If I could give them no stars I would!!!!!!! The reason that this was a horrible experience is number one the bus was an hour late and when I called to check on the status the representative barely spoke English and on top of that was very rude. Alecia (the rep) told me just wait it out the bus should be there eventually !!! Like who tells a customer that?!?!? The second thing is not only was he late but 45 minutes into our ride the bus breaks down on the side of the road!!!! It took someone 3.5 hours to get another bus to us which meant that we were in the hot sun, no air, no electrical outlets for 3.5 hours in the Georgia Heat!!!!!!! Already being late you would think that the bus driver would try to do the right thing once the bus got up and moving but no he decided that mid trip he wanted to stop at a gas station to have a smoke break . I would never use them again and the lack of empathy for their mishaps is what is very annoying!!!!!!!!!! read more

Tbh you can't complain about the bus because it's cheap. Atlanta to New Orleans round trip is no more than $70. That's nothing compared to a flight but the only true problem that I have is the sanitation on these buses. There needs to be true cleaning of floors, seats and BATHROOM. I know it's not mega bus fault that there's nasty trashy unsanitary folks in this world that may be on the bus but mega bus needs to find more ways to bring some sanitation on the bus. Maybe more hand sanitizers, wipes, etc. also it freezes on the bus but I guess just bundle up. read more

I had high hopes for Megabus based on the reviews on Yelp and other places, but my personal experience left a lot to be desired. On the first leg of my trip my bus was late leaving by about 45 minutes and was very crowded because another bus earlier had missed its connection leaving 20 people stranded for about 5 hours. The woman who was boarding us had no order to letting people on the bus and people who arrived early didn't get on first. She was also very rude and didn't explain anything to us about when the bus was coming, etc. One of the bus drivers was nice, but the other one was a bit cranky. We ended up arriving on time at my destination. On my return trip the bus was an hour late and was switched from a Megabus to a charter bus. The new bus did not have wireless or outlets meaning that most of us were left without charged phones and/or laptops and tablets which lead to a very boring 8 hour bus ride. Luckily a fellow travel had a few dvds he was willing to let the driver play on the bus wide tv system. We ended up being an hour late arrive at our destination. The real issue I had with this leg though was how rude the man loading the bus was to every passenger. He yelled at people for not being in the right line even though no one told us to be in line, when he checked my ticket he yelled at me and said that my reservation number was not on the paper I gave him, but it was all he had to do was look for it. His only redeeming quality is that he made sure the bus was loaded in the proper order. I am willing to accept a lot of things when it comes to cheap travel, but rude employees and lateness are things that should never happen. I don't think I will be riding the Megabus again. read more

The worst bus ride ever you can't even make yourself comfortable in the seats and it's too cold I asked could they turn down the air and with a attitude the driver said no .................... I guess you get what you pay for but I will never get back on it again rude getto and a long cold ride read more

always late very uncomfortable horrible customer service too slow its just the worst experience

If no stars were an option that would be my choice. Recently took a trip from Atlanta to New Orleans. Bus broke down 6 times . No air conditioning.. plugs didn't work .. arrived to my destination over 4 hours late . Megabus doesn't believe in refunds just credit to ride their unreliable buses. For all the headache my trip caused I should have just driven.i would never recommend them. read more

Up until our most recent trip, I was a Megabus fan. My husband and I took several short trips for weekends away and while the experience wasn't luxurious, it was sufficient for our needs and extremely cheap. So when we decided to go to Disney World for a week, an overnight Megabus made sense. The trip down was good, as expected. Cheap tickets, seating was a little cramped, but we slept leaned against each other and were fine. The trip home, however was one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had. They sent a bus with a full, broken bathroom, with only five minutes to spare before our departure time. The air recirculates in the bus, so within an hour the entire bus smelled like human waste. They overbooked the bus, so when we got to Jacksonville from Orlando, every seat was filled, squeezing an additional passenger in the back bench seat where we secured seats earlier that evening. One girl was soaked by water dripping from who knows where and the floor was wet and slippery going down the stairs. No low price is worth that kind of a trip. read more

