This sign is a lie because the restaurant is closed until spring. Now you have to pay $5 to leave.

What another embarrassment for Memphis. The city approved this project without architectural plans, a budget, or any bids. It went over budget from $29 million to $43. Just like the $100 million or so federal and city tax payers paid for a trolley system that they knew damn well would cost more to operate than busses, that's been shut down a couple years because of fires and wrecks. Just like the Peabody Place mall and the Pyramid. Memphis is good at expensive building projects that lose money and close down. I'll start with the big sign out front saying you can park free with the purchase of a meal. This is a lie because the restaurant is closed until spring. Of course they didn't bother to take down the sign about free parking, so you are forced to pay $5 to open the parking gate after you've discovered you can't get a meal. The Riverfront Restaurant has lost money ever since it opened and they think it's a good idea to close for the entire winter? What does that do to the employees who are expected to work there? What about the moral of the city? Letting the building sit empty for months while it's losing money is a good way to do business and serve the city? When this was built, they had several problems getting restaurant owners to want to open business here because it's another money pit. It's another Memphis city failure! They didn't even bring a gas line into the kitchen for crying out loud! Now the Development Committee is in charge of it and they are losing even more money than before! It's one of the most expensive gift shops in the world! About that gift shop, all I saw was crap. There are key chains and shot glasses. Baseball caps and shirts. There's an elevator to the top, but the doors are locked. The sidewalk along the river was constructed so poorly that they didn't even take into account the mud and water it would hold unless it was built to drain away. There is an unkept garden and one of the stupidest playgrounds I've ever seen. What's up with the stripper poles? When you park your car, there is an electrical transformer and a garbage dumpster right in the way to get to the building! Couldn't they come up with a better design to avoid such an eyesore? The spiral dock is closed off and I haven't seen it in action. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. I do know they aren't using it for the river boats. They aren't using it for anything because there's no dock at all there. Closed down already? The grass roof is cool, but not for $43 million dollars! There are some spectacular views, but they have nothing to do with the Beale Street Landing.

I think Beale Street Landing was beautifully done. The grassy 'roof' is a nice touch and offers great panoramic views of the river and city. Haven't had a chance to try the restaurant yet. Got to descend the spiral boat ramp during the Yelp Tours Niña & Pinta Replicas event. That thing is massive! Nice play areas for the kids. Hopefully the cobblestone (parking) area adjacent to the landing will soon be updated; its such an eyesore. This place has the potential for 'more' but I like what they've done so far.

First time to Beale Street Landing. Nice place. The event I went to was the Nina & Pinta ships that came into town. I went with other Yelpers which was my first time with them, which was nice. The tour guide was great to listen to and had some great information. The landing itself was nice. Great place to sit and just soak it in. Inside had the basic tourist time of stuff. Got to hit this at least once in your lifetime. http://www.thenina.com/

This is my go to spot for a good workout/run/stretch. The entire area is amazing and they recently have added more workout area including more stairs and walk area. The kids can enjoy the water activities and much more. Amazing area to woosa after a fast paced day on the job.

3 stars for a beautiful boat ride that needs a lot of improvement…read more My family was in Memphis for Labor Day weekend, saw this $20 deal on Groupon and thought that was a good price for a 90 minute boat ride! We bought the tickets and were told to print the tickets...but the tickets you'd print aren't really your tickets you have to show that printed ticket in the gift shop to get your actual ticket. I bet you're as baffled as we were. There's got to be a better way. This ended up being the theme for the cruise. We see a huge lump of people and know we should get somewhere in the group. There was no front of the line, middle of the line, or back of the line. There's got to be a better way! A woman announces that she'll be taking the tickets and moved to the front. The 15 feet gates open and there's no organizations as to who is in line where- everyone just pushes forward and she takes your ticket. There were probably 200(?) people no vying to be next in line. There's got to be a better way!! Then we proceed down the circular walkway where my 6yo cousin misses getting hit by their golf cart by 2 inches. It's a 15 ft wide ramp and there is no bell, no noise, absolutely nothing to notify him the golf cart was coming, FULL SPEED down the ramp behind him. There's GOT to be a better way. We continue to wait in a more organized line once we get to the boat. It's 3 stories: an enclosed first floor with tables and chairs, an open, but covered second floor, and an open, uncovered top floor. We opt for the front of the boat in chairs. Slightly covered, great view, breezy, perfection!! Then a small lady in front of me falls to the ground because her chair gave out. 30 minutes it happens again to another young, fit guy. These are the cheapest chairs you buy at the dollar store. You know what's coming next...there's got to be a better way!!! 90 % of the ride is narrated by a nice gentleman who knows a lot about the river, Memphis, history, etc. His commentary is interesting but he told two lengthy stories about boats sinking and lots of people dying. Am I the first and only person who has issue with such a thing?! PLEASE, find a better way! The ride is beautiful and breezy and we enjoy ourselves knowing we only paid $20. Until these issues are corrected, I cannot give a better star review.

I opted for the 'Midnight Booze Cruise'...a two-hour ride along the Mississippi. Boy were we in for a surprise! We were thinking this would be a nice, relaxing, and classy boat ride. We were greeted with straight Ratchedness! Young folks cursing at each other, shorter than short outfits, tighter than tight outfits, lashes looking like paint brushes, the smell of weed... just straight ratchet! Now, if that's your thing, then that's your thing. But obviously it's not ours. I just wish I would have known. We entered the boat and it was wall-to-wall and back-to-back! We entered through the door and walked right back out! $85 wasted. If this is your your of crowd, I'm sure you would have a great time! Otherwise, you should pass on it. Just my lil two cents!

The building sits right by the Mississippi River, like it knows it's got the best view in town. We stepped out of the car and were immediately greeted by none other than Elvis Presley himself--or at least a very confident bronze version of him. Nearby? B.B. King, mid-strum. I hadn't even picked up a brochure yet and was already planning a full-on Memphis playlist. Inside, the place was spotless. Cool air, clean restrooms, and a staff so friendly they made us feel like we were long-lost cousins just coming back to visit. One of the ladies behind the desk insisted on handing us "everything we might need"--maps, coupons, and a cheerful rundown of what not to miss in the city. She even offered to take our picture with Elvis. I didn't say no. Out back, the view of the river was unreal. Bridges stretched across the water, sun glinting off every ripple. People were sitting on benches, sipping drinks from vending machines and watching the barges roll by like slow-moving giants. We were only supposed to stop for five minutes. We stayed for almost forty. Five stars, no question. The Tennessee Welcome Center doesn't just welcome you--it invites you to fall in love with Memphis before you even get to the first stoplight.

Atmosphere - Good size welcome center. Very spacious, see pictures. Sounded by good walking parks and the largest Bass Pro Shop, see other reviews. And they suggested we go to Mud Island Park, another nice treat. Well the Mud Island Park needs a lot of love... But it was still a nice retreat. Plenty of parking. Clean bathrooms, but look at some of the signs that I took pictures of, lol. Service - 5 stars, See above. Price - Free. Owner Comment - Thank you to the state of TN for such a great welcome center.

The 'Queen' was our guide and she totally made this Memphis trip a memorable one. Even though I've been to Memphis a few times, I've never had someone provide depth to the city's history and culture that is out in the open but not really seen. Queen doesn't just spit knowledge-- she keeps everyone engaged throughout the tour. She also is a master at linking the past with the present, with an added emphasis on prompting action to shape future history. You have my word--take this tour at first opportunity and you won't be disappointed. It'll also be valuable for learning good food and tourist spots for after the tour. Hint: smoked turkey ribs...
