Service is fantastic, we were quickly greeted and our order was taken. I had the Horchata coffee and it was delicious. Beautiful location in downtown Brenham! Everything feels rustic and clean. Love the Bird dog store inside as well. Highly recommend breakfast tacos for only $5.50 each and the green salsa. Everything bagel kolache is so yummy with the cream cheese.

Quaint little shop in the corner of the downtown square. We're passing thru but wanted a cuppa Joe. Ordered the regular: decaf flat white made with heavy cream. We browsed the attached hipster shop while we waited (watch the first step coming back down to the coffee shop- it's a doozy!) Coffee was delicious, wonderful carmel flavored notes, not too bitter not too sweet. But it was just south of being hot (just above luke warm) and was probably shy of 8 oz total. And those two things made it over too soon. A strong 4 stars.

Hands down my favorite place to have coffee, gather my thoughts, browse for unique finds, and just generally find my peace. My husband and I love to walk here on weekend mornings to grab coffee and breakfast. The iced oatmilk latte + sugar free vanilla syrup is my FAVORITE, and I highly recommend the banana donut and the everything bagel kolache. Oh, and don't miss out on the scones - divine! It's such a neat place with a great vibe, a cute store attached with all kinds of wonderful things to shop for (clothes, jewelry, general goods), and a beautiful outdoor space for when the weather is nice. The staff are attentive and welcoming, the owners are generous to the community and always welcoming, and you're sure to see a bird dog or two if you visit. Don't miss this gem in Historic Downtown Brenham!

A small city of Brenham, found this gem of a place in the middle of town. Looked very new, clean and has that coffee/study vibe. Needed a coffee for the road and they did not disappoint, much variety on their menu. I grabbed a small Mescalito iced Mocha and a huge Kolache. If you happen to stop at this city, do stop here! Get some caffeine and get a move on, see you again.

Awesome pastries here! Unique kolaches not to be missed. The pulled pork kolache was FANTASTIC. The buttermilk donut was amazing as well! A bit on the pricy side but at least you know they'll be delicious.

I'm a BIG fan of good coffee! During a weekend trip to Brenham, I had to check out Mescalito coffee, because I heard so many great things about it. I brought my Mom along for a quick pick me up for the day. She ordered the Caramel Cosmos and I got the Flower Bomb Latte. Hear me loud and clear when I say this place lived up to the hype! We both thoroughly enjoyed our drinks. Shoutout to the baristas! It's connected to a cute, little shop called Ballad of the Bird dog. While waiting for our drinks, we walked up the steps to the shop a looked around. It literally took only five minutes for our drinks to be made, so we didn't initially get to see all the goodies they had to offer. It was a convenient way to pass our time though. If ever you decide to take a day/weekend trip to Brenham, put them on your list of places to visit.

Good for remote work! The tables are large, and there are outlets designated for each one, so you won't be fighting to charge your electronics. They also have still and sparkling water on top that is self-serve, which I really appreciate! Also, of course, good coffee and nice people. Stop in!

We stopped in here on a little Sunday road trip. The space is lovely and it has a great vibe. Many people were using the space as a work space. I love the design of the coffee bar area. It has wonderful metal work across the front. The back of the coffee shop has a little store filled with t-shirts, sunglasses, fragrances, and candles. I guess they have dogs that are often there in the store. Bummer - they weren't there today. My friend's daughter ordered and iced latte. It wasn't that busy and there were three people working and it took at least 15 minutes to get her order. We even had to ask about it. :( This place seems to have a little bit of everything: food, ice cream, coffee, and the best part...dogs!