Megabus Atlanta to Jacksonville midnight bus Feb 3rd stunk. I had a reserved seat,2nd row seat on the upper level power socket didnt work. Bus driver failed to give the safety spiel before leaving the corner, and then proceeded to do so without the intercom after we left. No one upstairs heard it or was aware of it. We found out when the bus driver slammed on the breaks clomped up the stairs and threatened to throw people off the bus if they didnt shut up. The people in question had been chatting and laughing. Basically the Driver was lashing out when he was the one who had not followed procedure. Driver had an attitude the whole way being dismissive or abrupt to any questions or requests. It was bad enough that we didnt take the return trip. Temp was too hot seats are now way too narrow. read more

Megabus is nothing more than a money hungry scam! DO NOT USE THERE SERVICES! 1$ tickets? I paid 80$ for mine just to be left at the bus station holding my bags like an idiot. I arived on time and asked the driver how to get my ticket i purchased online. All he said was use my email i received, ok cool, i informed him that i had to grab my bags which were still in the truck. By the time i had gotten them i turned around just intime to see the bus pulling off without me! Theres no refunds they refuse to give me another ticket im extremely upset about the fact that this "business" just scammed me for almost 100$ and theres nothing i can do about it. read more

LOVE it! I took it many years ago when I lived in Detroit to Chicago. Beat's Greyhound/Amtrack all the way down for quick, cheap travel. I took it this past weekend from Atlanta to Nashville. The trip was about 5 hours, which flew by. We made a 30 minute or so stop in Chattanooga and other than that, straight driving. I left on a Wednesday and came back Saturday. Both times the bus was pretty empty (less than 25 folks) so I had both seats to myself. It's super clean. The wifi and having my in-seat outlet are the two outstanding features that make Megabus like a rolling office! I paid $19 each way plus a $.50 booking fee. The stops are always downtown or in a well-populated location with access to other buses and cabs. I couldn't have been happier with the experience and now I want to do a $200 weekend getaway challenge using Megabus and Groupon! Oh, DO NOT BE LATE! I was almost late and the bus pulls away about 2-3 minutes after the stated time. read more

I wish there were negative stars. BEWARE. Absolutely without a doubt DoNot use this company. They have no claim system for baggage and my international students bag was taken at a stop between NYC and Atlanta. No one knows where.....No one will call her back and it has been days. When we call we get a recording to call back that they are to busy to answer. I guess she and her belongings are not important. What travel industry business doesn't have a claim check system for baggage. I have hosted international students for 15+ years and from now on Megabus will be off our list of ways for them to visit and see the USA. read more

I was very hesitant to ride the Megabus at first; however, my experience was surprisingly a good one. The tickets are cheap. I was fortunate to get a bus ticket from ATL to Montgomery for only $10! It is possible to purchase tickets for $1; it's just that the departure time of the bus is very early. The wifi on the bus suck and so are the seats. Get a reserved seat for an extra dollar or two. If you're lucky enough, you might get an amazing bus driver to ensure that music and voice level must remain a minimum. The Megabus is a convenient way to get to point A to point B. read more

The absolute worst company Ever ! They sent my father to the wrong address and when he got there they said he was not in the correct location and had the nerve to keep his money ! I took a round trip from Orlando to Atlanta via Jacksonville. On the way to Atlanta the bus was an hour late and the internet didn't work. On the bus I'm on now, back to Orlando, the power outlets and reading lights don't work. Our cell phones and laptops are dying. The driver has no idea why. I called Megabus to see if there is a Master switch and the girl said she doesn't know of one. Also they don't offer any amount of refund because these services are FREE. So basically they don't stand behind their service claims. They might as well list foot rubs and free drinks!! It sounds nice. read more

My first experience has really left me with a negative view of Megabus. Although it is a very inexpensive way to travel, It has its many downsides. My bus was more than 45 min late because at the last minute they decided the bus was not up to par. I was glad they decided that, but when you expect to board your bus at a specific time and they all of sudden drive away and say they will be back with a new bus....it gets frustrating. On top of that the men loading the luggage threw my bags in. The actual ride was not too bad until lunch time. We had a 15 min break to use the restroom, get food, etc. When we got back on the bus, The driver tied a trash bag to the back of the seat in front of me! throughout the trip, people kept throwing their trash and it started to smell horrible. I was shocked that they wouldn't think of a better way for us to throw away our trash. Besides the bad manners and smell, the bus driver drove 45 mph on the highway. Even when there was no traffic we kept going the same speed. We finally arrived to our destination almost 4 hours late. Although it was a much cheaper way to travel in comparison to an airplane ride, it was one of the worst experiences. read more

