My friends and I have been visiting Twin Lakes Resort annually to enjoy cocktails and appetizers on the deck and pick up some swag. Unfortunately, our most recent experience was quite disappointing. We received an appetizer that wasn't up to standard and politely informed our waitress. Her response was dismissive, saying, "Well, at least the sauce is good." When we went to pay and she noticed the appetizer was mostly untouched, she insisted we should have told her earlier -- even though we had already done so, calmly and respectfully, even after the manager came out rude and rolling her eyes at us. We decided to leave quietly and without causing a scene, but as we were entering our vehicle, the manager came out and was shockingly unprofessional -- mocking us and being blatantly disrespectful in front of other guests. It was incredibly humiliating and not something we ever expected after years of enjoying this place. This experience has really soured our view of the resort. Sadly, we'll be reconsidering future visits. read more

really nice place right out on the lake. the salt and pepper wings were crazy good! the bbq wings had a really unique nice sweet flavor. we all got burgers which were nice, their ranch is good too. the onion rings are CRISPYYYY it's really more crisp than onion so if you like that, this is the place for you. nice views, nice eats, our server was silly too. read more

The manager is a horrible person who likes to verbally assault people. The RV resort is a joke,broken picnic tables,crappy fire pits. The sewer connections aren't easy to hook up to. The road thru the campground needs more gravel cause it's a dust fest. read more

As a local, I've visited Twin Lakes Resort often and always love it! The lake is gorgeous, equipment rentals are easy with friendly staff, the grounds are well maintained, and the restaurant is a hidden gem with delicious food. The relaxed, fun vibe and great staff interactions make it special. I look forward to many more visits this summer! read more

During vivid, they've closed off their indoor seating, but that's even better. Now you sit out on the patio, overlooking the lake and shaded by tall evergreens. Lovely! The service was friendly and we were seated quickly, even just after noon on Sunday. They've taken back their menu a bit, which means they can focus on a few things really well. The cheeseburger on the menus were offered in a variety of sizes, all with mix and match additions: sauteed mushrooms, sauteed onions, etc. Sweet potato fries or double fried fries. Onion rings. All delicious. They were out of mozzarella sticks, but our server recommended the gouda bits which were actually delicious. The chicken ceaser salad wrap was a little too much salad and not enough chicken, but my sister in law still found it yummy. Our cheeseburgers weren't too dry, and they were huge. We love this place and we never miss a chance to stop on our way home from camping. Be warned though. Since it is part of a lake resort with campgrounds and a day use lake, parking is at a premium. read more

Drinks are delicious! Food is great! I ordered the smoked chicken wings, friend had the mozzarella sticks and other friend decided to try something different that we never had before, the shishito peppers. We tried to look it up but we had no phone service. Everything was wonderful except for the peppers. Wasn't much favor to them except for the sauce. Waitress asked how everything was and we were honest and told her we loved everything except for those. She said but the sauce is good. And walked away. When we were done we were handing her our bills with card and cash, I half joking asked if we could get a discount for the peppers being we didn't eat most of them. She tossed our bills on the table and said she would have to talk to the manager. I could tell I upset her and almost wished I didn't even say anything. Then my friend could see them talking and pointing at her. She came back and said she only had to pay for her drinks. My friend said sorry she upset her. She said she is fine. My friend then said will clearly you are not, we can tell. She then said we need to be honest for now on and let her know ahead of time so she could have got us something different. We then said 'we did let you know" Manager comes up and asked how we liked the other food? And I said I loved it. She said "Good, glad you liked it" and is everything ok here? ( She was being very sarcastic) My friend then said she just thought that they were deep-fried, didn't realize what she was ordering. Manager rolled her eyes and shook her head and said the menu does not say that and walked away. We were so embarrassed how they were treating us. As we were leaving walking to my truck, my friend was saying how much money we just spent there and to be treated like that. (We were outside in front of the store) Manager must have been standing by the screen door because she came out and yelled at us "Thank you for all the money!" "The menu does not say fried" "Have a nice day!" Very terrible customer service!! We just did not like the peppers, we would have paid anyways, was not that big of deal. Really great place for a day trip and use. Good beach area with paddle board, kayak and paddle boat rentals. Restrooms are adjacent to the beach. Parking is no problem with a big lot. Bring your picnic goodies but beware of the little chipmunks and black birds.....they are fast and efficient at stealing your left out food...lol We were here in August and the water is really comfortably warm. Looks clean too. Nice restaraunt located a short walk from the beach with patio dining. Theres also cabin like rentals. read more

