We had Apple Electric in to diagnose a ceiling fan that stopped working. Not only did Apple charge us for telling us that our fan died when it only needed a $20 part, they also charged us for another visit replacing it with a new fan that stopped working 3 weeks later because of incorrect wiring. The woman who answers calls at Apple also has a caustic, off-putting attitude. Disappointed by Apple's poor work we called H&L Electric who figured it out in record time for a fair price. Apple Electric did a within of installing two ceiling fans in our garage (12 foot ceiling) in place of existing lights. They replaced the receptacle box with a code compliant heavier box rated for ceiling fans, assembled and onsite new fans from the boxes. Afterwards they did a great job of cleaning up and removing all of the shipping materials from the fans. They were friendly, courteous and very professional. read more

I had problems with my wired smoke detectors. They needed to be swapped for new ones and after trying to remove them myself, I gave up. They beeped all day and I placed new batteries in them to see if that would hold off the beeping.... That was good for a few hours of quiet. Then at 1am and again at 5am they started singing again! Apple Electric came to the rescue in the morning and completely updated EVERYTHING! Price was reasonable, their employee was very thorough and nice to deal with. We began to use Apple Electric in 2017. Apple was responsive to our needs and performed the necessary work in an excellent manner for several years. However, our experience with Apple Electric has changed for the worst in the last 2 years. We have contacted them on 3 separate occassions in 2021-2023. Apple refused to provide one appointment, hung up on me during one request for service, and one occassion provided me with a date and time for the service call and then canceled the appointment. Apple lied to me two times in this period. The employee who answered the telephone on 2 of these 3 occassions appears to be incometent. In addition, Apple has attempted to steer me to another electric contractor in the area because apparently they were 'too busy' to service my home. Due to our experience in the last 2 years, we will no longer use Apple Electric. They do not seem to want or need my business. read more

I have used Apple at my primary residence as well as rentals in the area. I prefer the hourly charge if I have all of the materials. Last job they sent someone to give me an estimate, which seemed high. After reviewing past invoices and labor, I kindly asked them to review the estimate and see if there was possibly a miscalculation. They revised the estimate more in tune to what it should have been, based on hourly rate and number of technicians. Mike and Taylor arrived ON TIME (something unheard of in Sussex County) and were polite and respectful. They had the job nearly done and cleaned up their debris in less than an hour. I have used Apple Electric at my home once and at my workplace twice. Most recently I was having an event at work and 2 hours before the event was set to start, our bathroom light stopped working. No windows in this bathroom- so absolute darkness. I called Apple Electric and explained the problem and my predicament. The woman who took my call was very nice and said she would call around to see if she could get someone out to help. She called me back within the hour and one of her technicians changed his schedule to get to our office right away. Mike, our electrician, was friendly, fast and efficient and got the job done before our event guests started to arrive! I was so impressed with the level of care they provided. This company is not trustfull becarelfull, to allow them in your property If you do make sure you take pictures and stay aroud to moniter there work. They called me to tell they would perform a free tune up to my air conditioner. I agreed since it was free. They came to my house the worker was on my propert only for 15 minutes on the roof for the suppused tuneup. And hour later i had leakage in my home. I did not have issues prior to them coming to my home. When I called to complain and told Mellisa the supervisor the worker was only there for 15 minutes the Supervisor Melissa said that they had record the guy was at my home for more than an hour. Which is not true. The is not being honest. The worst parrt is that I now have a leak issue that was not there before. Please becarefull. God bless all who hires them. Im so disapointed. read more

We scheduled an electrician to come out and install a wall car charger in our garage. We told them the exact charger we had so they could prepare the parts. The electrician came late after the expected time window (not that big of a deal since we figured we'd be here all day for the job). Then he told us that he was told the wrong job so he didn't have any of the parts. He was going to charge us hourly and said he'd be charging us for the time he needed to get the correct parts. I had the same exact job done in the DC area, and this job was actually technically easier since the install was done on the same wall. However, he tried to quote us a price that was $200 more than the harder job in DC. I didn't agree with how they were conducting their business so we did not continue with the job. read more

