My party came for an hour of karaoke in one of their small rooms Saturday night around 7 pm and it wasn't crowded when we arrived. It's all street parking in this area. I got super lucky with a spot right in front of the store, but I'm guessing normally you have to park a couple blocks away and walk over. The prices are charged based on the number of people, the tiers are: *1 person *2-4 people *4-8 people *9+ people They use a Korean system with an on-screen search and a remote (also in Korean), but you can also ask them to switch it to Youtube. We chose Youtube as it was easier to use, but they only let us connect one phone to the wifi and Chromecast which was annoying. I ended up having to pass my phone around so everyone could add songs to the queue. I don't know if this is the case for every room, but the TV in our room was a little bit old and video quality wasn't the best. Also, the mic sounded a bit off, as there wasn't much echo even though I tried to adjust the echo setting knob an the machine. It's your basic karaoke box joint. Little run down, but does the job! You get a choice of either connecting your phone to the tv and using youtube, or the ol' thick book and tablet. We chose the phone method, which might've been a mistake, bc it kept playing songs we didn't ask for. (We're olds and techno-dumb.) Probably best to bring your own booze from home. Only ding is that the interior feels pretty rundown -- they could use a facelift but maybe that means it would be more pricey? Jaguar is not the place to go if you want a fancy, expensive karaoke bar - but it's still one of my favorites. You can cast your phone to the screen so you never have to worry about relying on their music selection - and you can bring your own food and drinks (they also sell some at the front). The only service that you'll get is them checking on you 15 minutes or so before the end of your res - but I recommend keeping an eye on the time anyways. It's not the cleanest place, but I actually prefer it to some nicer spots in SF like Pandora. read more

Came here with my friends on a Monday night so it was empty! The owner was friendly and gave us a huge room. The room has two light settings (1 bright and 1 with flashing lights that gives an exciting atmosphere). You can connect your phone and Youtube to the TV and play songs directly. Only complaint is that the owner gave us 2 microphones when there were 4 of us. Currently, the rate is $30/hour cash or $35/hour credit for 2-4 people and $40/hour cash or $45/hour credit for 5-8 people. Also, the rate is proportional for the minutes you go over. read more