I rode Megabus from Jacksonville, FL to Atlanta, GA on 6/22/19. We left Jax at 1:50p. The bus left on time, one star. Bus arrived in Atlanta, safe and on-time, second star. That's where the positives ended. I sat on top deck, reserved a seat, hoping to get panoramic views during travel. That was impossible because the the windows were filthy! The bus had plugs available for charging however, the plugs were loose hanging and wobbly; therefore, the cord kept coming out of the plug complicating the charging process. Also, It was 90 degrees and the air conditioner on the bus wasn't working properly. I spoke with the driver about this during our stop in Tifton and he said the top deck was always hot due to the sunroof. He further said the air was turned up as high as it could go. When I placed my hands on the vent, air was barely coming out. Some of the ladies on the top deck starting coming out of their tops stripping down to sports bra due to heat. It was terribly uncomfortable. Finally, we ran into some rain which meant no sunlight on the roof top so the temp improved; but guess what? The rain started to leak into the bus and wet the passengers. I was ready to get off the bus never to return. This was my first experience on a bus ride and it will be my last. I'm very thankful for arriving safely; which is the most important thing. But I guess you get what you pay for. Cheap is just that "cheap!" Don't expect much when you pay so little. read more

So this is my second time deling with megabus not purchasing tickets for my self but for my diabetic mother whobus taking care of her sick heart patient husband and two grandchildren. This experience have been horrible the first time she used mega bus they had her to sit in megabus for more than six hours saying it was a problem with her ticket and this time they over charged her and dying due to their policy of no refunds she can't get her money back. Being that she is on a fixed income and a survivor of hurricane Harvey that lost everything she needs every penny. This company is horrible with the worst customer service I've seen in a long time. Instead of sending the call a to a third world country they need to train their reps of how to help they customers. Business one on one you want customers this is how your business prosper. Horrible company!!!!!!!! Zero stars read more

I was riding the Megabus from Atlanta to Memphis this past weekend. I have ridden Bolt Bus and Megabus in D.C. and NYC and the service has always been great and had wireless internet with no problems. I was expecting the same with the new Megabus in Atlanta. I was wrong. The wireless did not work on my trip going to Memphis. I thought it was an isolated event and asked the bus driver if he could possibly switch the modem or WIFI connection off then on again. He said that he didn't know where it was. Ookay, I thought. Then I called the national Megabus number hoping for some answers. I explained the problem and asked her if there was anything that she could do. She put me on hold for five minutes. She said there was nothing she could do and the bus driver needed to call his Tech Support. He told me prior that he has called repeatedly but no response comes. I asked if she could give me the number so that I could give it to him when we stopped in Birmingham and she said she could not. I asked if there was any tech support she could get me in touch with to help with connecting. She said she couldn't. Horrible customer service. Then on the way back, (while riding a different bus) it did not have Wireless again. I understand that this is an inexpensive way for people to travel, but do not publicize free wireless internet then have it not work AND then have horrible customer service. I've experienced much better service and treatment in the Northeast and Megabus NEEDS TO CHECK ALL Wireless Internet connections in their buses immediately. read more

We were supposed to leave Atlanta at 11pm on Friday night and arrive in Durham at 8:30am. At 1:30am, our bus driver realized we had an issue so she contacted dispatch who advised her to pull over and wait. What was supposed to be a 90 minute delay has become a 4 hour delay and we are still stranded. The bus driver hasn't given any updates about repairs being made or whether another bus is on the way. Then dispatch sent a bus full of people to come get us, but their bus was already full. So we are stranded and Megabus has not sent help our way. read more

