The only thing I regret about my wedding day is wasting on money on this "planner". I paid over $3000 for 6-8 months of planning and day-of-coordinator. At best, I got a couple of emails, ALOT of back and forth in the month leading up to my wedding and a coordinator who came up to me during my dinner to ask how to solve a issue. I booked Melissa and her team 13 months out from my wedding. I had had a phone call with her and given the prices and the services that would be included, I figured this was great! I didn't hear from her or her team until 8 months out from the wedding so I reached out and met with Melissa 5 months and 4 months out. The meetings were helpful and her planning document was thorough, so I'll give her that. She agreed to come to our details meeting 2 months before our wedding and did have good questions. But leaving the meeting she said "It would be better if you texted me, I just have too many emails to keep track of"....... While I don't mind texting, I don't know if that's the best thing to say to someone paying you thousands of dollars? At this point, I also just assumed she wasn't helping with the planning at all. I planned everything, found every vendor and coordinated everything. As a part of the package, her team was supposed to provide "vendor referrals & comparables & selection". I asked for a list of DJ & makeup-artists, got it, and then heard nothing else. I didn't know I had to request each of those individuals things be done. I didn't mind because I had the time to email vendors and review their packages, but I wasted my money on the "planning" part. 1 month before the wedding, her team did not have a timeline ready, despite me finished up the pre-document 2 months before the wedding. I has to email her team asking for it and when I finally got it, it has comments on it like "where are the dinner plates for the buffet going to be? Will both maids of honor be giving a speech?" and many other questions that could have been emailed to the venue (like I was paying them to do) or sent to me before my wedding was 21 days away. On the day of the wedding rehearsal, Melissa was 20 minutes late due to rain and babysitting issues. While I understand both of those are out of her control, I was still frustrated. I showed her all the decorations that needed to be set up the next day and then proceeded to build some of them with the help of my wedding party, while she left. On the actual wedding day, she was almost nowhere to be found.Part of the package also included her team meeting the bridal party as we got ready and bringing us food. She never brought it up and I never asked, so I just had family bring me food. Again, maybe I should have asked her to do her job, but also, I shouldn't have to? Once we got to the venue,I never saw her and I have to assume she and her two assistants were setting up the dinner space, but the venue team then had to come to my maids of honor with all their questions. I had made a binder with all the timelines, decorations and designs and her team used it to set everything up. So good thing I had spent the last 6 months making that after paying her to be my planner and coordinator. She even thanked me at the end of the night for being so organized and then asked if she could take a bouquet home. As I sat down for dinner, she came over to tell me that one of the tables had been set up with 8 chairs instead of 10. Even though she and her team has supposedly set up the tables (menus, favors, etc.) and didn't notice (or likely double-check). And what was I supposed to do with that? Thankfully, the venue team was already fixing it but like, what am I, as the bride, supposed to do about that? Fix it. Her team did help clean up at the end of the night, but under the management of my maids of honor who they just treated as in charge. And I handed off the vendor tips to her when I got to the venue for my husband to put cash in. We found them in his getting ready room at the end of the night. So the one thing she had told me multiple times she would handle and is like the most BASIC thing a day-of-coordinator should do, what just left undone by 3 people. All this to say, save your money on the planning and coordinating. From other reviews, Melissa and her team are clearly capable of being helpful and attentive. But they could barely manage to be that for us. She never checked in on how things were going. I shouldn't have had to ask her to do each of the things I was promised in her contract, she should just do them or ask if I needed help. Our experience with Mellie Bee Events was amazing. Both Thao and Melissa were involved with our 10/04/24 wedding and we could not recommend them more. My wife and I hired Melissa to support out vision of creating what we called the "wedding of the century" a little under 2 months ago. We had talked to her in great detail about what we wanted and of course, like with any wedding, most of if not everything we initially planned out changed, for the better, and Melissa and her team were holding our hands through the entire process. Huge disconnect because of their lack of communication, and even ended up being dishonest and unprofessional when addressing the issue of them literally STEALING a flower arch that was never theirs. Dishonest, Incompetent, Unprofessional Coordinators - A Nightmare Experience Words cannot describe the sheer disappointment and anger we felt towards the coordination team from Mellie Bee Events (Melissa, Tam, Thaolinh). From the very start, there were red flags about their dubious professionalism and integrity that culminated in an appalling act of deception on our wedding day. What should have