was handled. Neither the customer representative nor the supervisor could provide a satisfactory explanation for how professionals handling water meters could misread something so fundamental. Both referred to the issue as "just a decimal" in a rather nonchalant manner. This makes one wonder how widespread such billing errors may be. This is particularly troubling coming from a company that claims a "trusted," "unwavering commitment to excellence," and "state-of-the-art" service. On the positive side, I will give two stars for having a local team that actually answers phone calls. That part is appreciated. read more

MeterNet sent a technician out to replace/upgrade my meter per the HOA. The technician managed to crack a pipe near the meter during the install and this resulted in massive flooding and a ruined garage. In addition, the meter installed does not work and is leaking as well. However, when you try to contact MeterNet thru all possible means you get no response. Unfortunately, will have to be resolved by lawyers. Not sure how a company like this can still be in business. I recommend anyone, including HOAs, avoid this company. read more

$12 to Read a Digital Meter? Absolute Scam. Meternet and our genius HOA board must have concocted this partnership in a room full of smoke, mirrors, and kickback checks, because there is zero logical explanation for how this service exists otherwise. My actual water usage this month? $19. Meternet's "service fee" to issue the bill? $12. That's right--a 63% markup for the grueling, backbreaking labor of transmitting digital meter data into an automated email system once every 30 days. Apparently, typing out a PDF and hitting "Send" requires the expertise of NASA engineers, because charging every single unit $12/month just to "read a meter and bill the HOA" is daylight robbery. What exactly are we paying $12 a month for? Are you sending a butler in a tuxedo on a silk cushion to hand-deliver my bill? Are your servers powered by liquid gold? No. It's an automated third-party parasitic fee tacked onto an essential utility because homeowners have no choice in the vendor. To Meternet: Your business model is predatory, shameless extortion wrapped in a fake "utility management" label. To our HOA Board: Whoever signed this contract either has the financial IQ of a houseplant or is taking a cut under the table. Fire Meternet, or prepare to be voted off the board. read more

Meternet double-billed me for my final utility statement when I sold my home. They collected payment directly from my escrow company and simultaneously auto-debited my personal checking account for the same final balance. Additionally, they tacked on a questionable 'moving out processing fee.' I have also called customer service multiple times over the past month with extremely long wait times and have been repeatedly promised a credit, but no refund has been issued. The experience has been very frustrating and stressful. read more

For people like this one star is actually way too high. They base their sewage charge ($4.71/HCF) on what water you use ($2.93/HCF). CLEARLY all water used is NOT sewage. This is a slick way to double bill water use at a higher rate. If you are on vacation and NO sewage is produced you still get a sewage bill. Money from nothing and a complaint to the board of consumer affairs! read more

We are moving and wanted to arrange for service to end. They can't do this until house closes escrow. Website is wonky. Customer service is spotty. Make sure you sign up for every possible email reminder, or you will be receiving invoices when they're already late and in this perpetual cycle of late charges. I pay my bill as soon as I receive it and somehow it is already in arrears. If it was the same amount each month, I would just automatically pay it each month, but I'm relying on their billing to get this right. If I had an option not to use meter net I would gladly switch. I'm starting to wonder if their business model is to set up customers to always be in receipt of late charges! read more

The meter reading and charging are atrocious!!! I wish there was a way to replace their services.

So far I'm very concerned about possible unethical billing practices. Seems MeterNet is in partnership with the HOAs and I've noticed incredibly inflated utility bills causing over 1k in possible overages. There are also references to "estimated readings" and the meter seems mismanaged (filled with dirt/ scratched surface/ obscured numbers and we haven't even confirmed if it's the right meter for my home!) I'll update this review fairly upon the outcome of my email request and upon resolution. I'm also concerned that the balance has ballooned to nearly 3k without any warning (they only send mail and are based in CA while I'm in TX and I'm sure I've missed a good bit of it somehow but they don't call or email so you can easily miss the information and by that time you're already being charged excessive late fees on top of the fees in dispute). Then they say the HOA (Sterling ASI) is the entity who has to agree to review the charges (who hasn't responded to my emails of course and who didn't really inform me that the bill was so high or that I needed to pay MeterNet for water billing as I'm a new homeowner) which seems like a tricky setup without much oversight. Hopefully I'll be updating that this is all resolved successfully shortly. The individual I spoke with on the phone was very nice and did acknowledge the readings seemed extremely high so that was validating on some level. However, seeing unexplained bills of $800 and $600 and $300+ is very concerning and alarming when the usage certainly doesn't justify the indicated rates and isn't aligned. read more

Jon employee of MeterNet is the ultimate example of professionalism. Knows what he's doing thoroughly. He's a class act a gentleman and a scholar and down to earth. I'm from New York he's the kind a guy who'd be very successful in New York. We New Yorkers respect solid people. All that being said, MeterNet is lucky to have a guy like Jon working hard for the organization. He's definitely the right guy for the job and you couldn't ask for a better representative for any company of this ilk. He should be in upper management as far as I'm concerned. As far as customer service is concerned I couldn't give Jon enough stars. 5 stars isn't enough for this young man. All the very best to you Jon and thank you MeterNet for sending the right guy out to the Job. read more

