There is a small parking lot in front of the store. On Friday, we ordered paint by phone to pick up curbside for a weekend project. The clerk that helped me out, was super friendly. I told him what color I wanted and he help us with which formulation to get. I was able to pay over the phone and the paint was ready to pick up in 15 minutes. Getting product was easy and I didn't even have to go in the store. They even mixed it for me! The paint, as always, is high quality. Colors are exact. They make my DYI projects easy and rewarding. But she was very responsive and knowledgeable when I had questions for her, so that was a plus. We haven't bought paint here yet, but Sherman-Williams paint comes very highly recommended by a painting contractor that we consulted. In fact, the more I read about interior and exterior paint, it seems that Sherman-Williams is the go-to paint for most contractors.

Well, I had to call again on 4/23, then I went to the Michigan Rd location and spoke to someone, and they promised to help. Nothing came from that, so I'm calling Lowe's again today, 4/29/26, and the representative of Lowe's was rude, so I stopped dealing with him. I am a very dissatisfied customer who will never shop at Lowe's again.

I have shopped at all the area Porter paints because Porter is my go to paint. Today (6/6/15) I visited this store and couldn't be more disappointed. The store was understaffed. There were four customers waiting to be helped. I generally know my way around the store and was going to look at some mis-tints when I was rudely told "you can't be back here!" Well the tens of times I've been in that exact area had told me otherwise. Additionally there was no sign that said employees only. I waited a few minutes to be helped and none of the other customers were helped. Needless to say, I will be taking my business across the street to Sherwin Williams or another PPG. Save yourself the time and disappointment, avoid this store.

Taking the spot vacated by CVS and expanding beyond it, it seemed an unusual move considering the relative proximity of Sullivan's, Lowe's, and Hedlund's all over near 62nd and Keystone. That said, the neighborhoods are entirely different and this neighborhood really hasn't had anything resembling a hardware store. There was a place open for a bit near 75th and Binford, however, this neighborhood has really sort of struggled to attract new businesses. Other than a Big Lots across the street and the always popular Taylor's Bakery, this corner has been a bit run down and neglected for as long as I've lived in the area. Recently, this particular corner is showing signs of life with both strip centers being renovated and now the arrival of Ace Hardware. Great Lakes Ace is a Michigan-based company with 62 locations. The location has been cleaned up mightily and the accessibility definitely improved with a better ramp and automatic doors. The store itself is surprisingly accessible for a hardware store (a weakness of Sullivan's). Ace prides itself on offering expert advice on a variety of home repair and maintenance projects with convenient shopping to get in and out quickly and national buying power for access to name brands. Ace specializes in paint, lawn and garden, home décor and hardware. They offer weekly specials and they do participate in the Ace Rewards program. This location also offers Ace Handyman Services. They come to the home and offer 1,162 handyman services and services are backed by a one-year guarantee. You can schedule online and they call back to confirm appointments. It looks like they typically schedule in 1/2 day or full-day options. The craftsmen are actual Ace employees - not contractors. The Ace that I found was well staffed and super friendly and helpful. I was basically "just looking" at this visit, however, I felt free to do so without a lot of pressure. Some of the key services at this location: Propane Refill/Exchange Blades/Knives/Scissors/Saws Sharpening Screen Repair Hunting/Fishing Licenses Auto Key Programming and Cutting Glass Repair and Cutting Assembly and more. This location carries hand and power tools, paint, sundries, clothing, plumbing, hardware, outdoor, cleaning supplies, electrical, lawn and garden, and housewares. Brands they carry include Traeger, Weber, STIHL, Scotts, Toro, Benjamin Moore, YETI, Magnolia Home Paint, Craftsman, Dewalt, and a few others. I suppose 5-star might be a little generous for a hardware store, however, I really liked the improved atmosphere of this store from the dingy, worn out feeling in the old CVS. This location is clean, well organized, surprisingly affordable, and has employees who were friendly and helpful. Plus, accessibility is improved quite a bit from the old tenant. Welcome to the neighborhood, Ace! I look forward to returning again in the near future.

The store offers an array of grills, power tools, paints and general hardware supplies. The shelves are remarkably well organized and neat. Many shelves were empty as I assume they are preparing for spring inventory. Many items were on clearance including Yetis so there are some great deals. In the entry alcove is a fascinating history of the hardware store's evolution. The history dates back to at least 1889 when the store was located at 110 West Main Street in Carmel. The store has been owned by four families start with O. W. Nutt prior to 1889. Steve White bought the store in 1984 and built the current location on Rangeline Road in 1989. I love that someone took the time to capture the history. There's plenty of parking in their private lot. You can only enter or exit going north in Rangeline, but the roundabouts make going in the right direction easy.

He went above & beyond to help me under the circumstances even though he probably wasn't expecting me to buy there. I let him know that i was shopping at Lowe's who referred me to the Sherwin-Williams store for specific color cards. Although Lowe's sells the products, cards for those colors were unavailable as of end July 2023, pending an update to their Sherwin-Williams display. SW - First Rate service!
