This is my favorite MPC location. There are closer ones to my house & I like them ok, but this one best. I love the reminder the gator gives with his sign. The places feels roomy & cozy at the same time. The fun feel of the quirky things hanging about, the local beers they offer & the games on the several tvs makes for an always fun atmosphere. I have dinned in many times & often with large groups filled with kids. They handle the chaos of them with kindness & grace. In the past, I've thought the service was ok. Lately, it has been top notch. The staff seems happy to be there & thus treats customers with a smile & great attitude. The food is consistent which is big to me. I have started getting take out recently when I realized I could feed my family of 6 kids for little more than I was spending at the closest chain. The quality of the food is way better & taste much better too! I split large salads with my kids & it's more than enough. Last order, it was late but I didn't want to eat fast food junk & it wasn't right before closing, so I thought I'd call & see if it was too late to order. I got myself a half salad & when I asked to add pizza cheese & grilled chicken as I wanted some extra protein, it was met with of course & it was delicious & more than enough. I try to support local, family owned places as much as possible & they have met it easy to do. Great food, great service, great prices & great people. I can't recommend them highly enough. Memphis Pizza Cafe has become one of my favorite go-to pizzas, in a sea of endless pizza places out there. This one is cleaner inside than my usual spot in Germantown, it was remodeled recently unlike the G Unit. People are always friendly and generally quite eccentric. Remember to be friendly and patient with your servers no matter what. No one really cares, so just be cool to everyone man. Step off box. I wasn't always a fan of the pizzas here, it's grown on me for sure. I really dig it now. It's wildly different than any other pizza around here. I'm pretty sure I've never had any crust like it in any of my worldly travels either. It's got an almost "layered cracker like" thin, but not thin, crust. It defies science and all logic really... It's crunchy, but soft, flimsy yet it has zero flop, holds as many toppings you throw on it and is just as crunchy the last bite as the first. It gets better as it sits but sucks once it's been refrigerated (IMO), don't hate. How's that possible?!?!? I've probably had every single pizza they sell at some point or another. I don't think there is one that I don't like. Peep the pics.... You can see em all! Meh. Nothing horribly wrong, but also nothing that stands out to me. The decor is simple, and the service is just ok. The menu is tiny. They have pizza, calzones, and a couple of salads. The Greek Salad we ordered for almost $10 was small for the price, and consisted mostly of iceberg lettuce and feta. And a lot of finely cut pepperoni. We ordered an ultimatum cheese pizza, and added artichokes, mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes. We loved the thin crust, but that was absolutely the only stand out. So yeah, just meh. read more

I really enjoy calling in a pizza and salad order and picking up to take home. However, one thing that makes me never want to return is that this location allows people to smoke cigarettes just outside of the main entrance. I shouldn't have to pass through a cloud of carcinogenic smoke due to somebody's addiction to nicotine. The guy who took my order was pleasant and I sat at the bar to wait for my food. Overall, the place seems clean and they have a health score of 97 posted. My concern is the lack of gloves - which I know isn't a legal requirement but only one man used gloves, the guy who fixed my salad, and I sure appreciated the gesture. The ones fixing the pizza aren't wearing gloves and I wish they would since we can see into the kitchen area - I think it's more professional and it just shows cleanliness, in my opinion. The salad was great but the calzone was mid. The dough is flavorless - toppings/filling wasn't fresh or anything special. I definitely like the mid-town location better. read more

AC does not work, waited 45 minutes for 1 pizza on a Tuesday night. If you can't handle the service then at a certain point tell people there will be a wait time when at the door instead of not being able to service who is sitting. read more

This is without a doubt in my top 5 favorite pizza places ever! The crust is thin and crispy! So delicious. I was just passing through and we stopped. I have tried many pizza spots in Memphis. Every time I'm somewhere other than Memphis Pizza Cafe, I think to myself that I wish I had gone to eat at Memphis Pizza Cafe instead. I don't know if I've ever had a bad pizza experience at this place! I'm normally one to do take out here, especially in the past year. On a busy night, you could be looking at a 30-45 minute wait on your pizza. But on a regular night, it normally takes about 20-30 minutes to prepare an order. That's perfect for me, especially when the pizza is that good and still nice and warm after I make the 10 minute drive home. They only do pick up, no delivery. Just call in an order over the phone - super easy. The best part about Memphis Pizza Cafe is the ability to do half and half pizzas. My mom loves their Veggie pizza while I love the BBQ chicken. We order a half and half every time and get what we want. BBQ chicken is definitely the way to go if you're a BBQ lover - shredded chicken, cheese, and BBQ sauce. So yummy!! We never have an issue of the toppings spilling onto the wrong half. Also, there are so many toppings!! I love it! You never feel like you are not getting enough. This has been our go to pizza place for years, this location of MPC in particular. The Gtown location doesn't cook the pizza well enough, the midtown location doesn't put as much toppings on the pizza, so we always came to the Eastgate location. Perhaps not anymore however. We ordered 2 10" pizzas & 2 half salads. Drinks came out quickly. As we were waiting on salads, Mr & Mrs East Memphis & daughter came in, ignored sign to have host seat them & sat at table next to door. They arrived 5 minutes after us. Then, 5 minutes after ordering they got their salad. We looked at each other, what about ours. We could see our waitress but could never get her attention. 20 minutes after ordering she came over & asked how we were - I said we'd be better if we got our 2 salads. Her comment - "the salad guy is running behind". We told her to just cancel the salads. I then noted to her the guy who sat himself down had his salads 10 minutes before us, despite him coming in after us, so I guess 'the salad guy' wasn't running late for his?1 minute later she came out with the pizzas, and guess what, 'the salad guy' was right behind her with the 2 salads. I reminded her I said cancel the salads. She said she'd take them off the bill, but she'd have to thrown them away... my wife asked if she could box them to go, she did. Got home, went to repack the salad for lunch the next day & it was slimy, yep, that's the best way to describe it, so in the garbage it went. Pretty sure it got that way sitting out in the kitchen of restaurant for 20 minutes as the left hand & right hand were on 2 different pages. Not the best night for our server Avery. read more

I was so excited to come back and get a pizza Fri 23 about 4 pm when I called and ordered it to pick up. I had been there the weekend before on Sat when you opened at 11am. I ordered the barbecue pizza. It was the best I've ever had. So Fri I couldn't wait to pick it up and eat it over the weekend. I was so disappointed in the medium barbecue pizza. It obviously had been cooked a long time before I picked it up. The crust was so hard, dry, and the toppings were dry and had a blackened look in many spots on the top. Very very dry. I was so surprised. I'm a senior and don't go out often because of my budget. Now my first reaction was don't ever go there again, get me one at Krogers. But then the first time I had my pizza was awesome, so I'll from now on go there when you open at 11Am , then I'll no it'll be freshly cooked. I want be purchasing a med to take home. Covid Review: Memphis Pizza was the first restaurant we visited after the quarantine was lifted for in-dining in restaurants. We were prepared to look around and leave if we didn't feel comfortable in this Covid environment, but we were pleasantly surprised and the care they took to make sure there was space and everything was clean. The tables were cleaned of everything, including napkins, menus and salt and pepper. The wait staff was wearing masks, as were the kitchen staff, complete with gloves. That made us feel immediately comfortable. Now, Memphis Pizza has been my favorite pizza in Memphis, hands down. The pizza did not fail this night, either.