The staff was busy but on point and attentive and friendly! Not a fan of the tap water definitely not filtered.. But most importantly the new owners are doing good! Many locals love to eat here during the week but this eclectic menu and prices won't bring many people back. So sorry. My husband and I ate there last night, heard the Prime Rib dinner was great, wrong. We had reservations, and were a little early, we were seated outside. We understood that there was a large party next to us, so our waitress was busy. When the dinner did come, the rolls were not done, actually cold & doughy in the middle, salad was wilted, bake potato was not done and the actual steak was 2/3 fat. We asked for medium,mine was well done and my husbands was rare, and his the cut was obviously cut somewhat thicker. Overall they have a lot to learn about dinner. Photo is what was left after we cut the fat off and came home. Would not recommend dinner there at this point. read more

A little slice of heaven! We came here while visiting the area to spend the day at the lake with our five year old and two year old boys. We had a wonderful time! We rented a row boat and fishing pole and ate at the cafe so we got a lot of interaction with the staff. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The lake is perfect for little ones. Not too big, calm waters that were nice and warm in the summer sun, and lots of soft, sandy beach areas. We had a great time and would definitely visit again next time we're in the area. read more

Stayed three days and fished. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Facilities are first rate for a resort of this type. The restaurant is excellent. The food is upscale cuisine with excellent specials. It has a well stocked store with tackle and gear as well as convenience store food items. Cabins are neat and clean with a deck overlooking the lake. Full size fridge in room, coffee pot, microwave and a counter top range. Comfortable bed. Boat rentals are $40-60 a day no motors allowed on lake, but the lake is small enough you can row anywhere to fish easily. read more

Let me start with I Never leave bad reviews ... I usually leave no review rather than a bad one... Absolutely beautiful view and atmosphere .... How the restaurant stays in business is beyond me .... Food was not fit to be served. Salad came out of the bottom if a bag and was soggy with brown slime .... And not just mine 2 of us had same issue ... Fish was soggy batter was mushy and fish was oozing water or fluid... chicken fried steak was rock hard and inedible around the edges ... broccoli was cold... mashed potatoes where like gumbo... shrimp was tiny over battered and over cooked couldn't even for sure say there was any shrimp in the batter... It was like eating in a low class bad bar ... I know timing could have been bad but they really missed in everything ... I gave 2 stars ... one for the view and one for the waiter... he did a good job ... The prices where more expensive than Sturgis during the rally ... $20 bucks for 4 inedible pieces of fish with no fries and a small brown slim salad both not fit for human consumption $19 for the shrimp with a small bowl edible Ceasar salad $16 for a chicken fried dried out steak and $10 for 6oz margaritas ( well kinda to salt on rim) in a small short bar glass ... Total bill $91 ... we ate out while on the entire trip to the area and this was not only the most expensive meal but by far the most disappointing one .... I am sorry but I really hope the ones in charge read this and fix A lot of things... I love small businesses and only wish the restaurant at this place the best in improving pretty much Everything in their kitchen .... read more

