If you'd had Playabowls and Fruttabowls, you'll need to experience Melonhead. Their ingredients are fresher. There's no apple juice in their açaí or pitaya base in their bowls. Come and taste the difference. You'll find smoothies and cold brew coffee too! Another location to open in Red Bank soon. Eat better. Feel better!

    Sandy Hook day

Found this spot on a recent trip to Sandy Hook. I'm a big fan of these new fruit bowl locations, as these bowls are healthy and delicious. I ordered the "Mucho Mango", which came with acai, oats, coconut flakes, strawberries, honey, and of course mangoes. This of course was pleasure to enjoy on a sunny, 81 degree day. I would have liked for the cashier to be friendlier, at least to crack a smile. The interior was colorful and vibing with music. There are seats and tables inside and outside. Parking may be a challenge near the area during summer months, but worth it. When in the area I'll def go back.

Love this new place! I have been to both Playa bowls and Melonhead, and deeply enjoy both joints. The only thing that I suggest for Melonhead is to give more options for customers (without using the modified bowl). For example an option of how much granola. All in all, really cool place!

This is one of my favorite places to get an acaì bowl! After having many acai bowls in the Monmouth county I have to say this place is the best! The staff is super nice and friendly, the bowls are amazing and freshly made!

I love the vibes of this place!!

I'm a meat eater, so when I tell you I was genuinely impressed by this completely vegan restaurant,…read moreyou know it's worth talking about! The Sesame Crunch Salad was abundant and had that perfect combination of fresh, crunchy, and satisfying. Very tangy dressing. The Mediterranean Bowl was one of my favorites. It was fresh, filling, and had all those classic Mediterranean flavors coming together in one bowl. Yup, even vegan tzatziki and feta. The Meatball Parm Sub had this hearty, saucy, cheesy combination you want from a meatball parm, and really mimicked the texture and flavor of a real meatball well. The Cheezsteak was another one that really surprised me. It had that classic cheesesteak feel without the meat, although this wasn't a personal favorite of mine. And if you're a pesto lover, the Chick'n Parm Pesto is one you have to try. It was crispy, cheesy, saucy, and packed with pesto flavor. My favorite of the sandwiches! And great ciabatta bread. The Acai Bowl was the perfect refreshing way to finish everything. Very fresh fruit. The place is clean, well maintained, and has regular tables and bar seating. The staff member was helpful in helping us pick some popular options which was nice coming from another fellow omnivore. So if you're vegan, vegetarian, or just someone who loves good food, I'd say this is worth checking out!

I was really disappointed about tzakiki cuz there's no garlic or shredded cucumber with herbs such as dill weed in it. It was very bland. I'm going to add garlic n shred some cucumber to bring up the flavors. The boss needs to keep up with what his employees were making.

Shore Shakes is really small, literally just a counter with 3 or 4 stools. But of all the times I passed by there, I've never seen a line at the shake counter. Which leads me to say this place is a hidden gem and a half! The two dudes that were there at the time seemed super cool and very friendly. I'm not really that much of a social person, but I talked with the guy who made my smoothie for a few minutes after my smoothie was done. Definitely a nice, enegetic atmosphere, good music, and great staff. As for my smoothie. It was a s fresh as can be. They make it right infront of you, so you can see all that goes into it. No presevatives/ pre-made mixes or anything like that. I'd also like to add that most smootie places that I go to in the city charge you about $6 for a 16 ounce smoothie, so I was very satisfied that to see Shore Shakes giving 24 ouncers for the same price. And best of all, the few drinks they offer that have protien powder in them, they give you healthy doces. Something like 23 to 35 grams depending on what smoothie you get. And there's a great selection to chose from.

After I chose my smoothie, they started it off with a syrupy mix, which looked sugary and gross. The only "fresh" thing they put in was blueberries, which looked like they had been sitting in the tub for days. They put a vanilla protein powder in, whatever, and then they blended it all together with some ice. The "smoothie" was a sugary, syrupy mess. On the brighter side, my friend got a strawberry smoothie which they put in some "fresh" strawberries and he added peanut butter which made it less sweet and Taste better. We probably still won't go back.

Yeah that was my mom and thank you Yelp for helping me find GLO! I got the Harvest Bowl which just so happened to be Vegan and Gluten Free. It was delicious and packed with all of my favorites like sweet potato, black beans, quinoa, etc. I usually don't opt for vegan cheeses but I honestly couldn't tell. Oh!
