I'm a Lowe's girl, but the staff at Menards really impressed me today. We were asked several times by different associates we walked by if we needed help with anything or if we were finding everything okay. Everyone was extremely helpful and seemed equally knowledgable on their products. I really liked the outdoor gardening section in particular this year. We walked out with more flowers than we needed because the cost was just too much of a bargain. One particular worker saw us looking at patio furniture, asked if we needed help, and returned with the set we needed in less than five minutes, escorted us to check out, helped us locate the rebate section, and loaded everything into our car with a smile on his face and hardworking attitude. It made what is usually a trip I dread (hardware stores/furniture stores in general) easy and enjoyable. I'll be choosing Menards from now on. They sold me on that change today. Menards doesn't believe disabled adults need mobility carts. The store in West Lansing, MI has only one operating cart! Of course it is always in use. They are very disrespectful of disabled customers. My husband had to walk through the store for needed items despite being in pain. We've complained before without any action taken by the store. They harassed us about receipts from the pickup area. They treat you like a criminal! Don't shop here. read more

Zero if possible. As a long time, loyal customer, I am disheartened and frankly disgusted by the way I've been treated the last month. Yes, month! I ordered a product in-store, at the same time as purchasing other items and the employee said I'd receive a call or email in a couple weeks once the item had shipped. After a bit passed the time I hadn't heard anything so I stopped in to check in on it. To both of our surprise, and mistake, we saw and realized the order had a delivery date of the year 2027. I asked if it was real, or a typo, or something that could be addressed and fixed. Then he checked for it online, and the item and all its variations were gone, even the corresponding sku number was attached to a different item all of a sudden. He was unsure and was eager to help, get more information from the vendor. He notated my contact info, and said he would get back to me soon. Almost a week later, I was called and told the item was no longer available to Menards, and that I would need to be refunded for it. I said okay, but that I had just had foot surgery literally 2 days ago, and that I would be in for the refund as soon as medically allowed to be up and on my feet again. Since then, that Menards store has called me EIGHT times, leaving voicemails asking me to come in for the refund, it had only been a month. I let them know I had an appointment that week and would then know better when I could make it in. She was insistent I come in, to which I asked why it was so urgent I rush foot surgery recovery to come in for an error in your system. It was said to me that the paperwork was cluttering up the work area and needed to be cleared up. Are seriously expecting me to believe a big box company of your stature doesn't have filing cabinets or proper processes to keep paperwork in order? I went in yesterday to get the refund, however I was denied the refund of the money I paid because the card I used was no longer active- it had expired. Credit and debit cards all come with expiration dates that are enforced and are out of the cardholder's control. So, I was told that basically, my money is being held hostage and the refund was available as store credit only, regardless of the receipt in my hand or the base error being of your cause. This is wholly unacceptable and certainly feels not legal at all. I am prepared to provide the dates and times of the phone calls if necessary. First time at this location. We found it to be better staffed than the Novi location we go to. Customer service was pleasant and helpful. The Christmas area was tidy although not everything was correctly labeled on the shelves for the Christmas items. We were easily able to find a team member to ask questions to. There seems to be more of them at this location as well as more lanes open. All in all our shopping experience was a good one. I would definitely return to this location in the future read more