When a company offers contact information on their website and includes a form for you to submit your request, it may be surprising but I expect that company to actually respond because I assume they would like to have my business. It's been three weeks since I submitted the form and included all the pertinent information. I've yet to get a response. Yes of course I could call but then what would be the point of having a request form on their website? It may seem simple but if they don't take the time to acknowledge my request, why would I trust them to work inside my home? I'm not interested in companies who don't communicate. When the two electricians left my house, I was so happy with the work they did. They called before they arrived at 7:45am to give me a heads up which I appreciated. We had good conversations as they were moving two fans and switches for me upstairs, and installing two new fans downstairs. I went out and purchased a new shorter downrod, a 4 switch plate and a light switch (which was the wrong switch) before they arrived. They swapped the upstairs switches for the downstairs fan switches and installed a new switch in the living area where a fan switch used to be. The men were respectful. When the invoice came is where I was upset because they were at my house for less than 3hrs and tried to charge me for 3.5hrs, and tried to charge me for supplies that they didn't supply since I went out ahead of time and purchased it, and majority of the supplies were swapped between rooms and already in my house. Lisa, the supervisor, instead of apologizing, all she had to say for it was that people make mistakes (which I totally get) and Lisa was very defensive when all I was doing was trying to explain the facts. She called the tech and the tech was still denying that I purchased my own $3 switch plate, even though he was all shocked when he got there and saw I purchased one ahead of time. Be prepared with supplies, since they will increase the price dramatically on any supplies they bring in. After checking gps she could see they were at my house for 2.7hrs (but they have to charge 15 minutes for travel, so 3hrs would be an accurate time. She said she would take off the charge for supplies that "they supplied" and only charge for 3hrs... I told her I wanted to pay for the one switch that they did supply, but again was defensive with her responses towards me, like I was the one not wanting to pay for the work that was done. $113 mistake seems awfully suspicious. I could also add that I had to clean black off my carpet when they left. The techs were aware because after they saw the black they decided to put on booties. Whether the black was from their shoes or the black fan, I did not get upset because when you get work done sometimes that happens. I was very nice and understanding. I just appreciate honesty and an apology for accidently overcharging. I know how hard a family business is and thought that I could trust this business since my parents used them before. Very sad, I won't be using them again. Even spoke with the tech before he left about possible other work down the road... that will not be happening now. read more

Have used them twice to South Bethany. They cranked all the work out efficiently. They worked work with Delmarva Power directly to replace our meter and the main feed to the panel since it was rotting from Sun damage. Also had them install a whole house surge suppressor on the main panel to protect electronics, LED Lighting and appliances from surges and lightning. Recently we had them out to rough in a bathroom. Their staff was friendly, knew how to communicate clearly and were on time. Could not be happier with both experiences! They even worked hard to fit us into their schedule last minute due to construction delays which I really really appreciate. They made an appointment with me at 9am on a day I was off from work. Later when they wanted to confirm the appointment by text, that had changed to a time frame of 12noon to 3 pm. I confirmed it and waited on the day they were supposed to show up. I was in front of my house almost the whole time. I walked my dog half way down the block and that took less than 2 minutes. I would have seen the truck/van parked at my house had they come. My roommate was home and would have answered the door if I hadn't. I called them at 3:30 and asked where they were. I was told that they were already there but nobody answered the door. Which was a lie. I was there the whole time. Right there. WAITING for them. Half my day off spent waiting for nothing. We made another appointment for my other day off this week this Thursday between noon and 3pm again. I'm not sure if they'll show up again this time. I don't like wasting my days off waiting for someone to show up who never shows up. read more

The guys who do the work are great but the bookkeeping/ billing department are terrible. I paid my early in March invoice in early March ( by check) and am still being asked to pay it. (It's now mid April) This is AFTER an in office visit I made to them on April 6 to pay my second invoice in cash. At that visit I showed them a photo of the cashed check for their first visit. Second visit occurred in late March. Lisa is awful to deal with, making you feel like she's giving you free work. They also overcharge time on the job. I will NEVER recommend them because of their awful bookkeeping practices and total lack of ability to get that right. read more

Very disappointed. We asked for a quote to install 4 plugs and a fan plate in our attic. Gave us a quote of $200 for a one man job. They sent 2 gentlemen. They were here 20 minutes but put in for an hour and a half. Then added $120 for an insp. Because of the second man we got a bill for over $430.When they came they only ran the wire and told us it would be another service call to actually put the sockets in. We were told the $200 was the complete job not counting Inspection. Who would pay $800 to have 4 plugs installed. They weren't even GFI's. We would have never hired them if they gave us a true estimate. They reduced our first call to $320. Still a rip off. We found someone else to complete the job. I will never deal with them again. We originally contacted the folks at Apple to do the annual maintenance on our generator since they are a certified Generac dealer. Since they were coming anyway for the generator, we asked if they had any experience in doing the electrical work for a hot tub. We had no idea how complex setting up a hot tub could be but the folks at Apple took the time to explain on the phone what was involved and why the tub had to be in position BEFORE the electrical work was done. When our electrician arrived, he immediately put us at ease with his expertise. There are a lot of safety factors involved with a hot tub but Wyatt knew exactly what an inspector would want and our installation passed with flying colors. We had him come back to install whole house panel surge protectors so now we're ready for anything! We would definitely recommend Apple! read more

The work was OK, but they quoted me over the phone a SUBSTANTIALLY lower price than they ended up charging when they finished. It was a small job to add a switch that shouldn't have taken more than 45 minutes, but they said it took 1.5 hours. Also, they charged me $29 for about 2 feet of wire, a box and a switch. I know the switch at Lowes costs about $2 and the box $5. So, they are obviously overcharging significantly on their "parts". Only use them if you're willing to be price gouged. read more

Lisa, the "owner," gave me the runaround over the phone. I just needed a simple estimate to get my kitchen electrical outlets GFCI protected, and Lisa told me she'd need to see a copy of my inspector's report in order to give me the estimate. Once I sent her the report, she called me to tell me she still can't give me an estimate. She wasted my time in emailing her the report, and I got the feeling that, due to my time constraints in needing this project done, she was going to rip me off at a higher price than they usually charge.
