Lovely center with plenty of plant and garden needs. Looked at a few plants to get some ideas. Sorry, not paying $35-45 for a regular houseplant.

I am very disappointed with my experience at Merrifield Garden Center in Falls Church. In 2024, I purchased $670 worth of shrubs and had them professionally planted. Within a couple of months, the shrubs looked burned and began to die. I returned with one of the plants and was told they had not been properly scored before planting. However, when I first purchased them, the roots were extremely compacted and hard as a rock in the containers. I was given a credit and decided to try again, but unfortunately the same issue happened not once, but two more times. Despite having lived in my home for 30 years with extensive landscaping and a full irrigation system, every attempt ended with the plants dying within a couple of months. I understand their one-year replacement policy has expired, but I am very disappointed in both the quality of the shrubs and the response to my recent call. Merrifield was not open to any replacement, and the only resolution offered was to transfer me to the Plant Clinic. After three failed attempts, I cannot recommend their shrubs or their customer service.

My home away from home, lol. I Adore this place! They have everything for your home & garden needs & if you're a plant head like me, then this is heaven for you! I went to get a bird bath, a nozzle for my hose, & some mulch. A storm blew in & the skies opened up with mother nature's shower! Several trees & plants had fallen victim to the intense storm but the employees just had fun with the crazy weather & it was so nice & refreshing to see! I was enjoying it too so I appreciated their laissez-faire attitude toward the storm! Love this place!

This was my first time at this store. I decided to check it out since I saw an Instagram post about them having decorated Christmas trees. There were a ton of decorated trees and ornaments to pick from. I was glad to finally check it out during the holidays. I will definitely come back next year to pickup some Christmas decor.

Superior selection of trees, plants, flowers and gear. Decent prices. Great customer service.

Identical Juniper at Dutch's that Merrifield charged us $325 for

Very disappointed by Merrifields. We have been loyal customers for years and years, and even though we moved well out of the area, we continued shopping there because their yard service was good, and we assumed they were fair and had our back. We recently purchased a Blue Arrow Juniper from them for $325, only to find later the identical, same cultivar At Dutch Plant Farm in Frederick, MD near us for $149..... less than half of Merrifield's price. We understand prices vary, but $175 more? C'mon, guys. For all the years we dealt with them, we wanted to speak with them about this, but they haven't responded. We feel taken advantage of, and just don't trust them anymore.

Came here for some fun plant shopping for indoor plants. They have such a variety in their greenhouse. All of the plants were in healthy condition. They have common and unique plants. I was able to purchase a medium sized prayer plant $34.99, string of pearls $12.99, and a marbled pathos for $8.99. Additionally I found these beautiful off white/tan terracotta pots. Overall, prices are on the higher side but the quality is high. Less unique plants like the pathos run similar pricing as Lowes/ Home Depot but better value. I will definitely be back, my plants are already happy at home and no sign of over watering, pests, or disease. Would recommend this location for your indoor plant needs

The Merrifield Garden Center is celebrating their 50th anniversary (see my photo), and they were very busy on this sunny Saturday afternoon. So many people! The employees were all very nice and friendly; several of them said hi to and petted our doggy, and offered him treats. The Center is just as beautiful (the indoor space was decked out with spring decors).

Lots of fun stuff from Merrifield Garden Center, including carnivorous plants. Flies, beware!

We attempted to remove some ourselves but were quickly overwhelmed by the task. I researched native plant landscapers and came across Swamp Rose Co-op. After reaching out, Jeff, one of the owners, came to do a site visit. He was thorough in his presentation of plans and this February we had them come and do bamboo removal and plant some native trees and shrubs to act as a privacy screen. The Swamp Rose team was amazing! They pulled out over 2 tons of bamboo and roots! They planted native trees and shrubs which are thriving. Our backyard woodland meadow dreams are coming true. We have the team coming back in a few weeks to rip out the standard plants seen in the Silver Spring area (liriope, lilies, weeds) to replace with a native garden and we can't wait. One of my favorite aspects of this company is it is a co-op. The employees can be owners, and those who aren't are still paid a living wage as calculated by the MIT living wage calculator. They do excellent work! It is hard to find a native landscaper but this team is fantastic.

After speaking with the lady up front (I believe it was the owner Donny's wife, but not 100% sure) she talked us into using their services because she convinced us that their sod was locally grown and they had expert installers. We spend almost $1,000.00 and they came by the next week. Everything seemed to be ok after they left, but less than a month later, the sod stared to brown. MULTIPLE requests (including text messages, phone calls and visits to the store) and months later Donny finally agreed to replace the sod. NO notification that they were coming, I got a knock on my door the last day of October (7 MONTHS later) they were there to replace the sod. In the middle of the guys replacing the sod, Donny (the owner) literally pulled up in front of my house, got out and screamed in front of my entire neighborhood how he didn't think my sod actually needed to be replaced and to "never effing call him again" (Yes I have it all on video if anyone is interested). After an altercation, he trespassed me from his store. Nice way to deal with a customer that only wanted to get what he paid almost 3X what he should have from a local business.

When I spoke to the manager he tried to place blame on the whole seller about the price and offered no reason why I paid $8 for a $2 flower and was extremely rude throughout the call. That's a 301% mark up and a roughly 76% gross margin. Pathetic. In today's economy as a consumer we are seeing these inflated prices on EVERYTHING but nothing like this.
