The second day we were there the smoke detectors went off warn us that they needed batteries. I called the Bennington office and in less than an hour our problem was fixed! Best of all we had to leave early on our last day and I left my bank bag with over $500.00 cash in it beside the bed in the small dresser.When we go home and everything unpacked no money bag.I sent a text that next morning to the housecleaning crew and asked them to check and see if was there. I left them all my information and they called me and said it was there and they put it in the mail for me. I offered them $100.00 to buy some pizzas for the crew and they said they appreciated the offer but couldn't do that. My happiness is all they needed. It was at the tail end of winter, with cold nights and wet days. Rooms have gas fireplaces, with outdoor seating and porches for warmer weather. Checkin was great in the main lodge. They had many friendly employees. There's a bar and restaurant here that I didn't have time to visit! The grounds have paved trails all over, with quick walks or bike rides to restaurants, bars, and outdoor activities. They have a free shuttle that can get you around to places quicker too! My room was gorgeous, with high ceilings, wood, and soft decor. The bathroom was very modern and comfortable. Worth the cost. Another place I really wanted to visit was the indoor heated pool area that looked amazing. Maybe next time! For the event we had catered amazing meals of local produce and meats, so many flavorful items. The event spaces all have a lodge feel to them as well, comfortable. I highly recommend staying here for a few days if you're in the area.

I had to name the dude, he stares at me the entire time I'm in the room, especially with him over the bed. Heated bathroom floor tiles? Check. Amazing craftsmanship? Check. The kitchen here makes you want to drool. The upstairs has two cute beds built into the wall with cabinets separating them and curtains to pull over. I would have loved those as a kid! The living area is great and the couch/chairs are very comfortable for lounging. The mud room is perfect as we definitely came with weathered bottom halves from the days activities. The garage has a dog door going out back into a fenced off kennel run with a ramp and house. A German Shepherd could fit through just fine. The garage is also loaded with bikes, sports balls, games, skis and an extra fridge. There are TVs in every room, which is great if multiple families are staying here, to keep kids entertained if needed, outside of everything else there is to do. To be honest, we all only watched the Super Bowl 49 and then never turned the TVs on again. Oh and the tub upstairs is huge and magical. The only cons I could mention is the retreat being oddly situated off the road, so some road noise is heard from inside, which is funny to hear when looking out onto nature. Lastly, if the hot water is glacial, check the circuit breakers. They tripped on us and we didn't know the cause. Only took a few hours for the tanks to be warmed up. All-in-all ... This place is gorgeous and I would love to stay here again. The cabin is by a large air field so it is secluded a bit from everything but the road noise. (Though I just wondered how often it's used, it's winter so we've only heard one plan so far). The Village is about 5 minutes away and downtown Bend is 30 minutes. Bachelor Ski Area is also 30 minutes from here and a pretty direct route. Thanks for having us!!!

Dear Sunriver,…read more Primarily, we'd like to extend many thanks to you for allowing us the usage of White Elm 31 from Aug 24-28. It was a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of Sunriver and nearby Bend, where we had a family celebration. Unfortunately, the experience was not as perfect as we would have hoped for or wanted. The factors that contributed to this feeling were the following: -The description of a four bedroom, 3.5 bath home for up to eight people listed on the Village Properties website did not match the actual home once we arrived after our long drive from CA. The home had three master bedrooms with its own bathroom (two on the garage level, and one on the living room/kitchen level with the half bathroom next to the master) but no fourth bedroom. -With that set-up, unfortunately, one of the families did not have a proper room to stay in and had to make do with a provided mattress (stuffed in the closet) that had to be laid down in the alcove between the two downstairs master bedrooms, in which they had no privacy whatsoever. -Alex from the office was not very amicable and abrupt via phone and email when we advised her of the situation and the misleading description upon check-in (we had this reserved back in early February of this year). When we asked if it was possible to get a little compensation back for the inconvenience this caused, all she could reply with was, "I forwarded your request to our vacation property manager." Unfortunately, nothing came of that during our stay. -The request for extra beddings we had emailed Village Properties on Aug 15 was confirmed by Alex, but, upon check-in, those were nowhere to be found in the home. Another phone call to the office and after about an hour wait, the beddings that were supposed to have already been there got delivered. Whomever made the delivery did acknowledge and concede that the beddings had been waiting in the office and was unsure as to how/why they had not already been at the home when we checked in. -Thursday morning, Aug 25, around 9:15, one of our family members decided to check out and use the hot tub. To his surprise, he found someone cleaning it, unbeknownst to us, and again, no one had bothered to inform us via email or phone call. Because of that situation, he decided to no longer attempt to use the hot tub for the entirety of the stay. -We were told that the cleaning crew had vacuumed and made the entire home ready; however, we found crumbs that they had missed under the dining room table, the tabletop itself sticky, and dusty windowsills. On our checkout day, Sun, August 28, we did receive what seemed to be an auto generated email from Mark Halvorson, the owner of Village Properties at Sunriver, thanking us for our stay and hoping we enjoyed our time and additional verbiage of that nature. The tail end of the email stated, "If you had a less than satisfactory experience, please call us at 1.800.SUNRIVER so that we can take care of your request right away. We value your feedback." Unfortunately, it was a little too late to contact them as we had already checked out and were already on the road for a 10-hour return trip back to CA. Overall, the short vacation for the family celebration was not as comfortable as it could have been but did not deter us from making the best of it in an unfamiliar location. Whether we return to Sunriver in the future is a mystery for now but if we do, we will give Village Properties another shot and hopefully, it will meet our expectations. As of this writing, my wife re-checked the listing for White Elm Unit 31 and it now states, "3 bedroom, 3.5 bathrooms."

