Have been in Menards a few times. Yes- lots of products to choose from, but service is terrible. I will never walk in there again. Had money in hand to buy a very expensive refrigerator - but told WE would have to drive to St. Joseph Missouri (90+ miles away) and pick it up ourselves. WHAT? They always have a great selection of products and the service is excellent. The return desk folks are prompt and courteous and the employees at the back for building materials, etc. are really good at helping you find what you're looking for. The prices are on par with similar stores, if not a bit cheaper and getting the 11% rebate to use in store has save us hundreds over the years. read more

Menards completely takes advantages of their customers. They charged me a $38 restocking fee for regular brand new jeans. Thats crazy. when are jeans like a custom countertop or cabinet or sink ? it was literally just jeans they hadn't had in stock the last two months. apparently they charge a 25% restocking fee. that is so un American and unlike the other big box stores. read more

This is my "go to for everything home" store!! Isles are ALWAYS clean, organized, and freshly stocked. The employees are right there to help, never lurking, or hiding like Lowe's! Management is also extremely informed on new products and they are very approachable unlike nation wide Lowe's management. Menards is the best! Even in the middle of Covid 19 things happen and you need to go to the store. I needed some hardware/tool for our garage door this past week and the clerk that helped me was amazing as Menards staff always are. She made sure I had what I needed and that everything was the right size. I got a few more items while I was there and want to say cudos to Menards. Next level totalitarian complex with gestapo as employees! There have been dozens of people that have been literally CHASED out of this store due to their insane mask enforcement! But I felt that those folks had it coming or were over exaggerating. NOPE, they were not! My wife and I were in the lighting section for 30 minutes without ONE person coming over to offer assistance. I kid you not the SECOND she took her mask down the Gestapo appeared and DEMANDED she pull the mask back up and then stomped off with such pleasure. But yet, couldn't find the strength to ask if we needed any help! The ppl giving Menards a low review are probably about the lowest IQ idiots in Topeka. Menards is TIERS above HD or Lowes. Ok, lets just say it doesn't really matter where you show, HD, Lowes or Menards, and they are all withing 2mins driving distance of each other, Heck Lowes is a street away from Menards!!!. However, i find Menards employees great and easy to work with, also Menards goes beyond customer retention by having those awesome rebates. Ok, having been in KS for less than a year, this is what i notice about Menards, they'll have their ads up for the week on Sat Night, and they'll usually rotate between 11% off everything, vs. big budget rebates to FAR(free after rebate). Doing these Menards rebates is easy, why? cuz i'm smarter than the average bear. All you gotta do is just get those avery sticker labels and print up like 100, and stick em on each rebate you get, or get an address stamp. Then just accumulate your rebates and mail em out on the 3rd or if you want to push it, the 4th week of your first purchase, you can put em all in the same envelope. A month later you get your rebate check back, and you're good, usually i get a few hundred back, cuz i just buy the FAR items. Do i need 12 metal round tin cans??? not now, but they're Free after rebate and i have a huge basement. read more

I am pissed... we purchased a lawn mower and it literally started smoking 5 minutes into using it for the very FIRST time and we brought it in the exchange and they gave us some bullshit excuse that they couldn't take back a gas operated machine with gasoline in it without taking it to a shop first. This is the most asinine rule, especially since there is no way to tell if the product is a POS unless it has gas and oil in it! Also, there was no sign in the gas powered equipment aisle stating this rule. So, essentially they are selling crap products and don't stand behind the product. Last week was the first time I had ever shopped at Menards; In the last week I have spent over $600 there. But I can honestly tell you that I will never shop there again. They refuse to give me the thermostat back. I asked for another manager. "He'll just tell you the same thing" Which he did. I left the store with no thermostat, and no refund. Utter BS. I have searched many times for a way to get a review of the service my friend and I received yesterday to the company itself, but there doesn't seem to be any opportunity to do so. I find that strange as their website states in many places that they are "dedicated to service and quality". Wouldn't they want to know if the employees at their locations are living up to that standard? As for the Topeka, KS location (store #: 3291), the customer service we experienced yesterday (Friday July 29th, 2022) was nowhere near something to which they were "dedicated". As we entered the store, I spoke with an employee about a part I was bringing in with me. I wanted to make sure that I didn't need to mark it in some way as to avoid any issues at check out. She informed me that it was fine if I brought it in and that it did not need to be marked in any way to show that I had brought it with me. My friend and I first went on the hunt for the screws we needed for our project. An employee was working in that exact aisle yet never once offered to help us (we were discussing sizes of screws we might need for a good 20 minutes right next to her). We decided on what we thought we might need and moved on. We then asked another employee we came across where the wood we were looking for was located. She acted as though we were an inconvenience to direct, but helped us anyway by simply pointing in the general location. After finding it, we decided on the one we wanted to use, but needed assistance getting to the board we wanted to purchase and have cut. When we asked the two men (one who's name was Thomas according to his name tag) they simply stood there and stared at us like they had no clue what we were talking about. We explained further to which Thomas replied "what do you want us to do about that?" Upon explaining even further he told the other man with him "that's gonna be on you." They both proceeded to continue to just stand there staring at us. We explained EVEN further (literally all we wanted them to do was move the 5 broken and bowed 10' boards off of the one we wanted to get to as they were heavy and get us out the board we were wanting to purchase) and FINALLY the other man proceeded to get out our board. Once the board was on the cart, we asked if it could be cut to the right sizes we needed (6' and 4'...simple). Thomas replied "yeah." We inquired if he could do that for us or if we needed to take it to another section of the department in order to have it cut. Once again we received rude replies of "you want me to do that?" "you could just do it and I can show you how to do the saw" "oh...you want me to do that. You gonna have to pay for it first." "take it to the front and pay." We were not offered help maneuvering the workers cart with our 10' board on it to the front of the store and after we had done so ourselves and paid for our items, I was stopped by the cashier (Justin) regarding the item I had brought into the store with me. I informed him that I had asked the woman at the entryway if we needed to mark it to avoid this exact situation to which he responded "well if you say so." I felt that he was insinuating that I was trying to steal the item I had brought in with me. I reiterated that I wasn't just "saying so", but that it was exactly what had happened and he again just said "I guess." I told him that I could go get the woman I had spoken to and he denied that offer so we moved on. After this, I saw that Thomas (the man who was SUPPOSED to be waiting for us at the back in order to cut our board) was passing by. I promptly stopped him and informed him that we were ready for his help. My friend was waiting to come back through the checkout lane as she did not want to run into the other customers in that line with the wood or the employee cart that I'm pretty sure we weren't supposed to be maneuvering in the first place. He waited all of 10 seconds and then asked with irritation "what's the problem here?" I explained she was waiting for the lane to clear (which now only had one person finishing up their purchase) and he let out a huge impatient sigh, walked over to her and rushed her through past the other customer. We then walked all the way to the saw with him (as he continued to make us push the cart with our 10' board on it) and AGAIN tried to get us to cut it ourselves. We ONCE AGAIN proceeded to explain to him that we were NOT comfortable using that particular power tool. He cut our wood and AGAIN proceeded to just stare at us when he was done. We thanked him and I thought he would put the wood in our cart, but instead I simply stated "ok well I guess I'll load it in our cart and we'll be on our way." We left and I questioned why ANYONE would do business at this location when the customer service is so terrible! We will not be doing business here ever again! read more