I used to like this store alot more....it seems to get worse and worse as time passes. Terrible merchandising, stuff just random everywhere. Prices not particularly low or even competitive. I purchased a Troy built mower for $359.00 from the Menards on Long Blvd in Lansing, Michigan and it doesn't work. I was given a number to take it to someone else to look at it to see if it can be fixed. So the only way they will refund it or exchange it is if it can not be fixed. I paid full price for a lawn mower that has to be repaired before I can even use it or return it because I had already put oil and gas in it. But my question is how would I have known if it worked or not if I hadn't put the fuel and oil in it? But the worst part of my visit was, the lady who assisted me advice was I shouldn't have brought a cheap lawn more. What exactly do they consider a cheap lawn mower Smdh. We ordered a dishwasher online. We drove and picked it up. Nowhere online does it say you must also buy the fill line or power cord in addition to buying the dishwasher. When I call I am informed. we also were not informed when we picked it up that we may want to purchase this. I live 45 minutes away from this crappy company. I should have ordered from HomeDepot. At least they have truth in advertising and are helpful on getting everything I need at once. All me adds would say was what do you want me to do. hmmmmmmm how about make it right? Great store for people with common sense, and your typical hardware repairs. What people don't understand about the store is THEY DO NOT SELL EVERYTHING. You're going to have specialty parts for certain things and fixtures In your house that might not be at the store. I called Menards twice on two different days and ask them about returning carpet pad both people I talked to said that I could with no problem at all I load up a big heavy 80 lb roll of carpet pad to return drive 20 miles to the South Lansing Menards store to return it carry it in and some little prick a****** manager in the return department basically told me to f*** off and that they will not return it and even one of the people I I talked with about returning it was right there vouching for me telling the manager he said I could return it and the manager still told me to piss off the guy that told me I could return it his name was Ian he works in the South Lansing store and the carpet department my spend over $10,000 a year at Menards but I will no longer spend another f****** dime there as they are unloyal to their customers and lying ass pieces of s*** . Bought a new freezer from Menards. They loaded it on our truck. When we got it home we noticed the box was dented. Sure enough as soon as we opened the box the door was dented. I contacted them and they were not going to do anything about it because getting another one wasn't going to happen any time soon. I told them it was urgent as my old freezer was broken and thawing and FULL! They had me between the rock and the hard place. One of the men I talked to said he would refund me $60.00. I indicated that was not satisfactory. Then I got an email from Claudia, another manager who said she would refund me $150.00 That never happened. We paid a lot of money for a NEW, Pristine, Freezer and got a dented version. Do yourself a favor, NEVER SHOP AT MENARDS. They are rude and they lie. However, they didn't have the upholstery cleaner I needed and the lady we asked about it wasn't abundantly helpful - she pointed us in the right direction but did not walk us there or help us find the item, so if they had it we weren't able to locate it. read more

What the hell doesn't Menards have? It's like a clean full price flea market, where you can find lots of home stuff and sometimes just random weird stuff that you think you're gonna use, but just end up giving to your grandma. I specifically shop at Menards for home improvement/craft stuff - they have a good variety of spray paint and other finishes and other essentials like nails, tape, glues, etc. If I can't find what I need at Home Depot, I'm heading over the Menards. read more

I do a lot of repair/renovation/improvement stuff even on an extreme level. I am also quite picky with building materials. I like Menards a lot. It is a step better than other big box hardware stores. Often better selection and quality at a reasonable price. They also have more domestic manufactured stock which I generally prefer. However dont expect miracles in that sense since most stuff has been outsourced for years now. Selections of hardwoods and non standard lumber is good too. Some standard lumber like kiln dried 2x4s are not so great though. But that is true most everywhere now. read more

I usually don't leave bad reviews..actually this is my first. I usually only review when I get good service. But the service was poor enough to warrant this. I went in to return an item as it was too small. There was one person at the customer service counter waiting on a customer, and as I waited several minutes...several...plenty of associates went in and out of the area. In particular one was there the entire time off to one side, talking to one associate, then walking out of the area, then coming back, and another associate asked her a question, then they kind of chatted back and forth, her drinking her peace tea or whatever, just kind of chatting. So I figured she wasn't a customer service associate. By this time the line behind me began getting longer. Only after three people got behind me did she come over and open up a workstation and asked if she could help. I thought it was just like Walmart where for some reason they have 35 lanes but only 3 of them open, but no..it was just that there was no sense of customer service, or urgency to take care of customers. It was when she actually decided to provide customer service did I get frustrated. I would been disappointed they didn't have enough customer service reps, but scheduling happens, but when it was that the customer service reps had no sense of prompt customer service did it get frustrating enough for me to write this. Her name was Marissa. So now Menards gets the privedge of getting my first poor review. IF it had been my first visit I would NEVER gone back, but one poor employee does not a store make. And Rachel who checked me out afterwards when I got the part I needed did an okay job. You should put your best people at the customer service desk not the unmotivated. read more
