Well, let me tell you the experience with Dr. Kamp was a very positive experience. Everyone in the office was so nice and so caring. The hygienist was amazing and so informative. Dr. Kamp was kind and checked on me several times throughout my visit. He, in my opinion is one of the best dentists in Ithaca, NY. I highly recommend him! Unfortunately, with Integrative Oral Health, you have to apply through Medicare to recoup the money you pay for the visit. Unfortunately, Excelles won't reimburse the full amount. The dentist's receptionist will apply for the reimbursement on your behalf. We also apply ourselves because the forms didn't get through the system a few times. I have tried the other dentists listed by Excelles, and I was NOT happy with their service. One tried to pull out my bridge and said I needed a deep cleaning, which wasn't true. The other dentist called me the day before my appointment (that took months to get) and cancelled on me, saying the hygienist wouldn't be in that day!!! I was not very happy! I felt like I was on an assembly line with these dentists. I would definitely recommend Integrative Oral Health because they don't jerk you around, but treat you with respect.

This second review is to add that after they removed 3 lower molars they never told me that i wouldn't be able to chew correctly and that i would have needed a replacement tooth/teeth. She sent me to have three teeth removed. While I was waiting for those sites to heal I lost the tip of another. I went in to have the tip repaired and she also did purely cosmetic fillings on the outside surface with the warning it might not last. She was right. It didn't. I paid over $800 for a gloss that fell out after two weeks. It's been a year now and the tip repair has fallen out, too. I had a partial plate with six teeth built for almost $2K. I can't wear it. It gives me a speech impediment. She said, "Oh, just read the newpaper outloud." There is so much plastic I can't find my alveolar ridge to form an l, n, d, or t. There is even plastic on the back surface of the upper front teeth, that I can't form an Italian l either. I'm a voice professional and must be able to perform in Italian, French, and English as well as demonstrate to my students. The only positives about the office are the delightful woman in the front office and the very healthy croton that gets morning sunshine through the window. Avoid at all costs. I have spoken with others who unanimously share my opinions, but they don't seem to register reviews here.

Just like so many others have experienced. I got fed up & demanded my deposit back for a root canal. They lied, hesitated, told me "refund is on it's way" & other stall tactics. Meanwhile I had to have another dentist repair her shitty work, costing me near $1500 out-of-pocket. After 7 months, they still refused to return my deposit...she could not fill 2 cavities properly, no way I was going to trust her with a root canal. Finally, I walked into the office & through "vivid imagery" explained to them it would be in our mutual best interest to return my deposit within 72 hrs. I had waited long enough & suffered due to her incompetency, not to mention the financial loss. Within one day I got a call from them informing me, "I could pick up a check for my full deposit or have them mail it to me". All I will say is, "Folk value their health over $". That was nearly 20 yrs ago! Yet I read she has not became any better of a dentist or person. So, please consider this -- they were bad then & still are just as bad. But if u think I'm lying, go & find out. After painfully drilling and drilling on one tooth, I informed him that I would not be able to have the 2nd tooth worked on that day. Due to the pain I have not gone back since. The tooth that he drilled out now has a SERIOUS cavity in it, and the filling has fallen out. The other tooth, that he suggested needed the same care, is perfectly fine with no sign of a cavity at all and no pain. Do not go here unless you want your teeth ruined.

The care itself was fine, if ... excessive. they handed us a specialized electric toothbrush we never asked for, and charged us about a hundred dollars for it. Without telling us they would. Then, they charged us full price for their services- in advance. As in we paid 1200 bucks for something that should've cost 500, weeks before they did any work. Then when confronted, they elevated the issue to a manager who refused to perform any kind of refund over the phone. Which they absolutely could do, have a record of doing for other people, but falsely claimed they couldn't! We had to drive an hour to confront them at the office with insurance documentation proving they overcharged us... at which point they excuses and tried to schedule us for another appointment... which we'd already had done. By them. The previous week. We will not be returning.

I'm one of those people who's a little freaked out by dentists- I've avoided them, I've paid extra to go to "the best"- always been further freaked out, stressed out at the cost, and sorely disappointed. Years ago, I had facial surgery and screws are right near my teeth, so I've always been sensitive and would ask my dentists how that might affect procedures, etc. None of them had any idea or seemed to care whatsoever. Dr. Raggi was the first dentist to take his time in explaining to me how some of the symptoms I was having might be correlated, and how he would specifically factor this into his procedure and treatment plan. He was extremely thorough and happy to explain it all down to me- demystifying and making me far less freaked out than I have been for the first 30 years of my life. I appreciate that he came from a grounded, extremely knowledgeable and holistic framework, and didn't try to oversell whatsoever. The staff (Heidi) was really kind and wonderful too. I have an Excellus plan through the marketplace. They initially told me that I would receive a reimbursement check in 4-6 weeks... That time had passed so I called back and someone said they would get back to me later that day (no one ever did...). I waited another WEEK and had to call back again. When I spoke to a person this time they had trouble looking me up because the person initially taking down my information had it completely wrong... same birthday (month/day) but wrong year, same first name, but wrong last name, and the wrong street address (but the same street number...). Very odd and unprofessional - it seemed like they were trying to multitask or looking at information from two different sheets... It made enough sense to confirm it was me, but had SO MANY errors. Either way once that was resolved she said I would get a check for reimbursement withing a week. Another Week goes by and nothing so I call back AGAIN! And this time I find out that they cannot submit the claim because its through the state (I don't know how they missed that on my initial visit, but they did.) SO I had to call insurance and submit the claim on my own just to find out that Gorges dental was "out of network" - so now Im stuck paying "out of pocket". I WOULD AVOID THIS DENTIST AT ALL COST IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE THROUGH EXCELLUS, OR ANY PLAN THROUGH "THE STATE".
