[1028] 10/2019 We used Memphis Best Tours for our tour to Graceland. We were picked up at the Peabody Hotel at 9. There was a stop at the visitor's center and then Graceland. We arrived at Graceland at 1030am. Graceland had so much to do and look at that I wished we would have been at Graceland for that 1.5hr. The ride was safe and clean. Definitely good to use a tour bus but I just wished it went straight to the location. read more

We are in Memphis for my mom's 70th birthday with 5 women aged 34-70. Went today and Sam is the best tour guide ever. I'm pretty sure you can't teach/train this level of enthusiasm. He's a NATURAL! So informative, passionate about his city and it shows. We all really enjoyed our day with him. The Peabody duck march was fun and we enjoyed the historical significance. We also did the Riverboat tour. Jordan was both informative and entertaining but the riverboat tour itself was somewhat lacking in overly interesting landmarks. read more

We enjoyed our tour of Memphis with Memphis Beat Tours. Sam was a wonderful tour guide. He was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and entertaining. As a Memphis native it is clear he loves his city! Unfortunately, the riverboat portion of the tour was not worth the expense or time (no fault of Sam's as he did not provide this portion of the tour). Overall, this is a great way to see Memphis and learn about its rich history and culture. read more

This tour did a great job showing the best of Memphis. Sam was our guide and was friendly, funny and very knowledgeable. Also if we had a question he was able to answer with no trouble!!! He also gave great recommendations even if they weren't on the tour. I also felt like he acknowledged every person on the tour. His love for St. Jude was awesome. It wasn't pushy like a sales for giving money. He also acknowledged the benefactors like Ronald McDonald House, Target, Dominoes and Chilis. read more

Memphis Best is the absolute WORST. Do not book with this company. I have one day in Memphis, booked this tour. Went to the welcome center 45 mins early. At 9:30 when the tour was to start, the welcome center called them for me. They have cancelled tours today and tomorrow. No phone call... nothing. Horrible service. Memphis Best Tours was recommended to us by the Concierge at the Peabody Hotel. Since this was our first visit to Memphis, we thought it a good idea to take a 3-hr tour of the city to find out the history, and get an idea of the layout. Boyce was our tour guide, and he was very friendly and punctual. The bus was clean, and the microphone worked, so we could hear him just fine. He made a lot of jokes, and gave us commentary on what we were seeing as we passed it. I'm pretty sure, though, that when you're a tour guide for your city, that does not include just making "facts" up. It became a running joke as we visited various studios and museums the rest of our trip and realized all the misinformation we had been given. In addition, things he should have told us about, he never mentioned. And I don't know who designed the tour bus route, but we crossed in front of Sun Studios at least 5 times, but we never passed the front of the impressive courthouse? Here are just a few examples of what we learned/did not learn (and seriously, I could provide quite a few more): We visited the Victorian Houses in Millionaires Row- Boyce's version of the house with two dollhouses behind it (paraphrased) "This guy made his fortune making dollhouses." Nope - not true. Can't remember what building this statement was made for: (paraphrased) "Temperature in the building is always the same due to the way it was designed" Nope - not true. There were beautiful trees in bloom while we were there (April): lush white ones, bright pink ones, and vibrant purple ones. When asked, Bryce told me there were all apple trees, just in different colors. Sigh.. nope - not true. We passed Hotel Chisca a few times, and while we heard it was finally to be refurbished, no mention was made about the Radio Station that used to be inside, and that that's where DJ Dewey Phillip played Elvis on the radio for the first time. It seems to me that Memphis Best Tours needs to have a refresher course for their tour guides - you know, so when people pay $24/each, they can actually learn about the city they are visiting. read more

Great service and Sam was definitely the best tour operator. Not only did he give us great information about the sights and sounds of Memphis, he was able to answer all of our questions, too. We included the add-on of the Sun Studio tour and Sam made sure that he got us there exactly on time and was there for pick-up promptly afterwards. He even dropped us off at the famous Gus's Fried Chicken restaurant following the tour. Sam was personable and professional and I highly recommend you asking for him. read more

We were very satisfied with our tour.Sam is a very warm personality and gifted guide..One feels like they know the city and it's desire to keep improving while holding close the history of cotton, transportation of goods and tourism alive..Sam showed us the revitalization of the downtown and keeping the historical architecture accurate while reusing the interior spaces for condos and offices..we drove by the St.Judes Children's Hospital while Sam explained how there were three different hostels dedicated to the parents and patients of St.Judes with no bills being sent to the families..thanks to the generosity of Danny Thomas , his daughter..Marlo...a lot of their friends ..local businesses and countless donations from around the USA and world..So many interesting stories and buildings..The sadness that comes forth is in regards to the death of Martin Luther King ..due to assassination..Mr.King was in town for a dedication when shot in the neck while exiting his room 306 at the Lorraine Hotel..There are two relic era vehicles parked to represent those driven by Kings retinue..We would definitely recommend this tour and ask for Sam..Fabulous. read more

Ive done tours of citys before and was worried that since my past experiences have been less than great this one would be too, but I was very wrong. First I have to mention Sam he was awesome he always kept us ingaged and interested my sister who's 11 said it was very fun and she wanted to do it again. My mom who's 60 also said she really enjoyed her time. I learned a lot with out it being boring. The stops were fun and we had lots of time to do what we wanted but not feel stranded. The busses were nice and had good air conditioning which was really nice with the heat. Over all I HIGHLY recommend this. Thank you Sam for the great tour of the city and giving us a great won't ever forget this. read more

Very disorganized...tour person sent a text message at 7am asking us to confirm our tour. I called back at 8, left a voice message, and a text message...they changed our meeting points, and texted me again. We had to walk over a 1.5 miles to get to revised meeting place. So fustrated!!! read more

I have a feeling this tour company can be a little hit or miss. But, it was a hit for our group! We called the company the day before and were told to meet at the Visitors Center (because we were staying outside of the city). We just had to provide a last name and number of guests. At the appointment time, we were at the center (Tip: Free parking available until 11pm!) and ready to go. About 20 minutes later the bus showed up. Then we switched to a few bus. A little disorganized and, admittedly, I was worried. I shouldn't have been because, once we got moving, it was fun! Even with a late start we made it to the Peabody to see the "march" (really fast run?) of the ducks. The bus pulled up right outside, we split up to watch, had time for a few pictures and then right back to the bus. It was really convenient. The highlight of the tour for me was visiting St. Jude's. We were able to go inside a museum and learn more about the history, in addition to the work being done now. Powerful stuff. The other stop was on Beale Street with about 45 minutes to walk around and grab a bite to eat. That was extended to another 30 minutes or so because of a long wait at a restaurant but it was a beautiful day and a great place to wander. We didn't take the Graceland tour but everyone was driven there to drop others off so we saw the home from the street and also glimpsed the airplanes. Really, no complaints about the tour. It was a great deal at only $25! read more

This was without a doubt the WORST tour we have ever taken. At least our tour guide was the worst. I didn't get her name, but she was not very friendly or warm. She did not tell us anything useful aside from repeating either "Mr. Elvis Presley" "His father, Mr. Vernon Presley" or "His mother, Gladys Presley" in every sentence. She would start talking about something, then verge in another direction, thinking it would somehow tie in with the original thought, but never come back to make an intelligible statement. We could not follow what she was talking about and were bored out of our minds...not to mention our poor 8 and 10 year old kids that have been scarred for life and refuse to ever take another bus tour again (thanks a lot Memphis Best!) We finally got off early at the Civil Right Museum and walked back to our hotel. If only that stop had come sooner. Would love to have the time we wasted on that bus back. read more
