Very small Coney Island in Melvindale Michigan. One of my Baptist pastors at the Pentecostal holiness church I attend said that this was his favorite restaurant but from my estimation it is basically a greasy spoon. And it's a clean place. So, If Walk in during the early morning hours they open at 6am and there will be about 10-15 blue collar people in sitting around for their breakfast drinking coffee and socializing with each other. Their food or produce delivery comes from Micelli and Oldfield. Looks like a two person operation one cook and one waitress I don't see a bus boy or a dishwasher. It's a good value . read more

Is it the Glass Onion Griddle Banana Nutella French Toast? No. Is it the best Coney Island breakfast I've ever had? Not quite. Does it beat the Comfort Inn and Suites complimentary breakfast? Hands down. And let's face it, where are you going to get toast, two eggs, meat and hash browns (grits or pancakes) for $3.85 until 11:00 a.m. everyday? Nowhere! It's as good as I'd make it at home and they'll even season it if you ask them to (I do). It's a diner that probably hasn't been renovated in fifty years but I'm not there for the atmosphere. And that adds to the charm! The staff is polite and efficient. It looks clean enough and there's plentiful parking. I always get bacon, wheat toast, hash browns and scrambled eggs. A nice little whole in the wall coney, this is my former boss and I's spot to grab a quick bite. I must say, the only thing we ever get here is breakfast, and the breakfast they put out is nice. AMBIANCE- this place is tiny, maybe about 12 tables, and a few seats at the bar. It can get pretty tight in there, but even at their busiest, I've never had to wait. SERVICE- servers are super friendly, and remember my boss and I whenever we come in. I guess a 6 foot tall Filipino and a 6'8" Serbian tend to be a memorable duo. MENU- smaller menu than most coneys, mostly focused on breakfast and lunch-ish type offerings. They do have daily specials, and breakfast specials before 11am. FOOD- my former boss and I always do the 3 eggs, all meats and hashbrowns breakfast. Instead of hash browns, they actually do home fries, and they are tasty. If you want an inexpensive breakfast that's served hot and to your specifications and you don't care much about the ambiance of the place then this is your place. Stranded due to flooded roads near my office, I stopped in here for carry out. BLT was decent and cheap, but the greek salad was tossed after one bite. Lettuce tasted like pesticides. Good traditional breakfast joint in Melvindale. I was just in the area at lunchtime and stopped by looking for another yelp first, imagine my surprise that Crag M beat me to it! Hasbrowns were perfect. Scrambled eggs not too well done. Served fast. Cheap! Decent coffee. For $6 out the door I just may be back. On April 1st 2017, I met with Johnny, the owner of Melvindale Coney Island. A very nice and respectful gentleman. We discussed the incident that happened and he assured me that nothing like this had happened before and that he will look in to this specific incident. Johnny said that his coney island is here to provide the best food and service possible to all customers. It is obvious that Johnny is not rasest against Muslims or anyone else. Of course customers are entitled to their thoughts and opinions but he will make sure the work place for his employees is to provide the best service possible to all. This is one of those archetypal coneys, in good old Melvindale. The selection is decent, and the food comes out quick. The veggie omelet was ok, as were the hash browns. But the grease is a killer. I really love this place, it's a small little coney restaurant that I go to with my Mom occasionally. I feel that their prices are really good and they give you a lot of food. I absolutely love the bbq sauce they have there too, it's just different. The waiters I've had there were all very nice and attentive and were patient too. The quality of the food is very good. My friend and I ate there today, 8/30/2017 on a 12.00 lunch,bill was $12.69, I should of gotten back $8.31 I told her to keep the $3.00 and give me back the $5.31, she didn't give me anything back but the .31 great food, just that waitress, is a thief, I called her back and told her, she said that she gave it back to me, long story short, out of 7 days in a week, I'm usually there at least 4 time's,a week but not any more, I'll find another one that does senior's right. read more
