Every year I'm looking forward to the little pop up nursery to appear. They have a great selection on annuals for a good price. Their plants never disappoint.

I stopped by today to pick up one hanging bouquet of flowers and left with three and 18 smaller individual flowers! All the pretty colors caught my eye and the 30% off sale kept me! David immediately assisted me and so pleasantly helped me pick out a few things. The gentlemen even took all my choices and carried to the register and to my car! This pop up becomes a fireworks stand in a few more weeks. It's also a pumpkin and mum stand with pony rides in the fall and a Christmas tree pop up in the winter! The excellent customer service, great selection, fabulous prices, and quality inventory has sold me as a customer!!

I came in here today looking for some nice flowers to brighten up my study area (I sit at a desk near a window). Studying can be a daunting and lonely chore at times.. and it doesn't have to be! The lady manning the register suggested some indoor plants that doesn't take up a lot of space. I went with the red daisies. They are fantastic and beautiful little things! Can't wait to see it bloom more

There are online native plant emporiums and one can surely find a few natives at the standard plant nurseries, however this place has the widest selection. And they only have native plants for sale. Upon entering you might not think you are in the right place. Most immediately you see soccer fields and public garden plots. Keep on going. You are about to discover one of the DMV's best kept secrets. There's a small tent where the sales are made and staff are available to direct you. You can borrow a wheelbarrow if you're buying a lot. The plants are arranged by letter and number labeled signs. There's a catalogue of sorts on their web page which will show you which row the plant you need is located in. The web page also has current prices. Right now quart pots are $8 each and gallon pots are $20 each for non members. One thing I will say is that it helps to research what the plant will look like when it's mature before purchasing. Most of the plants are quite small to start with but because they are native plants they do take off over time.

After several years of unsuccessfully trying to start my vegetable garden from seeds, I'm now a convert to Nalls' seedlings, and I especially love getting seedlings of lettuce and other greens here in the early spring. Last year I bought some watercress and mustard greens, which tickled my itch to try new-to-me traditional vegetables. If you're getting plants here, check out the Budding Gardeners Facebook group run by Nalls. You can get support and advice on your plants after you get them in the ground without going back to the store. I'll also add that every Nalls employee I've interacted with, including all the young seasonal employees, have been truly so nice. A+ hiring, right here. Nalls is also a great place to get some native plants, such as Virginia bluebells. However, they still stock some nasty invasives, such as vinca. I'm currently battling long-standing patches of vinca and English ivy in my yard and am surprised and sad that otherwise reliable nurseries still stock them. Get rid of those, and I'll happily give y'all 5 stars.

We attempted to remove some ourselves but were quickly overwhelmed by the task. I researched native plant landscapers and came across Swamp Rose Co-op. After reaching out, Jeff, one of the owners, came to do a site visit. He was thorough in his presentation of plans and this February we had them come and do bamboo removal and plant some native trees and shrubs to act as a privacy screen. The Swamp Rose team was amazing! They pulled out over 2 tons of bamboo and roots! They planted native trees and shrubs which are thriving. Our backyard woodland meadow dreams are coming true. We have the team coming back in a few weeks to rip out the standard plants seen in the Silver Spring area (liriope, lilies, weeds) to replace with a native garden and we can't wait. One of my favorite aspects of this company is it is a co-op. The employees can be owners, and those who aren't are still paid a living wage as calculated by the MIT living wage calculator. They do excellent work! It is hard to find a native landscaper but this team is fantastic.

After speaking with the lady up front (I believe it was the owner Donny's wife, but not 100% sure) she talked us into using their services because she convinced us that their sod was locally grown and they had expert installers. We spend almost $1,000.00 and they came by the next week. Everything seemed to be ok after they left, but less than a month later, the sod stared to brown. MULTIPLE requests (including text messages, phone calls and visits to the store) and months later Donny finally agreed to replace the sod. NO notification that they were coming, I got a knock on my door the last day of October (7 MONTHS later) they were there to replace the sod. In the middle of the guys replacing the sod, Donny (the owner) literally pulled up in front of my house, got out and screamed in front of my entire neighborhood how he didn't think my sod actually needed to be replaced and to "never effing call him again" (Yes I have it all on video if anyone is interested). After an altercation, he trespassed me from his store. Nice way to deal with a customer that only wanted to get what he paid almost 3X what he should have from a local business.

They trapped me in a "blame loop" with DoorDash and refused to provide a receipt or even basic answers. They insisted I take it up with DoorDash, even after I sincerely explained that DoorDash had already denied the refund without a reason and I needed the store's help to figure out the issue. When I naturally got frustrated by their incompetence, the main manager didn't try to solve the problem; instead, she tried to escalate it. She started tone-policing me, telling me to "lower my voice" just to make it look like I was the aggressor, when they were the ones mistreating me. They even called people from the back to "gang up" on me, creating an incredibly awkward and hostile atmosphere. Between the gaslighting, the untrained cashiers, and the broken pickup boxes, this store is a total mess. Management is the biggest problem here; they would rather pick a fight with a customer than do their jobs. Save yourself the headache and go to a different location. However, I would like to thank, from the bottom of my heart, the employees who go the extra mile to deliver exceptional customer service. Just as there are good people in every company, there are also bad apples. It is unfortunate.
