If you're looking for a place that offers high intensity fitness lessons while also having fun, then look no further! Love the high energy and positivity that every instructor brings to each class. In addition to these high intensity fitness workout sessions, they also offer choreography classes where you get to learn a dance routine with step by step guidance. They are so fun-filled and helps bring out the dancer in you, irrespective of the level and build muscle memory. Overall, I am super glad to have found this group and hope to continue my fitness/dance journey with them long term.

Let me preface this review with my dancers' background: I have 3 girls - aged 21, 18, & 13. My 21…read moreyear old started dancing at Backstage Dance Studio when she was 6 years old. My middle & youngest started taking ballet when they were 3 years old. Yes, we have been at Backstage Dance Studio for 15 years. My oldest was in the competition team for 9 years. My middle child is on her Senior year and last year in the competition team (started team when she was 9 yrs old). My youngest has been competing for 4 years. Unfortunately, this is our last year at Backstage since we are moving out of state. I am hoping to find a dance studio like Backstage, just as great, for my youngest. Why do we love Backstage Dance Studio? Why are we recommending it? In our 15 years at Backstage Dance Studio... 1. Very organized. We get our schedule months in advance (for competition team). If there are changes, it is normally due to something out of their control. 2. Responsive. My questions are always answered in a timely manner. 3. Teachers are great. There is a balance between compassion and strictness. Disciplining with respect. 4. Great environment. 5. Dance instruction is awesome for young dancers. 6. For the competition team... The owner/director of the studio expects a lot of her competitive dancers. If your dancer is lazy and doesn't do the work expected from a competitive dancer, then your dancer is kicked out of the team. Plain and simple. My girls know this. The competition contract states it. If you miss so many classes, you are kicked out. "Present day Adolf Hitler" is a stretched and a strong description of her, but she is strict. My girls have the utmost respect and LOVE for the owner. As a parent, who is spending thousands of dollars over 15 years, I expect the owner/director to discipline and follow-through the contract. If my girls are lazy, not putting in the work, and not taking the team seriously, I want them kicked out of the team by the owner/director. I expect it. And she is true to her word. But if you want your dancer to be treated like an entitled brat, you need to take her/him somewhere else. The owner/director of Backstage Dance Studio will not tolerate it. For the past 15 years, my experience at Backstage Dance Studio has been positive. My girls are thriving at school. I attributed their successes to their dance training at Backstage Dance Studio. It taught them time management, handling conflicts, respecting/following rules, and be a good person. Backstage Dance Studio is not just a dance studio. It is my girls second home. It's family. We will miss all the dancers, parents, & teachers. I hope this review helps. My girls highly recommend Backstage.

She seemed like she was going to be shy, but when I saw her preform last year, she was beaming! Dancing here and with the amazing staff has really helped her with her confidence, among other things. She started when she was 5. She does Triple threat and Debuts and loves all of her teachers. I was very impressed with the Triple threat program last year and the Debut program and been a great warm up to competitions if she decide to audition. During shows, or rehearsals or competitions, the staff has been beyond helpful with letting the parents watch the shows, and taking care of the young girls backstage. They have answered all of my questions in such a timely manner, no matter how silly the subject manner is or if they had actually already told me the answer and I missed it. They have always been polite, friendly and professional. I can't express enough how grateful I am to this studio for helping my daughter start an active and healthy hobby as well as gain some confidence! Backstage has truly helped her find a love for dance! I would highly recommend this studio!

Our experience with Summit Dance started out positive enough when our daughter was young, however…read moreover the years it digressed to the point we made the decision to pull our daughter out of Summit Dance altogether, the following are just a few of the reasons why: 1. Dance Material. The dance instructors are very nice, but the music and chorography was very poor and outdated. We were very disappointed and our daughter very embarrassed by the routine. In fact, she didn't even want to do the recital and when she did, she was one of the few that actually knew all the moves. When we saw the performance we felt bad for going through with it. 2. Payments. Read the fine print. If you don't cancel your child by a certain date, Summit Dance will continue to bill/auto withdraw funds for classes your child isn't even participating in come June. We usually are only in dance classes during the school year, however - Summit Dance seems to like to take advantage of busy families to make an extra $100 when you forget to cancel and they will not refund you. Just a friendly heads up! 3. Customer Service. During covid we understand social distancing was a huge issue and everyone must be respectful, but when you have 5 year old child who needs to use the restroom and the person at reception will not allow them to use the toilet while their other sibling is in class and no one else is around that seemed a bit much. However, even after covid - the behavior of the person at the font desk never improved. Not sure if she was sucking on lemons or what, but this person has zero business greeting or working with the public due to their nasty demeanor and sour attitude. Again, when we started we were super excited to be able to support this locally owned woman run business, but in the end we had to respect our child who clearly was unhappy here. When your 8 year old daughter expresses how embarrassing the music and chorography is, it's not worth putting up with the other aspects of a negative situation either. We transferred to Rhythm and Soul in Woodinville and our daughter has been thriving and excited about dance again.

From the moment our daughter joined, we have felt welcomed, supported, and truly part of a dance family. The teachers are incredibly talented, dedicated, and invested in helping each dancer grow--not only as a performer, but also as a person. What stands out most is the balance of high expectations and encouragement. The instructors push the dancers to work hard, improve their technique, and step outside their comfort zones while still creating a positive and nurturing environment where they feel confident and valued. Watching our daughter grow in confidence, discipline, artistry, and friendships has been such a gift. The amount of time, care, and passion the staff puts into every dancer does not go unnoticed.
