I'm doing a community garden project with my church and needed soil amendments to aerate the raised beds we're building. I'm pretty self sufficient, but I could NOT find the items I was looking for. I found Angel working in a nearby aisle and he was super gracious. Turns out the items had been stocked somewhere completely different, but he was able to track them down, and he even got me a different cart so I could more easily get them to my car. This was my first visit to the Menards in Avon. While Menards is a big box store, I like this Wisconsin based chain because it has a down home feel and I can usually find what I am looking for. I like the selection of spring annuals. I was looking for some phlox and the plants all seemed to be mixed together so it was hard to find. The garden manager was friendly and told me they were sold out. Dang. I did pick up some seeds and deck cleaner. Prices on most items are more reasonable than other big box stores. This store is fairly popular and was crowded with shoppers. The lines were long to check-out, but moved quickly. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Parking is plentiful. I'd recommend going early morning to avoid the crowds. read more

A clean place, a ver nice staff & most importantly amazing customer service. The manager was very nice and funny, which I appreciate considering it's the end of the night. That cart people were working hard & not a single stray cart in the parking lots. Their blinds & curtains sections have great selections. I found the best overall prices for every item on my list today. Including a fresh bag of Herr's Stubb's BBQ Cheese Curls that I was introduced to by an associate a few years back. Yum! Then I remembered that I needed spare keys. I went near the back of the store and was directed to the Key Me Kiosk, (shared a smile and kind word with "Paul" that is ALWAYS in a great mood) it was so simple and fast to make my keys without assistance. I was in the Menards in Avon Indiana last week and before entering, I was told I had to wear a mask.I did not have one so Menards offered to sell me one for a dollar. They were refusing entry to people who did not have a mask and did not want to purchase one. I get in to the store and to my amazement, several employees were not wearing masks. This included the lady selling masks at the front counter. The guy at the paint counter did not have on a mask as well as two other employees. Another employee had his on his chin. How dare Menards require this for "safety" when their own employees are exempt from this rule. I contacted corporate office and was told they would make sure this was addressed. I always wish when I go into hardware stores that they would just give you a personal assisant. because I know nothing about a lot of the things I need. Well on this visit, I got just that. My daughter got turned away from Menards today. She is 21 years old with autism. We went in with face masks as their policy requires, but security judged her appearance and demanded ID, which is incredibly hard to get with her needs, and her inability to sit too long, and because the license branches have been closed. I contacted the manager, who was very short with me, reciting his policies. I hotly told him my daughter has special needs, and he hung up on me. Also, if you forget a mask, they are price-gouging and selling masks at the counter for a dollar a piece. No other business in Avon or our vicinity is acting like this. They should either be fair and let in all ages and abilities/disabilities, or shut down. Not the place to go for me anymore. Feels like communist dictatorship there. Over the years our 1980's house has needed some renovations. Menards is our go to for all of these especially during their 11% rebate time! This Menards is always clean and organized. We frequently need help with ordering things like doors and paint and the staff is always super friendly and helpful. The pickup process for large items like the doors we have ordered has been a breeze! Just make sure you keep all the paperwork from ordering to pickup. We plan to re-build our deck next year and we'll open a credit card with them to save additional money on those materials! read more

I believe after several years of shopping the Avon Menards; I made my final trip this morning. To Meijer's credit after their remodel- they had designated employees there to assist in locating merchandise for their customers. As was a department location map in the front of the store. Menards? NO it's all you my friend. God forbid an employee even for a split second look at a customer; let alone greet or ask if that customer who contributed in paying their wages ask said customer if they can assist!! I witnessed a poor guy dare ask two employees where something was and he got the look of " look stupid old man I'm busy talking" Hopefully he found what he was looking for I'm personally tired of the big stores but what are you left with anymore? I guess to Home Depot where the customer service is lacking as well but I can at least find my way around! read more

