OMG- stay away They outsource all the fertilizer to true greer commercial group yet they market "all services under one roof". It is was quite a surprise when a true green truck appeared in my driveway. The bed preparation and fertilizer application quality control is terrible, missed beds, uneven application, weeds everywhere in the beds. Every time you call you get a different person with no knowledge of your previous issues. Crazy multi step process where your beds are edged, and cleaned (not) and wait for mulch for over a week. Fertilizer is spread on a tall grass lawn as the mowing crew is separate and not done before fertilizer is applied. Total pushback on multiple complaints, with bogus excuses and even insult their clients integrity for complaining, even after sharing clear quality issues through various pics of these problems. Quality issues were also validated through video. I wouldn't waist my time doing this but the manager was SO RUDE. Very unfortunate experience. read more

I received a piece of advertising in the mail for this company and figured I'd give them a call. I'm moving out and need the lawn cut one last time (my mower is packed up). The company claims they don't perform one-time cuts. To me, I don't understand why any company would turn down business and an opportunity to generate revenue. I was then told the reason for this is because the team that performs the cutting will end up going back and cutting the property again because they don't know any better. This sounds like poor management of a company if you're unable to control what properties your teams take care of. What a joke. My 2 cents, find another company. read more

This service company thinks that the customer is responsible in abiding by their scheduling procedures, versus simply informing the customer when they actually will be at your home. This was told to me by them that they CANNOT simply text/email/call the moment prior to arriving at the home. In this current state of technology, this is complete bull. So, with this approach, the home owner cannot plan any type of activity in your own property during the week, UNTIL Green Hill shows up and works. When I first asked about specific work dates, I was told, our service would occur in the later part of the week such as Wednesday thru Friday. I asked this because we have 3 animals that play in our yard and it would be nice to know if we need to keep them in the house on any given day that the lawn may be cut. This includes picking up their balls and other toys so all is not in the way of the worker. It also means knowing when I cannot set up my work area on the deck on any nice day when remote working from home. It also means my daughter not sitting out on the lawn reading. All is on hold UNTIL Green Hill arrives for work. I accepted the compromise of knowing that Wednesday thru Friday is a window when the "above" activities at our home stay on hold until Green Hill arrives and finished the work. TODAY, August 20th (TUESDAY) at 09:00, I suddenly hear a mower outside my office window. Sure enough, Green Hill arrived at my home on a Tuesday with NO contact with us letting us know. My dogs were out in the yard playing; Their balls were in various locations in our yard. I cancelled setting up my portable remote work stations on my deck on this BEAUTIFUL weather day! I ran out to get the last of the tennis balls in the yard so not to have them either shredded or even driven "around" by the worker. I noticed where he had entered the yard from the front of our house (this is important to what was the final straw). My daughter left the house to run an errand. while she was getting her car in order for her ride, she suddenly saw one of our dogs dash passed her and ran to our front door! After gathering him up, she turned and noticed our other dog, a 70lbs Pit Bull Terrier (luckily a love bug), standing next to her car. The reason they were out in the front of the house was because the Green Hill worker left the side gate open! Luckily our neighbors were not out or anyone with their dogs. I contacted Green Hill and terminated my service with them. I did my research for services in my area, and I originally went with Green Hill because my wife noticed so many of their service trucks along the Route 7 area in Sterling. Their cost seemed reasonable in comparison to the other companies. One cannot simply go on cost. I would pay the extra money for a company who is more focused on the customer, versus the convenience of how they decide to do business. I recommend staying away. read more

We switched to green hill at a comparable price point and have been very happy with their service. Mowed over our baby fig and pomegranate trees which are CLEARLY not in the grass area. These were gifts from my in laws and parents. Completely careless and thoughtless of them, if unsure leave it alone or ask! Zero Rating. On Saturday June 25, lawn care services cut lawn. Due to sloppiness, they did not check the yard for objects or debris as rushed as was a 3:00 service late in day. As a result, a rock or large object ricocheted off a piece of lawncare equipment and then hit my back wind shield. The windshield was destroyed with glass everywhere. Lawncare service alerted me but did not notice until done mowing grass. When I called Green Hill, they said they would have a manager call me back that day. No phone call back on that Monday. When I called on Tuesday, the representative was clueless on next steps. Had no notes in system on if someone would call me back or what repairs were needed. With them, it feels like a run-around when the will get to issue when they feel like it. Piss poor customer support. They should have been treating issue with utmost importance but instead see us as an inconvenience when they destroyed our windshield and are 100% at fault. Reconsider your lawncare service needs if you currently have Green Hill Landscaping services. Crews are sloppy and they never announce when they will be there. Nothing resembling a schedule and overpriced at that. read more