Enjoyed my time here! We had a group of 4 and had a smaller room. They charge 2-6 people (I forget what the upper # is) $29 per hour if paying cash and a higher rate if any other payment method so definitely remember to bring cash. They also charge by the minute (like 10/15/30 minutes) so if you are there for 2 hrs and 10 minutes, you won't be charged for 3 hours. I reserved a room the day of, and the man/owner was very accommodating. When I arrived late, he greeted me very well. Only thing to note is that he starts the time when we check in even though the time to set up the mics/etc was 10 minutes. The TVs have Chromecast so you can cast YouTube karaoke songs to the TV. This is great if you have songs in mind- so definitely have some songs prepared before coming. I didn't check out the catalog they had. The walls are not soundproof so we were able to hear other people sing when our songs weren't playing. This isn't really a negative since when we're playing our songs, we can only hear ourselves. I got the owner by phone and easily made a reservation. This was to be a surprise for my daughter because we both love karaoke but we really have a chance to do something by ourselves. When I got there I wasn't really sure what the experience was going to be I was surrounded by restaurants and lots of students because they're on the back door of u c Berkeley. It was very busy there that night. We followed the signs to a long set of steps that took you downstairs. I will mention now instead of later on in the article that if you're handicapped they do have an elevator in the back that will take you down there you do not have to go down these steps there are a lot of them. So what was different about this karaoke place for mothers. Well first of all when we got to the counter the gentleman who owned the place is extremely personable. Very happy and Lively greeted as pleasantly and it wasn't a business thing where he was just sort of winging it as we came up. I have a feeling that is always nice. And when I said my daughter and I are going to do karaoke he looked at me and said I wish my daughter would come here and do karaoke with me with a smile. We discussed rates and he showed us one of the rooms and it was satisfactory a fairly standard karaoke room. We grabbed a couple spritzers from the case and went back he showed us how to use the tablet to call for our songs and you have to pay attention because most everything there I think was set up in Korea but it's easy to get through the menu. Plus you have a book you just put in the numbers of the songs that you want and start plugging them in and say and your songs. The best part of karaoke is being with people that you care about spending time doing something that you love to do and enjoying your evening with an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage while you do it. And I could tell by the songs that were coming out of the other rooms down the hallway that everybody was doing what we were doing... Sharing the love. We were so happy to have that time together and sing our favorite songs and we could tell that everybody down the hall was doing the same thing. What's this place Hi-Tech or glitzy. I didn't see anything that made it seem like it was over-the-top it was comfortable it was clean I noticed that they were following the rules of covid and the selection of songs seemed a little bit less than I have seen another places but you had the option of YouTube which would give you anything that you wanted. Did we have fun we had a great time and we went in for one hour and left after 2. Looking for something to do during the evening try this it was so much fun. I would absolutely love to come back and do this with her again and bring my wife too. And maybe next time that gentleman be here with his daughter. I told him that I thought our experience was really nice but he told me that his manager was even nicer. How is that possible. Had a LOT of fun with my coworkers as part of a farewell celebration! Brought food and some drinks. The person who helped us was very helpful and I felt he was looking out for us! I really liked him. The general state of the establishment, except the karaoke seating and table (which were clean), was not great. When I looked up in our room, I saw caked on dust clinging to equipment above us. Reminded me of what happens when food grease attracts dust over time. And, the bathroom, which was cleaned as we arrived, did not seem very clean when I used it at the start, and smelled strongly of urine at the end of our visit a couple of hours later. Parking was a BIG challenge, so plan ahead. Luckily, there are parking places within a block or three, but makes bring your own food a challenge. The location is a little challenging as it's downstairs. Had to ask a worker nearby where it was. It is not friendly for people who have trouble with stairs. I would have liked to have seen the prices and description of food/drink availability online, but contacted the number on Yelp, and was sent the information. I always have a good time at Jaguar and glad it survived the pandemic. The place could use an update but I get it, I can't imagine how a karaoke place stayed afloat during with COVID. They didn't check vaccine cards but staff are wearing masks. You're in a private room so as long as you're comfortable with your group then you're fine. Called to make a reservation. The owner picked up right away and was very friendly. They will text you a few hours before your reservation time to confirm your group size and time. The song book could use an update but they still have a great selection of the classics. Rooms come with two mics and a tamborine. Don't underestimate the tamborine. Makes every song 10 times more fun and funny. I remember being able to order Soju back in the day but we just came from dinner so we didn't ask. They do have some drinks in the front. You can pay with card, cash or Venmo. Small discount if paying with cash or Venmo. Five stars mostly for nostalgia and to support a local spot. This place is also extremely affordable for the big rooms when you split it with a bunch of your friends. I wish they deserved more drinks than their overpriced Soju though. And overall the ambiance was okay. But I'd 100% recommend and come back for a fun night out singing with my friends, especially if it's a large group! read more

Nothing test your singing skills like being around a bunch people who actually know what they are doing. On this fine Sunday night we had a small crowd of ladies ready to hit the big time with some ol school 80/90's R&B and 2000's pop classics. Jaguar karoke has a pretty good sound system going in each room and the ablity to cast songs from Youtube, if you cant find what you wanna sing from thier song catalog. I had a great time here with friends a few days ago. :D The guy working the front was very nice and friendly on the phone when I was making a reservation and gave great service and warm welcome when we came in and showed us how everything worked and got us set up! For 4 people for 2 hours on a Thursday Night it was 75$ so like around 18$ a person. I'd say definitely worth it and I'll be back. You can bring your own food and drinks, (no alcohol) just be sure to clean up after yourself. Minor things would maybe to be to update the furniture, it looks a little worn down, but really we were having too much fun to mind And you can hear other people from other rooms singing if you go out of your own personal room, but it doesn't really make a difference because you can't hear other groups while you're singing read more

Loads of fun and very convenient since it's located right next to asian ghetto! Karaoke: I came with a group of 13 people and I believe if you have 13 people or more, you pay by how many people there are and not by hour. They have a decent book list of songs but not the most updated. Also, my group couldn't find the skip song button in the remote and we accidentally canceled everything many times. Rooms are based on group size and I highly recommend calling in advance to reserve. Loads of fun but remember to turn on the fan because the room gets warm fast. Maybe one of the most outdated karaoke location I have been to. Usually the song selections are made on a digital screen that is linked to the projector but it is not the case here. They give you this giant book of songs where you have to punch it into a calculator remote sort of thing that links to the TV screen. In addition, most of these songs are extremely old, think "24 karat" as the newest song by far. Also, looking through everything is quite a hassle. The location also isn't exactly great as it is on a lower level where there a lot of people in front of it doing weed and alcohol. Also, it is pretty expensive because after an hour of singing, they start charging it by the minute. Would not recommend due to its insecure location and outdated systems. read more

