No, no, no...This pizza was wrong from the jump. The first indication was that I could feel and hear the entire pizza sliding around in the box as I was walking it into the kitchen... not a good sign. When I opened the box, the disappointment was instantaneous. Despite my picking as it was coming right out of the oven, and driving the 10 mins home, the pizza was cold and slices had separated from each other, looking as if it had been sitting around all day long. The crust was clearly not made from fresh and looked as if it were either machine pressed into shape, or thawed from frozen... either way, it clearly looked as if it was never let to rise. An inspection of the undercarriage of the pizza revealed a very dry and cracked crust... not a good thing in a quality slice. The taste...well, the pizza tasted like it was sauce and cheese on unleavened / matzah bread... just no... I hadn't eaten since breakfast and was hungry, but could only manage three slices and they were sitting like a rock in my stomach... In sum, I just cannot recommend Memphis Pizza Cafe. There are other options and I suggest you make use of them. read more

In general, the food at MPC is consistently good. Ingredients are fresh, price point is good and they're local-focused, always a plus. Ambiance is casual, making it a good spot for the entire family, no pretense required. The service at this particular location is fantastic! Despite being busy, these girls' girls are super helpful (and even complimentary--just the hype I needed today!). I've seen the error of my ways and I must correct my review accordingly. Back in the day I used to order slices and not whole pizzas. That is a bad move here. This pizza is way better if you snag a whole fresh circle of dough with stuff on top of it. Don't get me wrong, leftovers from here are good, but them reheating slices for you at the restaurant is a no no at this place. The dough is just too crunchy initially and gets soggy/crunchy kinda. I am not sure if any of that makes sense. Hell, I'm not Italian, how am I supposed to know. Capiche? I love the Hey! Meat pizza here man. It's got the perfect blend of ultra preserved meats and gooey cheese. The crusts are pretty crunchy like I said, so it holds up with zero flop of the crust. YES! The servers range from great to good, and the place is pretty much still a shithole. There is that. Don't be surprised if there is a wee bit of dirt where you sit or the ceiling tiles fall in on you. Memphis Pizza Cafe is a go to for my family when we want a good thin crust style pizza with laid back atmosphere. We went on a rainy Sunday and there were plenty of open tables. The waitress got our order perfect so we had no problems with our food. I love that they cut up the slices for the kids if you ask. The reason I took away a star is because the bathrooms are in complete disrepair. I understand that part of their vibe is that nothing is super modern, but you still have to have some aspect of sanitation regardless. The bathroom stall door lock was completely off of the door laying on the floor, so you had to hold the stall door shut if you want to use the restroom, which can be quite a juggle. I was reminded of why I stopped patronizing this location. My wife called in a to-go order. I arrived and they only had part of the order completed. I paid for what they had ready and left. The working atmosphere seemed quite disorganized. I also observed that their hand hygiene practices seemed dubious. I will probably never return to this particular location. read more

I have never had a bad experience at this Memphis Pizza Café, and that is probably over 100 visits over the years. We were back in town visiting friends and decided to go again. My wife and I have a go-to pizza order with Cajun chicken, onion and black olives. I also start with a half Greek salad. As usual, the salad was fresh and crisp with a generous amount of peperoni and feta. The dressing is on the side so you can use as much as you want. And the pizza was hot and perfectly cooked. The pizza here is cracker thin and crispy. The sauce is not heavy on it, nor is it over cheesed. That means the toppings flavors come out like they should, and they go as close to the edge as they can without falling off. This is my favorite pizza. Service is always fast, even when the restaurant is jammed. I highly recommend Memphis Pizza Café, particularly this location or the one in Memphis on Park Ave. read more

Never coming back here again! First I ordered gluten free pizza and the waiter came back and said they were out. I was very disappointed because that was the only reason I came here. She then asked if I still wanted anything. I then had to rush to look through the menu. I asked if I could have a plain grilled cheese and confirmed that the sandwich would only have cheese. When I received my order I had a sandwich with cheese, lettuce, tomato, mustard, and Mayo. The waitress looked confused when I said that I wanted a grilled cheese and kept justifying how what I received is a grilled cheese. They remade it for me but I am very disappointed. The service in this restaurant is horrible which is a shame as this used to be one of our favorite pizza places. The server dropped of our pizza and NEVER returned to check on us or refill our drinks. I had to walk to the counter to ask for refills and the server told us they had already thrown out all the tea. She offered water instead. The check included the cost for the tea which I considered insulting since we couldn't get refills and were not offered something else instead of water. I had to contact the manager who did remove the drinks from our check. The server copped an attitude and told us if we ever returned, she recommended we ask for another server instead of her. This is the first time I've ever been fired as a customer. That's fine. There are plenty of other pizza places in town. Should have gone to Garibaldi's which is just a block away. The beer was cold . . . The price was reasonable, but so is Jet's Pizza. My husband and I attended law school and physical therapy school in Memphis. Memphis Pizza was the place to go. The fond memories have been replaced with bitter disappointment. I guess we have been spoiled, you get what you pay for, and we were broke back then so I guess any night out at a restaurant was filled with good memories. The crust was decent, but the pizza really had no flavor and we got the supreme. How could a pizza with so many toppings be flavorless? Inquiring minds want to know. To top it off, our waitress went MIA. I had to ask for the ticket and left the money on the table. Improvements have been made to the Interior ~ it was spacious & spotless. The new mural painted across the furdown was cool! Zach was my Server. I ordered a 15" Cafe' Supreme ~ Canadian Bacon, Pepperoni, Onion, Green Peppers, Beef, Sausage, Mushrooms, Mozzarella. Ultra-Thin Crust ~ Ingredients were distributed evenly, & the Pizza tasted really good. Yes that's a "Traditional" Pizza by today's standards. Vegetable Supreme, Hawaiian, Alternative, BLT, Buffalo Chicken, BBQ Chicken, seem to be on a lot of menus now. Back in the G'town area this afternoon and ran in for some grub. The great thing about Memphis Pizza Cafe is the option of getting slices rather than an entire pizza. That, and the fact that the slices are HUGE! Food was excellent, again, service was spot on, the only weird thing this time? The music playing. This is a good local pizza joint. It's been voted the best in the area for 10+ years. I think it is probably well known since they have several locations vs it being the best pizza you will ever have. But, it's not bad considering we are not in Chicago or NY. The crust is crispy and thin and they have a few different types to choose from. You can order by the slice which is nice when you are with a group. Everyone gets what they want. This is the best pizza I've ever had in my entire life, and I am a pizza fanatic. The crust is crisp and tasty with the perfect texture. The sauce has a wonderful flavor and is always on there in the right proportion. The cheese melts here in a way that it doesn't on other pizzas and I don't know what they're using but its awesome. And the pepperoni is always just a little bit spicy to give it that perfect punch of flavor. When I go with other people, they usually order the cajun chicken and they say its excellent. I don't eat chicken but I've seen multiple people eat this and talk about how wonderful it was. The calzones are also very yummy. Gooey, cheesy, and in that perfect crust with sauce on the side.
