We came in to get a gift card for an employee that was retiring. The cashier tried to ring it up but was having difficulties. She flipped her light on so it would flash to get the attention of a supervisor up front. There were four other people up front not doing anything but taking. When she waved her arm to get someone's attention she got berated by one of the people up front. A late 20s to early 30s man. He got kinda nasty with her for trying to get his attention. Behind me an employee was waiting to ring up snacks for her break. As he was berating the cashier she popped from around behind me and helped the cashier. He kept on then saying why didn't you just have ( name ) help you. At no time did he even walk over to our lane. I hate saying I think race played into the interaction. The cashier was white , the supervisors were all black. The girl that was on her break getting snacks was white. Just do your job and stop standing around talking. Help each other out. read more

Ok, don't laugh, but we go to Menards for their bacon. Yes, bacon. They have thick cut 24oz Hormel bacon that is the best and at a great price. It's even on sale today for $5.99... that's pre-Covid and pre-inflation pricing! And, did I mention, it's for 24 ounces?? They have several flavors... original, pecan wood, cherry wood, and brown sugar. All are delicious and very thick slabs of bacon. We had out of town guest this week and they raved about the bacon we served. They were shocked to find out it was from Menards and the sale price we paid. We buy the bacon in bulk (one package of each flavor) when it's on sale. Sometimes we even return for a second round. A 5 star rating for Menards on the quality of bacon sold and the sale price. I love Menards I really do. I have been coming to Menards since I was a kid. My father would drag us here and Sears to get his things to work on the house. Lately, they are not the store I remember. I ordered a storm door before the New Year and it still has not arrived.i got an email stating it was ready for pick up. I went to the store no door. Then I received an email that it was delayed and they could cancel the order or they could reorder it and have it rushed. Still no door. So I don't know how it was rushed. You know you're a true Midwestern, when you love the store Menards. Basically all building materials, home decor, interior design, quick fixes, outdoor items, and even food can be found here. I'm almost always guaranteed to go for one thing and end up with a cart full of items. Most of our home fixes have been done with simply items from Menards. We that we've also done all of our landscaping, flowerbeds, gardening, and shrubbery through Menards. The best time to go for us has always been during the 11% rebate, because you get a check back for 11% of what you bought. This is extremely helpful when going in the future to use that as a gift card of sorts and it makes the fun of redecorating or completing projects go a little longer. I am a huge sucker for their soup mixes in the fall and winter time. My favorite is the potato soup and also the tortilla soup packets. Don't underestimate their deals on food also, there are many times that pricing is very low compared to other grocery stores. Menards also has a rental department which we have used a few times, I will say that we've had more luck with calling ahead rather been using online to determine what's in stock for renting. read more

SKU#5759815 does not exist at other MENARDS locations I checked. Other locations will say this sku does not exist. * The sku does not mention it being related to propane, and MENARDS INDY EAST is the only location that has it setup. Two mostly empty tanks refilled came to $53.33 Menards Indy East used to be my go to store for everything. Not anymore. There is not one mention of this on the website or at the filling station. They had filled my two tanks before I had paid. So when I was the person at the register rang up $19.92 + $19.92 + $5 fee + $5 fee + Tax = I was shocked. The manager says sorry there is nothing we can do, even though this is not listed or advertised anywhere. Well guess what. I have a choice of where to spend thousands of dollars on hardware, lumber, power tools, water softeners, etc. *Lawrence Tool Rental = $ 21.49 to refill 20lb propane tank to 4.6 *U-Haul = $15 to $20 if empty, and they charge per pound if your tank is not half full; then it would cost less. *Even every gas station exchange would be better than this. They have lots of drawer pulls, cabinets, lighting fixtures, ceiling fans, etc. on display which is nice to get a visual of. They do offer 11% rebates frequently. The rebate is in the form of a in-store credit. Unfortunately they do not accept mobile payments so bring cash or card for your home improvement purchases. If you create an account, you can keep track of your purchases based on credit card used. I wish they go my loyalty account number instead like Lowe's. You can drive around to the lumbar yard to pick up larger supplies and gardening supplies which is helpful when you are ready to start your spring or summer gardening or landscaping projects. read more

