Note from 7 years ago Yelp deleted hundreds of my reviews. Always really with great service and breakfast along salads and coney dogs, really nice clean small eating spot that will keep you coming back for more.

Very small Coney Island in Melvindale Michigan. One of my Baptist pastors at the Pentecostal holiness church I attend said that this was his favorite restaurant but from my estimation it is basically a greasy spoon. And it's a clean place. So, If Walk in during the early morning hours they open at 6am and there will be about 10-15 blue collar people in sitting around for their breakfast drinking coffee and socializing with each other. Their food or produce delivery comes from Micelli and Oldfield. Looks like a two person operation one cook and one waitress I don't see a bus boy or a dishwasher. It's a good value .

Is it pretty? No. Pretty tasty? Heck yeah! And you can't beat $3.85 for eggs, hash browns (grits or pancakes), toast and meat. By 11 am

The lady behind the counter was nice! The dogs, were delicious! They use a regular non cased hot dog here, so no snap, but the texture was still enjoyable. They pile on the chili and mustard and onions here. Probably the heaviest coney dogs I had all trip. After I was done, I still had a couple forkfuls of chili and onions to scoop up. Super messy, just like all the others. Also.....why do all the coney dog places in Detroit use shitty paper thin napkins? You need to use like 20. All good though, worth it! I can definitely see why Bourdain loved this place. Old school, and delicious!

And upon learning this, it seemed pretty universal that Duly's was the favorite of all of them. So when my friend and I drove in from Cleveland, Duly's was literally our first stop. We waited maybe 5 minutes for a couple of seats to open up, and promptly ordered a couple of coney's each. I'm not exaggerating when I say I was taking my first bite less than 3 minutes later. And they were quite tasty. So tasty, in fact, that I ordered a third one. And some coffee to avoid a food coma. And my grand total was $13 lol. The last time I paid $13 for a meal was.... the early 2010's? Kudos to Duly's for running a quick, affordable operation here!

Tucked in the Chrysler building is the Dime Store restaurant, this is a small establishment with about 20-ish tables and bar seating. Entrance is through the Chrysler building. I must mention there is ample street or structure parking in the area. Dine Store is casual feels with BIG flavors! Plus the Staff were friendly and welcoming. At our table, we started with Chai Lattes. They offer milk alternatives-Yaay! The Chai was good sprinkled with cinnamon and steaming hot. It could have used a bit more chai, which I'm sure they would have supplied but it was good that I sipped away. To note, they do offer cocktails and beers, as not all brunch places do. We tried the Mushroom and Goat cheese Omelette and a Build your Own omelette. Our table was pleased as the omelettes may appear 'small' but don't let that fool you, they were packed with flavor. Also, the dishes were made to order. The cubed potatoes were delicious along with the Zingerman's Toast with strawberry jam. Oh yes, we also got a side of the chicken sausage and no disappointments. Everything was cooked to perfection. I must point out that the ingredients were fresh, we could taste the difference with the farm to table ingredients and the potatoes and omelettes were not greasy at all! Can't wait to visit again-recommended!

Two times I ordered a BLT and french fries. I'm super picky about fries...I ordered them well done both times and they were PERFECTION. I have no idea what type of oil they fry them in, but they were tasty, crisp, and hot...just how I like them. And the order was huge! The BLT had crispy bacon as ordered and a lot of it, plus the usual tomato and lettuce. The only thing lacking was a side pickle, but I will ask for one next time and make the suggestion. Another order was a ham and American cheese omelet for breakfast. The ham was in chunks! I kid you not. Flavorful and good...but IMO it overtook the cheese part of the omelet. It needs another slice of cheese to make the omelet perfect. Hashbrowns were crisp, hot, and good. Toast is toast. Lastly, I tried a chef salad. It was huge and heavy! Totally large enough for two meals! Big full strips of ham and turkey - I cut them in half to save for a second meal. Tons of cheese, lettuce and tomato, and the hard boiled egg was perfect, as in no green to be seen! Dressing on the side, and I added croutons at home. This is exactly how I like my salad! The menu itself is large and varied - pretty much anything you want is on there. (Looking at YOU, meat loaf...) There is also a display case with desserts that looks very tempting... I will have to check that out next time. I think the prices are fair. The restaurant is clean and cozy; the service is really good, friendly, and fast. The location is great too - I-75 and Sibley Rd, just off the exit past Racho Rd., so if you are a traveler its an easy place to stop in to eat, then jump right back on the freeway. I'm giving this place 5 stars. The effort is there. I think you will love this place!

The kids also remember back in the day just walking through and wishing they could eat here. Then, it finally happened, and they were so excited! Many, many years ago, I remember my oldest child finally liking chicken pot pie due to this place serving it. Well, over the years the menu has chanced, but the kids still love this experience and can't resist coming here for lunch. True, as stated in another review, the menu is super limited, but it has that charm of an old timey diner. The menu also changes from time to time, so go online before you come or look at the menu at the front before entering, because there are other places to eat, especially when the Village is also open. A couple of us opted for the half chicken salad sandwich and the cup of soup. I got broccoli cheddar and my child got the chicken noodle, but she wished she got the broccoli. We also had chips and bottles of pop, I got the Coke and it was so good and refreshing. I do not love sugar Coke unless it is from the glass bottle (this was cane sugar from Mexico, and really good, not too sweet). The other child got pastrami and cheese with mayo, also very tasty. I love a good old fashion sandwich that I do not need to make myself, it tastes like old school elementary school lunch from my childhood. We also got pies a la mode. One got pumpkin and two got mixed berry, all very good. You do not come here just for the food, this is for the atmosphere and the experience, which is worth it at least once, even though my kids will want it almost every visit.