been a joyous celebration was marred by the apparent theft of our beautiful, sentimental flower arch by none other than the Mellie Bee coordinators themselves. When we frantically searched for the arch toward the end of the night (we pointed directly to the spot where it should have been), every single one of them feigned complete ignorance, boldly lying to our faces that they had not seen it. Their blatant dishonesty was infuriating enough, but it was the subsequent trickle of lies and pathetic excuses that truly exposed their lack of ethics and accountability. First, they tried to pass it off as a "misunderstanding" the day after, stating they had merely packed up the arch as instructed by the florist, who is also my wife's aunt. However, we had confirmation from the florist herself that no such instructions were given. Even when presented with video evidence from the venue catching Melissa and one of the assistants (Thaolinh) red-handed dismantling and removing the arch, they still had the audacity to deny wrongdoing. After failing to try to convince us that it was just some misunderstanding, they finally ADMITTED to stealing the arch. However, the excuses evolved into desperately placing the blame solely on the "assistant," trying to salvage some professionalism while still avoiding personal responsibility. As the lies unraveled further, the lead coordinator Melissa trotted out a conveniently timed personal crisis about her father's hospitalization to garner sympathy and explain her "distressed" state that caused her to completely forget about what happened to the arch right after she broke it down. However, eyewitness accounts (myself included) confirmed she appeared completely unbothered and even jovial throughout the night, even sticking around after the wedding to have a "friendly" chat with me and my friend. Even if it was true that her father was hospitalized, that somehow lead to her having complete amnesia regarding the arch to the point where she did not know what happened to it, even though video footage shows her breaking it down? Even though we pointed directly at the spot it should have been, the spot that she had just been standing in minutes prior? Granted, they eventually returned it to us, but probably after realizing that we would catch them in one way or another. However, I don't care if we got it back or not. It's about the principle of it all. To steal from your own paying customers on one of the most important days of their lives is completely unacceptable, deplorable, and appalling. To top it all off, we had to go back and forth about this with one of the other coordinators, Tam and have not heard anything from the main coordinator and business owner, Melissa. It has been 3 days since our wedding and we have not even received a simple 1-to-2 line apology from her. At every turn, we were met with deception, cover-ups, and utter disrespect from people who were being paid to ensure our special day went smoothly. The Mellie Bee team's unconscionable actions and complete disregard for honesty and integrity left us feeling violated and betrayed during what should have been a celebratory time in our lives. We hired Melissa to help us plan and coordinate our wedding. I had started planning a wedding in 2020 and had secured some of our vendors, but that wedding got canceled by the venue. Fast forward to 2022, we started planning again at a new venue, that unlike the first one, was not all inclusive. By this time, I had stepped in to help my husband run our business and did not have to capacity to do a lot of wedding planning on my own. About three months before our wedding, we decided to add a reception. Fortunately, we found Melissa and her team. Words cannot describe how critical Melissa was in guiding us through our Vietnamese-American Catholic wedding and reception. Her familiarity with all these aspects allowed her to seamlessly interface with parents and church officials. Then, as fast as things seemed to be moving day of, Melissa and her team were able to coordinate all of our vendors to transform a community center into a space that was fitting for our family and friends. Somehow, Melissa and co were able to do this when they did not have access to the venue, which was in Irvine, until 9:30 am, and also had to be in Santa Ana for the church ceremony. And we only had about an hour between the end of the ceremony and cocktail hour. Melissa and her team's execution was superb despite all the logistical challenges. We really felt like Melissa and co were willing to do anything it took to ensure our special day ran smoothly. On the wedding day, Melissa and her team were by our side throughout most of the night to grab us anything we needed and to help me change into my cultural and reception outfits. She also tried to keep us on track with our timeline despite us falling behind a bit. While Melissa and her team were great, there were a few things I wish they did leading up to the wedding and on the wedding day to show they went truly above and beyond. Introducing her team to us at the venue - When we arrived at the venue, we weren't introduced to her team so we didn't know who was on Melissa's team until later on. It would've been helpful to be introduced to her team upon arriving at the venue to know who we could go to if we needed anything. Melissa's team and the waitstaff were both wearing black outfits so it was hard to distinguish between the two. Prepping us on table greetings - Table greetings were disorganized since our wedding party, my husband and I didn't know which tables we were going to until we finished with the current table. We were running around in a Z