Terrible service. The food was good but poor presentation--too plain. I had the tenderloin and they handed me a piece of meat and a potato! There was zero presentation!!! The server was inattentive. I was ignored and it was dead! I had cheesecake for desert. This was an ice cream scoop of cheesecake placed on loose graham cracker crumbs with a strawberry syrup poured over it. I was at the Omni for business and had no other choices for breakfast so ate at Meritage for 4 days in a row. It was busy in there each day so I would be a little forgiving. Day 1: No one greeted me for about 5 minutes and then they didn't really know where to put me since I was alone- ( I would figure lots of people dine alone in a business type hotel). There was another guy sitting at the bar by himself so I said that would be fine. He was drinking juice, but did not have any food in front of him. I opted not to have the buffet because I had 50 minutes before my meetings. I was given coffee and ordered an omelet. I was told it would be about 10-15 minutes because of being busy. I understood and waited, and waited. I do not even know who my waitress was, but I was offered more coffee by someone else. The other guy still didn't have food. I waited. After 30 minutes I flagged someone down and said I had ordered an omelet but it still hadn't come. I waited and waited. Then I laughed with the other guy who had also never been given his food. We waited a few more minutes. No one ever came back, apologized or anything else. We left. I enjoyed the free coffee. Day 2: Only out of what I thought now was necessity to eat so I got the buffet. I still just wanted an omelet. But after watching the omelet guy throughly brown and flatten out the omelets and burn another I just opted for veggies and over easy eggs on top (figured that would be the best way to not get them burned). The bacon is absolutely the most delicious. the fruit was good and my coffee was kept filled. All the other stuff looked fine and they had a nice assortment, but it was still not a $19 buffet. For that there should be some prime rib and LOTS of choices that are irresistible, but it's not. Day 3: The omelet guy was not working, but a nice lady who had to ask me 4 times what I wanted in my omelet and I watched her make the folks after me with the wrong stuff. Apparently "just ham" mean put spinach, mushrooms, onions and peppers and no ham. Again, great bacon and the omelet was fine after she got it correct. Day 4: I had a great waiter finally who was friendly and kept my coffee full, this time the omelet guy was back. I still wanted my omelet, it's what I do- I eat eggs and veggies. So I specifically told him I did not want it brown, but rather okay with slightly runny eggs instead. He made it and it was over cooked- not burned, but not delicious. $19 again, had a small cup of fruit which was nice and an over cooked omelet. Wow, do I have a new found respect for this restaurant ! Months ago, we have a eh lunch at this hotel restaurant, but ventured back for their breakfast buffet after finding our hotel's restaurant closed. We arrived quite early --9am, and dug into their reasonably priced buffet -- the price does change later in the AM, but we were rewarded for our early arrival. The buffet was pretty standard, but the added bonus of champgne pushed the stars. Another star was added for our server -- wish I remember his name, but you'll know if you get him. He's charming, funny, with right on service. He likes his job, and is good at it, and you'll have a better time because of him. read more

What a surprise! My friend and I came here with low expectations during Denver Restaurant Week because it was the only place not booked up. The food and service ended up being fantastic. For my 3 courses, I had the caprese salad, the salmon, and the bread & butter pudding. I think what I like the most about this place is how well they balance the flavors. The caprese salad had just enough balsamic vinegar on the crostini, and instead of the typical basil, they gave a generous helping of arugula. The tomatoes were heirloom, but I think they could've done a better job with the mozzarella. It was a skimpy portion and not the freshest. The salmon was cooked perfectly tender and the dish had a great balance of salty and sweet with the capers and candied pumpkin seed vinaigrette, which was amazing by the way. It's a pretty unique sauce for salmon I think. The only thing missing from the entree was some sort of root vegetable mash to round it out. The bread pudding dessert was super rich, so if you like sweets, you will love it. The butterscotch ice cream had a wonderful creamy texture and the bread pudding itself was just right. I'd say two can share this one as I had to unbutton my jeans to finish it! Overall great experience and I'd definitely come back here again. Meritage Restaurant is inside the Omni Resort and Spa near the Flatirons Mall in Broomfield. I work 5 minutes from here, but it wasn't until a friend took me out to lunch that I knew this place existed. The decor is traditional contemporary with espresso leather and furnishings. Fresh modern flower arrangements on the tables. Ambiance for a fabulous business lunch. But the food, oh the food, is wonderful! My friend chose to take me here as she searches for places prioritizing organic and local foods. The flat bread appetizer with goat cheese and arugula is to die for. The salads are amazing as well as the sandwiches and entrees. I have been twice and will continue to go as often as I can. Also, oddly enough, we met a couple in Sonoma Co., CA who knew about this place. They told us the owner is a huge fan of meritage blends, hence the name of the restaurant. There is a beautiful presentation of wood & glass cellars brimming with excellent wines when you walk into the entry way. I just adore this place. read more

