If I could give zero stars, I would. My elderly father reached out to Furr for a service contract for the A/C unit in his mobile home. They sent a technician who took a quick look and said the unit was in good working condition--but then claimed the thermostat needed to be replaced. The kicker? He only offered one replacement option, priced at a staggering $700. When my dad hesitated, the technician said he had to "check on something at another address" and would come back later to give my father time to think. In reality, he just went and sat in his van for 20 minutes before returning to pressure my dad again. This entire interaction felt like a blatant attempt to take advantage of a senior citizen. It's predatory, manipulative, and completely unacceptable. Shame on this technician and shame on Furr for allowing such unethical behavior. I made an appointment for their free estimate, and the technician arrived on time. What followed, however, was close to unbelievable. I needed to have two toilet tanks rebuilt. I was quoted a price of $500 EACH. I casually mentioned replacing the wax seal as well and was quoted an additional $500 each, for total of more than $2000! I was then high pressured about purchasing their so-called preferred customer plan for an additional $200, which would give me a 15% discount on their over-inflated prices in addition to some other benefits that made little sense to me. Needless to say, I sent him on his way, which he clearly was not happy about. I contacted another plumber who rebuilt both toilets, replaced the wax seals PLUS the flanges, all for $400. He arrived on time, did an excellent job, and will be the only plumber I call in future. Do not fall for F.H. Furr's hype and high-pressure tactics! read more

I have been using GoldStar for 10+ years for maintenance for the HVAC purchased from them in 2016 - they always showed up on time and did a great job. I have since moved from that house and chose to keep FH Furr (formerly GoldStar) for HVAC maintenance; I purchased their yearly maintenance plan in Jan2025 and scheduled maintenance in June2025 (I also requested a particular technician who had done great work on the old system). The first visit was cancelled by them (delay at an earlier job) and so was rescheduled several days later; that visit was also delayed and when the tech texted that they were on the way (outside of the 4 hour window), it was the wrong person, so I called and cancelled this appointment, then rescheduled and once again requested "my" tech. The day of, I once again received the "delayed" text and then a text from the "wrong" tech that he was on his way, so I called and cancelled and requested my money back (I was told that requesting a particular tech was not a guarantee; if they needed him for other work, they would take him from my job). Do not recommend FH Furr since the switch from GoldStar - very disappointed in their scheduling capabilities. read more

My parents' upstairs AC wasn't working and on July 3rd, a sales rep came out and gave them the most outrageous quote to replace their whole system. $15,000 with a "Discount" to bring it down to $12,000. I called a couple of places, and an HONEST competitor was prompt in returning my call, was able to go to mom and dad's house the same day. He looked at the system, determined what was the problem, fixed it, and provided a recommendation for "in the future when it does go bad" and didn't charge a dime. He said that he provides free estimates and the 5 minutes it took to address what was wrong was easy and would not charge them. The outside system may need replacing soon with a new copper wire - the estimate being $4k... NOT $12k! Another competitor called me back and they quoted $6500 for a whole new system being equivalent to what Megee proposed...NOT $12k. Call and use Anyone but Megee! Dishonest scam artists! read more

$2500 to replace 3 bathroom sink faucets that I furnished . After this shock and the tech left I looked on line for various component costs. Megee charged $314 for pop-up sink drain and I needed 3 !. Amazon has same metal part for $23. Megee charge $82 for braided stainless riser lines. Amazon has same product for $13. Tech wanted to replace all 6 stop water valves under the sink for $140 each. I declined thankfully. Amazon has these brass metal valves $10 each. Total for 3 hours labor was $375 per hour ! Tech appears to work on commission due to constant up selling attempts . Buyer beware. I've never felt so ripped off in my life and I'm 71 years old ! read more