Megabus stinks! We booked a trip for my step-daughter and have been bombarded with email after email saying there is a delay. Right now we're looking at a 4-5 hour delay so my daughter may not even make it here tonight. To add insult to injury we have called to see about getting the trip rescheduled. Oops...we can't do that due to "their" trip policy. Well, trying to be reasonable we asked about getting a refund Oops, we can't do that either...due to their trip policies. How is this system supposed to work? And why did I get hung up on by multi customer service reps just because I told them I didn't understand this policy and that I would like to talk to their supervisor. Very unprofessional, my dear. And just a case book example of bad customer service. Now we're sitting here waiting for the trip to "end" (which they said means the bus arriving in Atlanta) in hopes of getting a refund. I don't expect it...the bus or refund. TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Don't do it. If I could give zero stars I would. My son took Megabus from Atlanta. He was there plenty early. Ran across the street to get a coffee. Came back 15 minutes early and the bus had already left. I called customer service and they actually hung up on me. read more

They aren't worthy of this 1 star!!! BE AWARE!!!! THE MEGABUS APP. DOESN'T WORK!!!! I purchased a $28 ticket from Atlanta to Nashville. 3 hours before my scheduled trip (8/18/19 6:30pm) I noticed that my reservation was incorrect. Tried to switch my ticket through the megabus app. but was having issues. I decided to call megabus customer service and was hung up on by a customer service supervisor named Tashira 3 times!!! Finally, I decided to pay $14 to change my reservation...received confirmation that my reservation had been changed to 7am (8/19/19). I arrived early just to make sure everything was okay. Couldn't find anyone to assist me when I arrived to the station. Finally after 10-15 minutes I ran into a short stumpy lady that was "very rude" she checked my information and told me that I didn't have a reservation!!!! However, I will not be the one you guys will take from, I will be seeking further assistance regarding this situation!!! IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE A BUS...I RECOMMEND GREYHOUND!!! read more

The one star is for the price. You can't beat the price. The timing schedules are horrible Leave in the wee hours of the morning and return to Atlanta during rush hour traffic in the downtown connector. At first, I was impressed: leaves on time, near empty, reminds me of an airplane. Now its annoying and aggravating. With the cheap prices, here comes the trash! It looks like a Wal Mart with the ugly crowds of riff Raff. It's more confining than an airplane, it's always crowded. Trying sitting next to a FAT welfare mama with crying babies for the next 7 hours!! That's how long it took from Jacksonville to Atlanta. I could of been in Europe by then! Why doesn't the ghetto trash take their business elsewhere? FAT passengers and crying babies shouldn't board. The bus is always late and crowded like a damn Marta bus. It stops at the most inconvenient locations. And, the stench from the restroom... Good first impression, awful last impression. Very reluctant to go back due to other passengers. read more

So I caught Megabus from Atlanta to Cincinnati and it was a pleasant trip. Coming from Cincinnati going back to Atlanta we had the rudest person ever! Not even the driver just the check in person. From the time I got on she was extremely rude and unprofessional. A passenger wanted to get off the bus at a stop and this lady kept saying she doesn't have to let us off. He became upset and she called the police on him. The most ridiculous scene ever! So instead of us being off the bus for 15 minutes we have been sitting here for 30 minutes and still counting. driver got lost twice during trip. Probably Ok for short trips but I would not recommend it for more than a few hours.