I must say I have been to many establishments and dealt with many of people but never have I ever meet a customer service extraordinaire like Adrian! He is the flooring manager at this Menards and he's the absolute best customer service person I have met EVER! He went over and beyond to explain everything to the fullest. I had no idea what I was doing I just assumed I was going to Menards to price match flooring. He clearly was up for the challenge and immediately began to ask me questions about the project that I had in mind. Once I explained the task at hand he asked me quite simply why are you paying someone to do something that you can easily do yourself. Wait what?!?! I couldn't believe my ears. A person working with the public that wasn't trying to blow me off, listened to me intently and did not tell me to go watch a YouTube video. I was stunned! Heck, I'm still stunned! I said well I'm a girl I can't do this type of work by myself. It's a lot. I just don't think I can do it. He immediately said I think you can. Wow! I stood there in complete and utter shock. He literally explained everything to me step-by-step, but wait it gets better he gave me his card and said if you have any questions or you get stuck don't hesitate to call me. With that being said I am going to save $1350 on a home improvement project by doing it myself. Not to mention I can now tap myself on the back and give myself the kudos for the work being done to my home. The employees here aren't very helpful, when it comes to product knowledge. While waiting in line I also observed several employees just standing around doing nothing. While there were clearly issues (bought three separate bathroom vanities, number one was the wrong one when I got home and had to take it back, number two was broken when I got back, and number three was broken as we inspected it before I left. Even through the challenges, there was one employee, Deven, that was absolutely outstanding and provided great service. Menards is great for a weekend warriors, the store is basically set up for you to walk in on one side to walk out on the other to make sure that you circled that entire store to try and get you to buy more stuff. The layout is designed for a consumer, not a contractor or a person who actually really needs to get work done. Also the quality of most of the stuff here is garbage, you get what you pay for. I've Bought so much stuff from Menards that's broke, a lot of their tools are just a step up from Harbor freight. read more

This location has a remarkably large carpet selection, no matter if you need enough to cover your whole house or just maybe a remnant for a small space. I came into the store armed with my measurements and color criteria and my can-do attitude. I was going to leave with some new carpet, no matter what. We had to replace one room of carpet in order to put our house on the market. I managed to quickly find an employee who was able to help me narrow down which bolts of carpet were best suited to my individual project. Within the hour, I was pulling my truck around to have a new carpet remnant loaded into the back of it. I was given several names and contact information of contractors who could lay the carpet in our house. However, we needed the work done sooner than these companies were available to complete it, so I reached out to our real estate agent who hooked us up with a handyman. This Menards has a lot, and at decent prices. I would give it more stars, but beware of certain employees who will harass you about your service dog if you have one, which is illegal. My dog is trained to comfort me in an anxiety attack, and currently being pregnant, I bring him everywhere. I wasn't asked if my dog was a service pet, he just shouted 'no dogs aloud!' across the isle at my husband and me. When we told him he is actually a service animal, he tried to argue with us! He kept mumbling about how we were wrong as he walked away. I would have gone with 1 star, but every other employee we saw said hi to us and our dog, and some even asked to pet him. This makes me sad, because Menards has always been a good place for my dog and me to shop until today. I will sadly choose Lowes now when I can. read more

I didn't take any photos. I was trying to look for 3 entry doors and 3 new storm doors and get out of there. They have so many to choose from that it is more difficult than you think it would be. I haven't felt well since yesterday so that didn't help either. Everything at Menards is 11% off which is a little misleading unless you've dealt with them before. The 11% is in the form of a rebate which has to be used in their store only. When you're making a big purchase it's still a good deal. They carry a lot of groceries and candy, coffee, all types of cereal, drinks and snacks. They have every cleaning product you can imagine. If you have pets you should check out all the pet toys, treats, food, and all the other pet supplies. It's the only hardware store that I actually like going too! read more