Be aware of this if you are really in a jam. The response time for a tech to come for the initial call is really good. My beef is that when parts are needed, these guys go in extreme slow motion. On two occasions, days or weeks went by waiting for parts, then a return visit to install them and finally fix the original problem. There does not seem to be ANY urgency by McGee to fix the problem. Story 1: Rannai hot water heater needed a control transformer. Six weeks later, still no hot water. Calls to them stated "still waiting for part". NEVER a call FROM them. I finally bought a generic transformer from Amazon and fixed it myself. Why couldn't they do that? Story 2: Home heat not working. Two techs always come. they determined the control board was bad. We wouldn't have heat for several days while they waited for the control board to be ordered and return to install it. The techs said the office would call us with an update on the estimated part arrival date. Hours later, I had called a local supply house (RE Michal), bought and picked up the control board and fixed it myself. Again, why couldn't they do that, especially with two techs on the job? They would be better off emphasizing "get the customer going asap" rather than buying only OEM parts, only from the manufacturer. This could result in getting the customer going the same day instead of in a week or two. Be aware of this if you use them for emergency repairs. read more

Do NOT sign a contract with these people! I signed one when I first moved here and then the sold out shortly after. They are supposed to come twice a year to check AC then to check furnace. Since no one had called me from their office to see if I wanted it serviced, I finally remembered to call them today on 11/15/23. They cannot come and do a furnace check until the END of January. Then apparently they have to know how old my furnace is to determine which employee can service it. I have never heard any company ask me that so I have to assume they have a lot of untrained employeees. What happens if you have an emergency? I'm afraid to ask how long that will take. Scheduled service a month in advance fora saturday to shut down our plumbing for the winter. The plumber called on the Friday before to say he was on his way. We told him that the service was scheduled for Saturday. He said he would inform the office. We got no call or confirmation. It took several calls to the central office to discover that they don't work on Saturday. We used to use them and they were ok but apparently they got bought out by a larger company. Under the new management, you are forced to purchase all three of their maintenance agreements, electric, plumbing, and AC and heating. To have a tankless water heater flush which takes 30 minutes with 1 gallon of vinegar they want to charge you $550. Unfortunately I'm handicap and I can't do it myself. I had some electrical floodlights put on the outside of the house. I watch the two technicians, install the lights upside down. I brought it to the attention. They argued with me about it. I was right the next day they had to come back and reverse the lights. During this process, one of the technicians lay a ladder against a drain pipe bending it they said they would come back the next day to repair it and never return . I called the office and the maintenance supervisor yelled at me as if it was my fault, you would be foolish to do business with this company . read more