The listing gave the impression that we would be staying in Sunriver, but the property was actually miles away. We were not familiar with the area, and that distinction made a huge difference. We were provided with bikes, but what's the point of having bikes when the property is too far away to realistically bike into Sunriver? We ended up needing a car just to get where we expected to be staying. In my opinion, the way these properties are marketed is deceptive at best and could easily mislead people who aren't familiar with the area. The location should be made much clearer upfront rather than making guests assume they are actually staying in Sunriver. We would never stay here again, and I would strongly recommend that anyone booking carefully verify the exact location before making a reservation.

This review is for the helpful staff who answered the phone 3 times within 45 minutes of our arrival, just as a big winter storm was setting in. The 2 women (I wish I could remember their names... Cindy and Stephanie?!? I'm not good at remembering names, sorry!) answered our questions with care, patience and kindness. They promptly communicated with maintenance and other departments to answer our "snow newbies" questions. We felt very well taken care of by the Vacasa staff. Because of previous experience, reading several dozen reviews, and knowing they want to thoroughly clean the unit so it's safe for the next renter, we will understandably heed the strict check in/out times.

But the biggest betrayal came when their so called representative showed up 12 hours later, he refused to even enter different rooms of the property to address our concerns, He laughed when I turned on the stove and it started smoking, the only resolve he offered was a full refund which they reneged on 2 hours later, Go Figure Nobody in the right mind would rate this place above 1 Star, more like -10 . Cascara is fraudulently making false accusations so they can scam people who rent a Sunriver house through them. BEWARE. We are reporting them to the Better Business Bureau!

Please read below (4th paragraph is most important). Please avoid an extremely stressful experience and possible scam with Clark & Bridget Norske and their rental company Sunriver Vacation Properties ( www.SunriverRentals.net and www.KamaoleSandsCondo.net ). Without going into all the details of our experience with them, I will mention the most notable and important pieces of information you will want to know before considering doing business with Clark and Bridget. A group of mine and my husband's friends rented a Sunriver home from them over this last winter (2014) for a few days. It seemed too good to be true with the price, size, and beauty of the home that was advertised (but the home ended up letting us down when we got there). First, they were not easy to make reservations with (charged us the wrong amount). We arrived during the coldest part of the winter (it was -20 degrees while we were in Sunriver). They did not winterize their home and we unfortunately got blamed and charged for their oversight. Both my husband and I came down with a very severe case of the flu while we were there and ended up having to take it very easy (watch movies, sleep, play games mostly) with our friends. Because it was so cold during our stay, we needed to chop wood for a fire to heat the home, but other than that, we did not go outside except to use the hot tub one night. We were very respectful of their property and treated it with care, leaving it cleaner than how we found it and even going above and beyond their "Exit" protocol. We paid for a cleaning service, but left the house with minimal clean up work to be done (took out all garbages, did all dishes, swept, vacuumed, started a load of laundry) regardless of being so sick. I have worked at a church for over 7 years and my husband is a firefighter - we take care of other people's properties and our friends are respectful and careful as well. We even tried calling Clark when we opened the hot tub and noticed that it was not in the best of condition (there was a broken piece that we did not want to get blamed for and we noticed a paper poster in their garage looked like it had been ruined), but none of their phone numbers were correctly listed, even the emergency line. One week after our stay I received a VERY disturbing email from Clark accusing me and my group of leaving their rental home a complete mess. Among other things, he accused us of using a knife to slash a poster in their garage, turning their outside water on and leaving it running (on purpose) and making a mess of their house. Because of this, they charged my credit card for $300 right away WITHOUT permission to do so. I had to block him from my credit card, but could not get the money back. His accusations were 100% false and we wondered if he was trying to scam us for extra Christmas money possibly? He threatened to get his lawyer involved right away and to sue us for additional charges, so we sought legal advice as well. Our lawyer went on to let us know that what Clark and his wife were doing was completely illegal and that they were, in his words, "crazy." Clark sent an email to my employer along with pictures of his "evidence" letting them know what kind of bad employee he thought I must be. He also called my work and tried leaving a voicemail for our head pastor to let him know what kind of bad person I am (that I slashed his poster, left his water on, and drank too much alcohol while on vacation). He also had his wife call a few days later trying to contact my boss to smear my name. They threatened to put my name on a "Never rent to again" list for VRBO and all of Sunriver (does that even exist?). He did all of this without once calling me to talk about the situation. He immediately accused me and took VERY harsh action. Needless to say, it was a terrible experience, a VERY expensive experience (and right before Christmas)...please never rent from them! I was so disturbed by this experience that it has scared me to rent from other people ever since. My husband, friends, and I are so confused and shocked at how Clark and Bridget choose to treat their guests. It was completely un-called for and bizarre. There are far better homes to rent and from people who will treat you with respect and not harass you or take your money without due cause. Avoid these people and their homes at all costs if you don't want to get sued for no reason while trying to take a peaceful vacation.

We rented a condo in the tennis village section where we found out no pool after I called the office. I was told if I wanted to drive to their office I could have sharc passes but not for free. we just wanted a fun day lounging by the pool. Big disappointment!!! Also office had to send someone over twice to hook up both TVs. That was silly and shouldn't have occurred. Next year no tennis village.

It was missing a top sheet and when I turned over the bedding I found blood on the sheets and other yucky things. I was so disgusted. I found new sheets in the closed and remade the bed . we called the renting company and we were told they can send out someone to make the bed but I had already made it myself. I asked for my cleaning fee to get refunded but they only afford us $50. I had taken pictures to show them just in case they wouldn't believe me I showed them the pictures, after they saw the pictures they apologized for the situation but they still didn't feel we deserved to get a full refund.