I spoke with Rachael Maluia, She worked with me to resolve the issue with our billing, and She was incredibly helpful with our past and current billing. Because our billing situation was so complicated, we have to change our old meter and install a new one! She went out of her way to ensure that we are safe during the installation of the new meter due to COVID 19 situation. She scheduled an appointment with Tyler (the technician) And let me tell you about Tyler, the technician that change our meter, he has done a phenomenal job, he was so polite and professional and super clean. The new meter was bigger than the old one, and he had to redo the whole piping, let me tell you he was super fast, and at the end, he created a piece of art. I am super happy with the support and service that I received from Rachael and Tyler; whenever I had an issue, they worked with me to resolved it. Thank you Meternet read more

The water meters were required to be replaced at my complex and Meternet let us know the dates and times for the installation. When your work schedule isn't flexible that's a problem. Meternet went out of their way to accommodate my work schedule. I was pleasantly surprised when Jon Z. sent me a text letting me know he was outside my garage (right on time) and willing to wait for me to open my garage. Meternet is an awful company. Antiquated website, ridiculous fees added on to every bill. I refuse to pay their fees to pay online and mailed my check each month the day after it arrived in the mail. Their mailing address was one town away from me, yet numerous months they claimed my bill was not received on time and they threatened to report me to my HOA for non-payment. They should not be in business. I would give zero stars if I could. Thankfully, I no longer live in that condo and am living my life Meternet-free. People deserve better than being forced to do business with this garbage outfit. read more

I wish I could speak to someone at the company who can rectify our problem, but that doesn't seem to be in this company's top interests. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication with the builders of our home, our HOA, and MeterNet. The problem was resolved between the builders and the HOA, with water having already been paid dating back to when we purchased our home. However, MeterNet charged us for this usage, though it was already paid. We have been trying to resolve this issue with this company for over a month. Our experience so far has been: a: don't return our phone calls and emails or... b: they say they haven't heard from our HOA, yet we have email traffic with our HOA to MeterNet telling them to refund us or... c: that "someone is working on our issue." I would take this as a case-by-case situation, but if I were an HOA company examining possible meter vendors, I would strongly consider this as a con against this company. I hope our experience with this company improves, but the odds don't currently seem to be in our favor. We just want what we are owed refunded. I can't imagine a company with a large clientele such as that of MeterNets to need to cling to $500 so desperately and struggle with communication so much. read more

This is simply the worst company that I've had to deal with in my life. This is their business model: They have extremely high penalties for late fees. And they make it incredibly difficult for you to pay on purpose. So every time you want to pay you have to spend hours on the phone with no success. So they make it impossible to pay, and then they charge you 1/3rd of the bill for a penalty. Honestly I have spend hours and hours on their website and phone system to pay and it's near damn impossible. And every other day they send me more charges for being late. After many years I registered on Yelp so that I can write this. And it's not even 1/20th of time I've spent this month to pay them. read more

Really appreciate the follow through. John Z went the extra mile solving my needs. Very nice guy and easy to work with.

Unfortunately, my experience with Meternet was not good. I originally spoke to a rep Tanya, in which I was given lots of info and we scheduled a plumber to come out for quotes, and were moving forward. Then, I was told she left and was given a new rep Jean, only to find out that most of the info Tanya had given me was incorrect. Then when Jean looked into it further, told me that they couldn't provide the service at all. This is after investing months of our time, and the plumbers time. I requested to speak to a manager and never received a call back. Terrible service, training, and terrible experience. I don't recommend them. read more

- Hidden fee's - Terrible website - ZERO transparency. They charge a 'service fee' of $3.50 to pay online both with Credit Card and bank transfer (ie, e-check). This is truly ridiculous. Who would go in person to pay a $6 bill? Gas alone would cost that much! The fee is MORE THAN HALF the cost of the bill itself! How is this allowed? EDIT: I see that Moquey M.(Business Manager) is responding to reviews. Please respond with the link to sign up for ACH payment. This option DOES NOT come up as an option when you pay your bill online. I have searched for it on your online portal for hours and cannot find this option. Why are you making it so difficult to find? It seems as if you are trying to make hard working people pay you more in fee's than anything else. Ridiculous. read more

Jon Z was super nice and helpful. Fixed a wiring issue with my panel in 5 minutes in and out. Good dude.

I just bought a new place and I am forced to used Meternet (vs. our city) as the new construction company set things up with them instead. I have no experience with their service, but I just paid my first bill which includes a $12 service charge for them plus a $3.50 charge to pay a bill online in 2020. Half my bill was charges from them. Plus, their website is way out of date and I couldn't even register my account to my email or setup autopay. The only reason for 2 stars vs. one is that I was actually able to pay my bill, so it worked (I just had to pay an arm and a leg). I don't know if it possible to go to the city direct, but with these crazy charges, you can expect we'll get the HOA to try. Update: 9/29 - Due to the reply to my post. I sent in an email and I'm still waiting for a response many days later. read more
