Major billing error: We were charged over $500 for a month when the property sat vacant, essentially billing us 1000× the actual water usage. It turns out the decimal point on the meter reading was omitted during billing. What raises even more concern is how this was handled. Neither the customer representative nor the supervisor could provide a satisfactory explanation for how professionals handling water meters could misread something so fundamental. Both referred to the issue as "just a decimal" in a rather nonchalant manner. This makes one wonder how widespread such billing errors may be. This is particularly troubling coming from a company that claims a "trusted," "unwavering commitment to excellence," and "state-of-the-art" service. On the positive side, I will give two stars for having a local team that actually answers phone calls. That part is appreciated. read more

Meternet double-billed me for my final utility statement when I sold my home. They collected payment directly from my escrow company and simultaneously auto-debited my personal checking account for the same final balance. Additionally, they tacked on a questionable 'moving out processing fee.' I have also called customer service multiple times over the past month with extremely long wait times and have been repeatedly promised a credit, but no refund has been issued. For people like this one star is actually way too high. They base their sewage charge ($4.71/HCF) on what water you use ($2.93/HCF). CLEARLY all water used is NOT sewage. This is a slick way to double bill water use at a higher rate. If you are on vacation and NO sewage is produced you still get a sewage bill. Money from nothing and a complaint to the board of consumer affairs! read more

Make sure you sign up for every possible email reminder, or you will be receiving invoices when they're already late and in this perpetual cycle of late charges. I pay my bill as soon as I receive it and somehow it is already in arrears. If it was the same amount each month, I would just automatically pay it each month, but I'm relying on their billing to get this right. If I had an option not to use meter net I would gladly switch. I'm starting to wonder if their business model is to set up customers to always be in receipt of late charges! read more

So far I'm very concerned about possible unethical billing practices. Seems MeterNet is in partnership with the HOAs and I've noticed incredibly inflated utility bills causing over 1k in possible overages. There are also references to "estimated readings" and the meter seems mismanaged (filled with dirt/ scratched surface/ obscured numbers and we haven't even confirmed if it's the right meter for my home!) I'll update this review fairly upon the outcome of my email request and upon resolution. I'm also concerned that the balance has ballooned to nearly 3k without any warning (they only send mail and are based in CA while I'm in TX and I'm sure I've missed a good bit of it somehow but they don't call or email so you can easily miss the information and by that time you're already being charged excessive late fees on top of the fees in dispute). Then they say the HOA (Sterling ASI) is the entity who has to agree to review the charges (who hasn't responded to my emails of course and who didn't really inform me that the bill was so high or that I needed to pay MeterNet for water billing as I'm a new homeowner) which seems like a tricky setup without much oversight. Hopefully I'll be updating that this is all resolved successfully shortly. The individual I spoke with on the phone was very nice and did acknowledge the readings seemed extremely high so that was validating on some level. However, seeing unexplained bills of $800 and $600 and $300+ is very concerning and alarming when the usage certainly doesn't justify the indicated rates and isn't aligned. read more

Because our billing situation was so complicated, we have to change our old meter and install a new one! She went out of her way to ensure that we are safe during the installation of the new meter due to COVID 19 situation. She scheduled an appointment with Tyler (the technician) And let me tell you about Tyler, the technician that change our meter, he has done a phenomenal job, he was so polite and professional and super clean. Meternet is an awful company. Antiquated website, ridiculous fees added on to every bill. I refuse to pay their fees to pay online and mailed my check each month the day after it arrived in the mail. Their mailing address was one town away from me, yet numerous months they claimed my bill was not received on time and they threatened to report me to my HOA for non-payment. They should not be in business. I would give zero stars if I could. Thankfully, I no longer live in that condo and am living my life Meternet-free. I wish I could speak to someone at the company who can rectify our problem, but that doesn't seem to be in this company's top interests. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication with the builders of our home, our HOA, and MeterNet. The problem was resolved between the builders and the HOA, with water having already been paid dating back to when we purchased our home. However, MeterNet charged us for this usage, though it was already paid. We have been trying to resolve this issue with this company for over a month. Our experience so far has been: a: don't return our phone calls and emails or... b: they say they haven't heard from our HOA, yet we have email traffic with our HOA to MeterNet telling them to refund us or... c: that "someone is working on our issue." I would take this as a case-by-case situation, but if I were an HOA company examining possible meter vendors, I would strongly consider this as a con against this company. I hope our experience with this company improves, but the odds don't currently seem to be in our favor. We just want what we are owed refunded. I can't imagine a company with a large clientele such as that of MeterNets to need to cling to $500 so desperately and struggle with communication so much. read more

Unfortunately, my experience with Meternet was not good. I originally spoke to a rep Tanya, in which I was given lots of info and we scheduled a plumber to come out for quotes, and were moving forward. Then, I was told she left and was given a new rep Jean, only to find out that most of the info Tanya had given me was incorrect. Then when Jean looked into it further, told me that they couldn't provide the service at all. This is after investing months of our time, and the plumbers time. I requested to speak to a manager and never received a call back. Terrible service, training, and terrible experience. I don't recommend them. read more

This is simply the worst company that I've had to deal with in my life. This is their business model: They have extremely high penalties for late fees. And they make it incredibly difficult for you to pay on purpose. So every time you want to pay you have to spend hours on the phone with no success. So they make it impossible to pay, and then they charge you 1/3rd of the bill for a penalty. Honestly I have spend hours and hours on their website and phone system to pay and it's near damn impossible. And every other day they send me more charges for being late. After many years I registered on Yelp so that I can write this. And it's not even 1/20th of time I've spent this month to pay them. read more

Who would go in person to pay a $6 bill? Gas alone would cost that much! The fee is MORE THAN HALF the cost of the bill itself! How is this allowed? EDIT: I see that Moquey M.(Business Manager) is responding to reviews. Please respond with the link to sign up for ACH payment. This option DOES NOT come up as an option when you pay your bill online. I have searched for it on your online portal for hours and cannot find this option. I just bought a new place and I am forced to used Meternet (vs. our city) as the new construction company set things up with them instead. I have no experience with their service, but I just paid my first bill which includes a $12 service charge for them plus a $3.50 charge to pay a bill online in 2020. Half my bill was charges from them. Plus, their website is way out of date and I couldn't even register my account to my email or setup autopay. The only reason for 2 stars vs. one is that I was actually able to pay my bill, so it worked (I just had to pay an arm and a leg). I don't know if it possible to go to the city direct, but with these crazy charges, you can expect we'll get the HOA to try. Update: 9/29 - Due to the reply to my post. I sent in an email and I'm still waiting for a response many days later. read more

I have Meternet servicing my 13-unit apartment building in Culver City now for a year and I can honestly tell you that they are attention to detail. I receive all my resident reports, usage reports and my monthly disbursement check like clock work. Sure makes it easy for me to manage the water & sewer usage of my tenants and takes the guessing out of the equation. UPDATE 5/03: Got the bill and it notes that technicians are not sent to homes but instead averages out the last few bills but instead of actually averaging it out, they basically added the usage together. This company is really just a scam. Watching my mother's place as she's out of town for work. For a few months I've been monitoring her bills, so she doesn't have to deal with them working. No one is using water or sewage but somehow still ended up with around six dollars worth of usage and then a service fee of two thirds on top of tha So whatever, it's six bucks right? Not only did they charge the service fee, they charged an extra fee for online payment, making the total "service" charge more than the actual water/sewer usage charge. read more