The new ownership is charging four star prices for one star quality food. They have taken a nice destination for locals and vacationers alike and ruined it by cutting the quality of the ingredients, significantly increasing the prices, and poorly cooking the food. The food consisted of an over cooked paddies, slathered in too much sauce, with condiments that had to be picked off, served with soggy fries. You can find a better burger at a dive bar. The beer selection on tap leaves a lot to be desired there is three IPAs and one cheap pub beer. The hipster crowd they are trying to entice with basically all IPAs on the tap list will be disappointed with the food. This "reworked" menus leaves a lot to be desired and it needs to be reworked again. Start with quality ingredients, hire staff the can adequately prepare the food and provide a selection of options fitting the resort in your name. If you do this you will become a destination that people will want to go to. Until the new owners fix these issues you are better off stoping off somewhere else to buy a picnic lunch and enjoy the lake having a decent meal. I find it interesting that a seasonal resort restaurant is only open 5 days a week. You are losing out on a lot of business especially this year where the Independence day holiday spans the days you are closed. read more

What a pleasant surprise this Cafe was for dinner. Exceptional service, the food was prepared with care, and all with a backdrop of a gorgeous sunset on the lake. Only one shortcoming here: beverages are limited to wine, beer, water and sodas. If you can get past that, this place is perfect for groups 6 and below. Went for a sightseeing tour around the Cascade Lakes and took a chance on the little café at this resort. Absolutely exceeded expectations. I'll totally admit that I wasn't expecting much.... these seasonal types sometimes give you the feeling that they know you have no other options and they really don't show any care. Not here! In hindsight I wish I had gone for the lunch special - Prime Rib Sandwich - but we had more serious eating to do in the evening. Did see a lot of them roam past though, 1/2-3/4 slab of Prime Rib slapped on a roll? Nice. Tuna melt got thumbs up between bites, regular tuna sandwich was massive. Lots of fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and a healthy serving of tuna. We had a dietary request of 'no bun' and a swap for fries and there wasn't a negative reaction at all. Super willing to please. Here's the deal though. The Grilled Cheese of Perfection (it has a shorter name on the menu mind you). Two slices of squishy potato bread, American "cheese" - my one place I dream of fake cheese - toasted on the griddle. Hey baby. And all for under $7 with fries. Naughty? Absolutely. Utterly happy lunch diner? You better believe it. Lovely view of South Twin Lake. Small patio with standard plastic chairs and such but hey, this is a summer place. Inside looked very cute, wood panels and such. Everything was clean and the staff very friendly. Apparently they have nightly specials and I have a feeling we'll be going back for the Saturday Prime Rib. Maybe they'll give me a side of Grilled Cheese?? A girl can dream. read more

Stayed here over the 4th of July. Great site. By far the best of our 1600 mile trip from AZ to OR. The fire ring had garbage in it from previous campers. Once the employee at the lodge was notified someone immediately came over and cleaned it up and apologized. We are already looking at future reservations and will be brining our kayaks. read more

This place is a small location. We stayed at the campground, it was maintained each day but in need of updating. The campground is very dusty and in need of some road base or rock to keep the dust down. Bathroom and shower are barely functioning and need new toilets with better installation. The water in the camp ground is very hard water with a stinky smell, not very clean. The lakes are small, in the Midwest we call them ponds. They twin lakes are clean, water is clear and picturesque. The water on wickiup reservoir is not clean or clear in the Chanel, it worked for cooling off but left you feeling not very clean. The campground was quiet every night at 10pm. Overall we had a pleasant first visit, we will not visit this one again simply because there are better options with better amenities in close proximity. Happy camping wherever the road takes you. read more

Started off with a decent lunch on the patio, food was okay, but I was with great company so it worked out. After lunch we wanted to use the lake, we had brought paddleboards, floaties, etc. On our way to the cars, staff from the resort started yelling at us about where we parked. It was a busy weekend and parking was slim, but we had all found parking spots that were NOT marked as "no parking". There is a way to talk to people...more importantly...a way to talk to customers and the staff was beyond rude & when we asked where we should park, we just got snotty responses. There are SO many beautiful lakes here in Central Oregon, I wouldn't give this lake my business ever again based on the way they talk to customers. read more

