If you are thinking about getting Invisalign treatment I recommend you look elsewhere. My experience with Duthie Orthodontics has gotten increasingly annoying. I'm just gonna start saying the nurses all are kinda rude and condescending. I have a mild german accent and during my first appointment the nurse looked at me and saying in a really rude tone "I don't know what you just said" and turned away, with 0 intent to clarify what I was trying to tell her (my accent is really not that bad and overall, just rude). 1) After the first half of my treatment I had my attachments removed, which was rather painful since your teeth get a bit sensitive from shifting around. They took a Xray and pointed out there was something to be reviewed with my dentist, and they would send the Xrays over that day. When I went to the dentist a few weeks later, they said nothing was send over. Also the dentist had to remove attachments remains that where still stuck to my teeth. When I picked up my new batch of aligners months later at Duthies, they had to drill of attachment remains AGAIN, so it took a whole 3 times of painful filing attachment residue from my teeth.. needless to say I declined getting a new set of attachments back on for the second half (and btw the aligners do their job just fine without them, even though the nurse pretend it would not work without). 2) I am currently unable to make it to their office during weekdays, and reached out over a week ago canceling my appointment asking them to send me my aligners per mail (this is something they have agreed to before, even to sending them to Europe). No response from Kim, I send another mail to a different front-desk worker (Missy), and again no response, for over a whole week they had time to read my message and respond. Today I get a text that I missed my appointment. The front desk worker Courtney wasn't aware of anything, and then proceeded to tell me that Dr Berry (who was working there before Dr Duthie retired) somehow changed their policies for sending aligners. Again, just a few months back, they where perfectly fine even sending them to my European address. For the amount of money I am paying them, I would expect more. It has also been nothing new for them not reading/ responding to my emails. 3) Petty but they misspell my name on every letter, correspondence and bill. I brought this up a few times but they cannot be arsed to correct it. Again, I'd definitely looked for a different provider would I have known all this in advance. read more

honestly I would give negative stars if i could . this place is horrible the customer service is unexpected. the dental hygienist don't know what they are doing as your brackets will literally just fall off . would not recommend. read more

Scheduling is a nightmare. Can never reschedule appointments unless you book 6 months in advance...

Dr Duthie and his team are great. He is friendly and they work with your child to make sure they are comfortable with the procedure. His prices are fair and reasonable. I didn't expect to have such a great experience, but he has helped our kid have a great smile, which is of course, priceless. read more

We were visiting the area and my daughter needed her retainer adjusted. Carrie at the front office was so helpful and got us an appointment the very next day. This office is so organized, with text message reminders and online patient forms. The registration process was seamless! The day of our appointment we texted the front office upon arrival and we're promptly let into the waiting area (they also have a beautiful outdoor waiting area). Carrie warmly welcomed us and helped make my daughter feel at ease. We were soon let into a private patient office. Dr. Duthie was so nice and had an excellent bedside manner. He established an excellent rappor with my daughter and had a great clinical acumen. The staff and assistants were so great and were able to mold and create a new plastic retainer in less than an hour! This was just a thoroughly fantastic experience from beginning to end. Great environment and the very friendly dentist you will ever meet. I had to come here because I had one tooth that started to crook. I lost my retainer and it happened. My first consultation was great. The female person who took my info and explained the price was very friendly. The dentist was very very friendly. He never rushed me. He listened to all my stories. He actually tried to offer me just getting a free retainer. He said my teeth are healthy the way it is. I was like what? Isn't he supposed to try to make me buy the braces? He was very honest. So I decided to get the braces from him. The female specialist who put the braces for me was very friendly as well. One thing that I was not happy about was how the receptionist was very unprofessional. They make you reply to messages, and I swear I never received a message asking if I have cold symptoms. I waited 25 minutes outside and I got a call from the receptionist who sounded really upset and irritated. The wait is normal due to COVID-19. She asked me whether I got a message or not. And I said I did not get it. But she said I was supposed to reply to the message or they cannot see me. So I said I did not get it. But she ignored it and said I have to reply that I have no symptoms. So I just replied instead of claiming that I did not receive the message. I apologize that I did not reply, but I really did not get the message. read more

