Ben, Connor, and the entire Independence Landscape Team are absolute masters at their craft and…read moresome of the most professional, responsive individuals I've ever worked on a project with. The job included designing/redoing our frontyard bed, installing downspouts, building a 330 square foot backyard patio bordered by a dry creek, installing natural stone steps leading up to the patio, and designing/executing new backyard landscape beds. Our backyard - which is on a slope and not a huge space to begin with - looks out onto a shared driveway. Given that, my wife and I struggled with how to create a sense of privacy in our backyard without having a fence installed. Of all the professionals we met with initially, Ben, our Project Manager and Connor, who did a lot of the design work, had the clearest vision of how to get it done. Both were mindful and in tune with what was important to my wife and I. Both were creative in working within the parameters of our space to deliver what is in my opinion, the very best job that anyone could have done. Big credit to the the teams that came out and did the work as well, Cheto included. The results are stunning and my wife and I couldn't be happier.

Independence Landscaping was contracted with VDOT for snow removal in the Lorfax neighborhood…read moreduring the January 2026 snowstorm. Snow removal was difficult due to the amount of snow and the icing that followed combined with extreme cold. Lorfax streets provided additional challenges. I had the pleasure of meeting Eswin Yanes Perez who was working as a plow operator. Eswin, despite having worked long days under difficult conditions, committed to clearing Wells Road. Eswin took pride in his craft and cleared the road all the while taking care not to block in driveways! A fantastic job by Eswin, and Independence Landscaping. As a realtor in the area, I have opportunity to recommend companies to clients and often find myself in a position to recommend landscapers and similar professionals. If the entire company is as good as Eswin, Independence is on the top of my list!

He had to build a retaining wall on the outside of the fence in addition to the planting, mulching, and graveling inside, and he went back and forth with me for a week to find the right stones to match the existing wall. All in all, I would highly recommend him, both for ongoing gardening or for a specific project.

A spectacular transformation -- thoughtful, skilled, and the communication was great!…read more After a difficult drought last year our grass burned and soil runoff became a real problem. B.Hernandez Landscape delivered a spectacular, well‑managed solution. David coordinated everything with excellent communication especially with additional requests; Benito and the rest of the crew were punctual, respectful, and clearly skilled. They removed excessive tree roots, trenched and built a sturdy retaining wall to protect the tree, regraded the yard to ensure proper slope for water runoff, and created two attractive flower beds with enriched soil and black mulch. They laid sod across multiple curb strips and the front of the house, carefully blending seams and finishing edges. Their quote was by far the fairest among five contractors we interviewed, and the workmanship shows it. With extra sod available they even took additional time to install over a curb strip for me. They cleaned up meticulously and even power washed the sidewalks. This team went above and beyond to support my request. The pride they took in this job is obvious -- I'm extremely grateful and proud of my front yard. Highly recommend B.Hernandez Landscape.

Early Wednesday morning they had an arborist at the house, dispatched a large crew and a massive crane. They spent 7 hours carefully removing the tree, lifting huge pieces of it over our neighbor's house (thank you, good neighbors!), ground the small and medium branches, and stacked the very large trunk sections on the street. On Thursday they picked up all of the large sections and hauled them away. By 5pm the tree was gone and contractors were able to start doing a temporary repair of the large holes in our garage roof. This was a traumatic experience that was totally unexpected. This was a seemingly healthy tree that just tipped over without warning.