Stopped in a while back and grabbed a coffee and a breakfast kolache. I was happy with everything I got. The kolache was warmed up and had great flavor and the the breading was incredible. That can often be the downfall with them, but not at Mescalito. The coffee was a simple mocha iced coffee but it hit the spot. I liked the setup with the tables and such still being adjacent to the Ballad of the Bird Dog shop. Overall it has a nice relaxing feeling. read more

I stopped through while driving back to Austin to get an iced vanilla oatmilk latte. It was creamy and tasted good. I would come through here again if needed. The coffee shop is super cute, too. read more

My wife and I came to Brenham for a day out before Memorial Day weekend. We stopped here for a coffee and I was very pleasantly surprised with the Cold Brew Mocha. It was very delicious. Honestly top 3 coffees I've ever drank!! The baristas were welcoming as well and my wife was able to look around at the clothes while we waited. 10/10 read more

If I could rate this place zero stars I would. I have been at this establishment several times. I have never been so disgusted with someone's poor attitude in a work place in my entire life! I went into this establishment a week or so back, and was greeted by some girl who has colored hair. As I was ordering my coffee, I saw that girl which I found out her name is Alex, was walking around acting like she knows everything. Alex is rude and gave not only customers a nasty attitude but then she turned around and gave her coworkers problems by taking their orders that they were working on. She also gave me attitude when I asked for hot coffee but instead gave me a completely different order! She gives off this attitude that she is better than everyone else. She has made my drink wrong a couple of times now and I will NOT be returning back if I see her behind the counter. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! How dare someone who works as a barista be rude to me??? I have a sick mother and father and I was floored with how bad this encounter was. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU RESPECT YOURSELF YOU WILL GET NASTY ATTITUDE FROM A GIRL NAMED ALEX!!!! read more

Just another modern coffee shop. Decent place for a pit stop if you are driving by and want to checkout the downtown. But they are extremely slow! Took 20 mins for heating a ready made bagel and making a hot latte! Also, customers could use a little bit of smile from the hostess and the servers... looked like they weren't happy at all to be working on a Sunday. read more

Great little coffee place in downtown Brenham. It's housed in an old building so it's got the old building character with big windows and wooden floors. Love the decor (chillax, hip coffee shop vibe meets old timey local meeting place). Service was nice and quick (counter walk up). We got our delicious coffees quickly! They serve some foods- but it seemed like breakfast/brunch type foods. There's ice cream? And a small shop attached. read more

I stop here every time I'm in Brenham which is about twice a year. They have the best syrups I've ever found in a coffee shop and in the most interesting flavors. Don't miss their seasonal pumpkin! Sweet service too. Make this your first stop if visiting Blue Bell or hanging out in downtown Brenham or if you're passing though it's definitely worth a trip! Their coffee concoctions are delicious and very reasonably priced! read more

Went to order coffee there Sunday morning and figured it be best to place the order online and pick up. It said 10 minutes - sounds great. I love the option to place my order in advance and pick up when it's ready. Placed my order for 2 lattes. Received a text that order was received and I would get a text when it was ready. Awesome! I get there and wait a little bit - 15 minutes go by and drinks aren't ready. I ask the worker if she knows how much longer it would be, and she said should be ready shortly. It was literally FORTY minutes later before my drinks were ready. That is absolutely crazy for coffee that wasn't even that great. Would not recommend this place if you're looking for coffee. They have cute things in their shop and I'm sure if you were ordering ice cream or a pastry the wait wouldn't be as ridiculous. Also, be careful when placing your order online; it defaults to 25% gratuity, which you can change. I adjusted to 15% since I was just placing an order for 2 drinks, but wished it would let you edit that based on the service you actually receive. read more

This is a cute place, but the coffee is quite pricey. I paid over $7 for a plain latte, which seemed like too much. The staff was disinterested, but competent. They also have Blue Belle ice cream which is of course delicious. read more

I am giving a one star review Because.. Coffee is excellent, I always stop to get a cup but service, wait time is horrible. Last Saturday I left after 20 minutes, only 1 person was served and 3 others in line before I would be waited on. please get your system in Better order and work to get the line moving. read more

If you're a coffee snob and have traveled the world eating coffee beans and visiting coffee bean farms, then this is your place! The girl taking our order had no idea how to even pronounce espresso yet the barista was a total jerk - reprimanding me for not ordering correctly when I got my coffee and I very politely asked for a little more milk. She couldn't even look me in the eye - I guess she was disgusted by my lack of all things coffee knowledge. Was the coffee good? Not enough to deal with rude employees. The first time I came here they gave me a moldy bakery item. Second chance was a waste. read more