Total scam. Beware. We called to have an outdoor sink and faucet installed. The plumbing and drain lines were already run to the sink by our builder, so we just needed it all hooked up to the actual faucet. We were quoted $300 to $400 over the phone, which seemed reasonable. They arrived three hours late and told us that they wouldn't be able to install the sink because the builder did not put the drain pipe low enough. I did some quick online research and consulted the builder, who said there was plenty of room and it should work. When I questioned the Megee plumber as he was about to pull away, he suddenly changed his mind and said it would be possible. He then worked up a quote and said it would cost $1400! Yes, $1400. To install a drain and faucet. When I asked how that was possible, he replied, "Well, things have gotten expensive." This was a total bait-and-switch scam. We told him to leave, but we'd already paid the $97 trip fee. UPDATE: We contacted Megee, and stand by our review. The supervisor, who was rather arrogant, told us their quote system indeed says it costs $1400 to install a faucet and drain (to existing plumbing). He said they are no longer a small mom-and-pop operator and that's what they charge. They also made it clear they do not give prices out over the phone. So, don't waste your time having them come out for a quote since they'll just rip you off. And they won't refund us the $97 trip charge even though they showed up three hours late and tried to rob us with an insane quote. We went ahead and got a quote from our builder's plumber. The total bill was $400. We also got a quote from another plumber for $700 (my partner made the mistake of telling them we'd already gotten a $1400 quote, so perhaps this one was high too). So I'm confident the $1400 quote is a complete and utter ripoff. I have no idea how Megee can have such good reviews, but perhaps they've gotten too big for their britches. Megee Plumbing and Heating - the card says in Red Letters - 24/7 EMERGENCY SERVICE. There fancy van says: 24/7 EMERGENCY SERVICE. My husband and I had an emergency= no heat. We called and we got the answering service (this was on a Sunday). We waited and waited. Nothing. we called again. Waited again. They finally called back. The tech said he didn't want to come and that it would cost $149.00. We knew that. Hubby said please come out. Again, he said he didn't want to come. Well, send someone who does. It is suppose to be freezing that night and it was. No phone call nothing. We are senior citizens and we were COLD! They should be sued for FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! Called them out to replace 2 shower drains. They cost the job at $700. We went out the next day and bought the parts, $40. When I confronted them, the confessed to be very expensive due to how much over head they have over most other small companies. Our Heat Pump under warranty was over charged by 1.5 pounds and had to be bled off. They screwed around wanted me to change filters which I did. They wanted to borrow my ladder which I allowed. They then charged $400 dollars without providing an estimate without providing an itemized bill and demanded the money COD. Complaining met with the biggest A-hole supposed supervisor who said, "Its fixed ain't it, thats how much it cost. DO NOT USE these people you will be asking to be ripped off. My husband and I have been customers of Megee for many years and I have always meant to write a review for them but never seemed to get to it. We have a service contract with them and as such, technicians come out every Fall to check on all our plumbing fixtures, etc... they just completed our service visit for 2020 and the same two young men who have been coming for the past few years came again. Every year, including this one, they are prompt, courteous, thorough and ready to answer any questions we may have. They were masked up and used their shoe coverings which we also appreciated. It's always such a pleasant experience dealing with these young men that I was prompted to finally put a review out here and was surprised that Megee's rating is not higher as our experiences for many years have always been very positive. We look forward to many more years of awesome service. read more

We recent used MeGee Plumbing for a clog in our sewer line. They showed up on time, when expected. The service technician was very courteous, very professional, explained everything he was doing, and left the place neat and clean, as he found it. He obviously takes pride in his work - a definite asset to the company. When technician told me the job would cost over $500 (to replace two faucets-one bathroom and one kitichen one and to fix a leak with a shower handle) I thought there must be something very time consuming here I did not see. I supplied the brand new faucets. Well, two hours later he says he is done, hands me a bill for $460 (said he could not fix the shower handle). That means for two hours of work they were charging me $230 an hour. (about twice what their website says it is). I paid it but feel taken advantage of. Called Megee Co. regarding an electrical emergency (no power). The electrician called first and arrived when he said he would. He proceeded to do a complete check of the system and found an old breaker box with obsolete pushmatic breakers which trigger very easily; they seemed to be the problem along with possible weather issues. All in all, I found Megee responsive, showing up as planned. The electrician seemed highly competent and willing to discuss the recommendations. read more

They only get 1 star as I can't give zero stars. Terrible, terrible experience. Called them in 4 months ago. The person they sent was incompetent and poorly equipped. He made a complete mess of things. Left me with 3 leaks that weren't there before, and told me a faucet I had purchased was incompatible with my RO system, when in fact it was compatible and he just didn't know how to fit it. It's taken Megee close to 4 months to fix problems caused by them. I lost access to my kitchen because mold had developed due to one of the leaks caused by them. I've lost earnings. I've lost vacation time. They've made appointments which I've taken time off for and then not turned up and not bothered calling. When I call them, no-one knows what's going on and the woman who answers the phone is incredibly rude and unhelpful. They have no concept of customer service. Do yourself a huge favor and don't let Megee into your home. They are a joke. read more

Company never told us about the outrageous $94.00 they charge for a quote!! Worker showed up and walked around for less then an hour to return with a $2,000 quote, to run lines to our gas fireplaces!!! Then told us that we owed $94.00 for that!!!! When we called the company the lady that answered told us that it must have been my misunderstanding!!! I was never told!!