This is now the closet Mendards for us since they closed the North High School Road location. Rarely do we not find what we need and if we don't they check if in stock at other Menard stores. They are also great ordering and delivering to the store. We've order lights, cabinets, flooring and windows all with incident. It is a very busy location but the staff is very helpful and friendly. Seasonal items usually have extra staff when necessary. They also have a wide variety of hardware. Automotive fastners, gate hardware, various pins and couplings that other places don't carry. Lumber prices are terrific when on sale. Sprecher Root Beer is one of my husband's favorite root beers and his go to especially during football season. This is the only store we can find it. It's made in Wisconsin and Menards home office is in Wisconsin so must be a relationship here. All in all, we visit often, like the store and wish they'd open a closer store inside 465 to replace old store. read more

Just love coming in the store for no reason in particular to look around. Always find lots of things at Menards lower priced than Lowe's or Home Depot. Had a return and didn't have any difficulties with this at customer service. The other staff throughout the store were helpful but not overbearing. Very poor customer service. There was an item on sale and I wanted to purchase it and pick it up in two days, when my car would be empty. The associate said it was against company policy. I asked to speak with a manager and he eched the same line and did not appear to be interested in finding a solution. I told him he lost a customer, he replied with "it's all right.". Any veteran of home improvement should know what to expect from Menards vs. other home improvement stores - they have a great prices, but lack the knowledgeable employees that the other stores have. If I know exactly what I need for my next home project I head to Menards. If I have any questions about what fittings I need, what type of caulk to use, or the best size lumber for a job I head elsewhere. With that in mind, this Menards is actually pretty good. Finding anything for the first time is always a little difficult (especially when most of the employees don't know where it is either). Also, ordering items online and picking them up at the store is pretty risky. We've had them lose orders and fail to notify us of item arrivals in the past. There are, however, some good employees. One of the managers has helped us a few times and he was very nice and much more knowledgeable than anyone else we've talked to there. But again, that's the exception, not the rule. Looking to save a few bucks? Menards. Need advise on a project? Not Menards. If you know the stores limitations then you'll never be disappointed and can better appreciate what it has to offer. read more

This store is very big and offers many choices. Their prices are better than Home Depot's (we were there before we came here). The difference in pricing was pretty significant on some of the things. The only negative is that their are many items scattered in random departments throughout the store. I saw a baby stroller system in the bathroom (toilets/bathtubs) section and I could not figure out where it came from (to see more) or find the price. That's right! Five stars! Though I've never saved BIG money at Menards, I have saved some money by buying home repair supplies here. They clearance items well here and I'm surprised by how often I find myself buying groceries here. You should have a pretty good idea of what you need before you go because if you just kind of show up expecting the staff to explain how to replace a faucet or install a light, you'll be a sad panda. I like how Menards doesn't seem like a big corporate store and it still has a family owned feel to it. Their lawn and garden leaves a little to be desired. If less than one star was possible, this would be the one. Real rating is ZERO stars. Read on. At about 10:30AM, my husband and I tried to enter Menards. We were told by the person at the entrance that we were REQUIRED to wear masks. My husband has a mask but I tried to explain that I have a breathing condition that makes wearing a mask nearly impossible for me and I had a letter explaining my condition. Instead of allowing me in, I was directed to the customer service desk where I spoke with 3 different customer service representatives. I explained to them that I have a breathing disability and wearing a mask would exacerbate my condition. I tried to hand them the note written by my physician and they refused to take it or look at it. They stated that wearing a mask was "company policy" and that everyone entering was required to wear one without exception. They then said that I could order "online" and pick up in front of the store. I explained that I needed to enter due to a very specific project I was working on. They once again stated that we could order online but I would be denied entrance without a mask. I left feeling embarrassed about my disability. We then called back to the store to talk to the general manager. He stated the same policy. No exceptions to the mask policy. Menards is in CLEAR violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and we won't be returning. read more

Went to purchase a screw/hose clamp for a project. I dislike asking for help. First employee told me to go to hardware and ask the person there. The hardware employee pointed several isles down and told me they were there. They were not so I went back and asked the same person and she pointed me to the screw section and said "everything is labeled." She clearly didn't know what a hose clamp was and probably shouldn't be working a hardware counter. Then asked another two employees that were chatting together and they pointed me to the plumbing section where I ultimately did find the item after some time. This should have been an easy trip. Menards needs to provide better customer service. Knowledgeable employees at the hardware desk would also help. read more