Dr. Duthie is incredibly nice and professional. Staff is kind and prompt as well. The Dr. is patient, take time to explain why things are done and genuinely care about the wellbeing of his patients. I've had nothing but great experiences and highly recommend. read more

I was on vacation with my family and I had a emergency that needed attention ASAP. Doctor Duthie was the only person that was able to see me because it was 10 pm. He was kind, welcoming, professional and had a great sense of humor. I highly recommend Doctor Duthie to anyone who needs orthodontics care. I hope I cross paths with him again. read more

Dr Duthie and his staff are extremely friendly and professional. I came in to remake my retainer that I cleverly warped with hot water and I was in and out with impressions taken without 30 minutes! They are great at managing wait times and dr Duthie took the time to talk through different retainer options with me. So glad I found a great orthodontist out in Ithaca! read more

I had the worst customer services experience with the front desk staff in this practice today. I was referred to this clinic by their doctor's father, whom I see as a general dentist. Here is what happened: 1. About 2 months ago, I went to their office to ask about the insurance plan and to schedule an appointment. The front desk staff Michelle took my insurance card and promised me to get back to in 2 weeks at most. However, she did not reply at all, and I have to call their office again to have the insurance sorted out with other staff. 2. Today I went to the office, it was the front desk staff Michelle again. She has the worst fake smile in her face all the time which made me very uncomfortable. What's worse is she literally talk to patients, including me, in person or on the phone with mouthful of food. She kept eating the snacks and talking to me. When she handed me over the enrollment form, I could even see an oily fingerprint in the paper. I don't care if the staff eats in the office or not, however, it is just so impolite and not hygiene at all talking to patients with a full mouth of food and oily hands. Michelle looks like an aged lady, who should have known some social etiquette. 3. I waited in their clinic for 56 minutes to be exact, and no doctor or no one came to get me for the appointment. I got the reminder message for the 10:00 appointment, however, they kept saying it's 10:30. Okay, fine, even if it's 10:30, no one updated me at all when it hits 11. Sigh. I totally understand that doctors are busy. Though, out patients' time is also valuable. Before I left, Michelle still gave me those fake smiles with very impatient tones talking to me sending me the message that "you either wait or whatever". Sigh. read more

Dr. Duthie and his staff were kind and courteous throughout the process of my partner's braces, from two consults (we did the first, then waited over a year because of travel plans) through the very end. They put us at ease and were extra considerate of him as an adult patient who was a bit self conscious. Honestly, I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about related to Michelle. I have overheard numerous people at parties or school events discussing how amazing she is and how they wish they could hire her at their office. She gave our family, and every family I know tremendous, over the top, personalized service, over several years. Regrettably, she is no longer with this office, and although it is a huge loss, Duthie Orthodontics has given us super care and been very effective at achieving goals. A terrific group! Made room last minute to see my daughter, a college student hours from home, whose permanent retainer proved less permanent than it's supposed to be! I absolutely love this practice. Dr. Duthie is funny and welcoming and is great at what he does. We see him around town and he always remembers my daughter's name and comes over to chat with us. His whole staff is lovely but Michelle, at the front desk, is who we see the most. She is amazing. She is so accommodating and always has a smile on her face. I really love this place and all the staff here. I shopped around a bit in Ithaca for a good orthodontist and settled on Dr. Duthie after I realized he was going to treat me like peer. I've had dentists in the past try to throw their weight around by dodging questions and pulling rank. Duthie and co. has never once done that with me and are all very respectful and open to answering questions. It's so refreshing to work with people who respect their patients' intelligence. Some people may not care to know the details of what's being done in their mouth, but I appreciate it! Their prices are transparent and they offer a discount if you pay for your full treatment up front. I've been with them for about a year and a half now, and have been very satisfied with all aspects of their service. Michelle at reception is one of the most welcoming people you'll ever meet. The office wouldn't be the same without her. I encourage you to shop around as I did, but you can't go wrong with this group. They're great people and work wonders! read more
