Normally I would've tried to find something else, but to be honest, I wasn't mad about it. Surprisingly enough, Oregon's capitol city of Salem is smaller than I'd expected before making the move. There are a couple of what used to be thriving malls that have dwindled down to host small, lesser known businesses. I grew up in the 80s when malls were the social hub and all the rage. Walking inside, I could see the adaptation to today's consumers with remnants of days gone by. Poised right by the entrance is a K-Pop store and adjacent Anime Town. The little kids play area was just as obnoxious as I remember, all screams included. Upstairs was a bungee style trampoline for bigger kids wanting a little more thrill. There was a Hot Wheels vending machine and fresh fruit dessert stand featuring the ever popular Dubai chocolate over strawberries for a mere $18 (ouch!). Perhaps it was the season, but the parking lot was packed. It was nice to see some of the favs of my youth; PacSun, Vans, and Hot Topic, and FYE. There were also some cool shops I'd never heard of. We enjoyed our lunch and had to depart with little time to spend browsing, but I really want to come back. If there was a deterrent to be mentioned, it's the 8+% tax, a significant hit when you're used to zero state tax.

This is where you come if you want basics and layering pieces in neutrals. Year after year, everything looks the same. Some would call the pieces "classics." Blazers, slacks, long and short sleeve so,I'd t-shirts, button up shirts, skirts, dresses and some basic accessories. My style is more eclectic and I rarely find anything here but stop in once in awhile always hoping. Located on the far end of Cascade Station by Lane Bryant, the store doesn't get a lot of walk in traffic.

East Vancouver Costco pharmacy has given some pretty disappointing service in the past. But today…read morewas different. The line at the pharmacy was eleven people deep. They kept calling people forward who paid ahead, while others stood in line. There were only two people at the registers. And the pay ahead line kept needing both people to fix little issues. This system seems rude. The only thing pay ahead does is save time by paying ahead. No reason to bring them to the front ahead of others. They still need to retrieve their meds. It was horrible. Lots of sick folks in line. But zero hand sanitizer at the counter. While we all touch the same stuff. Just because we are out of the Covid pandemic era doesn't mean the cold and flu season doesn't exist. They do not even sell hand sanitizer anymore. I asked an employee about this, and he told me the people he sees not washing their hands the most, are old people. What? Like they got old by having poor hand hygiene? Just a disappointing showing for Costco.

But do you realize how much work we actually have to do once we get the garments home to get them to look halfway decent!?

I brought in around $100 worth of merchandise, including higher name brands like Micheal Kors, but only ended up receiving about $40 after my consignment period was over. What frustrated me the most was how little I was paid compared to what my items sold for. Their communication was also disappointing. At one point, I was told they were going to pull one of my items, but later I was told it had already sold. For example, my a.n.a skirt originally cost over $30 at Jc Penny. They sold it for $11, but I only received about $2 in compensation. I also consigned a Coach banana makeup bag that originally retailed for over $80 and received very little for it. After seeing what I was paid for several items, I felt the consignment process simply wasn't worth it. While a few of the employees were friendly, I left feeling like I didn't receive fair value for my belongings., I would recommend selling your items yourself online instead of consigning with them.
