When you pull up to the restaurant it's not much to look at & the parking lot is kind of small but, it's full. That in itself, is always a good sign. The restaurant is very cute. I like the decor, very traditional for a mom-and-pop place. The waitress was very kind and efficient. The food was delicious and mind you, you do get plenty of it! my only complaint was if they're going to work so hard at making something that's good, don't skimp on the buns buy some decent buns! Overall... You could not go wrong eating here. The price is very reasonable and the food is delicious. Grub a dub dub

Soooo... this is just a really solid local diner. I had to be in Bowling Green for a 1:30 Court appearance and needed some lunch. Great local crowd and quick friendly service and a solid bacon cheeseburger. Good crinkle cut fries. Sweet tea and regular tea. Reasonable price. Fast service. Family friendly. Clean restroom. Just good food.

Service was excellent. Friendly welcoming even though it was 20 minutes before closing time. Country small town America atmosphere top notch. Food ? Well, bLT was just ok, grilled cheese was pretty good, grilled ham, cheese was not very good with ? cheese and the tenderloin was huge, heavily breaded and not a favorite of anyone at our table but the waitress and a customer who ordered it ahead of us. The pie looked unbelievable though.

Glad we happened upon this place on our way south to St. Louis! We stopped during the Monday lunch rush, and the place was hopping with locals. Service was great! I really enjoyed my BLT on sourdough with chips. The bacon was delicious, and the mayo was nice and tangy. My husband had the tenderloin with chips. It was huge! It was a little dry due to being pounded a little too thin, but was still decent. His fresh-brewed iced tea was excellent. We splurged on a chocolate hazelnut cheesecake that was phenomenal! Would stop again for dessert alone!

Besides my family-in-law's cooking this was the highlight of our Missouri culinary experience…read more After a 3 hour flight it was a three hour drive to our destination. About 2 hours in we see signs on highway 54 for "Barnyard Smokehouse". Drooling over the signs and starving my wife start calculating by the time we arrive at our destination it'll be too late to eat with family so we follow the signs. There's no offramp, just hang an instant right off the highway onto the dirt road at the barnyard. Used to clearly marked offramps I missed it and had to take a detour. Luckily in Missouri you can make u-turns on the freeway :-D The entire property is the "Central Missouri Meat & Sausage". There's a deli, market, and restaurant called "Barnyard Smokehouse". Beef and pork is locally raised and butchered on site. Walking in the door we're greeted by warm and friendly people telling us to sit wherever. The restaurant is inside the market/deli to the right. Lots of tables. To start we order some fried pickles. They're sliced thin and battered in cornmeal and served with ranch dressing which is one of the food groups in Missouri. I wish the pickles used were more sour but they tasted really good. For dinner I had their smoked brisket with Texas toast, BBQ beans and Mac-n-Cheese. My wife had the same thing but with "bacon, cheddar, and ranch potato salad" and mac-n-cheese. When it came out I was skeptical since the tri-tip came out in paper thin slices but I shouldn't have judged a pile of meat by its looks since it was fantastic. Beef was saturated with smoky goodness and due to the thin cuts it was super tender. On the table was several made in house BBQ sauces. I really enjoyed their spicy one and my wife liked the sweet one. Side dishes were great too. Due to our odd flight times we only had a tiny sandwich on the airplane so we both devoured everything on our plates. While waiting for our food I walked over to the dessert case and perused. Another standard item in Missouri are refrigerated whip creamed based "pies". We ordered the oreo cookie one. It was gut busting rich. Thick slab of dense vanilla custard topped with crushed oreos and whipped cream. Super rich and decadent. We both felt like we were going to burst after our meals but it was a great start to our vacation. When walking around the market after we saw these giant 6 to 7 foot cured meat sticks made from pork. Since we were going to a potluck in a few days we got 4 of them and at the party cut them up into bite sized pieces. These pork sticks are AMAZING. The BBQ flavor was the favorite followed by the jalapeno. They have them in more reasonable sized pieces too that are vacuum sealed. I bought some for myself and some co-workers. If you find yourself driving on Highway 54 through Fulton, MO do yourself a favor and follow the signs to this great place!!