We've been visiting this resort for 4 decades. We have seen many owners come and go. Each owner has maintained the homey, casual, outdoor paradise here in the high lakes region of Oregon. Simply beautiful. However, the restaurant has taken a wrong turn. It is trying to be something that it simply is not. After a morning of fishing on the lake, a fisherman might like a burger, fry and drink. It will now cost him at least $16.00! After camping a few nights in the campground, a young family might like a dinner on the patio. But the prices make it out of reach for the average family. We ate dinner there last week and one member of our group ordered the taco salad. It was served on a plate with no "shell bowl", just a few tortilla chips on the side. Sad. Get a clue, new owners. This is not "The Ritz". It is a camping, fishing paradise where average families are now priced out of the market. read more

Went there for Prime Rib ... Should have been labeled Sub-Prime Rib. Wine options very limited; best to bring ones own, or enjoy water, and have better wine at home. Started with the Clam Chowder; served barely warm, not hot. We both ordered Medium Rare. One came in cut thick, Medium Well; the other came in half-fat, much more Medium, after the fat was trimmed away there was perhaps 1/2 - 1/3 of the meat left. The fat had more flavor than the meat. This was the smallest & least flavored Prime Rib I have ever had - apparently the salt, pepper, and garlic were missing from the kitchen. The mashed potatoes would have been acceptable had they not been covered in 'gravy' (read: what tasted like lard renderings flavored with butter); again, no salt or pepper, and the flour wasn't cooked out it, and could still be tasted. Even the au jus was tasteless. The staff seemed perplexed by what dinners went where, and we were served another tables' food before redirection. They are mostly polite, but they clearly didn't like the input of less than luke warm chowder. This may have been from too much time waiting to be served after dished, and whatever heat was there only warming the porcelain. Cleanliness was ok; I was concerned about drinking the yellow water served in a clear glass container, only to discover it was the glass which was discolored and yellowed. We politely declined (any additional exposure to bad food & declined) dessert. I would recommend getting the best Ribeyes' you can find at your local store, along with a better bottle of wine, and staying home. I wont be back. read more

This was our very first trip to Twin Lakes Resort and we could not have been more excited for our 3 night stay in cabin #6 for the last long weekend of summer. We were impressed with the natural beauty of the lake and the amenities the resort had to offer (in particular the coffee shop and the boat rentals). The lake front cabins themselves are beautifully located and are dated and rustic in nature, but it is an outdoor adventure so all that is required is a CLEAN spot to prepare meals and retire for the evening. I wish our review could end with the same positivity in which it started. Very early one morning we heard some scratching/squeaking noises. Given the bulk of our time had been outside enjoying nature, we started to pay a little more attention to the inside of the cabin. To our dismay we happened upon many droppings throughout the cabin and then saw a large mouse in the washroom. I appreciate we are in the woods however this didn't appear to be a one off where a mouse accidentally entered our cottage. Given the droppings and now mouse, we were no longer comfortable staying so we immediately packed, cleaned our cabin and proceeded to the store to check out very early in the morning after only 2 nights. When we shared why we were having to leave early, we were notified it was a really bad year for rodents and there were a lot of them - they could set traps. Sadly our opinion was this wasn't a one off situation whereby a trap would sort the issue so we felt unnerved and we had to leave. I emailed the manager to share our concerns and kindly requested that the cost of our last night stay be refunded as we would need to incur additional lodging costs to secure a clean and rodent free room for the last night. The manager's response was that it is impossible to keep wildlife out of any structure in central Oregon, they would promptly set traps, and that guests depart early for many reasons and their policy is to not refund. This response added severe insult to injury to us. Not only was our long weekend disrupted, we incurred additional unnecessary lodging costs. It's not what happened, rather the manager was not prepared to make a bad situation right for their customers. Given the droppings we found, this appeared to us to not be a one off mouse in cabin scenario. As such we can't recommend this resort to anyone and sadly will not be comfortable returning. read more