While traveling on 85 South, I witnessed the MegaBus driver driving recklessly. He cut me off almost hitting my vehicle several times. When I honked my horn, he flicked me off and gestured profanity. I notified their customer service dept and reported the tag number. I have yet to hear back from this company. Beware of this transportation company!! I would not recommend to anyone!! After purchasing a round trip ticket for my son from S.C. to Atl and from Atl to S.C. the bus to Atlanta was delayed for over an hour then somehow the ticket back defaulted to leaving the same day he arrived (which would have been impossible).I kept getting and error message when trying to purchase the ticket and after 30mins or so it finally went through. Now he was to arrive at 9:45 that night and didn't until 11. Get to the bus that Sunday to depart and of course the ticket have the defaulted date of Thursday on it and he couldn't board. I called customer service and got transferred to a supervisor Preston was a complete jerk just as the agent that transferred him. Much better than I expected after reading all of these bad reviews! Took the early morning bus from Atlanta to Jacksonville. There was staff there letting us know that the bus may be 10-15 minutes late. The bus actually arrived a few minutes early but did not take off until about 20 mins after scheduled departure due to how long it took to check everybody's tickets/luggage and get them on. We would have gotten to our destination on time if not for a slight delay due to traffic and having to make an emergency bathroom stop. I had very high hopes that MegBus could save my teenage son the drive back and forth to Atlanta from Chattanooga. Seemed a great idea at a great price. Unfortunately, the bus scheduled for departure from Chattanooga at 3:45 was delayed over 1.5 hours, finally pulling out at almost 5:30. Each time we called MegaBus we were told the bus would be there "soon" and we should call back in 15 minutes. We never received any notifications from MegaBus on these excessive delays. The return trip (ATL to CHATT) was even worse. When we called Sunday around noon to validate the 1:00 departure time, the people at MegaBus could not seem to "see" the 1:00 departure option, much less give us any information about that route. When someone finally was able to acknowledge the 1:00 departure, they told us that bus would be running about 5 minutes late. That could not have been farther from the truth. My son stood outside in the very cold rain for over 2 hours without any updates whatsoever from MegaBus. Each time we called, the MegaBus service rep seemed to "not find" any 1:00 departure option, and when we provided a confirmation number then seemed to have no idea where the bus was or when it would arrive. We received an email update at 2:30 pm that the bus would be 1-1.5 hours late, hardly helpful given we knew this already given our son and many other passengers were still out in the freezing rain waiting with no bus anywhere in sight. In fact, the bus didn't pull out of Atlanta until well over 2.5 hours after the scheduled departure time. We were just notified by email today that $6 was refunded to us for that return trip. I wonder if Megabus feels this is the right response given what they put these passengers through. I'm so sorry Megabus is not an option anymore for us... it would have been such a great asset. read more

I've taken Megabus twice. My recent trip was 5/8-10 from Atlanta to Richmond, VA and back (12 hours total). When you first walk in the bus you will be shocked at how narrow the aisle is, but you quickly adjust. We reserved 3 out of 4 seats at the table (this is supposed to provide you with more leg room and no one reclining their seat on you). Would've been perfect if there wasn't another person seated with us but hey, i was not going to pay for another ticket just to reserve that trip (but if i ever catch a super cheap fare i will def reserve that extra seat; it's worth it!). It's a tight fit but I didn't feel uncomfortable until the 10th hour. I simply stretched my legs towards the aisle and that helped. I did not use the restroom b/c I did on my very first trip and even though it wasn't gross, it's just too small in there. my head was literally touching the door and i'm only 5"4". I'm also not a fan of public restrooms, much less a tiny bus restroom. We stopped 3 times to drop off and pick up and each time there was a building I could run in to use their facilities (each stop was prob 10-15 mins). One stop was at a gas station with a McDonald's attached to it and that was for 30 mins. They announce that the air is controlled and they can't adjust it, but on our way back someone from upstairs (i think the rowdier people sit upstairs.....ok, well at least they were on the bus I was on) yelled that it was too cold and the driver adjusted it, sooooo...*raises eyebrows*. Bring a blanket and neck pillow and socks if your toes get cold easily. :) I had an extension cord which worked out perfectly for us also. Before taking our trip we heard, "don't ride that bus, its been in a lot of crashes." and "that's for people who can't do better." Uh.....wrong!! Anything can crash - bus, plane, train, you in your car! We definitely didn't crash and some people take the bus because they don't want to drive a long way. On the ride back we were able to stretch out for a few hours until someone else got on and occupied the seat next to us at the table. He seriously was too large for that seat, needed two seats dude, for real!!! but that's not Megabus's fault. I'll ride it again. Book early, get a great price and sit back and enjoy! oh, and our bus left on time going and coming and our driver going (Maxine) was very cool. Don't know the drivers names coming back but the one from Columbia, South America was funny and had us laughing at each stop! Sorry for those who did not have a good experience. read more

Not bad, the double decker bus is cool. The drivers and staff are very friendly. They need to improve the locations of the bus stops. It's not cool to get left on the side walk waiting for next bus. Will improve business and give parents traveling with small children a place to get in out of the weather. Other then that! Very fast transit times. read more

In the beginning Mega Bus was quite affordable, though a bit inconvenient through to their limited bus routes and long wait times between connecting buses. Although they have made quite an effort to improve these inconveniences, it has come at a cost to customers through higher prices and poor customer service which was never at a reasonable standard. Bottom line is that they are not that affordable anymore wherein their presence has allowed their competitors to substantially reduce their prices. read more
