Nothing has changed I see. Way back in 2007 I went here cuz they took Cornell's Dental plan…read more Dr. Kapur failed to properly remove the decay before applying the fillings. Just like so many others have experienced. I got fed up & demanded my deposit back for a root canal. They lied, hesitated, told me "refund is on it's way" & other stall tactics. Meanwhile I had to have another dentist repair her shitty work, costing me near $1500 out-of-pocket. After 7 months, they still refused to return my deposit...she could not fill 2 cavities properly, no way I was going to trust her with a root canal. Finally, I walked into the office & through "vivid imagery" explained to them it would be in our mutual best interest to return my deposit within 72 hrs. I had waited long enough & suffered due to her incompetency, not to mention the financial loss. Within one day I got a call from them informing me, "I could pick up a check for my full deposit or have them mail it to me". All I will say is, "Folk value their health over $". That was nearly 20 yrs ago! Yet I read she has not became any better of a dentist or person. So, please consider this -- they were bad then & still are just as bad. But if u think I'm lying, go & find out. Why am I doing a review now...cuz I'm looking for a new dentist (my beloved dentist after the horrible Dr. Kapur, sadly passed away recently) & while reading reviews for prospective new dentists I came across the reviews for Dr. Kapur & was amazed she is still destroying people's teeth nearly 20 years after she botched 2 simple fillings & caused me to wait 7 months for a menial $400 root canal deposit.

Been a customer here for years. The Dr. Is always very nice and does a great caring job…read more Appointments with the Dr. Are not to hard to get . however, As for cleaning teeth this portion of the staff is hard to keep. I just received a call canceling my Sept appointment that has been scheduled for a year ..now they say first app I can get is in March 2026 I very unhappy with this outcome but finding people who can and want to work is in a disaster for everyone. Hopefully I can get a call in on a earlier date

I just revived my Yelp account and added this business because I am THAT passionate about sharing…read morethis awesome resource with anybody looking for a dentist in the Ithaca area. I'm one of those people who's a little freaked out by dentists- I've avoided them, I've paid extra to go to "the best"- always been further freaked out, stressed out at the cost, and sorely disappointed. Years ago, I had facial surgery and screws are right near my teeth, so I've always been sensitive and would ask my dentists how that might affect procedures, etc. None of them had any idea or seemed to care whatsoever. Dr. Raggi was the first dentist to take his time in explaining to me how some of the symptoms I was having might be correlated, and how he would specifically factor this into his procedure and treatment plan. He was extremely thorough and happy to explain it all down to me- demystifying and making me far less freaked out than I have been for the first 30 years of my life. I appreciate that he came from a grounded, extremely knowledgeable and holistic framework, and didn't try to oversell whatsoever. The staff (Heidi) was really kind and wonderful too. Amazing resource in Ithaca!

I would like to start off by saying Dr. Omar was incredible…read more HOWEVER, the staff was very unhelpful, unprofessional, and unknowledgeable about how my insurance worked. I have an Excellus plan through the marketplace. They initially told me that I would receive a reimbursement check in 4-6 weeks... That time had passed so I called back and someone said they would get back to me later that day (no one ever did...). I waited another WEEK and had to call back again. When I spoke to a person this time they had trouble looking me up because the person initially taking down my information had it completely wrong... same birthday (month/day) but wrong year, same first name, but wrong last name, and the wrong street address (but the same street number...). Very odd and unprofessional - it seemed like they were trying to multitask or looking at information from two different sheets... It made enough sense to confirm it was me, but had SO MANY errors. Either way once that was resolved she said I would get a check for reimbursement withing a week. Another Week goes by and nothing so I call back AGAIN! And this time I find out that they cannot submit the claim because its through the state (I don't know how they missed that on my initial visit, but they did.) SO I had to call insurance and submit the claim on my own just to find out that Gorges dental was "out of network" - so now Im stuck paying "out of pocket". I WOULD AVOID THIS DENTIST AT ALL COST IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE THROUGH EXCELLUS, OR ANY PLAN THROUGH "THE STATE".

She sent me to have three teeth removed. While I was waiting for those sites to heal I lost the tip of another. I went in to have the tip repaired and she also did purely cosmetic fillings on the outside surface with the warning it might not last. She was right. It didn't. I paid over $800 for a gloss that fell out after two weeks. It's been a year now and the tip repair has fallen out, too. I had a partial plate with six teeth built for almost $2K. I can't wear it. It gives me a speech impediment. She said, "Oh, just read the newpaper outloud." There is so much plastic I can't find my alveolar ridge to form an l, n, d, or t. There is even plastic on the back surface of the upper front teeth, that I can't form an Italian l either. I'm a voice professional and must be able to perform in Italian, French, and English as well as demonstrate to my students. The only positives about the office are the delightful woman in the front office and the very healthy croton that gets morning sunshine through the window. Avoid at all costs. I have spoken with others who unanimously share my opinions, but they don't seem to register reviews here.

Approximately 95% of the times I have called the phone just rings and rings. There is also no functioning voicemail system, so leaving a message is not an option. Because the phone system appears broken, I highly recommend the office provide a public email address or portal so patients have a reliable way to communicate. It took my husband months to get an appointment because of this. He too loves the people and service.

my anxiety? generalized, chronic! dental anxiety? don't know her! and if i did, Dr. Joe would hook…read moreme up with the correct dose of something to knock the anxiety right out of me! we have a long and storied history, going back to when i was a pre-teen with a baaadd cavity. Dr. Joe pulled the tooth, recommended an orthodontist (Dr. Cacciotti, who is now retired) who he communicated with via regular coffee dates at Wegmans with throughout my dental journey. we decided to pull three more molars, then Dr. Cacciotti put my braces on, pulled my furthest molars back and gave me a dazzling smile in the end. Dr. Joe has got me through it with effortless grace and his shoes by the door (even though he does frequently ask if i'm adopted now). The thing with pulling the molars forward was apparently even written about in a dental journal! I'm a star, all because of Dr. Joe! Now, it hasn't been all sunshine and roses. i mean, it's still the dentist's office. people don't end up in the dentist office because something good has happened. i have shed tears in that parking lot as the cows stared me down. But these folks have the good taste not to bring up the time i (by now being an actual adult and having should have known better) smashed a tooth while riding my bike with my dog on a leash beside me. the dog had a great time but they eventually had to do a root canal and put a veneer on the tooth to make it the right size. This event is not ever mentioned in my presence, within guidelines of good taste! But even at my lowest, Dr. Joe's office got me though it. and once the dental emergencies that you hopefully never have more of are over, it just comes down to maintenance. after the braces and the molars and the bike, it's nice to just have an uneventful cleaning once in awhile. This office can do both! Besides my now completely average looking set of pearly whites, the testament of Dr. Joe's quality is his team. Alisha, Rachel and any of the dogs you might meet on your visit are always a joy to interact with. The cows on the lawn are the first sign you've found something special, but the cows are just the tip of the iceberg. I do wish they would reopen the waiting room post covid, but i understand wanting to keep the staff safe and adapting a business model to fit what works best. Thanks, Dr. Joe, Alisha and Rachel for keeping my smile dazzling!
