This is my go-to neighborhood bar every time I head back up to Northern California to visit family. Great staff, solid drinks, decent prices, and karaoke from Wed to Sat. Whenever we go, it's mainly an older crowd. I don't mind. The aunties and uncles who go are all solid. I usually befriend a ton of them, and we all dance on the dance floor. Divey, but there's a touch of (dated) class with the decor. Don't take this as a diss. I love it. It's super cozy and comfortable. We usually grab a couple of rounds, sing some songs, and then mosey our way down to Nations for some post-drinking grub. It's a perfect, chill night. Don't sleep on Mel-O-Dee! It's an El Cerrito staple, even as the city evolves due to gentrification.

Family at the bar for my bday.

Had family and friends come watch the football games with me for my bday. Multiple TV's to watch all the games. Cool owner (even tho he's a Raider fan) and the bar tender makes a MEAN DRINK!!! Was able to bring food in and my sisters brought a crock pot to warm up cheese for nachos or cheese fries for the whole bar. Very friendly place to go.

May! The sweetest bartender

This is one of the most famous neighborhood bars for the neighborhood of El Cerrito California. It's been around so many years and they take care of the customer and it's the best prices around and the greatest crowds for karaoke and friends.

Oh wow, this vintage watering hole is a major throwback deep into the last century when men in gray flannel suits and matching porkpie hats patronized their neighborhood bars to share their troubles with the bartender. If you saw any sitcom back between the Eisenhower and Reagan years, there was always a scene in a bar like this where the misunderstood husband plots with his best friend on how to get back at his wife for carelessly overspending their household budget. Jamie W. and I discovered this spot quite by accident after shopping at Trader Joe's. I have to admit I was intrigued by the retro sign and the fact that you can't see anything inside until you enter the side door where of course, the bouncer checks for your ID. Inside it was like something out of that sitcom with regulars talking over each other just a little too loudly as they were downing various well drinks. Jamie W. and I fit right in by ordering $8 Makers Marks and Ginger (photo: http://bit.ly/2L65uXH). They have a back room with red paisley wallpaper and quite an elaborate karaoke set-up. We have yet to make it for karaoke but give us time...and enough Makers Marks and Gingers. Mel-o-Dee...oh wait, I get it now. DRINKS - 4 stars...not watered down, thank goodness AMBIANCE - 4 stars...mid-century throwback, love it SERVICE - 3 stars...not sure I'd share my troubles with him but certainly friendly enough TOTAL - 4 stars...drop the mic RELATED - Looking for libations? The drinks are strong and reasonably priced. The staff is welcoming and nice. We had a great time singing karaoke for my friend's wedding after-party. While not in a typical place for a bar, this bar is top notch, and I can't wait to come back.

When the Tibetan community shows up, it is a party house with jamming music. It is a hit or miss when the Tibetan community shows up.

I was pretty hesitant about going to a karaoke bar in a strip mall, but Mel-O-Dee did not disappoint!

Note: cheaper with cash, bring cash if you can!…read more Jaguar Karaoke is a decent spot for karaoke in Berkeley. My party came for an hour of karaoke in one of their small rooms Saturday night around 7 pm and it wasn't crowded when we arrived. It's all street parking in this area. I got super lucky with a spot right in front of the store, but I'm guessing normally you have to park a couple blocks away and walk over. The prices are charged based on the number of people, the tiers are: *1 person *2-4 people *4-8 people *9+ people They use a Korean system with an on-screen search and a remote (also in Korean), but you can also ask them to switch it to Youtube. We chose Youtube as it was easier to use, but they only let us connect one phone to the wifi and Chromecast which was annoying. I ended up having to pass my phone around so everyone could add songs to the queue. I don't know if this is the case for every room, but the TV in our room was a little bit old and video quality wasn't the best. Also, the mic sounded a bit off, as there wasn't much echo even though I tried to adjust the echo setting knob an the machine. I've been to the sister Jaguar location in Oakland a couple times and had a much better experience both times there.

It's your basic karaoke box joint. Little run down, but does the job! You get a choice of either…read moreconnecting your phone to the tv and using youtube, or the ol' thick book and tablet. We chose the phone method, which might've been a mistake, bc it kept playing songs we didn't ask for. (We're olds and techno-dumb.) Probably best to bring your own booze from home. We pre-loaded at the bar upstairs, and bought some soju (grapefruit Jinro- like drinking syrup) and PBR from the front.

In my experience, the service they provide is just leading you to your room and handing you the tablet and mics, which all karaoke places have to do anyway... A review mentioned that they will give you a 5-minute reminder before your time is up, but that has not happened for me. The rooms are clean and the decor inside the rooms and throughout the whole lounge is definitely impressive. It's a good place to have a party and take photos, and maybe you're OK with paying a premium for the optics. There seems to be a lot of parties held here on the weekends. The karaoke system works well. They offer YouTube on a handheld tablet, and you can queue songs. This is the best karaoke setup in my opinion because (1) you can stay seated and don't have to walk over to a wall-mounted screen like at other places; (2) having YouTube means the song selection isn't limited to what the system has, and you can sing whatever language/genre you want; (3) the UI is super easy as we are all familiar with YouTube. I'm not a fan of spending precious time figuring out how to use a karaoke system and sometimes they can be confusing, so YouTube is the way to go here (assuming it lets you queue songs, and you can do that here). Overall I find the price a little excessive, but you can definitely have a good experience here.

Super expensive with terrible drinks that tasted nothing like how they normally should. Service was unbelievably slow, unprofessional, and it took two guys with nothing to do to make three unbelievably overpriced drinks in incredibly cheap plastic cups with ice that tasted like wood chips. While the ambiance and atmosphere of this place is pretty good, that's where it stops for the most part. The music selection system is not intuitive at all and god help you if you drink enough to enjoy yourself because you WILL NOT understand the system after a while. In good faith I can't rate this place very well and that's a shame because it does have the potential to be really cool; the biggest hurdle is the terrible device and assistance. If they put as much effort into the staff/service as they do the room layout and high drink prices it would be so much better. Because of how weird the staff vibe was my friends kept making jokes that this place must be made for money laundering lmao EDIT: HOLY SHIT down to one star from two; the final fees were insane. Not only did the staff purposely not notify us about going over time, but they charged additionally by the minute. $109 for less than two hours and that doesn't even include the $50 for the three absolutely terrible drinks. Even checkout was bad as the two staff kept looking at us like we're trying to steal something or leave without paying the bill. The entire vibe was awful on our way out as the staff mumbled at us and refused to make eye contact. Legitimately terrible at the end.

This pitcher of soda was around $20 Pitcher of water -free. They charged cleaning fee of 18% It was pricey but it was worth it because the area is safe and the place was clean. It was easy to operate their sound system, Walter the staff taught us. You have to prepare the songs you want to sing to enter to the karaoke sound system. Lots of parking and restaurants around the place. We didn't order food so I don't know about their food, but they only have snacks.