The food is excellent, for brunch and dinner. Service is outstanding, always so professional and gracious. Even great for kids! They are all so sweet and welcoming to our toddler every time we come in, it's wonderful! The only thing missing to give them a 5 rating is to have changing tables in the restrooms. The Omni hotel doesn't have any changing tables in their lobby restrooms. I've talked to the hotel staff and have written a formal comment on their website to no avail. For such a nice hotel/restaurant this is such an oversight to have to change a baby on the cold, hard marble around the sinks. I know it's not important to everyone but it's such an easy fix and makes a world of difference for families with small children. read more

After seeing all the great reviews, we decided to try this place as we were staying in the Omni hotel anyway. We ate on a Monday evening at 8pm so it was very quiet. Knowing that hotel food is generally overpriced and not that great, we were hesitant but were actually pleasantly surprised. We had the scallops and prawns, bison and beef tenderloin, which were all excellent, the bison being the star of the meal - excellent, very tender and flavorful. This is a lovely restaurant. I made reservations for my grandson and I last Saturday. The food was prepared well and presented in a sophisticated manner. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 start experience is that our waiter seemed to forget about us after he checked how the food was. This used to be a nice place to go for lunch with the Restaurant.com coupon. Past experiences here have been positive, so my wife wanted to take my visiting Nephew from out of the Country to try something nice. I heard their visit was one of the worst they ever had. The wait staff was pleasant, but inexperienced, and the kitchen just bombed on the food, period. Even the salad entree they brought back for me was worse than something I could get from any chain grocery store deli. I called and left a message for the restaurant manager, but after 2 days and not hearing anything, I called again to see if they could entice me back for a second try. The restaurant manager was not available, so the Food and Beverage Manager from within the Omni Hotel called the Tap Room picked up the phone. He was a real professional. He explained the wait staff were inexperienced because they were interns from other countries who wanted exposure to the food and beverage division. The kitchen performance, however, he had no excuse for. He said he would pass my comments along to the Meritage manager and get us back in for another experience on the Omni's dime. I am still waiting to hear back, and if they do, I will be happy to update my review. As of now, all I can say is save your money ($70, because they tipped them a usual and customary amount despite their inexperience) additional to the Restaurant.com coupon, and maybe give the Taproom a try. I would not waste my money with the Meritage restaurant until they get things worked out. read more

Went here for the Thanksgiving buffet today and was not impressed. The food was below average, especially for the price. Turkey was dry, stuffing was burnt, and the eggs Benedict was terrible. I expected a whole lot more from what is supposed to be a big time hotel. Also just checked my bank account and I was charged $50 more than what I signed for. Certainly will not be back at this hotel to eat ever again. There are many other options in town with MUCH better food!! read more