I used Green Hill for about 5 years to perform annual weeding, mulching, pruning, and annual maintenance on an extensive garden with 8 beds of 40 ft x 15 ft that included vegetable garden, herb garden, seasonal garden, wildflower and butterfly garden, and other decorative garden beds. The decorative beds had Nellie Stevens, holly's and crêpe myrtle. In certain of the other beds included coreopsis, dianthus, periwinkle, and other types of groundcover. After a couple of years of spring weeding where they would rip out decorative plants and groundcover, I called the headquarters and told them that they needed to instruct their workers as to what was a weed, and what was not. In particular, for periwinkle, coreopsis, and dianthus. Without forewarning so my wife or I could supervise, they would show up on my property year after year continued to rip them out; so much so that carpets of dianthus were reduced to a couple of stray patches. Coreopsis were ripped out, repeatedly, and entire beds of perry winkle were eliminated. After two seasons of replanting myself, I fired their dumb asses. Additional missteps in "style" included pruning the Nellie Stevens hollies so that they look like eggs instead of maintaining their natural, holly shape, and cutting back crêpe myrtle, so that they look like canes growing out of the ground. (IMO it is a common mistake here in Northern Virginia, where they cut back, crape myrtle to restrict its growth, and it loses its natural shape so that it starts to look like a small fountain.). During one spring pruning, I was inside on the computer when my wife came running inside, almost in tears, because they ripped out most of her rosemary, and even most of her thyme in her herb garden. You would not think that that's hard to miss identify, but you can't put anything past Green Hills workforce. I am now back to replanting entire beds with periwinkle, coreopsis, and dianthus. I'm going to spend hours doing it so long as Green Hill Landscaping doesn't come anywhere near my property. read more

GHL has been taking care of my lawn for years now and they make it so simple. The crew works efficiently and they address your concerns quickly, usually responding to requests and questions within the next day. They make the billing and payment process very easy. I see them working at neighbors' every week, pretending they're doing something by blowing around a lot of dirt and dust (since there are hardly any leaves on the ground yet). Green Hill Landscaping has been mowing my lawn for 3 seasons and has always done a good job. They added a service offer to do weeding, triming of bushes, edging of the yard, and then laying mulch. It was a very reasonable price and looks great. Moreover, we had a party upcoming this weekend, so they prioritized our yard to get it done to be sure that it looks great before the event. We have been with them for three or 4 years and overall our experience was not good. The biggest problem I've had is that the gardeners are not all experienced and they are not there to finish the job, but to finish what they can finish in the two hours that is assigned to them They tell me they are tracked by GPS We travel a lot, and it was difficult to ask them to do certain things outside their schedule. To give you an example we wanted our garden mulched in June, rather than in April or May. and this had to be negotiated over several phone calls. It was done in June finally but after multiple phone calls We were able to find somebody this year, who has truly transformed our garden So we terminated our contract with them. overall I would not recommend read more

These guys should be called Green Hill Landscape Destroyers. I'd gladly give them 0 stars but they deserve 1 just for the nice office people they have there. Been using them for years but I don't really think it was wise to do so at this point. Most of our problems were from their 'weed control' program which is basically a guy walking around spraying roundup indiscriminately. They have killed numerous amounts of expensive bushes, trees, shrubs, perrenials around here over the years. We even saw the guys spraying staring at his cell phone while spraying stuff. When I've complained about it someone came out and said all this was caused by too much rain or other nonsense excuses. Even after I pointed out that most of stuff they have been killing has been here for 20+ years and was all very healthy. I'd think any reputable company would say my bad, how can we fix this? Install new landscaping to replace the stuff that was killed maybe?? No not these guys! Lots of other issues such as mowing our lawn right after or during major rain and causing lots of permanent damage that has to be fixed. See my pictures, they came out today after it has been raining for a few days and the ground in the whole entire area is soaked, so I'm sure they have destroyed many more lawns than mine! I am not one to typically negatively review businesses, but this was By far one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had. I scheduled mowing service to begin the week of May 17th, which was never completed. I called and emailed at the end of the first week and was told the service would be completed by the end of the week. It never was. I called in again the following week 3 separate times and was told it should be completed in "the next couple days". Again, the work was never done. Weather did not impact ability to perform mowing. It is now 10 days past when mowing services were to begin and the company could give me no assurance that the work would be completed in a timely fashion or provide an estimated timeframe. Therefore I chose to cancel the service and will take my business elsewhere. If you are overscheduled and under-resourced as is, do not accept new clients if you cannot deliver a service!! read more

Green Hill Landscaping is reliable for mowing, however, any work other than mowing is a mistake. I paid for air rating & over seeding which they never did. I asked them to meet me at the house to verify if the work had been done. They cancelled the 1st apt set up then cancelled the 2nd just minutes before our meeting. The president emailed to ask how he could help, I asked, again, for someone to meet me at the property. He never responded to me. 8 days letter an email with a map of my street was sent with a property at the other end of the street pin pointed. The email said the map (somehow) showed they had been at my property and done the work. When I mentioned the wrong property was pin pointed, a new map was sent this time with my property pin pointed. Huh? Another email came telling me new grass would not grow until/unless Green Hill chemically treated for weeds. An unsolicited quote was provided for chemical treatments. Really? I've never seen a company work so hard to avoid meeting a client. We terminated mowing services with them. My experience is when a company works that hard to avoid resolution, its because they've intentionally misrepresented themselves. I like others would avoid them at all cost. read more

We signed up for their seasonal leaf removal service. It is now Nov 12 and they have yet to remove any leaves! Called yesterday and they explained the vacuum truck would be in my area today, if not for rain. $750 for 0.5 acre for 2-3 visits over the season. Monthly payments through fall means I have largely paid them before their first visit. I am not satisfied with the service and feel they should have removed leaves by now (without my follow up). Or offered a refund or discount when I called to complain. According, I believe the value they provide is poor. read more