My first visit and most likely last. I Walked by ten or so employees (a manager, two cashiers, two workers at the exit door, a door greeter or someone just hanging out at the front, and several stockers; not one said hello or offered to help me find water heaters. I walked around the store couldn't find the hot water heaters and left. The store is really laid out weird. You'll find grocery items on the end caps of hardware sections... Someone with attention deficet disorder must've laid out the store. I'm assuming they don't sell hot water heaters as I didn't see any. read more

Menards is a chain of home improvement stores in the midwest. This store is layed out like their other stores, so if you've been in one, you know where everything is already. Went here on their official "Grand Opening". Fortunately, it was raining outside so that kept some people away for a bit, so it wasn't as bad. However, by the time I left, more people were coming in and it was becoming a madhouse. I don't blame the store management though: Low prices and a few freebies does that. Menards sells the same items any home improvement place like Lowes or Home Depot sells. Prices on items are cheaper, however, the quality tends to be cheaper too, although not as cheap as Harbor Freight. Unlike the other places, they also have a small grocery section, which is useful if you don't want to make a second stop to get something. Customer service is very good. People are knowledgeable in where items are located. Very useful since many items, especially their loss leaders, were out of place. However, seemed like not everybody was ready for their big sale. Some items weren't marked correctly, but they did scan correctly. Overall, Menards is trying to get into a crowded market where there's already two other stores nearby selling the same things. Unfortunately, Topeka really isn't big enough to support 3 similar stores in the same place. One will be gone in a few years, but no idea which one. Menards will have to play to their advantage if they don't want to be the odd man out. read more

I got tired of going to Lowes and being ignored by the employees, having to wait forever to get checked out by one of two employees working the register, and dealing with the old asshole that works in the plumbing department. Worst customer service!! I have tried numerous times to give them a chance and I'm now done. When in the store can't find anyone to help. When go to a desk they will try their best to ignore you or continue to discuss personal items with coworkers while you stand there waiting for help. Very S-L-O-W no matter where you are in the store. No one looks like they enjoy their job at all! Today tried to return some lumber that had used a rebate for. The original sale was over $300 and we were returning $65 worth of lumber. Received the whole refund in another rebate. Instead of allowing the rebate to go towards the $235 lumber that we used. Love this place. I went with a vague idea of what I wanted to do. I want to make fire pit myself. They had a help desk that assist with projects he even was able to tell me exactly how many stones I needed and what rocks for the inside and the best type of adhesive. I went to the back gate and got loaded up. The forklift driver was sort of a idiot and complained about the job but I still give 5 stars because I went inside for one item I missed and the staff member went above and beyond to help me and was very nice even tho I hadn't even told him about the experience I had with the fork lift driver lol. I'm pregnant so I didn't really want to do much walking looking for things so I had 3 very nice workers who knew exactly where things were (if they didn't they used there radio to find out) and were willing to go to another part of the store to help me find it...unlike a lot of other big stores such as Lowe's read more

My all time favorite store in Topeka. Great guest service and everything is easy to find. I just take my time and look around find everything I need. Water heaters, flooring and paint etc. there a few down falls of this store. They need more cashiers and more help in guest order pick up and shipping. (GOPS) But other then those two thing that are a huge impact in my part should be fixed. read more