shape vs an S shaped (which might've made more sense since the tables were next to each other vs being on opposite ends). She explained to us why we went in that order, but it was still confusing. Reviewing the chronological order for table greetings ahead of time would've helped us be more prepared and organized. Being late to the initial details meeting with the venue - It would've been great if Melissa double checked the details meeting time to ensure she arrived at the correct time. Melissa was 30 mins late so my husband and I attended this meeting by ourselves with the venue's event manager. It would've been helpful to get Melissa's insights on some of the decor since we were making most of the decisions without her. We were unsure if there were some things we weren't considering so having her there would've made us feel confident in our decor choices. This was our first time meeting her in person and making a good first impression is something you should be mindful of. Lack of proactiveness and attention to detail - While Melissa and her team handled a lot of the decor tasks and checked in on my husband and I throughout the night, I noticed there was a lack of proactiveness and attention to detail from her team. When cocktail hour started, I had to point out to her team how to rearrange the ceremony flowers on the sweetheart table and that some of our centerpiece candles weren't lit. Halfway through cocktail hour, I saw a large floral decor in my bridal suite that was supposed to be placed by the seating chart. I had to tell Melissa's team to place the floral decor by the seating chart since nobody was aware it was still sitting in the bridal suite. It's frustrating to point these details out since I sent Melissa a very detailed and itemized wedding decor list with every task outlined so she and her team knew what exactly to do. I also wished one person from her team was in clear sight of us throughout the whole night since there were moments where we needed something, but they weren't around for us to call them over. Also, I wish Melissa and her team checked with the catering staff to see if my husband and I were being served each course, but I don't think they did since we only received 1 out of 8 courses. They ended up packing the food we didn't get to eat, but didn't think to ask us who was driving us back to our Airbnb and gave the food to our parents who were going to a different destination. I shared this feedback with Melissa during our debrief. While she seemed understanding for the most part, she focused on defending her and her team's actions rather than being receptive to the feedback. Now that I look back at our wedding day, I can't imagine how things would have been if we didn't hire Melissa and her team. And to think that I was on the fence for a while about hiring a day-of coordinator! Forget about having family members or friends take care of things for you...You need to get someone who you can trust and be your eyes and ears, someone who is familiar with the wedding industry, and who has the means to pull everything together, so that you can have a stress-free day or as close to one as possible! I hired Melissa for only coordination of our tea ceremony (which took place at the venue) and wedding reception, which I thought would be straight forward, but she took it a step further and helped me and my husband think of things we wouldn't have considered. Even at the last minute, she had ideas for how to hang our double happiness sign for the tea ceremony and offered to provide a cake stand when she realized we didn't have one. She also helped take care of a problem between our venue and churro vendor, and got it sorted out so that we could have churros served at the end of the night (whoohoo!). When we were taking welcome photos at the venue with our guests, Melissa and her team were on it and made sure my husband and I would get a drink or quick bite to eat in between shots, so that we could stay hydrated and energized. For the table visits, she helped with ushering us between guest tables and keeping us on track with timing. And additional bonus points that she speaks Vietnamese so could communicate with my family members who didn't speak English. And at the end of the night, everything was packed up and where it needed to be. She even saved me a couple centerpieces without asking! Melissa and her team (Rosie and Collette) were a LIFESAVER on my wedding day. I didn't have to worry about a thing and I couldn't believe how perfect our wedding day turned out. She's detailed-orientated and organized and so friendly and sweet....I love her as a person and friend and really good at what she does so I knew I was able to trust her with how great the day would turn out. We met with her on two occasions to first talk about the services she can offer and met with her again right before our wedding to talk about the schedule and all the details involved. She made an extensive detailed schedule and reached out to all of our vendors to make sure everyone is on track. I think this really helped keep everyone on the same page! At the reception, there was a bit of a hiccup with our photobooth guy and the Mellie Bee team handled it immediately and without any issues. I also had a few desserts being delivered and she let us borrow her plates and stands and set up our dessert table. At the end of the night, the Mellie Bee team also packed all of our stuff up so that we just had to jump into the car and head home. Amazing! What else can't they do?! Looking back at how perfect our day was, we are SO GRATEFUL for having Melissa and her team by our side...it was like having our own personal