I don't know why locals give Meg's such high ratings, but a 4.8 average score is grossly out of proportion! The old-timely atmosphere, memorabilia, charming little gift shop area, and local town history decorating its walls made this a fun stop along Highway 70. But the food is incredibly mediocre. The breakfast sandwich contained what tasted like cheap lunch meat from a grocery store, served on an average English muffin with some decent scrambled eggs being the only bright spot. The potatoes with bacon were more like frozen potato chunks reheated and mixed with bacon bits from a supermarket. I was wholly unimpressed. read more

Enjoyed a mother son lunch at this fabulous hidden gem! We both had the miniApache burger. This an all beef patty with fresh fixin's on Indian fry bread! Yes fry bread! Absolutely genius and so tasty with lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, pickles and green chili! So good! The french fries are the seasoned type and crispy outside and cooked to perfection! Order at the counter when you come in. The service was quick and friendly. The interior is decorated nicely and has an interesting history wall. Megs Place is a staple in the Gila Valley. It's in the middle of a tiny town right off of the highway. If you're in need of a quick bite, friendly smile or just need to stretch your legs then you should stop by. Their cinnamon rolls are my favorite. They have a good menu and snacks galore. read more

On our way back from Safford we at Megs's Place for breakfast. Fortunately they had stopped serving breakfast and I was able to try their green chile burro. The burro is huge and I didn't think I was going to be able to finish it. But it was so delicious that I ate it all. The green chile, flavorful, the cheese melt perfectly, and the tortilla was homemade which made the burro extra amazing. I also ordered fry bread with honey which also was delicious. The restaurant is really cute and has great decor. There's some pictures which explain the history. There is also a small gift shop. After driving east from Prescott Valley, and having to unfortunately follow a detour south to Winkleman and back north to Globe, we finally reached Fort Thomas for at late lunch at Meg's Place. We both ordered Indian tacos (fry bread filled with beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and meat). They were very good. We took 2 homemade oatmeal cookies with us for dessert. They were also good. Service was excellent. There was an antique Model F car inside and a wall of pictures from Fort Thomas' past. Interesting. read more

Ordered chicken tenders and fries and the fries were the only edible thing. The chicken came out burnt and tasted burnt. Went to the counter and talked to the cook about getting it redone and was told that they have to cook it at 165 degrees and they always come out like that and that they get a lot of complaints about it the chicken tenders coming out that way. They would not refund me my money. Will not be coming back here again nor will I be recommending this place. Bad customer service. Picture does not do it justice on how black the chicken was. Thanks Waze for taking me on this route. It was getting late and I saw the sign so time to stop and get something to eat. The inside is supper clean and split with convenience gift store on one side and restaurant on the other. I loved the wood tables. So now the menu was great and I was excited to see the Indian tacos with green chilies. Well let me say that I move six months ago to kentucky and I have never been so happy to have real green chilie again. The taco was huge and delicious. And I will say the price was cheap compared to what you get. Everything was fresh. I did end up getting a plane one with honey and powder sugar to go along with a pecan cinnamon roll. Both were fantastic. It would be worth the toad trip to go and visit them. read more

A large spotless restaurant with the nicest people taking your orders and preparing your food. This is a pretty small town and you can tell locals are prevalent in the dining room. Always a good sign. We had a green chile burrito (huge) and a green chile and been Indian fry bread (even bigger). Food was delicious but don't miss the bakery. We got some fantastic cookies. But wait! They also have the best homemade beef jerky I have found in Arizona and New Mexico. Thin and perfectly spiced and dried. I wish I bought more! read more

We were moving my daughter home from EAC, and we HAD to stop here. This cafe is nothing you would expect to see and taste on a lonely road in rural Arizona. The inside decor is cozy and clean, and celebrates the local heritage and it's past. The food is something I would expect only to find in a gourmet kitchen (and for at least twice the price). I knew the baked goods are amazing, but I'd never tried anything from the cafe. Just as crazy good! I had the BLT. It's seriously the best one I've ever had. In addition, the fries were perfect and the fry bread was just right. I made the "mistake" of going to the bakery counter alone after lunch. I came back with a bag full of goodies. The cinnamon roll was lights out. Moist, gooey, and smothered in that famous frosting. I also loved the hot chocolate cupcake and the gingerbread (we came just before Christmas). Meg's Place is a national treasure and a must-do for every serious foodie road warrior. I will find a reason to come back. read more

We have finally made it to Megs Place. Why have we not done this before!!! We knew it was here. Passed it many times on our way out of town headed for the city. Who thought this little gem was really here in Ft. Thomas, Az? In a blink of an eye, we passed it and never knew it. Well we know know! Yes like n many travel/cooking shows, pay attention, look around, because Meg's is a great place. Really! We took some friends out to dinner and decide to finally go out of town. There were 4 of us and no complaints. I had the Keens Burger; my husband, the Apache Burger (2 hamburger patties folded taco style in Indian Fry Bread, more than he could eat); friends (she) had a Crispy Chicken Wrap (huge) and (he) had BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich with Mac & Cheese, we all shared fried pickles and fried onion strips. Soda fountain drinks and iced tea any size $1-really! Oh my everything made from scratch and oh so yummy. The cookies to die for. Each recipe named after the person's recipe. Cupcakes and cinnamon rolls look amazing. Oh there's ice cream too. If you don't have time to stop for a meal they have a nice little convenience store for something to just quickly grab. They are open at 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM for breakfast, that's what we'd like to try next. They close at 7:00 PM so don't miss out. Thank you staff you are all great. We will be back. read more

My family and I are visiting from PA & we were looking for a breakfast place before starting our 6 hour drive to the Grand Canyon. Meg's place was so so amazing. They only serve breakfast until 10am, but they were very willing to make breakfast even tho we showed up around 10:15am. The food was very yummy & the service was amazing. They even gave us cinnabon's to go & would not let us leave with out taking them. I highly highly recommend taking time out of your day to go to Megs place! read more

If I could give this restaurant more stars, I'd rate it at a 1000 out of 10 haha. I moved about a month ago from Las Vegas, and EVERYONE has been telling me I needed to get to Meg's place. I finally convinced my boyfriend to take me tonight (it's a bit out of the way but worth it for a date night!) and I absolutely fell in love. So much so that I downloaded the yelp app for the first time JUST to come and rave about this beautiful restaurant. I normally get social anxiety at restaurants and feel like I'm being watched, but the atmosphere at Meg's place is so bright, open, and sweetly old fashioned, that I walked in and immediately felt safe. I felt the exact same way as I always do walking into my grandma's house--not an everyday view, but comfortingly familiar. I felt like I'd been going to Meg's place all my life. I absolutely adore the little shop on the side and the handcrafted gems waiting to be discovered there. My boyfriend was teasing me that I'd make the drive just to shop--and between that and the lovely baked goods on display, I just might! I felt right at home and was so excited with each new thing I discovered even before we got our food. And oh, the food! The prices are fair. I was happy with the cost upfront and expected the usual restaurant portions, but got more food than I thought! They have great sized plates for what you pay and I was so impressed at the affordability. I was comfortably full when we left but didn't feel like I had surplus to try and find a box for. It was just the right amount of food! And of course it was all SO DELICIOUS!! I didn't want to leave. I finished eating and my boyfriend asked if I was ready to go, and I was like "NO!" Haha. I just enjoyed being there so much. And there wasn't any pressure to leave (until they started closing up haha but even then they didn't push us out like some places do). This is now, without a shadow of a doubt, my absolute favorite place to come eat. I will be back as often as I can justify the drive from Pima (just under an hour round trip).
