Found 1st choice roofing and hired to fix sections of my roof less than a year ago (June 2024). In…read moreaddition to the repair cost, they charged $700 for it being a 3 story home and another $600 for the pitch angle. At the time when the repair was being done, the speed at which they were working was a little concerning. This was due to the fact that I was sold on replacing all vents on the roof as well but witness the technicians leave without doing so. They came back soon after me contacting the project manager that I only only saw them go up with a bundle of shingles before and proceeded to complete the vent replacements. Once they completed the repairs, I contacted the project manager again and asked for drone footage of the repairs so I could compare them to the initial inspection photos. He then got offensive stating that his technicians were risking their lives in order to repair my roof and kept saying they stand by their workmanship and provide a 1 year warranty. I started to suspect the project manager did not fully explain to the technicians on what to repair and only repaired the obvious damage and not the improperly installed shingles the project manager sold me on to repair. Fast forward to today (April 2025), sections of my roof have shingles blowing off again which are photographed in the initial inspection last year. I contacted 1st choice to start a warranty claim and was soon told they can warranty shingles they replaced but the ones that were missed a few feet away is considered new damage and had to be treated at such. I told them ok, please get me an estimate on the repair and we can proceed with the warrantied areas. After receiving the estimate, they again charged the 3 story fee and pitch angle fee even though they will be going up to repair the warrantied areas anyways because it is "to be treated as new damage" while also stating on the estimate that they no longer can warranty any repairs because of the build material. I would not have found out my roof was damaged if I didn't switch insurance company and they send an inspector out to look at my roof. Missed agreed upon repairs and damaged repairs they are hesitant to fix. If they are currently working on your home, make sure you have footage of the completed agreed repairs after. If you're considering, make sure you have everything documented to cover yourself cause they are for sure covering themselves.

I'll never do that again. I'll just do it myself. They were finishing up for the day and the owner conveniently forgot the payment type. He stated he forgot his card reader and would bring it tomorrow. He then stated via text that he was only accepting zelle. When I showed him our conversation via email of the payment, he said he didnt remember the conversation that was clearly in email. I asked them to stop the work and leave all the caulking and power washing behind since I paid for it. Im not sure why they told my friend that I stopped the work. He doesnt own this home and has no say so on what projects I pay for at my home. Overall, they did a good job of what was actually finished but unfortunately, I dont like people that lie or "conveniently get amnesia." The owner was not onsight while work was being done. When I found a problem, and the workers left my yard a wreck, I called the owner. He came out to clean up all of their mess yet he didn't notice the mess when collecting the money for the job. In addition, when the workers were painting the boards, they layed them in my front yard and painted them which left paint lines all over the grass. Very unprofessional. After I paid the owner, I had not had time to look over their work. They did do a good job on the other windows with the exception of the caulk which is one of the most important parts. They barely used any caulk, so I will have to go back myself to caulk after paying all of this money. At any rate, when I discovered a problem with one of the windows, all the owner wanted to do is argue, raise his voice and tell me I'm wrong. The second I questioned anything, he immediately became defensive. You CAN NOT discuss anything with this man or find any fault. Why would he want to fix anything? He has my money. I had to tell him several times to lower his voice and calm down. I mean, I had neighbors outside. It was embarrassing. Suffice it to say, I will be repaying someone else to fix the problem I found.
