Disappointing Visit to Sierra Buffet…read more We arrived at 10 AM expecting to enjoy breakfast, only to find out they had just switched over to lunch. A little disappointed, we decided to give it a try since the lunch items had just been put out fresh. Unfortunately, the hot food was a letdown. Most of the dishes were under-seasoned and surprisingly not very hot, even though they had just been brought out. The mac and cheese was watery, the fried fish was lukewarm, and the country gravy was basically flavorless. Thankfully, the salad bar and fresh fruit did not disappoint and were definitely the highlights of the meal. Overall, we were disappointed with the quality of the hot items and expected more from a buffet. Hopefully, this was just an off day.

The buffet isn't huge, but the food was good and there are lots of choices. Not bad for the price we paid. The desert bar has the MOST delicious bread pudding that I have had in a long time. Our waitress Michele was EXCELLENT she kept our empty plates cleared and was coming by all the time to check on us. While we were in line waiting to get it, we met 2 other couples from N. Las Vegas that lives in our neighborhood. No, we don't know them, but it was fun talking to them in line. They too were looking for a good buffet. Yes, we will be back :)

I know nothing about Mesquite, but my best friend's grandparents live here. I'm going to be completely honest and straightforward here, I liked Eureka MUCH better than Casablanca, where we stopped at heading towards Utah. Compared to Casablanca, Eureka looks a lot newer and they have a lot more options and stuff to do. I had read after our trip that Eureka had gone under renovations about two years ago and they plan to build more retail stuff around it in the future. They have endless slot machines inside and they have a pretty big sportsbook, although I've seen bigger before. I did consider playing one of the slot machines since I had cash on me, but I didn't go for it. Being a Vegas local that has been inside so many casinos, I don't gamble or play slot machines all that much. Going forward, if we ever take another road trip to Utah, Eureka will be our permanent stop.

We headed over on a Saturday night around 9pm. The casino was hopping with lots of people hanging out inside gambling. I did find two of my favorite machines & had to hit them up. The machine was buy some doors into the casino & we got hit with a cold breeze every time the door was opened. We then ventured to the center bar for some drinks & to play video poker & keno. Bartenders were nice. Next I hit up another favorite game of mine, a devil game. Then I hit up the Black Jack table for some fun, it was hot for awhile then it wasn't. Then we hit up the electronic craps game because the craps table was full. I'm new to craps but my friend knows how to play it so he was helping me. We spent a lot of time there & the cocktail waitresses were very attentive. The ladies bathroom wall tile is very pretty. The casino was clean, didn't stink of cigarette smoke & looked new. Very nice casino & I can't wait to go back!

We initially had reservations for 7:45, but I asked if they could be pushed back to 8:00 as we wanted to do some gambling. Since they were not busy, pushing back the reservations was not an issue. When we sat down we were given some bread and waters while we decided on what to eat. We decided to order 2 bowls of the lobster bisque soup. Their lobster bisque offers a generous portion of lobster as well as a delicious flavor. For my entree, I ordered the 8oz filet mignon. The filet came out tender and full of flavor. For sides we ordered a sweet potato, creamed spinach, and asparagus. The cream spinach was hands down my favorite side offering a rich flavor.

We tried the Espresso Martini and the Old School Cosmo--both were absolutely perfect! At $8 each happy hour pricing, they were a steal. A fresh bread basket was brought to the table with some incredible raisin nut bread. Along with olives and Parmesan! We also ordered the bacon-wrapped scallops from the appetizer menu and the steakhouse salad. The service was great. Everything was delicious and just the right amount of food for a hot day. This place checked all three boxes. The room was no-frills, but clean and comfortable. The TV was on the smaller side, but it worked fine, and the A/C absolutely cranked, which is a huge plus in Mesquite. Ice machines were easy to access, and parking was plentiful, with plenty of overflow parking available if needed. There was also a poolside bar, which looked like a nice place to relax. I didn't eat there during my one-night stay, but several people told me the food was decent. Overall, I can't think of any reason I wouldn't stay here again when visiting Mesquite.