Christmas Dinner at the Meritage Restaurant was excellent. There were 20 or so of us, we were treated well, served up with great food, and had a very nice time of it. Dana was our server, he is a 'foodie'. There were a variety of people helping him, but he made the experience what it was; wonderful, friendly, and no disappointments. I changed my order at the very last minute. I know this is very bad behavior but he took it in stride, made everything right for me, all without guilt. I recommend this restaurant highly. This used to be a hidden gem, awesome menu with even better food high, but reasonable prices for the quality of food and service. TOTALLY different now! The calamari app was soggy, soaked with oil and just bad, we had to send it back, and we are not picky. The dipping sauce was basically just mayonnaise, gross. We then ordered the Sea Bass and New York steak... $38 each mind you and sides and salads are extra so for those prices expectations should be high. The sea bass was a tiny, unseasoned fillet. Not bad if you got it at Chilis or Abblebees for $12, but for $38, absolutely ridiculous. I ordered the steak medium rare. It came out cold and VERY rare with no noticeable seasoning. Strike 3 out of 3. At this point I was just over it. We should have sent everything back but felt bad after sending the calamari back. We ate a few bites, got boxes, again not sure why, and left. $100 birthday dinner bust, very disappointing. EDIT: Looking back.... This was SO bad, I tried to heat up my steak the next day and it was inedible... HORRIBLE, this place basically robbed us. Worst cut of NY steak I have ever seen, it was 90% fat. Honestly I am going to call them to get a refund, ruined my wifes Bday. This place used to be SO good, I'm not sure what happened. They must have changed chefs? It's unfortunate because this used to be one of our go to nice dinner spots, but we wont be back. With that said, let me just say that the service was good, no issues there. Really good Mother's Day brunch! Vicki, our server, was very pleasant and attentive. Staff very efficient. The food was delicious, with many choices. I have been to this establishment many times and had a great meal usually at dinner. Today the meals were very sub par. As a Chef and a person with over 25 years in restaurants and country clubs I have concerns. It started off with the waitress not knowing the lunch menu because she was "helping out" the lunch shift. She had to go back and forth to the kitchen several times to ask questions. The appetizers were spot on and well done. Though the entrees were lacking greatly. I had a rueben sandwich which was so greasy that it was dripping from the sandwich and there was a big pool of grease on the plate. I have made hundreds of these in my career and well you let the grease drain so it us not over whelming. It actually made me sick to my stomach later. A friend had the half roasted chicken and the chicken was bland itself and the sauce over it also was greasy. To me it looked like there was too much butter in the sauce. He could not finish the entree due to this. My other companion had the Shrimp Scampi and the shrimp were cooked well, but the pasta was well past al dente. The sauce is a butter base sauce but again there was way too much butter. She actually waited to eat her entree to let it settle at the bottom. I know this establishment does a great dinner service but the lunch service needs attention. It is like the dinner service is the Major leagues and the lunch service is like high school ball. I highly suggest dinner service here but I would skip the lunch service. When you spend that much on a meal you expect it to be right. read more

The wait staff and the management were very polite, very thoughtful, and very patient, the food was delicious and affordable, and the atmosphere was peaceful and elegant. I am staying at the hotel. Ate here once so far. The first thing that hit me was how dirty the carpeted floor of the restaurant was. That may be that they clean it every night and went I came for dinner I was just witnessing the accumulation of breakfast and lunch but still. I thought the lobster aoli was just marginal. I thought Caesar salad was good but could have used more salt from the kitchen. I asked for lamb medium rare and it came out way too over done. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but no more. While our server was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, our experience at the Meritage was very disappointing. Turnaround from the kitchen was atrocious. What was to be a fabulous birthday celebration, turned into a prolonged litany of excuses why the kitchen was so slow. After 90 minutes without any sign of our entrees, we politely asked that our order be cancelled. Other guests that night appeared to be experiencing the same frustration. We were offered water and declined wine until all four of the group arrived. After we were all there, no one came to our table. Finally, a bus person asked about water and I asked for bread. Our waiter arrived and asked if we wanted to order drinks. Two ordered ice tea. Tea was brought and we didn't see our waiter for probably 20 more minutes. He finally took our order. We were never offered additional bread and waited forever to be offered more drinks. Our waiter finally appeared and asked about dessert. We declined. He didn't offer coffee, brought our check and disappeared again. The food was good, but service was horrible. Final bill was over $150. Pricey for zero service. read more

Fantastic lunch at Meritage last week. We started with some appetizers - the lobster aioli was terrific. Next up, the grilled salmon - near perfection! Upon entering we should have known there was a problem. Only 2 tables occupied on a Friday night ? Although pleasant, the wait staff appeared less than happy to be there- Cant say I blame them with no customers. Started with Lobster Bisque- Great presentation but watery and bland, The steaks were cooked correctly but little seasoning and one of them was so tough that 3/4 went uneaten. One would think that when the waiter asked if we'd like the steak boxed to go and the answer was "no" the next logical question might be if there was a problem w/ the steak. Instead the plate was cleared and check delivered. ( clearly poor training ) I could get a better steak at Texas Roadhouse for 1/3 of the price. Worst $200 meal I've ever had. read more