The coffee shop is really cute! Baristas are nice, but the coffee isn't the best. It's a nice escape from Starbucks at times, but it's missing the flavor bomb & richness that you expect from small coffee shops. They get a lot of support. I'll have to try it again to see if there's been any improvement. read more

Pleasantly surprised to find a delicious and unique coffee shop in Brenham. As well as good coffee using small batch syrups the shop is filled with unique finds and a wide variety. From Vintage native American turquoise jewelry, to cookbooks and carefully curated gift items and apparel. We are here for a short stay but plan to return while we are here. Stopped by on the way back to Austin for a quick coffee. Little did I know I'd be thinking about their snickerdoodle cookie for weeks now. The gentleman at the Ballad of a Bird Dog (a cute boutique located inside) told me his wife made them right in the shop. I've been searching for one just as good since then but they don't compare. I love this place! I'm new to the area and the Starbucks out here is questionable most of the time so I decided to support this small business instead and I'm all for it! It's a bit on the pricy side but the coffee in my opinion is really good! The staff was nice as well and really speedy! I got my small iced hazelnut latte in under 5 minutes! Love love love. Best coffee in Brenham and you have to try the kolaches. Instead of a vanilla latte, try with the Mescalito syrup, yum. Lots of room inside and out and a great place to meet or a change of scenery for a couple hours of work. read more

In town recently, visiting from Austin, and I was in search of some good, quality espresso/coffee, and I found it! I ordered a triple iced americano. The flavorful notes of the beans came across without any bitterness. There were a couple pastry selections as well. I tried the "kitchen sink" chocolate chunk, caramel, pretzel cookie. And it was an excellent pairing with my strong dark brew. The coffee bar is located inside a well curated boutique with local and regional handmade clothing, toiletries/body care, and accessories. If you want quality, stop here next time you are in town. Oh, and be sure to say hello to the shop "bird" dogs that will likely greet you. read more

This coffee shop is located inside of the Ballard of the Bird Dog store and has amazing coffee with friendly baristas! It was so nice to be able to peruse the store while waiting for my coffee. So convenient, clean and well decorated. Every time I drive through Brenham I stop in here for some coffee and shopping! They have a great Instagram as well! read more

Established in 2018.

Started as a concept to have a coffee corner in the back of our retail shop, Ballad of the Bird Dog, and quickly grew to one of the best and only craft coffee locations in town.

Meet the Business Owner: Jared A.

Jared and his wife Kathleen moved to Brenham from Houston in 2019. Jared is a civil engineer and project manager in the oil and gas industry and Kathleen is a pastry chef. Both have a passion for quality and bringing exceptional experiences to Downtown Brenham.

I ended up selecting one of the specials, the pineapple, which was a mix of pineapple, apple and pear. It was refreshing and not too sweet - as the owner said, "it won't be McDonalds sweet". I could have stayed here all day reading a book and drinking tea. If you are in town or passing through, I highly recommend stopping in.

Once you place your order, you seat yourself and the server brings your food. I had the spinach salad which was ok. Hubby had the Blue truffle burger which he really enjoyed. We didn't know their hours but they quit taking orders at 3:00. We walked in at 2:45. Got great service and food fast. Next time I'm gonna get ice cream too.

Plz see the attached photos. The ice cream itself was absolutely delicious. Rich n creamy. The pistachio. Flavor was also delicious. The decor was nice. Ice cream posters and stacked displays. What the shameful part was that the employees were very unfriendly and disgruntled. I mean, how hard can it be to serve ice cream to patrons, especially little kids who are so looking forward for a treat. The world can be so cruel and harsh and unfair for these workers, to be so upset and bored at work. Do yourself a favor blue bell!!!! Replace and hire others who actually would enjoy working at a creamery/ parlor.
