We absolutely LOVED Harper! Great food & great storytelling! Harper is a true ambassador of Memphis! We were impressed with his knowledge and pride in his city! He was known everywhere we went and had great relationships with all the restaurants we went to. This is a great tour for your first day in Memphis during your trip!

This is a great activity to do in Memphis! It is a family business ran by Lance and his wife Carol. We did the bbq food tour and it was fantastic! Lance was our tour guide, he was very friendly and knowledgable about bbq and memphis history. Fun fact: Lance is a judge for bbq competitions so he really knows good bbq! Read on for spoilers: Blues Cafe: Here we enjoyed ribs. They were absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back to this restaurant for some ribs! Central BBQ: We had ribs and bbq nachos. The nachos are a must! The Bar-B-Q Shop: Known for thier bbq sphagetti. Definitely worth trying once in your life! Surprisingly really good! The Pig on Beale: here we tried a pulled pork sandwich, it was delicious. Cozy Corner BBQ: the ribs were tasty A&R: lance brought A&R to us to save time, we had a shredded roast beef sandwich. It tasted sooo good and the bbq sauce makes it even better!

To die for and kill ya BBQ nachos at Alfred'a. My tummy hated me and this point but I didn't care.

Got a text from Carroll, the owner of the company the morning of to confirm information and she was extremely helpful and responsive to my questions. We met up with the amazing Taylor in the lobby and things could not have gone more awesome. She was so incredibly sweet, funny and knowledgeable about the city and the food. Memphis could not ask for a better ambassador. Then the food- the food people was yummy, it was just me and my hubby and Taylor and it felt like we went to a great lunch with a friend who knew the best spots. It's hours later and I'm still full!! Definitely would recommend! We're coming back to Memphis to eat some more!

Awesome tour. Taylor was an amazing tour guide. Really opened our eyes about the beautiful city that Memphis is.

A great way to explore and learn all at the same time. Also it's great for families with people who can't walk a tour. This allows you to tour no matter your ability. The tour guide said she has done this in other states too I would travel to experience this in every state. What an excellent concept. I hope it goes further! I posted a few pictures you have to go in the tour to hear their stories.

The 'Queen' was our guide and she totally made this Memphis trip a memorable one. Even though I've been to Memphis a few times, I've never had someone provide depth to the city's history and culture that is out in the open but not really seen. Queen doesn't just spit knowledge-- she keeps everyone engaged throughout the tour. She also is a master at linking the past with the present, with an added emphasis on prompting action to shape future history. You have my word--take this tour at first opportunity and you won't be disappointed. It'll also be valuable for learning good food and tourist spots for after the tour. Hint: smoked turkey ribs...

Woodruff-Fontaine House 680 Adams Ave, Memphis, TN 38105…read more This area became known as the Victorian Village, and the main street through the neighborhood was nicknamed "Millionaires Row." Amos Woodruff and his brother came to Memphis from Rahway, New Jersey in 1845 to expand their carriage-making business. In 1870, Amos Woodruff purchased a plot of land for $12,000 and began construction on the mansion which would end up costing the Woodruffs $40,000 to build. Unfortunately, about 12 years later, the yellow fever epidemic forced the Woodruff family to sell the house.l Noland Fontaine purchased the house from the Woodruffs in 1883 for $40,000 and his family lived there until 1929. In 1930, the house was sold to Rosa Lee, who used the house to expand her art school, Lee Memorial Art Academy. The school moved to Overton Park in 1959, and established themselves as Memphis Art Academy, later becoming the Memphis College of Art. The Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities saved the house from demolition after 2 years of vacancy, restored the mansion, and then opened its doors as a historic house museum

Two hours later, he picked us up and took us out and showed us all around Memphis, what it's famous for, all the important historical spots, let us hop out of the car for some photo shoots, then took us all around to spots where famous singers sang at before they became famous. He showed us where Elvis had his first rock and roll concert, where he got his karate lessons, and the salon where Priscilla Presley got her hair done at. He showed us many different districts, local old houses build in the 1800s, and got to show us "shotgun houses" -those long narrow working houses. He drove us past the Lorraine Hotel where Martin Luther King was assassinated at. George is a true Memphis guy. We got to learn so much about Memphis! We probably got way more information out of this trip than we would have if the music history tour bus had picked us up. The best part-- he offered to take us to the airport at 5:20 am! So we got to relax the night before knowing that guaranteed, we had a ride to the airport in the early cold morning. Thanks George! I wish I could put in 20 stars!!!
