I then called and the person that picked up the phone sent the call to the owner, he made every excuse in the book and refused to fix my order, this has happened before but I figured I would give him another shot, I spend slot of money there but this guy will never admit it his employees he always blamed it on the customer!! Got take out from here on a Friday night...25 minute wait to pick up (which is great for a weekend night in my opinion). I ordered the sesame chicken combo which comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll. It was okay but not great. The rice seemed dry while the egg roll was greasy. The chicken itself was decent but the sauce wasn't as tasty/sticky as expected. They automatically lose a star for using packaged duck sauce instead of making it! I think I will have to try different menu items next time and update this review. read more

It's been a few weeks since I ordered takeout from MeiKing & the first thing I noticed was the prices. Not too over the top, but definitely noticeable. I got crab rangoon (4), beef chow mein (3) & shrimp pad Thai (5). I didn't care as much for the chow mein as in the past. The beef was tender & tasty, but not nearly as much as in the past. Also, whatever they used to darken & thicken up the gravy totally changed the flavor of the dish & not in a good way, imo. I grew up eating at Mei king. I have always been faithful but tonight I learned they changed their packaging. How this constitutes a large is beyond me because it's obvious by weight and sight that we are paying the same for less food without any notice or warning. Waiting too long to be seated, too long for the waitress to take the order, too long to get chop sticks, too long to get a water refill, was given ketchup instead of duck sauce under low lighting conditions, so my rice was mistakenly doused with ketchup. The waiter said he was going to replace the rice, he forgot as no rice ever came. Wanted a spoon, never had the opportunity to ask as it was already a struggle getting anything to my table. As the waitress was struggling with phone orders my check never came, I had to bring my check to the checkout counter. And with all this, the food was ok, but only ok. I have been a fan of Mei King for a few years now. What I have ordered has been consistently delicious. So now, I will start my review. On Mother's Day, I ordered two chicken chow mein combination plates, two extra egg rolls, and beef teriyaki sticks. All that just under $30. I had my food delivered. The delivery was on time. Now, you must be asking how was it? The food was delicious. Their combination plates could feed a small army. Me and my mom had enough left over for another meal, now that is a bargain!! The chow mein was piping hot and not watery like another place was. Their pork fried rice was great. Their egg rolls were awesome, not mostly veggies and very little meat. These guys had a good balance of meat and veggies. Their beef teriyaki sticks were good. To be honest, how can you mess them up? On second thought, what I don't know, doesn't bother me. Overall, Mei King is a very good Chinese restaurant in Pawtucket. If going to a ball game, check it out. Or if anyone has a hankering for Chinese, go there!! You won't be disappointed!! read more

My favorite Chinese food item is Crab Rangoon's, and you usually can't go wrong when you get them.... except for here. There was hardly any filling in them. The flavor was good, they were just stingy with the filling. If you believe in "less is more", then these might be for you. But you're practically just eating a fried wonton wrapper. I also got the chicken lo mein, and it didn't have a lot of flavor. Every part of the lo mein just tasted like vegetables and it looks like they use linguine for the noodles so it was kinda weird. The noodles just felt soggy to me, like they were boiled too long. Their pork fried rice and egg rolls were good though. The duck sauce was good too. It just wasn't worth the money for me. read more

We love this restaurant. Great food. Usually prompt delivery. Orders have never been wrong...substitutions not usually a problem...except one tiny thing. We ask for extra hot mustard packets EVERY time and NEVER get them. Duck or soy sauce a truck load... mustard packets stingy. We've asked several ways to try to get the point across and even called to get more(they delivered soy and duck but hardly any mustard)we also walked down to a closer restaurant to get more. Seems silly because we love the food so much. We will keep ordering from them over and over again but we want more than 3 mustards (literally) when we ask for extra packets. We would even pay or trade for them if necessary. We don't use the duck or soy. Seriously the food is awesome. Substituting no problem, packets a mystery. Still four stars. read more

So the old Mei King was amazing it was delicious. When this new owner bought Mei King off the best mei king (ya follow), it was horrible. I vowed to not return. After talking with some friends I heard he changed so I retired them. Ever since that day we talked to the owners about how the last mei king was and how loved it was he began to listen change and no I dont want any other Chinese restaurant. I order from them often. I've never had an issue with the food. One of the best fried rice around. It's dark just like i like it. I hate chinese places who serve yellow fried rice. Okay, I really have to warn everyone about this place. I was sick at home so I decided to get a quick chinese take out. I found this place on Yelp and I drove by a few times. I ordered hot and sour soup and some crab rangoons. I don't understand why they don't want to spend any time pre-made hot and sour soup. I'm sure a lot of people order this everyday. Instead what I got was clearly an egg drop soup that has been added spice (tons of black pepper) and some vinegar to make it sour. I couldn't even eat it. It was way too sour. The crab rangoons were dry and lack of cream cheese. (kinda on the cheap side). My expectation were low since it is a quick take out place, but this place is way below my expectation. We ordered from here tonight for our "takeout night treat", it was a nightmare. First it was an hour from order to delivery (I can understand this as it is a Friday but beware it takes a while and I'm right around the corner.) I ordered the house Pad tai (House = shrimp, pork, chicken and ham) my fiancé ordered a combo plate which was supposed to be Beef Chow Mein, pork fried rice and an egg roll ($29.00) but Beef Chop Suey came instead (big difference seeing he spent 10 minutes picking out the vegetables he hated), and Crab Rangoon's. In addition to my fiancé getting the wrong meal and only 3 oz of beef, my Pad tai was a HUGE disappointment. It was an odd ratio of 1 strip of chicken, 4 strips of pork, 3 baby shrimp and what looked like pieces of ham and/or hot dog pieces, %5 noodle and %90 sprouts, now I know it wasn't hot dog, and by tasting it well it all tasted the same plus an odd consistency of crunchy sprouts (really needed that lime). We try to find the bright side and look towards the Egg Roll and Crab Rangoon's, well....the crab Rangoon's were either under cooked or empty...yup I said it empty, seemed the filling was there at one time but poof gone no filling...the egg roll was ok, big chunks of chewy celery with small pieces of meat, then on the end of the egg roll which in a perfect world would be light crunchy, golden not here this was hard and even edible. I will say I called to let them know of the issue and the owner, being warned how upset I was, came to the phone to hear me out, and even offered to send new food but by the time it would arrive we were looking at 10pm. So that wasn't going to work for us... We are really disappointed. I'd say take pass if your looking for a place for delivery. read more

I didn't even want to add a star for this restaurant. My husband and I live down the street from this place and the parking lot always seems decently filled. So we ordered our food, we order the lo mein and a few other things, but the lo mein was the only thing we tasted. It was the worse food I had ever put in to my mouth and normally we would have just thrown it out but it was so bad we had to let them know. My husband decided to bring back the food and let them know that it was horrible, they apologized and offered to make something else but I wouldn't want to eat anything else that came out of their kitchen. This place has the BEST lo mein I have ever tried. Their rice isn't just your plain fried rice with a couple pieces of onions here and there with sparse meat, NO! Their rice is loaded with tons of yummies And the boneless spare ribs has no fat, it's all meat. General tso was very also good. The chicken was not mushy like other places it was crunchy !
