They put my braces in today, and I am all good, but I am worried about my cheek, so I don't think they cut the wire short enough.

Finger Lakes Orthodontics has been treating my granddaughter, aged 14, for 2 years. In December of…read more2017, she removed the wires on mygranddaughter'ss braces and said her gums were in poor condition so until her brushing improved - no wires. So we got an electric toothbrush, water pick, went to a hygienist and overall... did all we good to improve her slovenly ways. The hygienist assured us her gums and tissues were excellent and while this was only a "snapshot in time" rather than an overall assessment of how well or not she cared for her teeth....at that time - her brushing and care was excellent. We went back to the orthodontist monthly - in April she threatened again to remove the brackets entirely and in June we have a type of falling out because she insisted on removing them and I insisted, since I had paid nearly $6000 to have this child's teeth straightened - and 2 1/2 years of my life and her's... that she wasn't going to remove them. She promised to return the money and remove the brackets but two months later - 6 months of no care ... she has yet to do either! I am writing to her board of peers, have notified by of our insurance companies who are expecting refunds as well, and overall - believe she falls into the fraudulent charges for negligent services category. She couldn't believe that I would want a refund. She claims to have removed braces from other children and no parent was "this" upset...? why? Who would pay this kind of money for a service NOT provided? Why would she agree to remove the remaining brackets and refund the money then cease to communicate with us? Moremi... is her name... avoid ...this ....office! Unless you have a very diligent child.

My husband had a cap split n fall out. I called Corning Dental Associates for information re:…read morerepair and whether he could use his Insurance. The front desk person immediately stated that no decisions could be made because he wld be REQUIRED to have "full mouth xrays, a comprehensive dental exam and a cleaning/ hygiene appt". I started to explain that he has his hygiene, as covered by his insurance, biannually. She stated very firmly that he would be required to have hygiene performed. She repeated three times the RULES required before he could be seen for his broken tooth. Yes, its best For Xrays and a comprehensive exam being necessary. In addition to feeling bullied by this person, it kept going badly. I asked a simple question if whether they accepted insurance payments before we had to pay the bill. "No, he pays and waits for the insurance reimbursement" Soooo they can charge whatever they want and the patient gets "whatever". This phone interaction was the rudest communication I have ever had with a healthcare facility office. As an Rn myself, with a 50 year hospital career and currently working as a fill-in physicians office RN, this pretty much sounded like extortion of persons needing emergency treatment. I asked her twice why he was required to have cleaning despite having this done in our out of state location, she said it was a requirement. That alone would be 100% out of pocket. It was obvious that this dental office puts money as their first and only priority. We were referred by a friend who pays cash and has all her care at the dental associated location. No Thanks. As it is, we wld have to drive an hour in to Corning for care while dreading and assuming mistrust of this group. It felt like upfront extortion! My husband had tongue cancer, radiation to his tongue and full mouth xrays wld need to have been discussed and negotiated by a dentist! This front desk person never asked anything about my husband. Also, his chemo therapy caused significant deafness which was not a yopic I had any chance of mentioning. I was pretty much bullied, Amen Be careful using this group, there are others available with less glitz n glamor! We found another dental office that not only asked about my husband's dental history, they spent time explaining how they needed to know a lot more and yes, they bill insurance company first! Couldn't have been nicer!

The work was phenomenal and this was the best orthodontic experience I've ever had. I almost wish I had lived here while I did invisalign so that Dr. Duthie could've been my ortho!

I'm just gonna start saying the nurses all are kinda rude and condescending. I have a mild german accent and during my first appointment the nurse looked at me and saying in a really rude tone "I don't know what you just said" and turned away, with 0 intent to clarify what I was trying to tell her (my accent is really not that bad and overall, just rude). 1) After the first half of my treatment I had my attachments removed, which was rather painful since your teeth get a bit sensitive from shifting around. They took a Xray and pointed out there was something to be reviewed with my dentist, and they would send the Xrays over that day. When I went to the dentist a few weeks later, they said nothing was send over. Also the dentist had to remove attachments remains that where still stuck to my teeth. When I picked up my new batch of aligners months later at Duthies, they had to drill of attachment remains AGAIN, so it took a whole 3 times of painful filing attachment residue from my teeth.. needless to say I declined getting a new set of attachments back on for the second half (and btw the aligners do their job just fine without them, even though the nurse pretend it would not work without). 2) I am currently unable to make it to their office during weekdays, and reached out over a week ago canceling my appointment asking them to send me my aligners per mail (this is something they have agreed to before, even to sending them to Europe). No response from Kim, I send another mail to a different front-desk worker (Missy), and again no response, for over a whole week they had time to read my message and respond. Today I get a text that I missed my appointment. The front desk worker Courtney wasn't aware of anything, and then proceeded to tell me that Dr Berry (who was working there before Dr Duthie retired) somehow changed their policies for sending aligners. Again, just a few months back, they where perfectly fine even sending them to my European address. For the amount of money I am paying them, I would expect more. It has also been nothing new for them not reading/ responding to my emails. 3) Petty but they misspell my name on every letter, correspondence and bill. I brought this up a few times but they cannot be arsed to correct it. Again, I'd definitely looked for a different provider would I have known all this in advance.

Overall, I could not be more happy. He has two offices. One in Binghamton and one in Endicott and NO they are not big fancy plush offices with game rooms and espresso machines and bubble gum flavored latex exam gloves. Hallelujah!