This is a pretty nice karaoke place. It's affordable and there are a variety of songs to choose from. The service is really nice and will help you if you have any problems. I read many yelp reviews saying that the microphones are bad, but you can ask the front desk person to give you better microphones or to turn up the volume of the microphones. My only complaint is that there aren't many recent songs on the karaoke machine. I also wish that there were more vocaloid and anime songs. However, to solve this problem, you can ask the front desk guy to hook up the karaoke to YouTube so you can find the songs you want. Another problem that some people have is that the walls are thin and you can hear other rooms, but it didn't bother me that much. My friends and I had a lot of fun at this place. read more

Karaoke...the perfect way to start the night? Or end the night? There are a variety of rooms available depending on your party size. When I came here with a group of 3 others, we were placed in a room that was clean and furniture was in good shape. The disco/party lights sync to the music which is pretty cool. Our small room was not only equipped with the standard selection of karaoke songs, but we could also use Chromecast to chose songs off of YouTube to sing. It was awesome! When I came with a group of 14, we were place in a spacious room with furniture that had seen and experienced a lot, but that's to be expected from a karaoke place. This room, unfortunately, did not have Chromecast. Because of our group size, one hour was around $75. The owner is super nice, friendly, and very easy to talk to. Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks can be purchased at the front desk. We were allowed to bring in alcoholic drinks from outside. read more

We always have the funnest times here! It's very conveniently located; close to campus and easy to walk to if you live in downtown Berkeley. They have a large number of private rooms and a great selection of songs. They don't have the newest songs, but this was not a problem for us. We always find classics! The space or rooms aren't the nicest, but seeing as we usually end up here after a night of drinking we don't mind. What happens when you get a huge group of (mostly) Asian friends together? Karaoke of course!! It was quite easy to call ahead the day before to reserve a large room for my party of 9. Since everyone was on winter break, the venue was fairly empty and we were only 1 of 2 parties this past Saturday night. This works out since the rooms aren't exactly sound-proof and we could sing as loud as we wanted to. "My heart will go ooooooonnnnn!" MUSIC SELECTION was fairly diverse. There are separate books for English and Asian songs. For the English ones, they have the 90s hits (Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Britney) and the classics (Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, etc.). And they even had a fair selection of more recent Top 40 hits, from Lady Gaga to LMFAO. Staff was helpful in explaining how to use the remote control and fix the volume settings for us. The mic and sound system were so-so, but we all had a great time anyways. Perks: + You can bring in outside food and drinks (not sure about alcohol) + Flexible with reservations; we arrived 20 mins early and they still accommodated us + Website listed $45/hr for a large room but they only charged $40/hr. And they also technically charge per MINUTE, so you can be more lenient about when to leave. Things to note: - They don't have a liquor license or bar. I suggest going to Kip's, Henry's, or Thalassa beforehand if you want to grab drinks with friends - They have no official music videos. Be prepared to sing to random clips of Korean dramas and wildlife nature videos Overall, this was a fun activity for a large group of people near campus. I've been looking for a good karaoke spot for ages. Who knew I would be happiest with a place right under my nose? Jaguar's location is perfect for college kids -- right across from the Asian Ghetto food court on Durant! We came here around 11:30pm on a Saturday night and didn't even have to wait for a room, which was a pleasant surprise. They had a great selection of songs, so all the "classics" we looked for (Bohemian Rhapsody, I Want It That Way, A Whole New World) were there... as well as some of the more recent songs by Lady Gaga, Maroon 5, etc. Like many Asian karaoke places, prepare for the contrast of a Metallica song with extremely Asian videos, e.g. Korean girls in floppy hats strolling along the beach. If you're interested in the Asian songs, they have a separate book for them. Charging is by the hour, but it's prorated so if you go into the next hour, they don't charge you another entire hour. I did NOT get wireless mics. They're pretty chill. Had a good time, had a good selection of songs. The room was mildy dirty, though. What I liked: They had a little map of the buttons so non-korean speaking people can know how to skip, save and cancel songs.