Kitchen counter order was WORST experience ever. After paying for a new quartz countertop in early Sept 2019, here it is a week before Thanksgiving (11 weeks later) and order is still not at the manufacturer yet to be cut. I have doubts I will have it by Christmas. I have made weekly calls to learn status of my order and am told Sandy will re-send it. "Should hear back by Monday" I am told. Meanwhile I await an email confirmation from manufacturer when they receive my order. Then, it will be one more template (the 4th or 5th)to be shipped to me for a final approval, at which time I am to have their recommended contractor come out and give a final approval of measurements, then, maybe, just maybe, the mfr will begin cutting my top and ship it to store. I ll give them 1 star for being nice. I have remained polite and respectful throughout yhe process, but you need to know the customer is not their top priority. read more

I like to DIY quite a bit and Menards is close to my house. I go here for random screws, chunks of wood, knobs, lighting, and tools. We recently had our siding done and so we replaced a gutter with some Menards supplies. It's easy to take back the extras with no question (just keep your receipt). Today I went and ordered $500 worth of deck materials for a deck rebuild in a few weeks. It seriously took me 5 minutes. The guy who helped me was super friendly and explained the delivery process. I don't have a huge truck that can lug 20' boards, so I was willing to pay to have some dude deliver. The store has a user-friendly layout, and I don't get as overwhelmed as I do when I go to Lowes. I didn't have any issues with the employees. The checkout was not the best service it only had 2 cashiers open and they added a third after waiting 10 to 15 minutes in line. The problem I have with Menards is the rebate scam. That is why I shop at Menards maybe once a year to buy it if others don't have what I need. The rest of the time I go to Home Depot or Lowes. I just don't understand when they advertise 11% off everything they don't just deduct it when checking out. Oh no, now it's a rebate and that to me is false advertising. You now have to mail them to get your money back and if it's only a few dollars who want to waste there time. Now you should think about all the money they are making from this process. Something I want to share with you is when I was waiting in line I was talking to another customer. He said he would not use the self check out at Walmart because of taking jobs away and doing work for them. Seems to me your doing the same at Menards only that you have a person checking you so you don't steal. If not for other customer would have never got what we need off the high steel racking and the lumber yard personnel wont even point the way out of the place let alone help you find any good lumber. Had a miserable experience here a couple weeks ago. Went with my wife on a Friday night to buy materials to build a raised flower bed, and left ~3 hours later empty-handed. We started with a gentleman who was very helpful in telling us the boards we needed to buy, and he priced them out for us. Then it went off the rails. Of the four types of boards we needed, he told us one was inside and three were outside. He disappeared and we spent 30 minutes looking around, only to be told later they were all outside. Then we went out back, got directed to the wrong building, then were told that someone would be out shortly to help us, which never came. Most of the lumber was not labelled or sorted completely out of order. The inventory in their computer system wasn't even close to what actually existed. We finally got 3/4 of the types of wood loaded and were directed to the other side of the lot for #4. Once we arrived, all of the needed lumber was damaged and unusable. At that point, the store was closing, so we returned it all and left empty-handed. Save your time and go somewhere else where they value their customers. read more

If you do not know this store like the back of your hand you are better off skipping it. The employees are completely unwilling to help with anything. They are completely untrained, and it is obvious to anyone that enters that they have no intention of learning anything any time soon. It is a horrible experience every single time. It feels like you are being punished when you dare ask for help, and it seems to be completely standard practice for employees to just give up helping you when they can't answer a question or find an item. You should go to Lowe's or Home Depot. Menards could be an ok experience if you sole interest is to wander around. The employees seem very good at letting you wander uninterrupted. read more

I would like to comment about Menards in general, not just the store in Avon, Indiana. This is a huge store and I would love to shop there. However, about ten years ago, I wrote a letter to their corporate office with a need for them to place motorized wheelchair carts in their stores and I was told then it would take up to six months, but they would do it. Well, here it is more than ten years later and they still have yet to have a motorized wheelchair cart for handicapped individuals placed in their stores. Sorry, Menards you have gravely failed in my book. I will and continue to shop at Lowes because they do provide a motorized cart for me to shop! Menards...get with the program!! read more
