Ki Lan has been expanding her certifications so she now is teaching classes in Yamuna Body Rolling in addition to Pilates. Think of Yamuna like a 2 hour massage that you give yourself. And then go to YouTube and watch a video. I appreciate KI Lan's hands-on approach to instructing, and the care she takes to watch my body move to be sure that I'm moving in the right way, instead of just counting out the number of reps. There's always something new to try depending on how I'm feeling or what my body is telling her that I'm not necessarily able to see or vocalize. We laugh, we share stories, I stretch and my glutes (among other muscles) get a great workout! I love/hate the bosu, which only means that I should do more work on/with it. Always professional, always looking to find a new way to help me reach my fitness/wellness goals, Ki Lan is tops for me when it comes to how I want to spend my time and my fitness budget.

Maybe the extra light in the studio helps, maybe it is their fantastic staff - from the door to the floor - but it all made me happy and feel more content with my day once I went. The instructors are amazing and so bada**, I wish I could have their endurance to talk and workout so hard at the same time! Having tried many other classes, no one has beaten my experience with them because they are so in tune with their clients and knowledgeable in helping you find the adjustments you need if you want them, which other places lack. When we decided the facility wasn't the right fit after the first lesson and tried to cancel, we were told we were locked into a three-month contract because we missed the cancellation deadline by one day. I attempted to cancel on April 30, but my email failed to send. As soon as I realized, I resent it first thing on May 1. There was no flexibility or grace despite the circumstances. There is also verbiage on the website to cancel by the 15th of the month, which we did. It is very confusing and misleading. The instructors themselves were wonderful with my daughter. Unfortunately, the management experience was the complete opposite. After disputing the charges, SwimQwik added a $500 "Complaint Administrative Fee" and a $100 Hold Fee to my account. The contract I signed does not disclose a fixed $500 complaint fee, yet one was added after I filed a complaint. The facility itself was also extremely disappointing for the price. The pools are very small, the decking is worn with damaged boards and gaps, and the entire facility feels tired and poorly maintained. The bathroom and changing area were honestly so dirty that I stopped using them altogether. I would wrap my daughter in a towel after her lesson and take her home to shower instead. There is no receptionist or on site staff besides the instructors who can't help with anything to do with your account, all correspondence has to go through email with the manager/owner who takes weeks to respond. After sharing my experience publicly, I was surprised by how many local parents reached out or commented saying they had experienced similar issues with billing, cancellations, or customer service. My advice to any parent is simple: read every word of the contract before signing, especially the cancellation terms. I wish I had. Between the confusing billing practices, poor customer service, and the condition of the facility, I would never recommend SwimQwik to another family.
