French toast, scrambled egg and sausage with coffee
    Joelle M.

Had the French toast with an egg scrambled and sausage patty. Coffee and a water. Fast friendly service and under $20 w/tip included. Atmosphere was lively but not loud, had football game on and it was a Sunday around 9:30am. Nice place and it's a place of many returns.

First time at Mercer's Restaurant. What a pleasant surprise. Ordered the Hatch Chili Omelette with home fries and a toasted English Muffin. Friend ordered the same with two large pancakes. Omelette had three cluck berries. Food and service were excellent, prices very reasonable. Ambience is old school or just "old." Place has been here since 1987. Located in strip mall. All good here.

Our First time at Merced's restaurant. We took Mom for her 89th birthday. Absolutely blown away by the portions and service. Flor R was our waitress and she was the best. So attentive and helpful. Super friendly and treated all of us like old friends. The atmosphere is reminiscent of an older diner or cafe experience. Very much like restaurants that we grew up with. Brookshires on 15th and Mc Dowel comes to mind,( which is now a Mexican restaurant but a great memory. Also similar to My Mother's type of food and Ambiance. All of the staff were super friendly and we wanted for nothing. Mom ordered the Half Rack of ribs and comes with 3 sides. Paul ordered All You can Eat Pancakes and they start you out with 5 big pancakes. I ordered the All you can Eat Shrimp and Fish with Chips, also came with 3 sides. Tuesday meals come with Ice cream, so Mom took her Ice Cream to go. Rocky Toda. Flor even put a candle in it! Adorable!! Great experience and would highly recommend. Make sure to come with a BIG appetite!!

We were looking for a good cafe/diner place where we came to do some business and Mercer's popped up. I love the greasy spoon restaurants and this place was perfect. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The menu has everything to include Monte Cristo, which I got. It was amazing. Everything was prepared well and tasted great. The outside of the building is nothing to write home about, but once inside the diner vibe was popping. Lots of seating able to accommodate groups large and small. We will definitely come back when in the area! As another reviewer mentioned, my wife made the exact same comment- that most patrons were elderly (we were the youngest in the joint at 52) and the staff were all young. lol. Such a fun place.

Definitely Old School, coffee is okay, good music, a lot of regulars which come in daily. Needs updating but then again it would change the whole perception of this Breakfast spot. CS was fine, seat yourself, plenty of food see photos.

I have been here a few times. The outside of this place has seen better days. It's been here quite a while and the majority of the businesses in the strip mall appear to be gone. The parking lot looks like a third world country. Don't worry, my review gets better from here... This place shows its age, but it is a wonderful place with a lot of different menu items. They serve breakfast all day, which is also great. Everything I've had has been delicious. The prices are pretty decent and you can have a good meal for about the same price as going to a fast food place. I've been here for breakfast, their fish fry and today I had a patty melt. Everything is always above average and today the service was excellent thanks to our server, Chris.

I guess I'm a little old school and do like a nice cafe. I like home cooking and southern fare like chicken fried steak or liver and onions. So, I Yelped restarants looking for new places to try. Among others, I found Mercer's. It's located at the end of an old strip mall in Peoria. Upon entering, I noticed a Hero's wall which I thought was very nice. The place was busy, so it took about 10 minutes to be seated. I did enjoy browsing the photos while I waited. The place is simply decorated and is reminiscent of the 60's and 70's. It was abuzz with what appears to be career severs, which is usually a good sign. While the menu is comprehensive, I came here specifically to find good liver and onions. My wife decided on a Taco Salad. The liver and onions were good and came with three sides! I got a loaded baked potato, coleslaw and corn. I did ask for brown gravy to go with my liver and onions, but didn't care for it much. It and the corn tasted like they came out of a can. Just okay, not great. Otherwise everything else was fine and my wife did enjoy her salad. Mercer's is an honest to goodness old school diner with all that you would expect to find for any craving. Yep, I will be back!

Went in for brunch and was seated immediately. The restaurant is open, roomy, and has a fast-paced mom-and-pop diner vibe. They have daily specials and a big menu with plenty to choose from. Drinks are constantly refilled--whether coffee (a bit watery and not the best) or water, they keep it coming. We ordered the pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon. The pancakes were thick, fluffy, and literally the size of the plate! Bacon was thick-cut and perfectly cooked. Eggs were standard--nothing special, but not bad either. We also had the taco omelet with hash browns. The omelet was packed with tasty ingredients, fluffy, and very filling. Hash browns were okay, but I personally prefer a crispier top and edges. Overall, the food was good, the portions are huge, and the prices are great for what you get. The staff is kind, quick, and attentive. Tip: Highly recommend the home-style potatoes--they were delicious!