assistant right there with us every step of the way. I got married at the Villa this past August and my venue had recommended Mellie Bee Events since they had worked there many times before. I had no plans to hire a day of coordinator until a few weeks before my wedding when I realized I couldn't do it alone and could really use the help. It was the best decision I could have made for the wedding! I'm so glad I hired Mellie Bee Events to oversee the details and flow of my wedding day. My fiance and I met with Melissa and Rosie weeks before the wedding over dinner to run through the timeline. Two hours flew by and by the end of it my fiance and I were so relieved because we knew we were in good hands. Rosie was my coordinator on the day of, but throughout the whole process I had both ladies supporting me. On the big day, Rosie arrived promptly and she had two assistants to help with setup. I can't express enough how grateful I am for Rosie and her team. One word... disaster. I was a part of the groomsman party for my best friends wedding earlier this year and let me tell you, if I was stressed during this wedding I can't imagine how both the bride and groom felt on this special day of their lives. Oh where to start! First and foremost, I was definitely a procrastinating bride but Melissa definitely set me at ease and was so responsive of all my needs during the process. Melissa made time to be there at our dress rehearsal even though she had another rehearsal to go to right after. Our main coordinator for the day of was Samantha and can I just say she was a rock star!! We hired Melissa and her team for our May 2022 wedding and it was definitely worth it! We got the day of coordination service and they executed everything flawlessly! We already had our wedding postponed from the previous year due to covid, and Melissa and her team were very understanding of this. Melissa met up with us a few weeks before the wedding to go over our wedding timeline, and this was extremely helpful because she thought of ideas and things we didn't even think of! I was already anxious from having to plan the wedding during covid to begin with, but she made it easy!!! During the reception, Melissa and her team took care of us that night and even had some safety pins handy for a dress issue I had the day of. While we were eating at the bride and groom table, her team even offered to get us drinks from the bar multiple times throughout the night. They constantly were checking in with us to make sure we had what we needed which was awesome. Her team worked really well with our other vendors too which is a major plus. When we walked through our venue that night, everything on the tables and the event space was laid out perfectly just like we envisioned!!! One of the best decisions we made was to hire Melissa. With our wedding being postponed 2x due to COVID, we had not been doing much wedding planning - and then all of the sudden, our wedding was coming up in 3+ months. I went into freak-out mode because there were still so many details that hadn't been figured out yet. Luckily, we found Melissa and our lives were saved. Leading up to the wedding (June 26, 2021), Melissa helped us with a number of things, including designing all the signs (table numbers, seating chart, welcome sign, etc...), coordinating the timeline and all the vendors, and helped us source the late night snack and dessert vendors (both of which were AMAZING!!). Her support with these efforts significantly helped with reducing the burden and stress from me! She thought of every detail and was always on top of everything. Because of her detailed planning, the day of went SO SMOOTH and PERFECT! She helped pick up all the florals in the morning so the bridal party could take photos with them before the church ceremony. From then on, there was literally nothing that went wrong. We were stress-free and didn't have to do anything except enjoy our special day. She kept us on schedule and made sure all the planned items were met! She even tried to make sure I was fed pre-reception, knowing that I would not have a lot of time to eat. A wedding is of course one of the most important days of people lives and my cousins trusted Melissa and her team to help with the wedding coordination and event planning. It was very disappointing to hear about the lack of communication that Melissa and her team provided my cousins during their wedding. When there was confusion as to how the flower arc looked and whether it's supposed to be asymmetric, my uncles tried to fix it but I had to be the one to tell them it's meant to be asymmetric and to tell them to stop. Melissa just stood there and only spoke after I stepped in. There was a "misunderstanding" with the flower arc with the team and Melissa stating that they had no idea what happened to it after the reception. The next day, they said that the florist, who is within the family, said they could throw it away even though she didn't talk to them about it. Security footage have shown that they took down the ark and kept it with Melissa's supervision. Then the team and Melissa tried to play it off as some kind of misunderstanding, and then inciting that Melissa had a family emergency occurring, even though she showed no signs of being in a state of despair after the wedding was over as she was talking to multiple guests and having a good time. Even after the party when my cousins pointed at the location and asked where it was, the team stated they didn't know where. It's very disappointing to trust someone the most important day of your life and this is how they treat you with such lack of honesty and accountability. read more
