Normally I would've tried to find something else, but to be honest, I wasn't mad about it. Surprisingly enough, Oregon's capitol city of Salem is smaller than I'd expected before making the move. There are a couple of what used to be thriving malls that have dwindled down to host small, lesser known businesses. I grew up in the 80s when malls were the social hub and all the rage. Walking inside, I could see the adaptation to today's consumers with remnants of days gone by. Poised right by the entrance is a K-Pop store and adjacent Anime Town. The little kids play area was just as obnoxious as I remember, all screams included. Upstairs was a bungee style trampoline for bigger kids wanting a little more thrill. There was a Hot Wheels vending machine and fresh fruit dessert stand featuring the ever popular Dubai chocolate over strawberries for a mere $18 (ouch!). Perhaps it was the season, but the parking lot was packed. It was nice to see some of the favs of my youth; PacSun, Vans, and Hot Topic, and FYE. There were also some cool shops I'd never heard of. We enjoyed our lunch and had to depart with little time to spend browsing, but I really want to come back. If there was a deterrent to be mentioned, it's the 8+% tax, a significant hit when you're used to zero state tax.

This is where you come if you want basics and layering pieces in neutrals. Year after year, everything looks the same. Some would call the pieces "classics." Blazers, slacks, long and short sleeve so,I'd t-shirts, button up shirts, skirts, dresses and some basic accessories. My style is more eclectic and I rarely find anything here but stop in once in awhile always hoping. Located on the far end of Cascade Station by Lane Bryant, the store doesn't get a lot of walk in traffic.

While doing this I was lead to Kazoodles Toys. Which ironically is having their 20th birthday party. Was extremely excited to find out how a business lasts 20 years through the ups and downs of an uncertain economy. When I walked in I was greeted not only once but twice. Which was great customer service on their part. Thats where it went downhill. When asked what brings me in, I told them it was my first time in and doing some research. The mood shifted probably because I'm an adult that didn't happen to have his kids with him at the time. Which for me is a rare treat. My daughter Emma just happened to be at a friend's birthday party. The air shifted, forced smiles, the friendliness turned into awkward, forced conversations and felt like I just became cringe worthy. Think of people on the Epstein list. Unsure of what caused this shift, but couldn't get out of there fast enough. Even felt forced to make a purchase which I did. Would not recommend Kazoodles. How they lasted 20 years is a mystery to me. They don't even deserve a footnote in my book. I recommend going to Thinker Toys or Kids at Heart Toys in Portland. Sure it's a drive but worth it. Take notes on their Customer service and maybe you'll last another 20 years.

He also noticed someone left behind a bag and he ran out to grab them. Back in there to pick up the balloons, and I could just kick myself for not getting their names but I believe her name was Raven and she was so helpful. in there twice in the span of a week and the customer service, From the people I interacted with, could not have been better. It's my mistake for not making sure I had their names, but they definitely deserve high praise for their heartfelt customer service. It was clear they cared about their job and the people that they worked with. Thank you for all your help and if I go back in there, I will make sure that I get names.

When I went to get my new glasses at Visionworks, they said, even with 2 different insurance…read moreplans, my cost would be $310. So I decided to go back to Costco. I've been there a few times before and very happy!! With 1 insurance and them in network but not "preferred", the Versace glasses with all the bells and whistles, that are included at no extra charge, cost me $147. And they were so helpful. VSP insurance owns Visionworks so they give you more of a frame allowance but charge extra for everything else. Do yourself a favor and shop around!!! Costco is the best place I've found for glasses!!!

It was a hot day and I decided to have a cup of vanilla and chocolate twist ice cream. It was so creamy and was just a perfect food to enjoy on a hot day. I have to admit that it was a bit too much for one person to finish but I managed :-) Shortly after eating this ice cream, I had a double scoops (vanilla and chocolate) of custard from the newly opened Shake Shack on 164th. I actually find that Costco ice cream tastes better and more creamy and was only 1/3 of the price and twice the size!

They take the clothes like they're ring out a wet sheet and then wrap it around their hand and stuff it in the bag. Also has anyone else noticed that all the clothes are wrinkled that are hanging up? They snuck that one by us pretty quick didn't they? When everyone started buying clothes online with these folds increases in them it became more acceptable. But do you realize how much work we actually have to do once we get the garments home to get them to look halfway decent!?

The bins are not well maintained or organized: they are filled with a lot of discarded packaging, loose items that were once part of bundles (and thus not worth even their piddling asking price), and bits and bobs of unidentifiable purpose. The store literally smells. I leave the store with my hands feeling gritty and gross from shopping…read more The store is so full, racks can't move because they are so full. The merchandise is thrift store quality at best - holey, stained, old. Like most of the brands are no longer in business (coldwater creek, cache, lane bryant). They keep multiple racks stuffed full of clothes outside, regardless if its raining. I bet that's what's contributing to the mildew smell in the store. Prices are comparable to retail. I've never been greeted, but I can always hear the gaggle of hens gossiping at the back of the store about their colleagues and customers. Come for the show, but leave disappointed - hopefully before you have an asthma attack from the dust, mildew, and animal dander.