So I decided to do a project I saw on Pinterest for my living room/dining room. Me and about 3 other friends traveled to Menards as our hubbies stayed home to watch a days worth of football. We were pumped to get out of the house and begin our journey. We walked in and were so excited about starting our project. We didn't know where to go and with confused looks on our faces 3 employees walked right past us talking to themselves, my mom yells "excuse me, we need some help" one of the employees turned around and goes "how can I help you?" We explained the project we were doing and showed pictures. He then pointed to the direction of what we needed. Although kind, it would have been nice of him to actually walk us to the area. When we got to the area, we asked the guy at the desk for instructions and he literally looked at us and goes "sorry we don't have what your looking for" very rude and unwilling to help. So we kept asking questions and he was like a brick wall. We then proceeded to ask 3 more employees where another item was and got 3 different sections - NOT one employee offered to actually walk us to the section as this store was a huge maze warehouse. Finally, u ran into a kind young man, I believe his name was Marcelles and he was awesome!!! He took us to the right place. He was knowledgable and very willing to help. Once we found our product he was very willing to let us know to ask about a warranty. He redeemed our entire trip! Every once in a great while- I have to go to this hell- hole because they have something that Lowe's or Home Depot does not.

It's not always the easiest to find things here. It's a massive Menards. But the staff is very polite a doctor helpful every time I've been here. I used to shop Menard's all the time when I lived near the S. Emerson (Indianapolis) location. Now that I live east of downtown, I have attempted to shop at this location a couple different times. Both times with zero success! They do not have lumber, fall plants, grass seed, or other important gardening items. Those are just the items I was needing and couldn't find...I'm sure there are many more downfalls. I know that they are not in the greatest area of town, but this seems like a waste of space and poor company marketing to have a large, well known, hardware store posting their name on a rundown store with half the selection of every other Menard's I've ever shopped. I am incredibly disappointed with the customer service my husband and I experienced at Menard's. We are not from this side of town, but we stopped in as we were over this way for an appointment. All we needed was to find the right size screw for a ceiling fan rough in. We were met with eye rolls and sighs as we approached two staff members for help. My husband asked one a question to which the staff member turned to me and rolled his eyes, as if saying, "why doesn't he know this?" We were shocked by the disrespect and unpleasantness we were met with, even after we explained that this wasn't our usual store and that we just needed a little help finding the right kind of screw. The new store is a great improvement over the previous store, but as some other reviewers noted, there are still some employees that lack customer service skills, often the young women. The merchandise can often sell itself, but these younger employees should be taught the meaning of service to the public - look pleasant and offer assistance. IKEA will be here soon and the competition will be tough. Maybe Menards should try to attract more mature employees that appreciate having a job and know how to treat people. read more

The staff that we encountered were all rude and only one of the six were friendly. They kept saying that didn't have what we wanted even though we showed them what they offered online. I went the next day for a dryer cord and brought what I needed in because I needed that but longer and I drove all the way back home which was 20 min back just to find out they sold me a oven range cord. So I had to send someone else back out there to get the right thing. The man that helped even asked if it was for a dryer and I said yes so I took his word for it since I knew nothing about the cord. So needless to say the past two days at Menards have very unpleasant. Also, the GPS is not accurate. what shows up on the GPS is the old store that is abandoned so they have not updated that, so that was also frustrating as it was an additional 5 min away from where it said it should have been. so in total it took us 80 min in driving in one night just to get the right product. read more

Great store full of the things you may need, but the staff seems as if they do not want to be there. Never a smile or any type of greeting. Checking out with the cashier was not pleasant , she never made eye contact once, or asked if found everything I needed. Only one person was very helpful, young girl went the extra mile to bring down an item for me. She did not smile much but did help. Maybe the owners or management should take some tips from Walmart and teach their workers to cheer up and be thankful for their jobs and earnings. read more

I'm guessing Menards saves 'BIG' money by not having listed telephone numbers for consumer issues. I bought a faucet at this store, installed it, and found it to be missing a piece, rendering it inoperable. The manufacturer is supposed to have sent the piece from Kentucky last Friday. I'm in Indianapolis, Three days later, it still isn't here. I would call Menards, but they don't list phone numbers. While Menards may not have built this faucet, they are the retailer. For that reason I won't be using them any more. read more