We made a reservation online ahead of time just in case there was a rush, and we were glad we did. The restaurant is conveniently located in the Park West Plaza area, surrounded by several other businesses, and there was plenty of parking available. Upon arrival, the hostess was warm, friendly, and welcoming. She checked us in promptly and escorted us to our table right away. Our server, Laura, was absolutely outstanding. She was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely seemed to enjoy providing great customer service. She answered all of our questions about the menu and drink options, kept our beverages refilled, and cleared our plates promptly without us ever having to ask. Laura truly helped make our dining experience exceptional. Although the restaurant was moderately busy due to the World Cup game, we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly our food arrived. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. For our meal, we ordered: * Two Chicken Sandwiches with fries and ranch on the side * A Jammed Up Burger cooked well-done with extra Jammed Up toppings served on the side The food was excellent. The chicken sandwiches were flavorful, and the fries were perfectly prepared. The Jammed Up Burger was also delicious. Our only minor suggestion would be that the Jammed Up sauce could be blended a bit smoother, as it was somewhat chunky. However, the flavor was still fantastic. One of our favorite features is the Happy Hour, which is offered seven days a week. We understand it runs from approximately 2:30 or 3:00 PM until 5:30 PM and then returns again from 8:00 PM until closing. Happy Hour includes select appetizers and drinks, making it a great value. There was a small discrepancy regarding the rotating cocktail pricing. Our server mentioned it was $5 during Happy Hour, while the menu listed it at $7. We're not sure if the pricing recently changed or if there was simply a misunderstanding, but it may be worth clarifying for future guests. The atmosphere was one of the highlights of our visit. The décor is beautiful, modern, and inviting. There is ample outdoor seating, which would be especially enjoyable during cooler evenings. The patio area features televisions and games, creating a fun and relaxed environment for groups and families. We also noticed what appeared to be a setup for live music. While we're not certain which days performances take place, it would be wonderful to see live music offered regularly on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. Overall, the service, food, atmosphere, and overall vibe were excellent. Laura provided outstanding customer service, and every aspect of our visit made for a memorable afternoon. We will definitely be returning and look forward to our next visit.

Last night we went for dinner and the service was absolutely awful. The food wasn't great. I feel like this building was built on an Indian burial ground because nothing seems to survive here. The atmosphere is great. The patio music is insanely way too loud. There were only two tables with people at it so we asked if the music could be turned down a smidge as we could not hear one another at all. We were not accommodated. We ended up having to leave as beautiful as it is. I don't know if our waitress was new, but she kind of argued with my friend when she asked for warm chicken on her jalapeño Caesar. She said she didn't know if that was something they can do and I just blurted out give her warm chicken on her salad and then when her salad came, it was literally drenched in Caesar dressing. A quarter of the bowl was full as if someone forgot to actually put the salad in the bowl. My friend had to actually ask for a bowl of salad so that she can fill up the bowl and soak up the drenched salad that was sitting in the bowl. My Chicken Caprese wasn't bad but it was wrapped in very wilty lettuce that just looked gross. The french fries felt extremely hard and stale at the same time. The chicken was so tough when I was cutting it, my french fries were falling on the floor and all over the table. We sat with dirty dishes for quite a long time could not find our waitress. I will never go back here. I don't anticipate it will be open for very long. Hubby ordered the Spicy Vodka pasta. His roll was soggy as it came on the pasta (sauce) He wanted to ask for cheese but not one staff member was around to ask for the entirety of our meal. He was done before we saw our waitress again. I should have known when it was 6pm and we were able to secure a 645 reservation. Whoever owns this place should be there every day for a month and regulate what is happening there

She was so kind, super attentive, and made a point to make eye contact and engage with everyone at the table. It was my dad's birthday, and they brought out a birthday treat for him, which was such a nice, thoughtful touch. However, the check-in process was very uncomfortable. The host who greeted us didn't make eye contact with me at all, a person with a disability. Instead of speaking to me directly, he asked the person I was with if I needed a child's menu. As an adult, being talked about rather than talked to was rude and honestly pretty embarrassing. It would have been much more professional to provide standard menus for everyone or just ask me directly if I needed anything specific. The kitchen definitely knows what they are doing. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious: The bread and butter were warm and a great start. We had the bruschetta and a shrimp appetizer, both were hits. Our table ordered the cheeseburger and fries, the salmon, and two orders of the short ribs. Everyone loved their meal and had zero complaints about the food quality. The restaurant was packed and had a high-energy vibe, but the music was way too loud, it made it a bit hard to talk. The lighting was also a bit strange; it was very dark, and at several points, the lights would flicker or completely turn off and on again, which was a bit distracting. If you want to go on a Sunday evening like we did (6:00 PM), definitely plan ahead! We made our reservation a couple of days before, but by the time our day arrived, they were completely booked. I'd recommend making a reservation at least a week in advance to be safe. I would definitely come back for the food and the excellent waitstaff service, but I really hope management works with their hosting team on how to treat every guest with basic respect and direct communication.

The bartender was friendly and attentive, and took our order quickly. By the time we arrived they had already sold out of the bone marrow small plate and the tomahawk steak. Totally understandable for the last seating of the night, but those were two of the dishes we were really looking forward to trying. The main reason for 1 less star. It's a cool little spot for drinks and a gourmet bite. The kitchen, bar, and seating area are fairly compact. Even though the kitchen is ventilated, you can still feel a bit of the heat and smoke coming off the grill. We ordered the grilled romaine salad (they do charge a small upcharge if you split plates), along with the bao buns and the wagyu meatballs. Everything was well presented, tasty. Overall, a great option for the west side if you're looking for elevated bar bites and good drinks. My tip: grab an earlier reservation if you can, so you have a better chance at the popular dishes before they sell out.
